James one fact you skipped over is Robyn's blatant cruelty. When she told Meri to "Hold on with me" knowing that relationship was long over is borderline abusive. Robyn is openly taking financial advantage of Meri and the Tell All lie she concocted that Kody would have taken Meri back but for Christine is twisted on many levels. Robyn's actions are disturbing when you add everything up. Now a pet peeve of mine is someone who instead of listening to what another person is saying their busy thinking about what they want to say next. Technically, this is Meri’s family. At first I will say that she screwed up when she gave Robyn the official title as Kody’s wife, however now that I see what the outcome of this shit show has become, Meri giving Robyn the legitimate marriage was the smartest move she made. If Kody had divorced Meri he would’ve been able to possibly gain half of her assets and that would include her B&B, something he didn’t put a dime into and actually made fun of her for purchasing. Now that I think about it Kody seemed to enjoy setting his wives up to fail… he did it with Meri, gave her hope of owning the B&B, then left her to defend herself against the other wives, then he did the same thing with Christine, got her hopes up about moving back to Utah, then knowing how the other wives would shoot her down, he encouraged her to talk about it and he thought it was funny. She was honestly heartbroken, thinking that she had the support of the one person who was supposed to be there for her, but again he found despicable humor in her pain. Here is the downside for Robyn. She doesn't just own half of Kody's assets as his wife, she owns his liabilities as well. So if Janelle has been keeping receipts (which I am sure she has) and she can show that Kody and she had an oral contract (and I am thinking that 17 seasons of showing them pooling resources to support the family shows they had oral contracts) Janelle may be entitled to at least a quarter of the assets that have Kody's name on them, since Christine has already come to her own understanding when leaving the family. Technically speaking, Robyn's house is also something that can have a lien put on it for Janelle to get her money back. And that lien would exist even if Kody and Robyn divorced.
so I want to add that when Meri was bringing Robin into the family I believe it was because Meri wanted to push Christine and Janelle out thinking it would put her back at 1st wife and fix her marriage with Kodi. But this backfired on her because once Kodi got Robin he didn't want any of the others. I think Robin is so good at gaslighting and manipulating Kodi's other marriages.
She is legally married to him,so when the show stops,so will her marriage. And she then will take everything,plus child support.Kody's greatest fear will be complete.
Robyn managed to use the profit from Meri’s house and half of Janelle’s profits plus family money to buy her house but failed to mention that when she got snarky about how they used family money to help Christine buy her house. Robyn and Kody made the family money theirs.

I think Kody calls his wives his best friends simply because Janelle referred to him as her best friend. Kody thought using this phrase makes him look like he really likes his other wives. However you can tell that he is trying to manipulate the audience and he doesn’t look at his other wives as his best friends at all
I think People give Kody too much credit. I don’t think he’s smart enough to pull off most of the crap. I hope Christine files for child support. In my state the first child filed for support gets the most, I think 17%. It doesn’t matter if the payer is married with children or if they have the older children… the most goes to the first filer. Christine, FILE FOR SUPPORT!

In my state welfare is based on income regardless of of marital status. Married people are untitled to all benefits if their income meets the requirements.
There's a wonderful scene in the movie Sense and Sensibility (with Emma Thompson). At the beginning of the movie, a rich, dying man tells his son that he will inherit everything (as was the custom at the time) but he must take care of his sisters and his step mother. The son begins to discuss absent mindedly, with his own wife, his intentions to provide his step mother and sisters with a very comfortable amount of money plus doweries. His wife chides him for being too generous, and over the course of a few days, she systematically manipulates him to the point of him declaring "he has decided" the only thing he will give them is a pittance to live on. He subjects his 3 sisters and his step mother to abject poverty all at the urging of his wife, leaving them with nearly no opportunity to improve their situation, or escape it though marriage (because no dowries). His wife then blesses him with praise at how wise he is and that he is fulfilling his duty, all the while having pulled the strings to the outcome she desired. That's the Robin/Kody dynamic.
Very true! I think Kody was so smitten by Robyn as she was younger, prettier, still of child-bearing age and made him feel desirable, that he completely allowed her to quietly take over his mind. She may not have even done it consciously, but she liked what was happening with her status in his eyes. And he loved how powerful she made him feel. The other wives didn't stand a chance.

