- Knowing how TLC's Sister Wives marriages ended, I thought it would be a good time to take a look back to the beginning to see what went so horribly wrong. I have not seen these episodes before so I thought it might be interesting to give my impressions of the events that lead to Christine, Meri, and Janelle's departure from the Brown family. Messages from S1E6: This episode presents the first time Kody and Robyn are proven to be selfish liars. By the end of the episode Kody must swallow his pride and ask Christine for forgiveness. I take issue with this. People who offend you or do you wrong can offer the aggreived party an apology, but they cannot demand forgiveness. Forgiveness is something that must be given, never expected.

The house in Lehi was full but in fairness Meri only had herself and Leon in her section so why couldn't Meri,Who claimed she loved Robyn and her kids so much.,let Robyn move in with her? That probably would've been some help and it would've allowed Robyn to start working on building bonds with not just the kids but with the other wives. It would permitted her children to bond with their siblings and the moms. I get that Meri is volitile and it wasn't going to work but if Robyn truely cared about blending herself and the kids in it would've been more practical for her to do that.

I just learned that Janelle's part of the house was split with an upstairs and downstairs part. She offered Eobyn the upstairs aspect of her part of the Lehi home.

James nailed it when he said,"Kody said he was dropping a bomb." and I mean usually when you drop a bomb it does damage! It hurts people and that's what Kody did.

Great analysis...I was excited for you to review this episode. Robyn showed her selfishness and manipulative behavior. It was like Kody was daring the Wives to object to his selection of the dress. Kody and Robyn destroyed and gaslighted from the beginning.
It’s on Kody. He is the plural married guy. He tells and shows her how this works. He was not doing it the plural way. It was the show I think that delayed their wedding. Why on earth did he have to drive 5 hours to see her? Utah especially in the north is full of short term rentals. I’m sure Lehi has this all the time where a short courtship and rush to expand or find a bigger house is needed to add a wife in relatively short time. Saint George area the same I’m sure they could get out of the lease. Maybe penalized a few months. They would already if 2 months warning to join a family is the norm. She should have been moved up there. He should not have been overnight nor his kids with other women. The only upside is I think that is why most the original kids said no to polygamy from young age.

Kody is just as accountable or even more so for what happened. Christine had just had Truely and she was feeling sensative so rather then being empathetic and sympathetic Kody decided to be selfish and Robyn decided to lie and even if that lie was to spare the wives feelings it still wound up coming out and hurting them but I honestly don't think Kody cared. I think James nailed it. Kody apologized because from what Janelle said the wives were told to dress and style their hair exactly the same as they did in that episode because it took three days to get Christine to come back to the couch. She was pissed and with good reason.
I love the way you explained this situation. And I totally agree with your look on this I blame both kody and Robyn for thinking everyone was so stupid. So for all of their lies and dishonesty look at the outcome. How dare anyone speak their truth when all they have done to lie to everyone and then call them a liar. This was a mess
He was rubbing their faces in his (and Robyn’s deceptive behavior. I think he’s always been a scofflaw, and the wives tried to keep him to the straight and narrow. Once he had a partner in crime, he couldn’t wait to rub their noses in it. He’s selfish and cruel, as is Robyn. They truly deserve each other, but it won’t end well.
Your theory on Kodys "apolo-lie" is correct. The time between when Christine got up off the couch and walked off set and when she "came back" was 3 days. Whether it was Robyn, or TLC (or both )that told him he had to apologize to fix it and save the show, somebody did. He didn't give a damn until it started messing with his 💰.

She was 100% right to be and not just that but also,and I think it's easy to forget,that Christine had just had Truely and Kody literally took off after she had, had Truely a month. It was just unfair to all these women and Christine was 22 when she married Kody and she didn't even get a decent wedding because she didn't think it was appropriate. I hope when she's ready Christine meets someone great and gets the beautiful wedding she deserves.

