      @@kiarilubi Yes, I agree with that as well! :) I was just meaning that for some of the dishes that aren't inhumanely extracted, (such as like durian for example), is a treasured part of some cultures that's often labeled as "disgusting" by foreigners.

There is a difference between making a joke, especailly when it is mainly just a joke about it being alcohol and her issue with drinking alcohol, and depicting something that is a cultural food as disgusting, because it isn't something that is part of your life and refusing to try it. I hope that your comment was more of a "Haha" than honestly not being able to see the difference.

    Totally agree.I get the catchy and in your face 'disgusting' name, but I guess it's just for the shock value and as you said it can be offensive to some.       I'd call it "unusual food museum". It's just food people in germany don't usually eat on a daily basis. It's normal food in other countries and cultures.

      Weird also generally has a bad connotation. I was thinking “Intense Food Museum” might work, since a lot of what made these foods “””disgusting””” was a very intense taste and/or smell. I think “intense” would also retain some of that “shock value” attention-grabbing that “disgusting” gives.

    I appreciate you bringing attention to the name; it's not _really_ a disgusting food museum, it's just foods that are more common in other cultures. Like when you pointed out Vegemite being better with toast.... yeah cause that's how it's meant to be eaten. Not off of a spoon by itself by some over-acting American Buzzfeed employee, for the entertainment of RUclips. You can absolutely do that, but it's not what it was made for, like most of the foods shown in the museum.

      its not even that gross u put Vegemite on toast with butter and a tiny scrap of it not alot because it is salty americans r the ones eating food that has over 5 cups of sugar in it and its overly processed and u have to be a born and raised aussie to like Vegemite because u had it growing up in the country. they didn't sending it to other countries until americans heard that Aussies liked it and wanted to try other than that it is a aussie thing made in Australia idk what other nation had/has it other than us

      even with me from france like, the cheese they had is really good, escargots is not for everyone but in our country it's one of our cultural dish, foie gras is good too but we don't eat it like all years, only on chrismas and yeah the process of making it is cruel. I don't like the name of the museum at all, it can be offensiv to other country...

    When I first moved to Turkey I picked up a bottle of şalgam juice thinking it might be grape or some berry... I got back from a walk soooo thirsty and took a massive swig and the hit of chilli plus the intense savoury taste hit me like a TRUCK. Now I've lived here a few years I actually really enjoy the non chilli version, we have it between drinking rakı (aniseed alcohol spirit) and it goes together so well!

    one time at a kitchenware store I thought the pie they had was fake and poked it and my finger sunk into it… I felt so embarrassed 😂 Naomi touching the eyeball soup definitely reminded me of that

      I remember when I was young my family brought me to this huge party for their friend's 40th birthday and me along with all the other younger kids dragged there got bored and played hide and go seak since their home was huge.
      While finding a hiding place I found the birthday cake they were hiding in a guest bedroom as the surprise and thought it was fake because it this intricate sword fish cake that was meticulously airbrushed and so looked real.
      I poked my finger in it and quickly realized I messed up.
      The host eventually realized the expensive surprise cake was ruined and word quickly got out that it must have been from one of the kids. After being interrogated by the host I confused and began crying.
      Tankfully, all the other adults besides the host were drunk and just thought it was funny, but served me the piece of cake with my finger mark.

    In Turkey ( more specifically Adana) “Şalgam suyu” is very popular we drink it with kebabs and etc. the spicy one is so goood! but if you are not used to the taste , its a bit weird? I get it 😅

    Thank you for explaining fragua (foie gras) to your audience Naomi, it is extremely unethical and yet I still see many RUclipsrs say how they're about to try it for the first time, without explaining to their often young audiences what it is.

      @@miserabletry the world (meaning the people in it) can and will often hurt us and worse, other living things.
      The amount of litter I see thrown on the streets where I live breaks my heart, animals getting caught in tins.
      And our beautiful beach gets trashed.
      But don't get angry, get inspired to stay a good person and lead by example.
      I can tell you have a good heart 💖 don't let it get tainted.
      If people knew how they got their milk, the pain and suffering the cows go through for humans to receive it, I'm pretty sure (,at least hopeful) they wouldn't drink it (or they'd at least be more ethical) but I can't see many people driving to farms, meeting the farmers, seeing his cows live a good life etc.
      It is sad x

      Yeah i’m a French angry girl and I go search on google if it’s dangerous for the duck and they say “Les oies et les canards ne sont pas effrayés par le gavage. Il n'y a pas d'augmentation des comportements associés à l'état de stress. Par ailleurs, le taux sanguin de corticostérone - une hormone liée au stress - n'augmente pas durant la période de gavage.”
      so of courssss is not vegan but it’s not bad for the animal. They don’t feel stressed and they don’t feel any pain. Yeah you actually eat them (it’s obvious) ,but during this process of “gavage” it’s not painful for them. And I want to end by saying that even if you are a vegan you’re actually killed animals by eat vegetables or fruit like (I don’t know) avocados or apple because they actually need bee pollination to be able to bear fruit. ps: please take all your meats, especially your “foie gras” from a local and respectful farmer. And of course, when I say respectful, I talk about lets the animals lived they life outside , eat great food…

    I think they are not saying the food is disgusting itself but stereotyped as disgusting, as you said. For instance, the museum displays kit kats and other popular foods from different places with information that creates knowledge and interest.
    The place is already bringing awareness that foods perceived as “disgusting” actually have a lot of history and culture, and may not be as disgusting as they seem. That’s why I like the name. They draw you in, then prove “disgusting” food is cool.

    thank you so much for the animal cruelty warning 🖤🖤 i think the only truly "disgusting" foods were the ones with the insane cruelty to the animals. as long as the animals meet a quick end without trauma and torture i agree with naomi saying that they are more "interesting" foods for sure. I think respect for your food is incredibly important and I love how naomi shows us all kinds of foods with her inviting and open persona in her videos ☺❤

I suppose I should've mentioned how few that can be humane, as there aren't as many. if Im getting Tyson chicken I know there was incredibly inhumaneliving and slaughtering conditions. if I go to a local butcher/ farm where I know the farmers and have seen their farms and how they raise animals to have a life, I can personally feel better about consuming the meat. it's different everywhere and everyone has different morals in the matter, I never said there was no cruelty, I just personally believe it is done with more respect in some matters.

      I lived in Brisbane for a year two decades ago and I still love it on my toast every morning back in Canada. Waaaaay better than Marmite in my opinion.

      I personally prefer Promite but I do genuinely like Vegemite, so it bothers me when non-aussies eat it wrong; they have like cold toast with no butter and a thick layer of Vegemite, of course it’ll be gross 😂

    I'm from Turkey and my family says I've been drinking Şalgam Suyu even when I was 5-6 years old. I love the spicy salty taste with something simple in flavor to eat on the side

    Şalgam suyu is very known beverage in Turkey, i don't get why it was counted as 'disgusting food' while it wasn't nowhere near as bad as the other ones.Probably someone tasted it and didn't feel like it, cause it has some spiciness to it