The thing about it is Meri never needed to divorce Kody. According to Nevada law you can adopt children if your BF or GF as long as they're at least 10 years younger than the person adopting. You do not have to be married to adopt.

I said in a previous video, Robyn wants to be a kept women, she’s not gonna work for what the other ladies have pulled together for her to have. Robyn would have nothing without the show, and other “wives”.

This is the first time I've disagreed with your take. Robyn doesn't want to be the shot caller, she IS the shot caller. She wants to preserve that. Kody has (or had) 3 other wives, none of which were as good as Robyn in his mind. If she and Kody were to scout out other wives she runs the risk of Kody obtaining a younger, more preferable, child bearing wife. There was another season years ago when they were all on the interview couch and they were asked about Kody getting another wife. Robyn literally said she'd strangle him. I think she likes being the most recent, and has the most power in that position.
I can see that, however, her relationship with Kody rises and falls by relativity. she is an "ideal wife," when compared to Meri, Janelle, and Christine. Losing these women forces her to stand alone and deal directly with Kody without distraction. Not to mention losing the other wives they could lose the show and the income that comes with it. Robyn isn't trying to lose a nickel and I don't think her "love" for Kody is that deep, so she would be willing to let him find other wives, because she has her escape plan in place if he steps out of line. With all that, I do agree that the plan isn't well thought out and as you mention a younger, "prettier," wife could steal Kody's time attention, and spending habits. Ultimately, she finally has everything she wants and it could very well lead to her downfall.

IMO to understand Kody you need to remember the golden rule - follow the money. As Kody stated the only thing I fear is poverty. From day one everything he has done has been about money. His retirement, his financial situation, hiding from the tax man.
Excellent points! Rewatching early episodes, it looks like Robyn's manipulation was maybe also rewarded with positive reinforcement by well-meaning sister wives. In the beginning, they were struggling financially and time-wise but all seemed to make allowances when another wife said, "I NEED this." Short on time and money but Christine is stressed about police, or Meri is struggling, they each get a mini vacation because "I need this" and everyone accommodates. And then Robyn uses the hell out of that line. Disproportionate wedding? "I need this." Unfair honeymoon? "I need this." First one to get a house in Vegas? "I need this" and so on..."I need this" was respected in their family culture but she completely abused it.
You know, I hate divorce and would never wish it on anyone, if K and R divorce I will celebrate him being taken to the cleaners. Meri, Janelle, and Christine would never cause him that kind of pain. I agree that Robyn is capable of that and seems likely to do it.

You nailed it. I do think all of this happened much more quickly than Robyn anticipated or wanted. She has encouraged to meri to stay because she poses absolutely no threat in any way and contributes financially. She wanted Christine gone for sure and was willing to sacrifice the income that Christine brought in but I don't think she realized that Janelle would follow so quickly because now they have very little financial support, especially if Meri really has left. I do think they will look for otherwise to keep the show going and keep the drama going and Robin might actually be a believer. She's quick to spill the rhetoric and she had a real problem with the kids being in any other religion so she actually could be a believer. But even if she's not she wants more wives to keep the show and to generate more income but I think you're correct that she will be large and in charge of everything.

One would think if there was another wife potentially coming into the family at some time prior to the man marrying them, there would be a time when the wives would be given the chance to date as well before the final marriage. Robyn came into this situation and got Jody to actually marry her, adopt her children and get financially cared for without working at all. I could see that would be the case of Robin vs. Meri. All things purchased, regardless of name on documents, are part of marital assets. Depending on the state, she can not bleed a stone, if he takes a dump and is not making as much because no contract renewal, she can only receive what can be proven on income.
I definately see a huge difference in Kody over the yrs. Earlier season he actually appeared to listen to all his wives but things were different between him and Robyn since the beginning
I really like your clear headed take on the situation. I don’t know why all the women commentators do not call it like this. Sister wives long ago appeared to be going the way of survivor. Really glad to hear an in depth, very clear headed account. Kody is very naive about what Robin’s motives have always been. Kody has become a bound and neutered man; he knows he has lost his power, but he is misguided by Robin on how he lost his power in his plural family. His other wives see Kody is blind to Robins manipulation, but they are gradually deciding they don’t have to allow themselves and their children to be manipulated and ruled over by Robin. His biological children no longer even respect him. No woman that really loves her husband would separate him from His children. Robin is no new type of woman, it is good to see a man that will and can clearly call out what is going on. Good job!
At one point, when Christine was almost out the door, Robyn was telling Kody to go spend the night with her, but to sleep on the couch, till he could get her to stay. Spend a lot of time there, but don't have *** with her. That's for ME was the understanding. If she leaves, she takes our money with her. Go eat dinner with her. Chat her up. Sooth her. Stroke her. The Interviewer down right lied to Mary about the answers given by Cody Robin and Christine about Cody wanting to reconcile. It’s so frustrating to watch it!!!
The interviewer, Sukanya, did not lie to Meri. Suki did not know who was telling the truth and who was lying. She repeated what Kody, Meri and Christine had said in order to discover the truth. Like Christine, Meri knew nothing about Kody contemplating a reconciliation with her. Meri would have been the first to know about Kody considering reconciliation therefore Kody and Robyn are lying and Christine is telling the truth. Suki unveiled the truth to all of us.

