*Click the "Thanks" button under the video to leave me a donation.* This video teaches you how to make a max stat early game ship that's upgradable as you level that lets you solo entire fleets of enemies using advanced techniques probably not intended by the game devs. These ships can be acquired and built the very first hour on a new character. You also get all the perks of using an anti-pirate ship. More info on how to get the starter pieces for the ship is here: ruclips.net/video/kYqQTCOuHjM/видео.html
Can we change all modules? Cockpit's, habs and others and same scare pirats? + my skills (for shield) work with profit with crew member with same skill? or useless to hold crew when all skills be maxed?
Tried this last night, it works really well. A few tips: 1) No need to slavishly duplicate this design, just keep your mass as low as possible and the 100/150 speeds. I kept the captain part, I used a better grav drive etc. 2) You can switch a hab part in place, no need to delete the old and insert the new: click to select the armory, press left/right and it rotates between captain, armory, control, infirmary etc. 3) On Xbox to do the reverse driving trick: boost, hold down right bumper RB and use your **right** stick to turn the view around. You'll see the speed at -150 and stay that way until you release the RB. I put the beam weapons on W1 instead of W0 so they fire with left trigger, makes it easier to fight I think.
The Mantis is actually the name of the vigilante who owned the ship. After hearing about this ship I didn't realise that myself until I was going through the secret base.
@@ClusterDSA Could be it was passed down like the title Dread Pirate Roberts in Princess Bride. Probably even inspired by the movie. The passing of a mantle is a common trope in literature anyway.
Great video! For the Razor Leaf, personally I switched to the Stroud cockpit (4 crew) instead of the C1 Magellan (2 crew). I also left the Captain's quarters so I always have a bed, and added a Workshop so I have access to the research, Armor, weapon, and industrial workbenches. Was able to run this with the same 100 mobility and 150 speed.
Even after watching multiple youtube videos on ship building, i was still confused untill watching this video! Thank you so much brother. You made a complex issue very comprehensive for me!
Just for your information ship terminology, front = bow, left = port, right = starboard, the back of a ship can referred either "aft section" or "the stern"
The fact u commenting on terminology I'm the game makes me wo dwr just how lost u get in video games lol all jokes aside tho that is actually rather neat I formation I did not know this myself
Wow! I am so grateful you did this vid. I'm just a retired grandma living it up playing video games and I do alright with combat but the ship to ship - not so much. I tried building other ships from other vids but still got stomped. I built this one tonight and .... drum roll... I obliterated like nine ships and no damage to me. You are da man! Thank you so much. You made this old girl's day for sure. I sub'd and will make sure my son, who streams, knows he's been one upped 🤣
Hey there! Another granny gamer here. : ) Always great to see folks our age that are still young at heart and having fun. My boys always got to brag they beat the bosses when they were younger...cuz mom got them through the tougher levels. Now, 20+ years later, it's the opposite way around. Well sometimes. Always grateful for those faster reflexes when needed, but still love a challenge. Sadly ship building is not one of them. Thankfully we have clever people who can make amazing, easy to follow tutorials to get us back on track when hitting a few bumps along the way. Really looking forward to my first dog fight in this smaller ship. The Razorleaf went from Great Dane size to Jack Russell. Small, but mighty. lol
29:40 you do not have to hold S to maintain your reverse speed. When you hit the thruster button whats happening is your basically turning off flight assist and your ship will maintain the momentum it has at that time so just hold spacebar and turn. Keep it held and you will keep your speed and just float away. The arrow keys allow you to strafe along the x and y axis
Push LS to boost, begin turn with RS, hold RB, point and hold LS downward. The timing isn't difficult, but you begin to lose momentum as soon as you start turning so dont wait in-between each action just do them in immediate succession.
