The candy isn't supposed to mold if it's sealed properly, you should totally message the brand and make sure they know either their vacuum seal failed, or one of their products expires such as edible gold. Totally not your fault. Candy doesn't need to be refrigerated (especially vegan geletan). But you should contact the business so they know so this doesn't happen to others. Love the video!

I'm Indian, AND IM SO GLAD YOU LIKE KALA NAMAK. It's literally translated to black ( kala ) salt ( namak ). And we looove it. You can try it on some fruits like watermelon too!

Those edible crystals (kohakutou) were a RIP OFF! I swear a few years ago I made my own batch of edible crystals (many more than Naomi bought) for only like 5 dollars. It’s literally sugar, water and agar agar. The only difference with the packaged ones is probably the artificial flavouring and the food colouring (flavouring is optional and colouring is unnecessary), and still if you add both it shouldn’t make it as pricy as it is!! Much easier and cheaper to make your own!!
it's also a very common elementary school project in my country. it teaches chemical reaction through crystallization to kids 😂 can't believe it's trendy now

I will say as someone who also bought from that same company Naomi did, it’s 100% not worth it imo. It’s a cool experience, but not worth wasting money on. I expected the flavors to be much better and was highly disappointed with how much it just tasted like sugar and agar agar.
I think the "crystal" candy is a known delicacy in many parts of Asia. In Malaysia it's known as "agar-agar kering" and it's pretty affordable to get a medium sized tub for it. Felt bad for those who are paying such ridiculous prices for a piece of it.

If you want the crunchy texture of the last recipe without the ridiculousness of the batter/ramen/having to fry it, I HIGHLY recommend golden gate grilled cheese. You make it just like a regular grilled cheese, but coat the outside of the bread with parmesan after you butter it. It's absolutely heavenly.

The scrambled tofu (bhurji in Hindi) is a staple in India. It's an alternative used by vegetarians and tastes absolutely delicious. We add more spices like chilli powder, ginger garlic paste, garam masala, etc to make it more flavour full. It is paired with bread and even stuffed in parathas. You should try the Indian recipe, I'm sure you'll dig it.
Edit: Apologies for using paneer and tofu interchangeably. I'm aware they are both different and didn't realise the typo at my end until I noticed the comments. Paneer is made with cow milk whereas Tofu of Soybean milk, and are both different inspite of their similar texture. I've tried both and they taste absolutely delicious.

Kala namak is an ESSENTIAL part of egg here in many parts of India. I was so happy to see Naomi use it because yes, it does make things taste more eggy

Kala Namak has sulfur (Schwefel) in it which creates the "eggy" taste. It's really crazy and I would've never guessed that a food's smell or taste can be replicated with just one basic chemical substance.

The crystal candies are actually a popular japanese dessert called kohakuto. Its made with agar agar + lots of sugar and flavoring. The outer crunch is due to the dried out agar agar and crystalized sugar from being left out to dry. They aren’t supposed to mold as long as its been properly sealed air tight. So it might be a packaging issue or their candies weren’t dried properly.

*very important* thing to know: if something has visible mold in it the mold is already EVERYWHERE in the thing, like bread, if there's a mold spot the entire bread is contaminated, so... maybe don't try to eat from the part that doesn't show mold either for yall's safety :D
Edit: apparently even though it is true for bread that if there's a mold spot it is likely entirely contaminated, it isn't the same for other types of food! I guess we gotta look for information depending on the type of food that has mold in it, it isn't the same for everything, so yeah be careful and maybe you can save some food that has mold in it :)

Like Marmelade when something has more than 65 Prozent Sugar its not really the Food thats molding its something like the Gold or liquid on its thats molding. On Bread thats right you shouldn't eat it but on this things or like Marmelade, nutella... you can just cut it off generously and everything is fine
@@tangerinemelon1578 in "Hartkäse" (so called in Germany) the Procent of water in the cheese is so little that the Mould only really slowly grows. Little Spots you can easily cut of but Big pieces not really.
but like with fruits i just cut away the moldy part and eat the rest if its still good. usually its not but sometimes the rest tastes fine
with bread that is absolutely true, but with something dense like cheese the mold does not penetrate through and it is safe to remove the visible mold and eat the rest

So interesting to see how other people make scrambled tofu :3 I just panfry it and add all the spices when it's golden brown with a splash of plant milk :) and if I'm very motivated I also add onions, tomatos and spinach lol (well I ALWAYS add tomatos cause it just makes it so much better). And I also add nutritional yeast for a cheesy flavour
tofu scramble lifehack: put in in boiled water and then soak, so it will be less bean-tasted and smoother :)

If you can see the mold on something it means it has overcome the whole surface! That being because micellium spreads from spores and humidity and it starts from the inside of the molding object, the mold you can see is basically the mushroom that the micellium is producing, so that directly means that if you eat the part thats "not molding" youre eating micellium anyway and thats not that good for your health.

That scrambled tofu reminds me of "Paneer Bhurji" an Indian dish which is made of scrambled cottage chese with veggies and seasoning, it looks exactly like that, and it tastes amazing, the non vegetarian version is "Anda Bhurji" which follows the same recipe but with eggs

The crystal candy could still grow mould if the humidity and heat was high. The gold leaf might be imitation gold leaf and therefore oxidised on/ in the crystal candy. And as others said, the Himalayan black salt contains sulphur compounds, hence the eggy smell. ❤️🥦
The jewel candy(Kohakutou) is good at room temp for about 2 weeks, in an air tight container in a cool area up to 4 weeks but it WILL get hard! Maybe it grew mold because it was stored at room temp for too long??