Sure she has to ask only the questions Kody allows, and sometimes it looks like she is sucking up to them, like in the interview with Robyn, in order to get some answers. But then she presents Kody's story to Meri as the truth and that Robyn witnessed it, yikes that seems to be going a bit far. We've seen Robyn say what kody means is this... and she changes it to a softer word. Kody in season one said how Robyn said she didn't want to be a burden to the family and she was being helpful to Christine by being a stay at home mom. From the start it was obvious he was protecting Robyn. All the lots at coyote pass have either kody or Robyn's names on it. Robin and Kody have been scamming the other wives for years.
Why does no one ever bring up her wasting family assets to create and maintained (the now defunct) “ My sister wives closet” . Is that just too embarrassing to bring up? Talk about financial abuse. Lol
And all of the other wives knew better. She also was the one who pushed them moving to Flagstaff although her and Kody did a pretty good job of manipulating everyone else to think they decided it too. Master manipulators.
James one fact you skipped over is Robyn's blatant cruelty. When she told Meri to "Hold on with me" knowing that relationship was long over is borderline abusive. Robyn is openly taking financial advantage of Meri and the Tell All lie she concocted that Kody would have taken Meri back but for Christine is twisted on many levels. Robyn's actions are disturbing when you add everything up. Now a pet peeve of mine is someone who instead of listening to what another person is saying their busy thinking about what they want to say next. Robyn seems to do this on a regular basis n it drives me up the wall. Alright if you happen to read this great job on the recaps and I regularly look forward to your videos. Half of them are mini TED Talks and I'm always happy to learn something new.

Meri was the wife who ultimately gave the go ahead for Kody to marry another woman. They always talk about how a new wife is not allowed unless the wife or wives give the go ahead. Technically, this is Meri’s family. At first I will say that she screwed up when she gave Robyn the official title as Kody’s wife, however now that I see what the outcome of this shit show has become, Meri giving Robyn the legitimate marriage was the smartest move she made. If Kody had divorced Meri he would’ve been able to possibly gain half of her assets and that would include her B&B, something he didn’t put a dime into and actually made fun of her for purchasing.
Now that I think about it Kody seemed to enjoy setting his wives up to fail… he did it with Meri, gave her hope of owning the B&B, then left her to defend herself against the other wives, then he did the same thing with Christine, got her hopes up about moving back to Utah, then knowing how the other wives would shoot her down, he encouraged her to talk about it and he thought it was funny. She was honestly heartbroken, thinking that she had the support of the one person who was supposed to be there for her, but again he found despicable humor in her pain. Kody Brown is a disgusting human being, and his pathetic attempts to place blame on women who’s only mistake was trusting and loving him is just GROSS!!!! Kody is a pig! 🐷
Here is the downside for Robyn. She doesn't just own half of Kody's assets as his wife, she owns his liabilities as well. So if Janelle has been keeping receipts (which I am sure she has) and she can show that Kody and she had an oral contract (and I am thinking that 17 seasons of showing them pooling resources to support the family shows they had oral contracts) Janelle may be entitled to at least a quarter of the assets that have Kody's name on them, since Christine has already come to her own understanding when leaving the family. Technically speaking, Robyn's house is also something that can have a lien put on it for Janelle to get her money back. And that lien would exist even if Kody and Robyn divorced.