There is a lot of Starfield junk on youtube but your videos are actualy full of useful information. Love the detail and the clear explanations - subscribed
I’ve learned so much watching your video, I followed it to the T. Not only did I learn more about ship building which I didn’t understand, I have a better grasp of ship fighting. Thank ypu so much for ypur video. You have another dedicated follower. My be 53 yrs old but I still love my video games ever since Atari came out new lol. Keep up the great work
Benji, the ship is indeed called the Razorleaf and it *belonged* the The Mantis - who was a bounty hunter. Well technically, a line of bounty hunters. You should read / listen to more of the lore in this game. You'll appreciate it much more. The Mantis has a great and interesting story.
I watched your previous video. I've got to say, I haven't played a game whilst watching a starter guide video for years. I normally just watch the video, pick up a few tips and then do my own thing. But that starter guide was perfect! It was so well done. Looking forward to this one when I get home from work. It's going to be another long night of Starfield! You've got yourself a sub.
Fantastic guide, followed the Razorleaf guide to the letter...took me about an hour cos it was my first time with ship builder. Got mission board quest that required going through Kryx first as I hadnt visited the star systems. Killed the 20 ship mob first time using your tactics, only had to boost away 3 -4 times and never lost shields at all. Magnificent guide!! Was Lvl 15 with almost exact same skills, maybe extra point in shields and Vasco in crew. Congrats on 100k subs!!
The ship isn't called the Mantis by anyone in the game. When pirates see you they yell "it's the Mantis!" because they're talking about you. It'd be like someone seeing the Batmobile and saying "it's Batman!". The Mantis flies the Razorleaf, so they get worried because they know the Mantis can wreck them. And Magellan is is pronounced "Mah-jellin", named after the Portuguese/Spanish explorer.
Excellent video. Thanks! To newbs like myself having trouble mounting the disrupter 3000 on the back on a PC - Use "R" and "F" to elevate and lower until you're able to get it to go green to snap down. It took me far to long to figure this out. :)
I watched in awe as you maneuvered components from place to place during the ship-building segments. Particularly since I could not duplicate what you were doing. After watching and re-watching the segments over, I finally figured out that there is a slider on the right side of the screen to raise/lower your perspective. Until I noticed that function, I was stuck. I suggest that you go into how to actually handle the manipulating of pieces for us peeps that overlook the obvious. I love your videos. You put a lot of work into them.
THANK YOU!!! I have been commenting on soo many videos from content creator that the first rank of Ship piloting just makes you more maneuverable. Your video is the FIRST i have seen that gives the correct information to the viewers. I totally recommend doing a ship combat video just to get the proper info out there! Thanks again for putting the correct info out there. ( ya, i know this one kinda is a combat vid inside a build vid) [Edit: Yes, it is totally easy to do on console]
Not sure if this has been said and not going through all of the replies. Thrusters on xbox are RB, turn is left or right on right thumbstick, reverse is down on left thumbstick. Hope that helps. If it’s already been said, sorry for the no reason bump.
This is awesome! I think the most important part of this video is the balancing of the ship making. All that supplementary information was priceless for me, thank you!
i followed your guide on my restart, by level 6 i was heading for the mantis. i did the ship build with 2 exceptions i still have the oringinal shild and reactor, the ship still works as you advertized. I am currently lvl 10, having made 3 levels getting the mantis, and made the 4th doing the first constellation mission, i elected to fight the 3 varuum zealot ships in that mission, was a slaughter! i never even lost shields and utterly destroyed them, i tried this before with the frontier and was instantly destroyed. so this is to let you know i appreciate your guide and it works even if your smaller than your build advertized
What a great video! I love your nonchalant, 'nothing can beat you, you've won the game'. And the storage ship, I was giggling the whole time, with the 1 engine slapped on the side. I'll build it, and I'll have to actually take off in it. I'd have expect it to scrape on the ground trying to get in the air.
great vids, I do have one tip: before landing on a planet you are farming, switch difficulty to Very Hard; land and exit ship, then change difficulty to Very Easy(this will increase the chances of legendary gear and exp gains and mods will be super easy to kill) ; Note, this works for each loading screen, so while in the location you rinse and repeat the difficulty change with each loading screen location within the areas. This will make the areas easier and more efficient with getting the best gear.
