The power went off in our town on Saturday. On Sunday I came home, turned my PC on and it said that the BIOS had been reset (even though I didn't reset it).
It was not an old CMOS battery. Anyway, I tried all the options in the Advanced Recovery Options and none of them worked.
Until I found your video and went into the BIOS settings and changed the SATA settings. it worked immediately.
Thank you very much! Now I don't need to take my PC in to the shop and pay lots of money, and furthermore, I have all my precious personal documents.

Previously, my Acer netbook experienced startup repair problems that kept repeating, many RUclips tutorials that I tried but all failed. and in the end we found this channel the startup problem was over. now my acer netbook back to normal can enter windows. If your cmos battery died it may have reset bios to SATA. But my pc never indicated that it couldn't find the files so I left it as set to default setting. After following every step I ended up not being able to access the command prompt or do anything beside reboot, including a bsod suggesting that i have a virus or corrupt hard drive. As last resort I went to bios and changed SATA to ATA. It gave me a very scary "are you sure? " warning. Minutes later I had my computer back and working perfectly so far. THANK YOU THANK YOU THE ONLY TIME I HAVE EVERY BEEN SUCCESSFUL WITH THIS KIND OF ISSUE!

Jeff. When I use the chkdsk c: /f /r command, it says Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Chkdsk may run if this volume is dismounted first. ALL OPENED HANDLES TO THIS VOLUME WOULD THEN BE INVALID. Would you like to force a dismount on this volume?
Answer Yes. Are you sure the OS is on C? It might be different then what you are used to in Windows in this special startup repair mode
@@jeffsbaker thanks for replying. It said C: and that's what I remember seeing before my computer started this. Right now though, I'm doing the Chkdsk. It's.......been going for a while. 62% on stage 5 of 5 right now.

At the end of all those numbers, it also says Failed to transfer logged messages to the event log with status 50.
@@Lulu-ex7fc If it has bad sectors then you will want to replace the hard drive. You should backup any important files. You can try copying the old hard drive to the new one using a utility from the manufacturer of the hard drive. Sometimes it works. But if it doesn't work then you might have to install Windows on the new hard drive and then copy your backed up data onto it. You might need help from a computer repair tech

😢. No bad sector in chkdsk. when I enter sfc scannow the message is "windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Sir please reply
You can open the CBS.log file that SFC created in Notepad. Then you can do a find for "Cannot repair" to see the files it could not repair. Then you can try to replace them or move them or delete them. You might need help from a computer repair tech. If you can't figure out how to replace the files with good copies then you might need to backup important files and reinstall Windows.
If you don't have Windows Installation Media then you can download it from a working computer at www.microsoft.com/software-download
You can also try Last Known Good Configuration by pressing F8 over and over as soon as you turn on the computer and then select "Last Known Good Configuration" when the menu comes up.
You can also try this command : Bootrec /rebuildbcd
Select Yes if it finds an installation. Reboot afterward.

Repair Your Computer option is not working for me. I choose it everytime and it just bring me back to Windows Boot Manager instead of System Recovery Options. Pls help

Startup Repair doesn't open for me. If i choose "Repair Your Computer" it doesnt put me into the Startup Repair thingy. It just puts me back to the selection of Windows Boot Manager Windows 7.

when i click advanced option the only thing that shows up is start up repair. I think i am using windows 7 not sure and its a old pc btw
Try pressing SHIFT+F10 keys together at that point and see if it goes into Command Prompt.

Try clicking on "Startup Repair" and then try pressing "Cancel" and then see if the Advanced Options gives you more options such as Command Prompt.
If that does not work you can try making a Windows Repair disc in a working computer with a working version of windows by clicking on START and typing in recdisc.exe and pressing enter. Boot the non-working computer with the newly created repair disc. You can also try Windows Repair from a Windows Install Disc. When it loads click on "Next" then click on "Repair your computer". Click on "windows x" under Operating System and click "Next". Then click on "Command Prompt" after noting the Operating System drive letter (Probably C: or D:)

The sfc /scannow "did not find any integrity violations"
You can try one last command in command prompt:
bootrec /rebuildbcd
After you select the Windows installation then reboot. If it still does not work then you can try a virus rescue disk. But you may need to backup important files and reinstall Windows.

@@jeffsbaker I'm not sure how to do a backup without having access to the windows interface, would I have to plug in an external hard drive and navigate using the command prompt? (Using cd, ls, mv, etc)

What if I only have the startup repair option then I press f8 tried the safe mode with command prompt it does not put me in the cmd just on the startup repair.

If you have tried all the steps in the video and it still won't start Windows correctly then you may need to backup important files and reinstall Windows with Windows Installation Media. If you don't have Windows Installation Media then you can download it and create it from a working PC at: www.microsoft.com/software-download
If you think you might have a virus then you can try a virus rescue disk.

If your problem had a cause about like incompatible driver updates then do F2 or what key it needs to open the advanced boot options after opening it up then choose thr option “ start computer using last known good configuration” then press Enter... I hope it worked for you