I would also like to point out from the mouth of Christine herself in season 3 I want to say possibly season 4 in a interview but not the end of season interviews they do (it was also while they all lived in theie first set of rental’s after they rented the big house for 1 month, I can quickly find it if needed). Anyway’s Christine talk’s about how she never was a depressed or angry or upset or jealous person in any way whatsoever (she also point’s out that in the past she totally & completely failed to understand or empathasize & thought it foolish & or silly to be jealous of a sister wife or potential), she said she never felt jealous over Janelle or Meri or anyone or thing until Robin came in & that imo was all because of situation’s like the wedding dress & many other thing’s we seen, later heard & deff never will hear of because if Robin & Kody had never acted like two teenagers that could not keep their hands off of one another, and not ignored her or anyone else’s needs, or made them feel that way she would have never felt that way, or any other type away for that matter. But what absolutely broke my heart completely in 2 is when she say’s for the first time in her life she experienced such a dark and deep depression, after giving birth to Truely and for the first time ever had to get on anti-anxiety/depression medication, and took a while to ground her own self, because no one else was there for her when Kody should’ve been, Robin should have been extra loving to her and just in general the sister wives all should have been loving and wrap their arms around her and carried her through this, because like they liked to say having sister wives are the best because all of those things. However, nobody can even help her with her home life or her kids or anything let alone get her through her dark days! She finally have to make her own self happy and have to drag her self out, and wean herself down off of the medication. I’ve been depressed on and off my entire life, and I know how it is to be alone, how it is to not have anybody and I know how it is when nobody seems to realize or care and to me that made me love Christine even more, it really humanized her for me and I felt it with her so damn hard. Why is it that me being just a viewer was way more concerned than her own husband? Her sister wives? The entire family? It is just tragic!
Also, this is what made her take a step back and take a break from doing all the house duties and all the child care duties and this is why she said she needed Robin’s help and why she was happy to let her take that responsibility from her, not entirely, but a little. She never said she quit forever. She never said she wanted to be that, and she definitely did not do it with any type of ill intent. So imagine my shock this season when Kody throws it in her face and says she completely gave up and referred back to that and other things during that time, it made me want to punch him in his effing face! How are you going to effing Weaponized depression & to do so against a woman that was the heart of the family and took a bigger part in raising the children his children then he ever did. It’s like bro listen here, she raised every one of your 13 children while you were out for yourself doing only for himself. Let us also talk about the fact that Christine is the most absolutely wonderful, beautiful lovely person on this planet. Especially back then she was so very innocent and just not exposed to so many things that it made her a very malleable person for him to be able to mold her into what he wanted her to be, and to control her and to keep her doing what he wanted and what he needed! Even with all of that, this stupid a** f-boy manages to not just destroy, but to completely & fully annihilate the entire relationship, and the entire history of the relationship when he rewrote the history of their relationship to make his own narcissistic self, feel better about himself! Absolutely disgusted totally disgusting!
This was spot on, I saw it all from the get go, Christine was gaslit from day one. I say let Grody and Sobyn walk off into the sunset, I don't want to see them again.

Yeah, when Kody kept saying that all the wives were okay with adding another wife, no, they weren’t! Janelle was being polite, but she admits she was pissed. Christine was NEVER okay with it. And you’re definitely right. Robyn was manipulative from the start!

My bf has binged the show with me and I think he summed up the adding of Robyn best by saying,"It doesn't matter waht the other wives want. From the very second Kody saw Robyn and he got hot for her it didn't matter what Meri,Janelle or Christine thought. He could barely remember their names when she showed up and here's the thing. It was nothing to do with the other wives. It was a total stunt to show Robyn how much better and more attractive he found her then the other wives. He was proud of her and that's fine but when you go out of the way to show a level of pride like that and you hurt someone that's just where you're wrong and it's not worth being right." (P.S. He also pointed out,much like James,that the apology was crap and probably only given because he didn't want them to cancel the show over his stupidity.)
Can I just say, I love the simplicity of you pointing out that when people "drop bombs, " they shouldn't be surprised by the destruction that results. Nice little life nugget.
Even if their religion has merit, and living polygamy can help you get into Heaven, R & K will never get into Heaven because of all the lies, cruelty, and theft they have committed against the other wives!