@@Th1sUsernameIsNotTaken There are no console commands on Xbox. If you're on PC why tf do you care what console players do. At that point just come to terms with people playing how they want to.
@@CAiNiAC I like how you're randomly trying to make it a war between what you play on lmfao. Idc what difficulty people play the game on. everyone enjoys different aspects when it comes to game. Just doesn't make sense to go through the effort of changing the difficulty to Very hard just to immediately change it down to Very Easy trying to get "easy" loot, when the game is an absolute breeze on Very easy as it is, so the legendary gear isn't really doing you any favors lol
Cheers homie. I'm level 48 with rank 4 in both starship design and piloting so I used a better shield generator and reactor to upgrade the Razorleaf, and I didn't tear it apart because I don't want to destroy the look of the ship for role-playing reasons, but I did use those weapons and remove the smaller engines and armory and I'm very happy with the result.
You can actually just dump all of your resources onto the floor inside of your ship and it doesn’t go anywhere, you just have to pick it all back up to get rid of it
Great guide for newbies. Thanks for putting this together - sharing with some new players I know. One note - The Mantis is the individual that puts fear in the heart of all space criminals and the Razorleaf is the Mantis' ship. The Mantis is not the ship. :) And please hit "T' to store all resources.
Once again, extremely helpful content! You are helping make this game less grindy!! Again, I am playing this for fun, not to challenge myself. LOL... plus, I am disabled and my hands don't work as well as they used to. That means my reaction time is total shit and I can't click or type (press keys) as fast as normal people. It made gaming frustrating for me because I would constantly die even on easy!! I know it may sound lame, but you have seriously made this a fun experience for me!! Plus, to me, this kind of "hacking" is like a game in itself to me! Your videos are me gathering intel and research to "win the game easy!" Can't thank you enough!
Pretty good Tutorial, thank for posting, If you roll Q and E when boosting away or while engaging your enemy in a frontal assault you will avoid most damage. Btw if you find the Ecliptic Battleship (LVL 40) get behind its engines to avoid its massive damage turrets, its a tough fight, since the captain keeps yelling at his crew to repair all the systems, its weapons range is impressive I was able to bring it down at level 20, sadly I was unable to test if it could be boarded, the ship itself is massive it would be awesome if it could be captured.
Leaving a general tip here: Fly to Venus and sleep 24h if you want 7 days to pass in other places to restock some loot chests etc. Also i suck at space combat so i saved up for Stronghold and now can afk while its auto turrets and lasers dismantle pirate fleets and have yet to see the 4k+ shield drop to 0 😳
OP is referring to a glitch where you can run under the map at New Atlantis, find the chests where the vendors keep their credits - especially the ship technician - and repeat for infinite money.
If I understand it correctly, the reason the docker would not show initially was because he had pre-selected a structural component to attach it to, (EDIT: I think you also need a full physical path from the cockpit TO the docker, and obviously there was not a walk-able path to a strut) and you can't attach a docker there. Same if you pre-select a weapon mount and then "G" to choose something to attach, it will only show you the weapons tab, because it's the only things that will attach there.
Before I ask you something, I want you to understand, that you make the most easiest videos to follow, and you are very pleasant to listen to. I followed your one video, took me several hours to be able to keep up with you, but I now have the Mantis. I started a little different, but I still have everything that you touched upon in that video. My only concern, that I wish you had it in Xbox, which is my main game. I do have a computer, I am sure will handle the game, but the cost is a bit much for me to buy the game right now. Xbox, its on Game Pass, so as of right now, I am playing it that way. In this video, you say you just play video games, well that's me too. I am 65 years old, retired truck driver, and since my wife passed away last year, I just sit here playing games. Keep up the great videos.
I'd love to cover the console side since that's the majority of the player base but I lack the tools to record console footage. It's on my list of stuff to figure out.
I'm on vacation in Italy, I am always looking for great videos like these when I have my poolside mimosa. 😁It gives me something to look forward to when I get back to texas and can fire up SF. Thank you for the detailed build!
