Discounted and STILL Can't Sell... NEW 2024 Toyota Tacomas COLLECTING DUST?

  • Seriously, this blows my mind. The brand new 2024 Toyota Tacoma just started hitting dealership lots a month ago... Normally, whenever Toyota offers a full new redesign version of their trucks or SUVs, they sell in a heartbeat or are pre-sold for a year plus. I have seen several of you post photos of Toyota lots with several brand new 2024 Tacomas just sitting, often discounted slightly, yet not moving? That is wild. Personally, I think the Tacoma is a nice little truck. Sure, Toyota deviated from their core values and principles a little with it, but it's still a nice truck. I'm shocked it isn't selling like a hot cake, mainly for the sake of it being the "new cheese"... Are people not buying off on the changes Toyota is making as of late? People learned the hard way with the new 2022+ Tundra (myself included)... so I wonder if buyers are much more skeptical now? The quality is now questionable, being fully built in Mexico, the prices is much higher than the previous gen (WHY?), it's rocking a smaller displacement motor (which is a better performing platform compared to the NA V6 by the way)... but still a 4 banger nonetheless, that doesn't sit well with truck people.
Will this new 2024 Toyota Tacoma prove to be a flop after all? I know TFL Truck's little snafu didn't help anything. Will the reliability of this new platform prove lackluster compared to previous naturally aspirated examples? Let me know your thoughts.
If you haven't already, please consider Liking and Subscribing. Your support means a lot, thank you!

$43K OTD is fair, but gthen even that's slightly on the high side. In 2024 these trucks are listed for $50k+. That is a F&%K No price. They'll learn when they sit for 120, 180, 220 days... Most dealerships pay Toyota (or whatever manufacturer monthly) for cars/trucks. It's like rent, every car/truck that sits on their dealership lot, they are paying the manufacturer for it & losing money every time that payment is due onthe vehicle that they haven't sold....

Say it with me: STRAIGHT SIX, STRAIGHT SIX! Best configuration for any vehicle that has the space in the engine bay, which a midsized pickup certainly has. If Toyota was going to buck the EV trend the should have whipped up a solid I-6 engine, the run very smoothly, minimal vibration means long life and no need for harmonic balancers. Compared to a V6 you have half the valvetrain as well. An I-6 would make for a durable and dependable engine for a pickup. The Straight Six is also very scalable as well. Toyota could have done short and tell deck versions for use in cars, midsized and full size trucks. Same basic architecture could go in Toyotas entire front engine, rear drive lineup. For truck use a 4 valve SOHC would make a lot of sense, high performance versions could go DOHC.