A little humility on the part of Robyn would have gone a long way to keep this family from falling apart. If she had only asked the other wives what their weddings were like, what they wore, where they honeymooned, and then told Kody, "I am NOT going to have a better dress, a longer more exotic honeymoon. It is important that you don't show me any favor over the other wives" That's how you start off on the right foot. It was Kody's natural tendency to favor her, but since we know Kody wouldn't do it because he doesn't have a lick of sense, it was her job to tell him "EQUAL TREATMENT ONLY!" But she couldn't resist being the center of attention, being pampered and treated "better than". They already went behind the ladies' backs with the affair, now they do the same with the dress? And then those two losers can't figure out why the other ladies were jealous and treated Robyn different from the jump?

This all shows who Robyn is as a person. She has never been a giver to this family. She is a taker from the beginning and now at the ending of this family….she has everything.

Robyn had opportunities to engraciate herself to this family and these women but ignored it every time. She could've offered to help Christine while she was recovering from having Truely and honestly,saying to Kody,"Let's hold off on our honeymoon and let's stay here to help Christine." or "Let me go get a job and help with some bills." would've been good but never once did she do that and in season 17 tell all we got to watch her blame these women for not wanting Kody around. Did he help? Did he ease the buredon? Did he tend to the children? Hardly seems like he did anything! Christine asked him to help with the kids and he told her no! If he's not there to help he's just there to hinder so why wouldn't they fork him over to her? It took something off their plates!

You're pregnant,you've had 5 children,and a miscarriage,and not only does your husband marry her but your baby is barely out of you a full month and he not only marries her but takes off for 2 weeks on a honeymoon? One day I was working and he and his new wife walked up to my register. She had an expensive pile of lingerie in front of her and he went to pay for it and as she walked over he turned to me and asked,'Hey,D,you think she'll like these flowers?" I just nodded. We had been together for 3 1/2 years and he never once bought me flowers. I actually said that. I said,"Yeah,J,there's nice. You know in the time we were together you never bought me flowers." I wasn't mad at him for treating his wife nicely,In fact I hope that he learned to treat her better then he did me.,but it just stung. I love flowers but I was always taught they were a waste of money because they aren't practical. It hurts that at 43 I've never recieved even a single rose from a man I'm dating. (First Valentine's Day's coming up with the bestie bf next week.,and the guy just stared,totally flipping says,"Well,you don't like flowers." I imagine that's how Christine,Meri and Janelle felt. Kody never treated them special or made sure they wore something pretty. He did not care and that's why Christine was so hurt and angry because she knew that!
Yes, i agree. Christine has been outspoken since the beginning. I think that is why she is so well liked. I love that she, even though she was raised in polygamy, knows her feelings are valid. Great insight on her part.
She stuck around. I think she was trying to get Kody to at least be the father her kids deserved but he didn't care then and he sure as Hell doesn't care now.

I've suggested that they should use a couple of RUclipsrs and commentors to interview them or just take questions and have them answer them.
In the book Janelle said it was 3 days after the dress fiasco before Christine came back to the couch. The producer had them dress the same so it looked like they settled it the same day. Janelle asked Robyn to stay on her side of the house but Robyn said no using the not Married reason. Robyn wanted her own space to be with kody and didn't consider the extra expense of paying for another household. I'm sure Janelle resented that.
Janelle had to move in with Meri and Kody. They also lived in a trailer with Christine, so I know they resented that big time
@@cosmiccookie2854 Robyn hasn't had to compromise/ sacrifice in anyway since she came into the family and it would never occur to her too. Kody said that Robyn said she can't come in and be a burden to the family. She hasn't been anything but since day one.
I honestly think Christine had a few moments where she realized that she would never,ever matter as much to Kody as Robyn did. There was the hiding the courtship,there was the not helping with the kids,there was doing things for Robyn that he had never,ever done for any one of the other wives. When you weren't ever really top priority and you accept it you become,over time,less and less okay with never being a priority. That's what Kody did to his OG wives. He showed them the kind of husband and father he could be when he put the efforts in but they realized that they were never going to get that effort.