I am in awe of your expertise in this game even with early access. Love your humour also. Excellent tutorial and editing. Its insane to me that you are not at 1M+ views.
I found the note while taking care of the spacers in the second planet, kreet, twice out of 2 games, on normal. So every time you kill a spacer, look for the note, it can drop anywhere. And in my first game, I found the note in 3 locations, so I had 3 notes at the same time for going after the mantis.
I followed this down to the T. Works like a charm… I do want to add… on the money chest part.. there is a set of stairs you can take instead of climbing the tree… you can also buy ships and take the money back. You can also alter the razor leaf cabs to accommodate a crew of 6 instead of 2! Oh and you don’t have to swim thru the water … you can go around lol
You mean the chest glitch under the floor? Just warp through a wall in a second no need to go a long roundabout way to get it: ruclips.net/video/X_vlJmjWUzg/видео.html
Great guide. Just found your content. As it happens I just got the Razorleaf last night, totally without knowing what it was. I’m still a little confused by the whole ship building thing, and hoping you have a beginners guide for that. Great content and looking forward to more. Thank you!!
They should really change it so that your cargo stays in the ship you have put it in. It's annoying when you pretty much need to fly a fat cargo ship if you aren't interested in building some container outposts. You could have industrial with your cargo and crafting and switch to gunships when going out.
Or wouldn't it be better to just build a cargo/command ship big enough to house your Mantis-fighter In? Take it out when you need to fight baddies, loot, or take over their ships for resale. Not sure if this is doable in this game but it should be.
Great ship build. Was stuck on a mission space battle with no way fwd and nearly gave up hope. Modified the mantis and destroyed them all easy as pie👍🏻
I followed this video with a few of my own modifications and it's great. I was clueless and intimidated when it came to ship building and mods, so thanks.
You go so in depth in all your videos and have figured out so much already. Thanks for sharing! Your one of the best it there for starfield I've come across. I'll be ship building tonight 😁
Hi SwoleBenji, I build my Mantis to your specs, and had a mission in the Kryx system. Took the Mantis, I renamed it Mantis, and got surprised by the pirate fleet and eventually got wiped out. Knowing what to expect I followed your combat tactics and I killed them all. Thank you very much for the video, it is excellent.
Its funny how I ended up with the razorleaf ship looking similar the only difference is 2 more engines 1 landing frame and ~1000 in shielded cargo. I love the guide and definitely doing the cargo ship similar with some personal changes. Great video, keep it up.
I was excited for the shielded cargo game mechanic but there's planets that don't scan (Forgot to program it in the game?) where you can vendor contraband with zero hassle.
@@SwoleBenjipretty sure that’s intentional. The den for instance doesn’t make sense lore wise (at least to me) but gameplay wise it seems too obvious to be an accident
@@SwoleBenji Yeah I did it for the case I forget I have contraband. But I am thinking on getting rid of it. I have a 17K cargo ship for materials and 2-3 more ships. Gotta redo my outposts for efficiency and scale. I am playing the game with the least amount of exploits so is gonna take a min to get to lvl 100 for all the perks I really want and need to min max efficiency on ships, craft and outposts. Keep it up. This game is way more deep. We just need to have an updated to bring more NPC to the outposts and possibly create a small settlement with NPCS living there or just coming to visit and leave after a while. I guess it will be too heavy on processing tho.
@@norske_ow3440The lore IMO is actually quite sound once the history of how earth is no more and the Universe gets populated. Society's underbelly would have as well exited and why the UC which was the Military seeded the Galaxy. Some folks, as it is today, will find the places off the beaten path to set up shop. Thus RP wise as long as the UC are looking the other way as the faction wars really decimated the galactic population. The weak part in the games start is our character having no real skills or ability despite having a trade thus why not start the new player on Venus with a cryo sleep of 2 years thus 1200 years given the Universe Time conversion. Would have been both lore and RP wise a far better opening to what is a great game
Thanks this helps a lot, the ship building is very difficult on a console so decided to switch to PC and your clear key usage is great. So difficult following some builds when they do not tell which key to press 😅
There was a certain part of the Ranger faction quest that I was unable to complete. I followed your vid, made some personal modifications to the build, and utilized your tactics. The whole battle was a piece of frickin' cake! The only damage I took was some shield damage on the initial run out and away. None of them ever hit me again. I've not only built my first custom ship, I can actually fight it effectively. Like and Follow. Thank you.
