It also depends on the type of cheese you’re using. Some cheeses melt better than other and an issue we have here in the US. Is that a lot of prepackaged cheese that you don’t buy in a block is coded with powder in order to keep the shreds or whatever from really clumping together a lot and that prevent sauce emulsification as well

If the donuts are chewy, you kneaded the dough too much. What makes them chewy is the gluten developing, and the more you knead, the more it does that!

I make Oreo truffles every year for Christmas and the center is Oreos mixed with cream cheese then rolled into balls and the consistency of those would’ve been perfect to roll out and also tastes much better than I imagine that did

The pine cones were supposed to go in the freezer or fridge to firm up, no baking required😁 Also, I'm almost positive the cookies she used were filled with a chocolate frosting (similar to an oreo) and sandwiched between 2 chocolate cookies, which is why i think she ended up with more dough than you did. I have been making the same """2 ingredient""" donut recipe for years. Instead of doing a glaze, I personally mix regular white caster sugar and ground cinnamon, then roll the donuts around in that. It's kind of like soft cinnamon pretzels, and I find caster sugar and ground cinnamon to be better cupboard staples than powdered sugar or butter. I also do it by getting a ball of dough passing it between two spoons to even it out a bit, then drop it into the oil still as a ball. It's then even easier to prep than if I had to roll out the dough, use a mould, etc. They do not hold very well over long periods of time, but if you are having a party and want some easy, homemade finger food, they are AMAZING. The only issue I have is that I can't make it too often because I absolutely always eat through an entire batch in one or two days. I do agree that they do not really resemble donuts, though.
