not necessarily my dear friend. I run win 7 64 bit 2 GB RAM and the old Gateway is reasonably fast. The best you can do is not to allow just even one single and small file stored in your PC. instead use a USB. Reason why? your hard drive and your RAM will always be happy and feel so light so they will work reasonably faster. I keep all my info in three USB including working files, stupid videos and pics from cars, airplanes, etc. No chicks since my wife could go really mad. Back up? send to your self e mails with your info and storage the documents in it. simple and cheap. . I don't trust the cloud since I'm an old fart and that thing is kind of complicated to me. hope this will help. Kudos!

2:03 the problem is that some software may depend on a service, *even if they don't seem to be related at all,* so that's another reason to be careful when disabling services, that's why it's better to set to "manual" (just to be safe). There's a tab where you can easily see dependencies and dependents for whatever service you selected, I recommend everyone to take a look before changing the Startup Type. But Windows only shows services in that tab, not programs, so again you have to be absolutely sure of what you're doing. I wish Windows wasn't that much of a hell to manage service dependencies
This is honestly one of the most helpful videos I’ve seen on RUclips. I’ve had my computer for almost 3 years now and would always install little games to kill time but eventually I started getting into pc games and I would just lose all patience when it started running slow halfway through my game and never knew why. Turns out all those little games I downloaded over the years were running in the background (some had a delayed startup) and were lagging my game big time! ANOTHER THING Defragmenting your harddrive can significantly speed up the computer ;; simply type defrag in the startup and it should be the first thing that shows up.

if it's not the amount of startup programs, it's a sign that the HDD is dying, slow bootups and shutdowns, also defragmenting your drive can help if it's not worn out.
Tip: If you can’t disable a task and get denied to any type of permissions to edit the file, you can go to the control panel > programs > programs and features. It will let you uninstall anything without any type of border and then you can go back to the file explorer and delete the files.

@@unknownguy2092 No power option is part of windows or laptop and it doesn't affect your computer in any way and will actually boost it but I will suggest you not to use high performance (power option) when running on battery instead you should be always plugged into charger because high performance takes a lot power which will decrease battery life but when plugged in to charger you are go to go. Also check what graphics are you using and if you don't have graphic card or you have Intel graphics checkout RUclips how to set those for gaming .

Running an old Windows 10 laptop that is permanently plugged in to our bedroom TV via HDMI cord, and wireless keyboard and mouse so we can kick back across the room to view it's 1360cx768 output on our 50" TV. It is limited to 2 gigs ram and no way to add any more according to the owners manual. We just use it for basic email and maybe some RUclips videos and that is about it, as it really struggles with even these basic tasks. The portion of your video on choosing a power plan really helped - there was no "performance plan" available so I had to go through all of the steps of creating a new user defined power plan, going into all the settings to maximize performance as best as this old thing is ever going to do... And so in the course of watching and pausing this video as required, this tired old email laptop is suddenly running far and away better than it has in a very long time, so here it is 3 years later and your video is still helping people. maybe you think is a good tool to keep your mess together, but every time you make an reinstall, your HDD is crying, when it have to delete and write on the same track over and over it will in time get out of balance and make trouble, the best thing you can do, just like your home ( you dont push the dirt under your bed either) clean your computer the hard way, if you think it takes too long, well its because you dont do it often enough, clean your computer 1 time every week and you will have a pc that laugh every time you turn it on.
On the battery for Windows 10 laptops, you can make it so when you plug your charger in it is set to high performance and when you unplug it you laptop set it to power saving or normal.

Also, instead of reformat/reinstall, you can use the Reset option from Windows, there is one that conserve all the configuration and personal files, and other that clean everything (even with secure delete, in case you sell or gift your computer). It's faster and you don't have to mess installing drivers again (specially in tablets/notebooks which tend to be more tricky than desktops).
I love this film, watched it when it got released. It never gets old, but didn't like how it ended. If there's an alternate ending, it's got to be better than the one that got released. I really should check that out and re-cut the movie.

This is a comment youi left out. For those individuals who live near the ocean... where copper gets tarnished or corroded... you might consider taking all of the components out of their sockets and cleaning the surface on the contact components with an "ink errasor" to remove the corrosion. Then spray the component with silicone lubricant to help keep it from tarnishing. I have found that this solves many error issues, and larger issues such as components such as memory sticks not working correctly. I always do this before buying a new component. And if your going to go this far with fixing your problems, you might as well remove your CPU fan, and clean it out, and clean out your CPU heatsink while your at it. At this point... you will likely want to blow air into your computer to blow out all the dust. So many peoples computer just needs a good cleaning. That would be a good topic for one of your videos by itself. I have to do this often... and it often solves a lot of unsolvable issues.
@@wast4706 yes it does but I believe task manager has a visual glitch only. It takes one second to start showing the real CPU usage (less than 5% without anything running) and HWMonitor shows no peak.
I can still remember a little program called 'killemall' back in the days of XP/Vista I think it was? Once your computer was fully booted up, you just double clicked the killemall icon on your desktop and it shut down pretty much EVERY background process that you hadn't specifically whitelisted. Helped enourmously in speeding up those old operating systems.