When you look at the things Robyn did even prior to joining the Browns you can see how she is seflsih,sneaky and manipulative. Her own sister! Her ex husband had a crush on her sister,her own mother was encouraging that relationship and all of sudden here comes Robyn. She claims that her ex stole her purity and got her pregnant and he married her. How do you do that to your sister? What if she did loved him? What if her sister wanted to marry him? She had no qualms about screwing over a woman who was her sister and clearly she had no qualms about messing over her sister wives.
@@dawnclark4635 I agree. I don't think there is anything she wouldn't do to get what she wants for her and her kids. Starting off with a lie ( wedding dress and other things) was a terrible start. I remember telling my daughter than that she was going to be a problem.
Robyn also had a secretly purchased a dress for the commitment ceremony. They were all supposed to have original dresses made. Also Meri miss undecided, managed to do something she’s never done pick an outfit out quickly. She also is believed to have already picked out that dress prior. Robyn didn’t trust the dressmaker or the results. It goes to show it wasn’t about the family it’s about the attention to separate herself to be on a higher priority and higher importance than other sister wives during commitment ceremony.

It really bugged me when she purposely went to Logan's graduation late. Again making herself the focus and disrupting and another wife's special day. Narcissists always ruin special days. It's part of their M.O.

I had issues with picking a dress for my sister's first wedding because I was dieting and wound up getting my dress a few weeks before but I had dropped about 25 lbs and needed that time. I hated every dress I saw prior to the weightloss and unfortunately, I kept dropping weight and the dress I picked was HUGE on me,I stepped on the back of it because it slipped and created a pull in the back,and then my sister was barely married a full year! The dress situation for the sister wives was just weird and I honeslty think Robyn didn't want to look like everyone else. She wanted a different dress and she knew the wives wouldn't like that.

I thought it was very telling that he said this in season 1. He says he told Robyn that the other wives are going to hurt by what he was doing with her “There’s no way around it.” That says to me; their feelings do not matter to him, he views the wives as children, the only person who matters in this family is him.
I so agree! Christine was voicing her suspicions the whole time. The other wives tried to make Kody look good. They protected him. Thank you for directing that to Christine.

You make so many great points. This episode was the first huge illustration of K & R scheming behind the sister wives backs (making out on camera while Christine was in labor was charming as well). Lying to their face and finally humiliating them on camera. This had to be a red flag for Christine and Janelle. Robyn feeling entitled to equal time before marriage, bringing debt to the family to pay off when they're already struggling, insisting on her own place to live in Lehi and always saying she wants the wives to see the value she brings. I don't see any value, just a drain on family resources and emotional drain of having an exposed liar join the family. She shows no remorse and is kind of pissy that they are mad about being lied to and humiliated. I don't know how Janelle and Christine could form a tight bond with her after that. I think they tried and I give them credit. Robyn is one of those toxic people you immediately stay away from in real life and they were trapped with her. I'm so looking forward to your take on more episodes.
Honestly though the scheming started before the first episode aired. You could hear the hurt in Christine's voice when she talked about Kody recieving a testimony about how Robyn should join the family and finding out that basically Kody was seeing Robyn behind Janelle and Christine's backs. The entire relationship with Robyn was based on betrayl and lies and it really makes you wonder how much Kody loves Robyn because he can't seem to say it and he made her his dirity,little secret. An average woman would feel morally outraged that when Kody introduced her into the family that it involved so many lies and subterfuge. Just that one act showed from day one that Robyn's moral compass is completely backwards. How do you keep someone secret like this? How would someone be okay with someone betraying their spouse for you? It just shows a lack of morality on both their parts and Meri too but hey, every once in a while karma shows up and when it did for Meri it kicked her down the stairs.

Look at Robin's face when Christine was getting up to leave.
Her jaw was clenched with anger and it looked like "who cares Christine, I do what I want and you just shut up and sit there because I'm the only one that matters".
Also when Meri her mentor was explaining why she did not deserve a night with Kody she didn't respect her either.
Oh Robyn had a plan all right and Christine was her nemesis!
Christine knew back then what the score was. I wish she would've gotten out sooner.

Ah the dress mess. This lit me up when it happened. It showed how out of touch Kody is, idiot sitting there with both arms in the air announcing it like he won a contest or something. Also showed how two-faced Robyn is. She would've smoothly just gone on past that and never blinked an eye if Kody's big mouth hadn't gotten in the way. Instead of being sincere and wanting to bond she took them there as a pity outing, never intending to actually care about their input or opinions on styles- nothing. It was an appeasement, almost like she was dealing with children instead of her equals as sister wives.
Robyn and Kody deserve every last bit of karma they have coming their way. May it be swift, relentless, and overpowering. 🙏🏼 🧿

Kody is just deliberately mean and calling him an idiot is far more kind that what he deserves. Kody is an insensative f'ing moron. He knew exactly what he was doing when he "dropped the bomb"about the dress. He did it deliberately and while it might be that he's a complete f'ing moron it's pretty obvious that he wanted to brag and it backfired because all he managed to accomplish was to tick off Christine so much she wanted nothing to do with them and you can see in Janelle's face that it irritated her too.