I read somewhere that Robin has a shopping addiction with plenty of debt and we know Kody likes to spend as well
so I want to add that when Meri was bringing Robin into the family I believe it was because Meri wanted to push Christine and Janelle out thinking it would put her back at 1st wife and fix her marriage with Kodi. But this backfired on her because once Kodi got Robin he didn't want any of the others. I think Robin is so good at gaslighting and manipulating Kodi's other marriages.

I think Kody calls his wives his best friends simply because Janelle referred to him as her best friend. Kody thought using this phrase makes him look like he really likes his other wives. However you can tell that he is trying to manipulate the audience and he doesn’t look at his other wives as his best friends at all

In my state a paternity test is required regardless. In my state welfare is based on income regardless of of marital status. Married people are untitled to all benefits if their income meets the requirements.

There's a wonderful scene in the movie Sense and Sensibility (with Emma Thompson). At the beginning of the movie, a rich, dying man tells his son that he will inherit everything (as was the custom at the time) but he must take care of his sisters and his step mother. The son begins to discuss absent mindedly, with his own wife, his intentions to provide his step mother and sisters with a very comfortable amount of money plus doweries. His wife chides him for being too generous, and over the course of a few days, she systematically manipulates him to the point of him declaring "he has decided" the only thing he will give them is a pittance to live on. He subjects his 3 sisters and his step mother to abject poverty all at the urging of his wife, leaving them with nearly no opportunity to improve their situation, or escape it though marriage (because no dowries). His wife then blesses him with praise at how wise he is and that he is fulfilling his duty, all the while having pulled the strings to the outcome she desired.
That's the Robin/Kody dynamic.

Very true! I think Kody was so smitten by Robyn as she was younger, prettier, still of child-bearing age and made him feel desirable, that he completely allowed her to quietly take over his mind. This is the first time I've disagreed with your take. Robyn doesn't want to be the shot caller, she IS the shot caller. She wants to preserve that. Kody has (or had) 3 other wives, none of which were as good as Robyn in his mind. If she and Kody were to scout out other wives she runs the risk of Kody obtaining a younger, more preferable, child bearing wife. There was another season years ago when they were all on the interview couch and they were asked about Kody getting another wife. Robyn literally said she'd strangle him. I think she likes being the most recent, and has the most power in that position.
I can see that, however, her relationship with Kody rises and falls by relativity. she is an "ideal wife," when compared to Meri, Janelle, and Christine. Losing these women forces her to stand alone and deal directly with Kody without distraction. Not to mention losing the other wives they could lose the show and the income that comes with it. Robyn isn't trying to lose a nickel and I don't think her "love" for Kody is that deep, so she would be willing to let him find other wives, because she has her escape plan in place if he steps out of line. With all that, I do agree that the plan isn't well thought out and as you mention a younger, "prettier," wife could steal Kody's time attention, and spending habits. Ultimately, she finally has everything she wants and it could very well lead to her downfall.

IMO to understand Kody you need to remember the golden rule - follow the money. As Kody stated the only thing I fear is poverty. From day one everything he has done has been about money. His retirement, his financial situation, hiding from the tax man.
Excellent points! Rewatching early episodes, it looks like Robyn's manipulation was maybe also rewarded with positive reinforcement by well-meaning sister wives. In the beginning, they were struggling financially and time-wise but all seemed to make allowances when another wife said, "I NEED this." Short on time and money but Christine is stressed about police, or Meri is struggling, they each get a mini vacation because "I need this" and everyone accommodates. And then Robyn uses the hell out of that line. Disproportionate wedding? "I need this." Unfair honeymoon? "I need this." First one to get a house in Vegas? "I need this" and so on..."I need this" was respected in their family culture but she completely abused it.
That’s so sad to think about M, C and J bring tricked like that.

She wanted Christine gone for sure and was willing to sacrifice the income that Christine brought in but I don't think she realized that Janelle would follow so quickly because now they have very little financial support, especially if Meri really has left. I do think they will look for otherwise to keep the show going and keep the drama going and Robin might actually be a believer. She's quick to spill the rhetoric and she had a real problem with the kids being in any other religion so she actually could be a believer. But even if she's not she wants more wives to keep the show and to generate more income but I think you're correct that she will be large and in charge of everything.