I'm so amazed of the new technology. I jumped from 2010 $1200 setup to 2021 $1200 setup and it's unbelievable.
that high performance one makes a world of difference.After all this years we are still amazed by the incredible stupidity of windows default configurations, not even considering its unethical practices.

maz199 wow I tried and my computer is literally running as if it has 10,000TB RAM. It can even run GTA V at 110fps, it used to run Minecraft at 23fps. TRY IT GUYS!

prawnz I use trash bin (it has this thing that detects if your hand is near it and if your hand is near the trash bin it opens)and it has a screen. so i managed to escape the detection screen and install windows 10. it quite slow

Putting it in the microwave an throwing said appliance off top floor of a high rise also fixes bad computers. Using high cliff edges just deeleets system32 which is bad so always use other method.

I'm typing and watching this on my newer computer though but just wanted to see what shape my older computer was in since it was the one I used for my medical transcription business for the last 10-12 years! Running an old Windows 10 laptop that is permanently plugged in to our bedroom TV via HDMI cord, and wireless keyboard and mouse so we can kick back across the room to view it's 1360cx768 output on our 50" TV. It is limited to 2 gigs ram and no way to add any more according to the owners manual. We just use it for basic email and maybe some RUclips videos and that is about it, as it really struggles with even these basic tasks. The portion of your video on choosing a power plan really helped - there was no "performance plan" available so I had to go through all of the steps of creating a new user defined power plan, going into all the settings to maximize performance as best as this old thing is ever going to do... And so in the course of watching and pausing this video as required, this tired old email laptop is suddenly running far and away better than it has in a very long time, so here it is 3 years later and your video is still helping people. Thanks! :-)

RPYT'SWorld Lol my computer what we got in 2013 was used once and got left away I got it out and updated it and put high performance mode on and it’s now running really well it was expensive when we bought it back in 2013 one of the most expensive ones in the shop near me so it should run decently fast still

I just reinstall Windows every few months, that way everything is fresh and it's simple with Windows 10.
Computer yep same, have 2 partitions so i don't lose personal data and whipe it either every 6 months or if there is a problem that takes longer than a couple of hours to fix

maybe you think is a good tool to keep your mess together, but every time you make an reinstall, your HDD is crying, when it have to delete and write on the same track over and over it will in time get out of balance and make trouble, the best thing you can do, just like your home ( you dont push the dirt under your bed either) clean your computer the hard way, if you think it takes too long, well its because you dont do it often enough, clean your computer 1 time every week and you will have a pc that laugh every time you turn it on.

Also, instead of reformat/reinstall, you can use the Reset option from Windows, there is one that conserve all the configuration and personal files, and other that clean everything (even with secure delete, in case you sell or gift your computer). It's faster and you don't have to mess installing drivers again (specially in tablets/notebooks which tend to be more tricky than desktops).

This is a comment youi left out. For those individuals who live near the ocean... where copper gets tarnished or corroded... you might consider taking all of the components out of their sockets and cleaning the surface on the contact components with an "ink errasor" to remove the corrosion. Then spray the component with silicone lubricant to help keep it from tarnishing. I have found that this solves many error issues, and larger issues such as components such as memory sticks not working correctly. I always do this before buying a new component. And if your going to go this far with fixing your problems, you might as well remove your CPU fan, and clean it out, and clean out your CPU heatsink while your at it. At this point... you will likely want to blow air into your computer to blow out all the dust. So many peoples computer just needs a good cleaning. That would be a good topic for one of your videos by itself. I have to do this often... and it often solves a lot of unsolvable issues.

@@wast4706 yes it does but I believe task manager has a visual glitch only. It takes one second to start showing the real CPU usage (less than 5% without anything running) and HWMonitor shows no peak.

I can still remember a little program called 'killemall' back in the days of XP/Vista I think it was? Once your computer was fully booted up, you just double clicked the killemall icon on your desktop and it shut down pretty much EVERY background process that you hadn't specifically whitelisted. Helped enourmously in speeding up those old operating systems.
