not necessarily my dear friend. I run win 7 64 bit 2 GB RAM and the old Gateway is reasonably fast. The best you can do is not to allow just even one single and small file stored in your PC. instead use a USB. Reason why? your hard drive and your RAM will always be happy and feel so light so they will work reasonably faster. I keep all my info in three USB including working files, stupid videos and pics from cars, airplanes, etc. No chicks since my wife could go really mad. Back up? send to your self e mails with your info and storage the documents in it. simple and cheap. . I don't trust the cloud since I'm an old fart and that thing is kind of complicated to me. hope this will help. Kudos!

This is honestly one of the most helpful videos I’ve seen on RUclips. I’ve had my computer for almost 3 years now and would always install little games to kill time but eventually I started getting into pc games and I would just lose all patience when it started running slow halfway through my game and never knew why. Turns out all those little games I downloaded over the years were running in the background (some had a delayed startup) and were lagging my game big time! It is limited to 2 gigs ram and no way to add any more according to the owners manual. We just use it for basic email and maybe some RUclips videos and that is about it, as it really struggles with even these basic tasks. The portion of your video on choosing a power plan really helped - there was no "performance plan" available so I had to go through all of the steps of creating a new user defined power plan, going into all the settings to maximize performance as best as this old thing is ever going to do... And so in the course of watching and pausing this video as required, this tired old email laptop is suddenly running far and away better than it has in a very long time, so here it is 3 years later and your video is still helping people. ANOTHER THING Defragmenting your harddrive can significantly speed up the computer ;; simply type defrag in the startup and it should be the first thing that shows up.

@@unknownguy2092 No power option is part of windows or laptop and it doesn't affect your computer in any way and will actually boost it but I will suggest you not to use high performance (power option) when running on battery instead you should be always plugged into charger because high performance takes a lot power which will decrease battery life but when plugged in to charger you are go to go. Also check what graphics are you using and if you don't have graphic card or you have Intel graphics checkout RUclips how to set those for gaming .

if it's not the amount of startup programs, it's a sign that the HDD is dying, slow bootups and shutdowns, also defragmenting your drive can help if it's not worn out.

Tip: if you cant run the command prompt commands "as you do not have sufficient privileges or the disk may be locked by another process"- if you are an admin on the device you need to search for cmd in windows start menu, and click 'run as administrator'.

Ethan Weegee nothing wrong with 4 gb depending what your doing but if it slows down the more programs you run than yes. if you do use 4 you should use 32bit though unless your planning to upgrade

2:03 the problem is that some software may depend on a service, *even if they don't seem to be related at all,* so that's another reason to be careful when disabling services, that's why it's better to set to "manual" (just to be safe). There's a tab where you can easily see dependencies and dependents for whatever service you selected, I recommend everyone to take a look before changing the Startup Type. But Windows only shows services in that tab, not programs, so again you have to be absolutely sure of what you're doing. I wish Windows wasn't that much of a hell to manage service dependencies
On the battery for Windows 10 laptops, you can make it so when you plug your charger in it is set to high performance and when you unplug it you laptop set it to power saving or normal.

prawnz I use trash bin (it has this thing that detects if your hand is near it and if your hand is near the trash bin it opens)and it has a screen. so i managed to escape the detection screen and install windows 10. it quite slow

Upgrade to an ssd if you haven’t already
if it's not the amount of startup programs, it's a sign that the HDD is dying, slow bootups and shutdowns, also defragmenting your drive can help if it's not worn out.

Tip: if you cant run the command prompt commands "as you do not have sufficient privileges or the disk may be locked by another process"- if you are an admin on the device you need to search for cmd in windows start menu, and click 'run as administrator'.

RPYT'SWorld Lol my computer what we got in 2013 was used once and got left away I got it out and updated it and put high performance mode on and it’s now running really well it was expensive when we bought it back in 2013 one of the most expensive ones in the shop near me so it should run decently fast still

2:03 the problem is that some software may depend on a service, *even if they don't seem to be related at all,* so that's another reason to be careful when disabling services, that's why it's better to set to "manual" (just to be safe).
There's a tab where you can easily see dependencies and dependents for whatever service you selected, I recommend everyone to take a look before changing the Startup Type. But Windows only shows services in that tab, not programs, so again you have to be absolutely sure of what you're doing.
I wish Windows wasn't that much of a hell to manage service dependencies
....It isn't, as long as your IQ is not below 70 and therefore there is some possibility that you are actually using Windows 8 or later.

Putting it in the microwave an throwing said appliance off top floor of a high rise also fixes bad computers. Using high cliff edges just deeleets system32 which is bad so always use other method.