The biggest mistake was… Robyn made a big deal about including the sister wives and making them part of the wedding planning. The sister wives felt honored to be a part of it all. (Back in the day, the groom did not see the bride in her dress until she walked down the aisle, the groom did not pick out the dress). The second part of this train wreck was Kody’s snide attitude, that he had a bomb, he was “pleased as bunch” to tell the sister wives that HE picked out the dress. That was a slap in the face to the sister wives. They realized Robyn wasn’t really interested in making them part of anything, that hurt them, they had been lied to, it reinforced their suspicions. Robyn’s face said it all… cut in a lie. With everyone looking at her for an explanation, Robyn said she didn’t think the sister wives would ever find out. This was the beginning of Kody and Robyn keeping secrets from the sister wives.
I'm assuming they help pay for it so at the very least she should've attempted to include their choices in some things. Like yeah they got to pick their dress but you dragged these women from place to place,while Janelle probably got more and more tense about money,and all but it doesn't seem like anything the wives thought was seriously considered.
Every time you watch the earlier episodes, you uncover more of their BS. I keep waiting to see a real tear drop form Robyn’s eyes. Haven’t seen one yet. SMH 🤦🏽♀️ Keep the videos coming.👍🏽
I know! It's trippy the stuff I didn't realize or pay attention to watching it before. I watched from the initial airing to a little around the catfish stuff. Periodically I would catch an episode mostly to see the kids growth. I'm now rewatching SOME of the episodes (I don't have it in me to rewatch all) and it's crazy watching them then vs what we now know.
He really does. I tried to go into it with fresh eyes and see it from a different prespective but when James points something out I'm like,"Wow! Kody hasn't changed. He's just a pile of elephant dung.
Honestly, I think that Kody and Robin secretly sealed themselves to each other WAY BEFORE the actual wedding. It always made sense to me that it happened that way.
No man is going to drive 5 hours one way and 5 hours back with 12 children and three wives,One of whom was pregnant,just for a couple of sloppy kisses and dinner. He was "sealed" to Robyn way before they got married spiritually.
Wow, very powerful take on this episode. I watched Robin’s reaction to Kody’s dress bomb and she was mad sitting there. It was like watching a child get caught doing something wrong.
She was mad but only because knew the jig was up and Christine had figured her out. It's a testiment to Christine's devotion to her faith and her family that she stayed that long.

I have called it "the great dress debocal" and I think the other thing that bugs me is the sense of entitlement because we all know that Robyn was in debt when she joined the family because in order for her to get her house in Vegas Kody and the OGs,Great nickname,James.,had to pay off her debts. Who paid for this massive wedding? I'm sure it wasn't Robyn's parents because they'd already paid for one wedding and there was also a two week long honeymoon. Look no matter what happens women compare things. Even with your besties if you are all involved with different men it's human nature to compare what one of you gets vs what the other gets. In this instance they are comparing what Kody did for Robyn and what Kody did for them. The line that stuck out to me was Christine saying,"Like you cared what I wore." because let's be honest HE DIDN'T!! He didn't care what any of those women wore except for Robyn and he made all these exceptions that he made for Robyn. Another thing Robyn had opportunities to involve herself and make herself useful to the other wives which might have helped. Remember that when Christine was pregnant with Truely she was working and Aspyn was putting the kids to bed. I know when one of my best friends had her baby in October we,me,my bf,my other bestie and her hubby,started doing things to help her prepare for the baby. Robyn moved to Utah and she couldn't say to Christine,"Hey,girl,listen I know you have to have Aspyn put the kids to bed but why don't I come over with Dayton,Aurora and Breanna and I'll put the kids to bed for you,maybe do a load of laundry for you and maybe even cook a few make ahead meals that you can just heat up after you have the baby?" Maybe she could say to Janelle,I'm looking for a job but I'd like to help so I'm going to bring some food over to help you while you work." or maybe offer to spend some time with Leon,then Mariah,so she could get to know the child. Robyn could've done things to make this transition easy and honesty would've been helpful and it wasn't entirely her fault but she also could've told Kody to shut up. I mean the dress debocal was shady af but when Robyn and Kody were doing this he showed everyone exactly how he felt and it's sad that he claims he was never in love,that Paedon says he found his soulmate but these three women were important and when Robyn entered the family they lost their priority status.
Paedon also said and Robyn found a father for her children. Paedon knew what she was about. Probably everyone but Kody saw it.
I think with time and distance between them, the other 3 wives will see just how much they were manipulated, especially financially!
Not that they don’t realize it right now, but everything will only become more clear as time goes by. Robyn and Kody owe them, big time!