Thanks for the tip! I actually used some version of the "stop and turn around" from all the old fighter jet movies, but I was flying the Rambler which has 1 gun and comes pre-ganked on maneuvering, plus despite having the skill I never knew how to use thrusters😂
If you have the kids stuff trait you can get a ship from your dad, which has some very good components you cant get early otherwise. I think thats also a very good base to stat builing a ship like this.
Awesome video!!! Thank you so much. I was completely lost in ship modding / building. Following your step by step instructions really helped me familiarize myself with the system. Appreciate your time and effort.
Thanks man i was stuck in legacy end quest but after i did the modifications to the mantis like you did in this video i finished no problem you earned a sub
Awesome! Amazing! I followed your guide, (took several tries to learn controls) but I ended up with an exact copy of your guide. Thank you so much for helping others. Now, if I could only learn to fly the thing!
1 thing to note, maybe it changes with outposts, but if you make a storage ship you lock out depositing anything in your other ships until you go back to a technician. swapping ships auto swaps cargo.
Exactly and thats one thing that Bethesda really messed up in my opinion. We are allowed to own multiple ships - but we can only have one inventory... As soon as we get proper mod support: Remove the "homeship" function and allocate a seperate inventory needs to each ship we own. Then the option to "call a ship" needs to be added to the space technician or to the vending machine - and thats pretty much it. And maybe some additional menu were we can look up the exact cargo in each ship. If you need something from another ship for example - you call in the ship, take your stuff out, call your main ship again and done. That would be the dream :D
Exactly, why can't the inventory stay in the cargo ship and free up space in your main ship. Whats the point really of building more than one ship when the cargo transfer to the one you select.
Awesome tutorials dude 👌. If the inventory of the storage ship gets emptied everytime we change home ships then surely that makes the ship pointless cause the stuff wont stay in it?
Great guide! Will use this on my second character. There is SO much to do that i decided not to focus on ships or shipbuilding for my first play through.
I could barely find this video again after watching it, it did not even show up in my freaking played history. I hate when youtube screws around with content. Luckily I had texted myself the link as a reminder for when I am on PC to give this build guide a try. Anyways, THX for the info dude.
Nice tips on the thrusters, the game certainly doesn't bother to explain it to you! I'm going back through your videos to find out what I've missed (your outpost XP farm was the first I caught) and appreciate the effort you've been putting in. I'm finding myself using the Ares cockpit later on though (needs design 3) as you can have 8 crew without the habs. Means I can get an 8 crew, 30 LY jump range ship that doesn't go higher than class B. One thing I would recommend though - grab the Nova NG-6 bay as it has 2 underslung weapon mounts built in.
Thanks for this! Couldn't beat the UC ship battle during Legacy's End, made this ship and beat it in a few minutes with ease. I will name my ship the FAFO when I have time to give it a paint job.
I subbed about 90 seconds into the video when I saw you basically spent every waking hour of every day since early access to figure this out. Thanks so much mate. Hope you hit a 100K subs soon, God knows you deserve it! A couple questions tho: 1) You're not on Very Hard difficulty? I went to Kryx once. Grav drive got blown up the first second, I died the second 🤣🤣🤣 2) I have more, but worse engines on my ship and it's top speed without boost is around 148-149. Or so it says when I'm flying the thing. Its basically a better version of the Frontier that I built from scratch, but with 800 Cargo space and 80 mobility.
