Easy smuzch fix🤣💪 great commentary on yourself 😂 that's what makes wanna watch better a man with a talent for vroom vroom machine's, thanks for making the video's 💪🇺🇸🤟
That actually looked like a pretty decent saw for a Craftsman. They're junk now, but back in the 80s and 90s some of their power tools were made pretty well.
i just got a poulan 3400 yesterday it's the same as that craftsman but i think craftsmans had more plastics cheaper components compared to the poulan. anyway this video will help me get it running again i need to order a carb kit and tune up kit with the tank vent and new air filter i don't think this saw has ran in at least 15 years because the old fuel smelt like turpentine and was very foggy so i wouldn't be surprised if there was water in the fuel. thanks for the video and great job reviving that old vintage saw that some shops won't touch.
Nice Job Brother It Seems Like Every 2 Stroke Service Order I Get Out of 5 Is a Customer Says “Tune It Up” Ticket and Only 1-1000 Is Average When Just a Tune Up Actually Is All It Needs 😎😀👍🏼
The saw looks clean for its age. HDC/SDC carb hi side check valve and related are not included in that kit anymore. If you need the parts from walbro its a separate order and another week. Thanks for the tip on the driver.
Good work Scott. I have a couple of those Craftsmans and a Poulan that style also. Heavy duty saws that do a good job in my opinion. Nice seeing you work on older equipment that most shops wouldn't even touch.

I was working on a Homelite Super XL and a cabinet screw driver made it much easier to remove the carburetor since Homelite decided to make removing the carb screws a PITA and screw (pun!) over people trying to remove them
My employer has agreed to let me hang a camera over the bench while doing repairs but hes not paying me to make youtube videos. Those kinds of shots require a lot of set up time and I wouldn't be able to do that while on the clock. I'm just happy to get the footage I do. Thanks for watching!
Interesting video. Had my screwdriver for years. Great tool. Was the fuel line black? Assuming this saw doesn’t have a purge bulb. They are great for checking fuel flow. Without it, what things do you look for? Maybe have one for testing? Install, pump into a container to check flow?
The fuel filter did not look that bad, but it did not do the job. Did it get a new one? Di ya know if it is OK to use the finer micron Husky blue filters on carb saws?
Yes it got a new filter. I'm guessing it would be ok to use a blue filter because there isn't anything different about the carbs that used to have the orange ones and now are supposed to get the blue ones. Otherwise they would have said, "use the blue filter and xxx pump diaphragm".
On the topic of different diaphragm materials, if a kit has both a teflon and a black rubberized material (neoprene?), is there any reason not to use the teflon diaphragm in a vintage saw?

Great fix Scott . That Craftsman looks alright 👍🏼
Thanks. Yep, pretty good shape for its age.

@CraigArndt Over the years there were probably a dozen different craftsman saw manufacturers.

2nd chance repair went well. Got to love the 2-stroke smoke. Laaaaaaater

That’s an HDB Walbro carb, has a circuit plate inside & choosing the correct gasket is important!
Yes it is. Thanks for sharing!
I love your videos. You do a good job buddy.
Thanks, I appreciate that.

When carbs need a check valve they usually end up in my "big bucket of carbs".

Another great one. Loved it.

Thanks. We agree to take on older equipment if we feel we can get parts or if the customer will accept patching it together with non OEM solutions.
@@TheGreasyShopRag shops like yours are becoming very rare indeed. Kudos to you guys.

Those screw drivers are super handy. I use a really long one for adjusting chain tension on older saws.
Micro screen strikes again!
Its amazing how often thats the culprit.
Hay how about throwing in a tune up under load at the end of some videos.
Thanks for sharing✌️

If they are clear and i can see flow then thats just bonus. Otherwise I just check they hold pressure.
Noice! Any idea what co makes these for Craftsman?

"Pulse from the crankcase" I assume you mean the downstroke on the piston?
And the upstroke. A back and forth pulse exerted against the fuel pump diaphragm.
@@TheGreasyShopRag Makes sense!
The cheaper the saw is, the more difficult it is to work on. Do you think it's just cost cutting or planned obsolescence?
I think cost cutting. Logically speaking, if I buy something cheap and it breaks, I don't buy that same brand the next time.
On the topic of different diaphragm materials, if a kit has both a teflon and a black rubberized material (neoprene?), is there any reason not to use the teflon diaphragm in a vintage saw?
Can't think of one. The rubberized ones pump good but don't like ethanol.
Could you help me find a funnel like that . thank you Jon
Google "radiator fill funnel". Mine is the Lisle 24680 but they also offer a clear one (which I keep as a backup).