Kody was completely blind to it and it was probably the first time Kody enjoyed his relationship with a woman and probably the first time he genuinely enjoyed intimacy with someone he was really,really attracted to. Nothing Kody did helped to make this transition easier but there were opportunities that Robyn could've taken to help. Why not plan a movie night with Robyn andt he kids at Christine's,while she's working,or resting after having Truely,and do a load of laundry or cook a meal? I mean like I said my best friend got that. We did that for her because we knew she was going to have a hard time and she didn't even give birth. She had a surrogate and we knew she was going to have a hard time. Her husband spent time with her and the baby and we helped with her other kids! Honestly,one big way that Robyn could've helped was to say,"Hey,Kody,why don't we wait til Christine is settled back in with Truely before we take our honeymoon." He took off for two weeks with a newborn baby in the house and left Christine to contend with 5 kids and a newborn! Kody is nuttier then squirrel turds.

There was no way that Christine and Janelle were going to appreciate Kody and Meri bringing Robyn in. Kody and Meri were sneaking around with Robyn for months! It was a betrayl and then the betrayl continued with Robyn coming in and Robyn was fine with betraying these two women because she didn't want to have to share Kody with anyone else other then Meri. Once Meri got thrown out on her butt because Kody and Robyn didn't need her anymore it didn't matter what these three thought.

Robin’s engagement was longer than usual because she wasn’t divorced yet. She had to wait for it to be finalized. They just said that she was having to wait because of TLC on the show but that’s not true.

Janelle , Meri and Christine needed Robyns help or Janelle said Robyn promised to get a job and contribute to already "finite finances". So what did Robyn do? Nothing. I assume the "closet" business was suggested to Robyn..to do something! Anything! To generate income. When that failed..why didnt she try something eles? She couldve worked at Victoria Secret. She always had trusted family living with her to help. Her neice. Wonder what excuse she gave to get out of a job.
I know TLC probably did but this all started grinding gears towards weddingville long before the show so it just leaves me wondering who the Hell paid for this elaborate wedding? We know Robyn didn't. She was in debt from her previous marriage,Paedon said she had a job she hated and when the option presented itself to move she dove it faster then a stripper going after a 20. Between the wedding,the move,the house they rented for her,utilities,food,and that blasted honeymoon the very least Robyn could've done was get a flippin' job. At least show you're making an effort and My Sister Wives Closet wasn't a job. It was another vanity project that showed the other wives no matter what hairbrained scheme Robyn came up with Kody would back it!

I think one thing that should have been brought out in this episode is the fact that Robyn turned this situation around to where she was the victim. She sat there fake crying when the other wives were upset that they were tricked into thinking they had some input on selecting the dress. Robyn drew the attention back on herself, trying to get us feeling sorry for her bc she “unintentionally” may have possibly hurt the feelings of the other wives. Complete BS!

I remember at this time Kody said that he wouldn't be able to marry Robyn without his wives consenting and when one of them tried to speak up (I forget if it was Janelle or Christine), he told her it was her duty to obey him! Something like that, I haven't watched the early seasons since they aired and I'm not about to rewatch them lol.
The problem with that comment though is women in their faith are taught to "keep sweet" and submit to their husband. They simply are not allowed to complain so even thought Christine was voicing objections she couldn't come right out and say,"I don't want this woman to join our family." because it was engrained in her to "keep sweet."