Toe Roy Doll, that's how that reactor is pronounced. Great video! I wish I had saw this when I was just starting. I bumbled around in the ship builder forever until I was almost lvl 40. 53:34 if you have your mouse over an area in which you can add a thing, the menu will filter out stuff that cannot be attached to that thing. It threw me for a loop forever but that's why it seems like the Docker disappeared, because you cannot attach it to the spine you had you mouse over.
Most of those 2x1 modules have alternate configurations you can just switch between rather than delete and re-add. Ex: captain's quarters can be turned into computer core or workshop.
I’ve largely ignored the PAR weapons, I tried this and now my cheap A class ship easily outfights my super expensive C class ship with a more traditional laser, autocsnnon, missile setup. I feel like they’ll end up nerf ing this in a patch, it’s kinda insane. Edit: Just played around with load outs on my my big class C ships, looking at the best weapons. you can get (I unlocked almost everything). There's literally no reason to use laser weapons right now. the Particle ones are so overpowered. In theory there's a higher damage laser weapon, but just barely, and uses more power and is short range. It would be dumb to choose anything other than Particle weapons at this point
The disruptor 3300 he uses in this video would the disruptor 3340 alpha beam be an upgrade over those? It does more bull and shield damage and a faster fire rate?
They won't nerf the particle weapons. Even if they do, there will shortly be a mod that puts them back. Rather they likely will beef up the lasers and cannon. They will most likely though not address the range disparity making it largely pointless. Or they will completely ignore the issue.
@@panpiper Saying you'll use a mod to "un-nerf" something is kinda besides the point. You can open a console command right now and generate 1000 med kits for yourself etc . etc.. I'm just saying, if you want to play the game at the difficulty it was designed, I think there's a good chance the dominance of PAR weapons doesn't feel like it was intentional (or at the very least very very poorly thought through). If anything the mod I might try is one that nerfs PAR weapons a little (for me and the enemies in game). At least it would make build variety more relevant.
For those who complains cargo being transferred over to the other ship. Well that is the play. Ships don't get encumbered so after you dump stuff to cargo ship and transfer to the other you can keep everything in that ship. Ship don't lose performance over their cargo. And running encumbered doesn't kill you at all, just leaves you with %10 hp
The problem is that if you want to store more cargo so that your character doesn't become encumbered you have to hoof it with personal atmosphere all the way on foot to your ship then grav jump to a place you can switch ships, that's what I'm pretty sure people have a problem with.
You say something about running over encumbered doesnt kill you, well i think everyone knows that but you can't tell me it isn't annoying to have to constantly use personal atmosphere any time you need to run anywhere more than 10m away from where you're at.
I appreciate these vids but gotta say - putting it on 1/2 speed so I can follow along - the slow mo voice gives me space dementia after following along / rewinding a few times hahaha. Got it built tho ;)
I want to but I feel like they completely negate the entire game since it makes you rich and levels you up beyond what the game intended. I'll get around to it eventually but I wanted to cover builds and damage stats for a bit first.
A webnovel i used to read. Called the Legendary mechanic. Thought to himself in passing, how he missed gunfire and explosions going off. Because he was isekai into the game, before the release date. before that, the game was a few years into it and by then. Players had these massive fleets. And they'd use long range laser weapons. So, it would make sense to fly away and get some distance while attacking.
Cool video. I'm already level 39 just by playing the game (quests and looting), but I've still learned something, thanks. But from what I can say, constantly having a full inventory (either in the ship or in the character) and constantly having to change ships because you can't do two quests in a row will probably annoy 90% of players after 2 or 3 hours. My solution to this problem is that I built a huge ship that offers plenty of space for cargo and crew. Then 4 PAR auto turrets and a good shield. You could call it an aggressive cargo plane XD.
Mantis is a callback to the Mandolorian and his ship the Razorcrest. That's why it's called Razorleaf. Also, you didn't show the magazine in the break room at the simulator. It's 5% missile damage.
I was very sceptical about this but then i tried it... i play on hard difficulty and i was dying against some crimson ships. Did this build and i destroyed them in seconds. Pretty cool, fast, deadly and silent.
