  • We reviewed the updated GMC Sierra Denali for 2022, a Professional Luxury truck for nearly $80,000. While this is similar to the Chevy Silverado, we detail the updates and some of the engineering that makes this a good option. We discuss how it compares to the Ram 1500, Toyota Tundra, and Ford F150.

Also dealer wants $5k market adjustment over msrp for a mid grade truck that is missing parts. That's over $70k! No thanks. "1%" I disagree ask any loan officer how frequently a $80-$120K vehicle is being financed - routinely. GM has done a brilliant job of marketing to the segment of society who can lease or use their truck for a business expense and tax write off. They've also done a good job of social engineering the public into believing that a grossly over priced truck is a professional calling card and tool of the trade - "professional grade" brillant. I know this though, when I hire a Electrician to do some minor electrical work on my home and he/she pulls up in a Denali, any hope of me getting a fair deal, rather than surgeon level wages, just went out the door. Additionally, i've also learned to hide any expensive toys from plane site when any tradesmen is on my property when a price hasn't been pre-negotiated.

Diesel in my area has become so completely disconnected from gasoline pricing - right now and for the last 8 months diesel has been an entire $2 more per gallon than gasoline. This thing would have to be getting over double a gasoline variant to make it worth it and 24mpg, while good for a truck, ain't nearly good enough to offset the massive price hike. F150 hybrid gets 24mpg after all.

@@FishFind3000 well to be fair it's $900 more than the 5.3, and still about $500 less than the 6.2L. With the price of 87 Oct being about $1.50 less than diesel around me that might be the winner when looking at cost. But you need premium for the 6.2 and that is only about $0.10 cheaper than diesel (again in my area). This blows both of the 5.3 and 6.2 out-of water for mpg. Total cost wise might be close to being cheaper than 5.3, but its a better buy than the 6.2 money wise.
You just have to ask yourself do you want the faster truck (6.2) or save the most money (5.3). I have driven all 3 and the 5.3 is not fun compared to either the 3.0 or 6.2. The 3.0L also makes more power up to about 3k rpm vs the 6.2. Just depends what you want.

That's because for decades pickups were considered tradesmen type vehicles, in the 1980 and even the 1990s pickups were usually either purchased by people who needed them for work in one way or another. Around the early 2000's though they started to become trendy to own which is why you have soccer moms with 90K crew cab 3/4 ton luxury trucks that they use to drive their kids to soccer practice in and maybe the grocery store once or twice a week. I get it, trucks are awesome, I've always loved trucks. But it was nicer when other people didn't, because when there's a lot of demand for something the price inevitably goes up.

It's 11 years old this year and it's never left me stranded and runs/operates just as smoothly as the day I drove it off the lot. The only thing I've done to it in those 11 years is normal maintenance and put a new belt on the A/C compressor. This is my first new vehicle but third over all "all of which were Ford trucks" and they have all been great vehicles and when the time come's I will not hesitate to buy another Ford pickup. Brand isn't as important as people like to pretend it is these days and yes I include the coveted Toyota in this argument. But generally speaking, take care of your equipment and it'll take care of you. Outside of lemons which all makes have at least 85% of cars I've seen people refer to as "junk" are only junk because they didn't take care of them, it blows my mind that someone will spend 30K to 80K on a new vehicle and then completely neglect taking care of it. For most of us, outside of purchasing a house, our cars/trucks are second most expensive thing we will ever buy, why wouldn't you treat it as such.

@@GhostOfRT300 I've owned 2 F150s and now a 2019 Trailboss. The Chevy is superior to my Last F150 in every way possible. The Chevy has far better steering feel and body roll control, EXTREMELY better brakes. The F150 had twin piston fronts it had horrendous brake drive , there was plenty of times I was worried the truck wouldn't stop. The rotors would warp after one heavy highway stop. In 4 years the rotors were replaced 5 times under warranty and once by my own money.
By contrast the 4 Piston fixed caliper on the Chevy stops amazingly well for a 5300lbs truck. Savagegeese failed to mention that GM uses Aluminum on every component that has a hinge, doors, hood Tailgate. My Trailboss is actually 400lbs lighter than my F150 was too. I have higher payload , more towing. The 5.3L gets better fuel economy and nearly the same power as my 5.0L was.
Drive any XLT F150 and Jump into an RST Chevy or Elevation GMC and any unbiased person right away says the GM trucks drive far better.

You can't get it FluidFilmed or anything either. Because if you apply any coatings, they will strip all of the wax off the frame.
Also, any time you lift up the vehicle, whatever spot of the frame you lifted from, will immediately start to rust when you drop the vehicle back down. I lifted up my truck with a jack, a block of wood, and then 2 folded up microfiber towels. When I dropped the vehicle back down, a HUGE chunk of wax stuck to the towel and basically stripped off.

I agree truck prices are out of control. They represent the high profit margin segment of many manufacturers. But $100,000.00 for a truck is pretty up there. You have to really know where you are in all this. I will never buy a full sized truck. I have no application for one. Expensive, hard to park in smaller places. Fuel economy though diesel is the only way I would buy it. Gas is insane. Luckily there are plenty of smaller more sensible vehicles to get if the full size truck is not your thing and you don’t feel like having your accountant have a seizure with the truck idea you might have. I love big trucks for what they say as an industry and what is it saying about society where the truck really is the lifestyle choice of the many. Correlation for why they are expensive and have so much luxury? And high costs. Of course. Any vehicle now is nuts. But trucks are the most serious money segment and the sticker shock will continue as demand and rarity keep going the way they are going. The world is not the land of plenty.