I agree. Christine is brilliant. The only one of them that did anything guarantees TLC invests into this family creating a spin off franchise. The children are adults and the next generation grandchildren have proven their value with their own social media content. Why Kody and Sobin think this gig might end is delusional at this point. TLC knows this is a goldmine at this point. All thanks to Christine. I predict no matter what kody and sobin pull at this point the end will justify the means for TLC. I'm very sure behind closed doors new productions teams are already discussing pre productions.

Good insight James and I agree with you. I think Robyn used her kids as well to get "special treatment" from Kody. She probably told Kody they were fragile due to her x so they needed that "special time" to bond with him. 12 years now of " special time". Thing thou that bothers me is as she is telling Kody they need to be kept from being overwhelmed...shes telling them they better assimilate and not make any waves. She makes it clear to her kids that Kody is their ticket out of poverty..with the show and all. So in the end Robyn made her decisions based on her needs. It seems she and Meris friendship became a little rocky not long after the marriage.I think Meris unhappiness grew once Robyn joined the family and threw her relationship with Meri to the birds. Mission accomplished.

Not even had my first cup of coffee yet but when I saw the thumbnail of the browns last supper, I thought oh no he didn't lol , I have to watch this! The other episode was very telling Robin came in and acted so shy and demure as if she's doing everything to become a part of this family and please the other wives and yet she's making all kinds of demands on Cody's time and their living situation and the wedding. But she didn't know Cody well enough yet to know that he was going to drop that bomb about the dress or she would have made sure he had been schooled on that. Another thing to is that it seems to me like Mary had a bit of a girl crush on Robin initially. But I do not want to open a can of worms here because I don't care and I'm sick to death of talking about that kind of thing but if you go back home watch how Mary asked the round-robin she does seem to have a crush on her and I think that had a lot to do with the secrets and the beginning of that relationship. and nobody even really openly discussed about what a huge betrayal that is to have the groom pick out the wedding dress after you have gone there with your family and your friends and your mother and it's a special day and you have a special bond with everybody helping you and then that's a complete lie? And all Robin had to say was I didn't want him to let you know? Yeah she knew what she was doing from day one and I am convinced she found out they were going to be on the reality show and that was her dream and she maneuvered the rest of it.

I think Christine knew a divorced monogamous mother of 3 would never fit in their polyamous life. The connection Kody and Robyn have is that they are both from a monogamous background. The probabilties are Kody felt wanted by a woman who only wants him for herself and not to be shared. Then, I never would understand Janelle once being married to Meri's brother, that is a nuclear bomb everyone ignores. Looking at it all, Christine and Meri seem only suitable for a man born into polygamy on a generational background and understands what he should be doing without breaking protocol.

I mentioned on another YTer's page that I think Kody is apart of Qanon. I used to watch the show and after so many seasons stopped (a little after the catfish foolery) then I watched season 17 like what the heck did I miss. Went back and watched seasons 15 and 16. I called my mom and told her I think Kody joined Q. He says phrases like "Where we go one, we go all" especially when trying to get his family to get on board with moving. That's a Q slogan. Yes, he's always been a doofus but earlier seasons he was slightly more likeable even through the catfish stuff. But now his whole demeanor with women in general and his kids makes sense if he's with Q. The religious teachings that women are less than, mixed with theories of Q plus he's in the firearm business...just saying what it looks like to me. I think we are watching a man being torn against his own and his wife's selfishishness and laziness, his family falling apart, his religion and his Q theories.

There's another reviewer who points to the encounter with the Darggers as a point of unraveling. The husband there is in control in a way that's icky, but he's also competent in a way that Kody could only dream of, so he commands a level of respect that Kody could only dream of. Watching Kody these last years trying to assert his authority as The Patriarch has been watching him play a role that he's ill suited for. He was always the clown trying to get attention (like he was at the wedding). That overt neediness and "The Patriarch" don't really pair together, and Janelle and all the OG wives all noted that it's "not who Kody is." Your Qanon idea (and the Manosphere) explains the addition of both the anger and the crazy injected into what is otherwise would be a simple case of an emotionally needy Kody trying and failing to get respect by pretending to be an in-control alpha.