This guide was legit. I can't even figure out how to do the "J-turn" to speed backwards but it's not necessary. I've taken out every encounter in my way thanks to this and will be absolutely using it in NG+ that I'm starting today. THANKS! One question though: after destroying the pirate fleet I wasn't able to dock with their station. I hadn't tested elsewhere but does this require a different dock in order to complete, or is it mission related? Just hoping I can still board ships, etc.
I thing You must do 2 missions first to be able to dock at the Kryx pirate station and in order to unlock them you gotta get arrested with kontraband...
This helped alot! I couldn't figure out building until this video! I modified my mantis :) used same weapons as yours but added more storage and stuff thanks
Thanks for the grate info! I modded the Mantis ship following your instructions. I ended up changing a couple things because I did not like having to climb a ladder after entering the ship. I moved the flipped the landing bay around and moved it to the back of the ship. This let me run straight to the cockpit after entering. I did a couple other small changes. The speed and important stuff is the same as yours, so I did not mess with any of the important stuff. I have not built the large cargo ship yet.
You dont have to manually enter the ship, normally you can fast travel to the cockpit or select cockpit option in the door menu when you go up the ramp or exit a docking bay.
I used to get frustrated being a space pirate and having contraband but if you get out your seat before they scan you, you can jump down to where ever you want bit of a time glitch if you don't have time to fight or cant be bothered.
You absolutely can safely finish the flight sim. There is a slight dialogue change but you can repeatedly level security, targeting, & piloting after finishing the max level of the sim.
Thank you this was super helpful. I struggled trying to build and learned a few new things watching. Ship itself doesnt look that hot so I hope you have more vids on building a sexy looking fighter ship :D

You are on point my man
Now you tell me!! haha May look into making those changes myself now that I have this done

That’s how I used to refer to diff parts of your motha

I'm not even sure it's possible on Xbox controls since boosters are toggled with L-thumb so sounds like this is a bug with the controls for PC only.
@@JodouTR what button engages thrusters on console? Cause you don't need to boost to fly in reverse. It just helps reaching max speed
@@nzungupumu1350 Boost is press left stick, press again to cancel. Thrusters are hold RB

There is a lot of Starfield junk on youtube but your videos are actualy full of useful information. Love the detail and the clear explanations - subscribed
Spot on.
Yeah, just figured this out today suddenly and I have had the game since early access. lol
This is by far the best video online on how to upgrade your ship easily and cheaply
( ya, i know this one kinda is a combat vid inside a build vid)
[Edit: Yes, it is totally easy to do on console]
Just an fyi. Andreja particle beams is NOT the ship buff perk. It’s the regular weapons perk. Barrett has the ship particle beam perk.
Earned my sub! I was lost on ship building having just started Starfield the other day so this helped wrap my head around ships.
This only works for equipment laying around, every mob you kill will only roll the loot after you killed it.
@@xwf80legendary mobs have higher chance to spawn the higher the difficulty and don't unspawn when turning it back down.
If you're playing on Very easy why tf do you need to try and cheese zones just to get top tier gear? lmfao.
At that point just use console commands.
@@Th1sUsernameIsNotTaken There are no console commands on Xbox. If you're on PC why tf do you care what console players do.

Thanks. Needed a mule for outpost farming and wasn’t sure how ship building worked. This was a great little how-to guide!

Auto turrets fire by themselves? I thought they just fired faster than the ones not labeled auto.

You are absolutely right. This is without a doubt the best ship I have in my fleet.. And it got even better after a hit level 25 and ship design 2...
Took me 4hrs to do you're starting guide. So worth it.
@@jawnTem This, yes exactly!

Your video just made my favorite ship a true killer. So, when the Pirates see the Razorleaf they beg for mercy.
Honestly your vids on Starfield are the best ive seen, particularly your last one before this, huge thank you! Keep it up mate!
As soon as we get proper mod support:
Remove the "homeship" function and allocate a seperate inventory needs to each ship we own.
This is sick man! My strategy was to just spam ship parts and hope for the best haha. I'm definitely gonna try this out!