Agree 💯 Kody is such an active partner in Robyn’s manipulation. He would know she is manipulative and he is one of her pawns. His selfish nature compliments his ego, both dominating his behaviors and communication with his family. Robyn knows how to steer him. However the depth of her manipulation is just plain evil. She is not playing to satisfy her ego, she is playing to gain financially off the backs of the other wives and kids. Even her kids! Rewatching earlier seasons it's amazing to watch how Robyn and Meri played everyone. Robyn was just better at it

One would think if there was another wife potentially coming into the family at some time prior to the man marrying them, there would be a time when the wives would be given the chance to date as well before the final marriage. Robyn came into this situation and got Jody to actually marry her, adopt her children and get financially cared for without working at all. She positioned herself to be the head and well taken care for even being wife #4,
I don’t think people have a problem with the one to ones. It’s the fact that Suki is TERRIBLE at her job. She takes sides, says things as facts when it’s just BS and seems to not know anything about the Browns. The one to one interviews are great, they just need to get someone else, someone like you, to do them.

I could see that would be the case of Robin vs. Meri. All things purchased, regardless of name on documents, are part of marital assets. Depending on the state, she can not bleed a stone, if he takes a dump and is not making as much because no contract renewal, she can only receive what can be proven on income.

I really like your clear headed take on the situation. I don’t know why all the women commentators do not call it like this. Sister wives long ago appeared to be going the way of survivor. Really glad to hear an in depth, very clear headed account. Kody is very naive about what Robin’s motives have always been. Kody has become a bound and neutered man; he knows he has lost his power, but he is misguided by Robin on how he lost his power in his plural family. His other wives see Kody is blind to Robins manipulation, but they are gradually deciding they don’t have to allow themselves and their children to be manipulated and ruled over by Robin. His biological children no longer even respect him. No woman that really loves her husband would separate him from His children. Robin is no new type of woman, it is good to see a man that will and can clearly call out what is going on. Good job!

At one point, when Christine was almost out the door, Robyn was telling Kody to go spend the night with her, but to sleep on the couch, till he could get her to stay. Spend a lot of time there, but don't have *** with her. That's for ME was the understanding. If she leaves, she takes our money with her. Go eat dinner with her. Chat her up. Sooth her. Stroke her. Play a game with that kid of hers (whatever its name is). Just sleep on the couch. Just don't let her get away!
The Interviewer down right lied to Mary about the answers given by Cody Robin and Christine about Cody wanting to reconcile. It’s so frustrating to watch it!!!
The interviewer, Sukanya, did not lie to Meri. Suki did not know who was telling the truth and who was lying. She repeated what Kody, Meri and Christine had said in order to discover the truth. Like Christine, Meri knew nothing about Kody contemplating a reconciliation with her. Meri would have been the first to know about Kody considering reconciliation therefore Kody and Robyn are lying and Christine is telling the truth. Suki unveiled the truth to all of us.

She couldn't possibly be dumb enough to believe Kody, so is she simultaneously trying to get the real truth from Meri, while sounding like she's on Kody's side (so he won't pull the plug)? We've seen Robyn say what kody means is this... and she changes it to a softer word. Kody in season one said how Robyn said she didn't want to be a burden to the family and she was being helpful to Christine by being a stay at home mom. From the start it was obvious he was protecting Robyn. All the lots at coyote pass have either kody or Robyn's names on it. @@77andsunny so many times I've seen Robyn stepping on the other wives toes like when they talked about the kids choosing their church. I don't know how they kept from telling her it's not her place. In the book they said that ultimately each wife had the final word on her children. Kody should have had a private word with her from the start.

Janelle really wanted to be in Coyote Pass. It's so obvious that Kody didn't want anyone there except maybe him and Robyn. He's one of the worst narcissists I have ever witnessed. And his hair is disgusting. I think when Janelle realized that Kody didn't seem interested in her or Coyote Pass plus wanted her money, she was done.

As usual, Mr. James hit the nail on the head. They're both trash bags but at the end of the day it's Kodys own fault that he didn't take care of his other relationships with Jenelle, Christine, and Meri. If he wanted those "marriages" to work they would have. I'm also a fan of the one on one tell all style. I just hated the poor editing.
Robyn and Kody only *think* that Robyn is the best communicator. If she was such a great communicator, then why does she only have a good relationship with Kody, her kids and Mykelti? Kody likes that she defends him, period.