Great guide! Will use this on my second character. There is SO much to do that i decided not to focus on ships or shipbuilding for my first play through.
For real
I just built two ships like you said. Thanks BIG TIME buddy! 😊😊😊
17:09 is such useful information..man gamechanger
Thanks for this! Couldn't beat the UC ship battle during Legacy's End, made this ship and beat it in a few minutes with ease. I will name my ship the FAFO when I have time to give it a paint job.
I subbed about 90 seconds into the video when I saw you basically spent every waking hour of every day since early access to figure this out. Thanks so much mate. Hope you hit a 100K subs soon, God knows you deserve it!
A couple questions tho:
1) You're not on Very Hard difficulty? I went to Kryx once. Grav drive got blown up the first second, I died the second 🤣🤣🤣
2) I have more, but worse engines on my ship and it's top speed without boost is around 148-149. Or so it says when I'm flying the thing.
Its basically a better version of the Frontier that I built from scratch, but with 800 Cargo space and 80 mobility.
I manipulate the difficulty for loot so I swap between very hard and very easy.
This is such a good tip, and when I figured this out, it saved a lot of time reconfiguring my ship!
Wow!!! I have not played the game yet, and just colecting info for now. This is what I was looking for. Thanks a lot!🙏🙏🙏
Literally the best, highly underrated
I think you are a great source of information. Experienced talk. Thanks so much that I offer this comment to feed the youtube algo.
I appreciate these vids but gotta say - putting it on 1/2 speed so I can follow along - the slow mo voice gives me space dementia after following along / rewinding a few times hahaha. Got it built tho ;)
WOW man! just WOW! well done! Your videos are soooo informative dude! please do one on outpost building.
Thanks for this one. Found it really usefull. Please continue making this kind of indepth and detailed videos. All the best.
You can't make those ships early game and I don't recommend making a "one size fits all" ship till level 60 when all the upgrades are unlocked.
Mantis is a callback to the Mandolorian and his ship the Razorcrest. That's why it's called Razorleaf. Also, you didn't show the magazine in the break room at the simulator. It's 5% missile damage.

Good stuff here. Very helpful. Shipbuilding has got to be the best feature in starfield!!
I did something similar except that I used a more powerful grav drive and added two more fuel tanks so that I could go anywhere in a single jump.
Great build for the Razor-leaf!
Tried it out and it pwns!
Thanks!
What @mikekemp786 said. Your character becomes the "Mantis" like becoming Batman, and the Mantis' ship is the RazorLeaf, like Batman's Batwing.
"SCAN THAT SHIP!!"....*beep* *boop* "Oh my God, its the mantis! Power level over 9000!!!"
26:10 Pressing in Left Stick, at least for Default controls.
Looking forward to testing this monster out 👍
Btw, you can use the simulator at any time. Even if you are already a full fledged vanguard, you can still go use it
Yeah but some people don't want to be vanguard at all and were worried you were signing up for a faction they don't agree with.
@@SwoleBenji I'm just saying, if people are vanguard, and have already done the test, its not too late
The ship is called the Razorleaf, the person that flew it was The Mantis. They are calling you Mantis not the ship.
I renamed the ship to 'Mantis' to clear up any confusion.
I used to get frustrated being a space pirate and having contraband but if you get out your seat before they scan you, you can jump down to where ever you want bit of a time glitch if you don't have time to fight or cant be bothered.
Just go to Wolf (The den) and sell it there with no scans.
No one in game calls this ship Mantis. They call the character Mantis.
You absolutely can safely finish the flight sim. There is a slight dialogue change but you can repeatedly level security, targeting, & piloting after finishing the max level of the sim.
very nice build - even on very hard it was easy to kill the ships at Kryx
Such a convoluted way to store things in this game 😅 I wish the cargo holds were independent per ship
Thank you this was super helpful. I struggled trying to build and learned a few new things watching. Ship itself doesnt look that hot so I hope you have more vids on building a sexy looking fighter ship :D
