Back in November I bought a 2015 Nissan GTR with about 20k miles on it. The car is stunning. I've driven a bunch of exotics from Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes AMG GTS, but every time I drive my GTR i have way more fun in then I do the other cars. The speed, the comfort, the reliability is amazing with this car. Be careful with an 09 purchase, but if it's been treated well, you should be fine!

And let's just say u do choose to grab it and keep it for a few years you'll be looking to get rid of an 09 in 2020. Great looking car. Rock the beam, sell R8. Remember you make the car ,car doesn't make u !
Every car has problems. I bought my 09 about 2 years ago and the only problem i had was a sensor in the transmission that went bad. Other than that ive added a bunch of bolt-ons, it takes E85 and its tuned 650+ hp. I love it! Its a rocket. You can practically maintain it yourself if your handy.
I wish I could take back my 10 minutes that I just wasted.
I now have depression and wasted 10 minutes of my life

Dude! I am absolutely a GTR fan! In fact I own one! LOVE everything about the car. On that note - Don’t trade your 2018 BMW for a 09 anything! Transmission problems? Yes! But it’s not worth it! It’s not a car you can drive every day!! I mainly use mine for car shows. Stick with what you have now. You will thank me later! Anytime I have the urge to get a car - I rent it for a few days and see if it’s something that i REALLY want. My two cents.

Which car has transmission problems? Jw
I own a 2010 GT-R. Take it to Nissan and have them do a PPI. Have them check to see if it had LC1 installed. LC2 fixed the issue of hard 4,500 rpm launches that broke the transmissions on the 2009's. 2010 had LC2 and Nissan flashed the 2009's to LC2 as well. Have them check to see if it was launched with VDC off and how many times. Other than this, there is nothing wrong with the 2009's! This one looks to be in excellent condition. Find one that is mint, stay away from ones that are abused. As far as fixing a broken trans, they can be fixed or even rebuilt for under $5,000 or so at Jack's or you can upgrade for far less than one from Nissan.

I still own mine I have a 2012 gtr and let me tell you I regretted purchasing it, at first because insurance cost me $5200 the first year plus the car payments but man did I grew into it and now it's the best thing I ever purchased. I love how ppl envy me haha but if I was you I'd still get it. What I do know is that there was sum defects on on those year models on the driveshaft but that's a quick fix. Every car always has something that can go wrong so don't let that stop you from getting it! Just follow on the maintenance regularly. No Hesi Bro!!!
Dude I have an 09' and the insurance for me was like $410/mo plus a $670/mo car payment before I could refinance. Absolutely insane. Have you had to do pads and rotors yet? Ran me about $1400 in parts.
And here I am sitting here with my 2011 r8 having zero issues, and having the most fun I've ever had with a car. Interesting

09 was the first year of the GTR, and obv there will be quirks with the car that are refined as the years go by. that being said, the car looks to be in great condition, it even has the 2014+ headlights which are expensive, so based on the history of the car, it could potentially just be a steal of a deal waiting to be picked up by someone.
09 was the first year for the US market.
R35 had been out since 2007 in Japan.

For what it's worth, the car is indeed beautiful, but you need to think so. It's a super late comment. And probably means nothing. But for future reference.

GTR won't cost you that much to maintain. You can find a lot aftermarket parts online. I have a 2010 Porsche Cayenne GTS and you can't find any parts at Autozone because the GTS packages are specifically designed by Porsche racing team. I just replaced my front brakes for $2000, a side marker light bulb for $128, drive belt for $890, oil cooler seals for $1200, and oil change for $500 (due to dry sump system).

It’s a great buy bro! Now they do have transmission problems but it’s mainly on luck 3 of my friend have GTR’s in that year all three havnt had any issues (hope not to jinks) they own them until now. Well one of them sold it and go a van. But cost on fixing the Trans is around 2k. Anything some other issues are recalls so they can get fixed in the dealership.

Go to kbb, then check to see what they go for on auto trader. Compare to asking price. Get a legitimate mechanic to check it out, hell take it to Nissan. Never pay asking price when it comes to used cars/trucks. From there its on you. If u have to have it and can comfortably afford it, buy it! No hesi...
New sub... Love your attitude towards everything. I’ve been a mechanic since right out of high school. Worked on everything from high end muscle cars to Cummins diesel. But fell from 3 stories Aug 7th of last year & broke my L4, both femurs, both heels & pelvis. But I aspire to have a channel or blog or something in the automotive field since I can’t really climb under cars anymore. Location plays a major part in how someone can prosper. Living in the Midwest, specifically Wisconsin atm, has put a huge hinderance on being able to further any type of career in Automotive whether it be a journalism part or behind the scenes... I think I had a point somewhere ☺️ Since my accident it’s opened my eyes as to what’s out there. Idk why I launched into all that... but in answer to your question. I personally wouldn’t spend close to 100k for a Nissan. I’d go for a Porsche 911 GT2 or GT3.

2009 Were the first model year for the GTR so they have major flaws you should be concerned about, transmission being one of them. You’re better off looking for 2012-13 and newer. Currently you can find other clean ones that haven’t been abused. From one automotive broker to another you can definitely find one newer with around the same miles maybe a little more for around the same price range. If you have auction access you’ll see what I’m talking about, if you don’t then I can show you a few screenshots to get a better idea of what’s available.

The 09 Had trans issues, but not abroad. There are a lot of 09's with 100k+ Miles that have been whipped hard and the Duel Clutch's still break nice with the tranny. It's all about what car you get, if the prev. owner took care of it, it could be a good thing and a bad thing. On one hand it's in good condition but on the other, it's never been put threw the ringer so the transmission hasn't been "tested" so to speak if you know what I mean. Me personally, I love the 09 Body. It's my favorite year (Besides the 99' R34 Ofc) but at the end of the day it's up to you on what car you get. I'd say go for it honestly, it's hard buying expensive cars, always afraid of the "what ifs" but , you know, No Hessi. Goodluck bro.

The transmission problem is a factory fault, not specific to the older models, also the 2017-2018 GT-Rs has the same transmission problem.
A GT-R specialist mechanic can easily fix the transmission problem with good quality aftermarket parts for relatively cheap.

2013 best year you can find, best updates, and most aggressive factory tuned ECU mapping. Staying away from the first generation GTRs.

the money you save over a 2013 can easily be used to repair and upgrade an 09 if needed. also plenty of newer models have trans issues too they are not immune to breakage, and then what? you spent extra for a new model and then might have to spend more to fix it. best to just buy whatever you can afford really.
Hey whats up bro, i had a 2009 gtr when it came out back then had it for 5 years never had any problems with it but it was because i only put 4000 miles on it, i had it in a showroom in dominican republic i did modified it to 700hp yes i drove it hard never got a problem, but my friend had a 2009 gtr at the same time and he would basically daily it and drive it hard and had an alpha 6 i think he changed his tranny like at least a good 6 times, i wouldnt recommend you buy it, if i was you i would enjoy the beamer and save up money for a 2015+ gtr. At the end of the day ur gonna do whatever u want but im just giving u an honest opinion from someone that has been there a couple of times!

Yoshi is right about the trans in those year ranges. I want a '13 for the 545hp and you have a more sound trans. The next major issue is the hood. Cross winds at high speeds(180mph+) the hood will launch from the latch. I'm not rich in no stretch but it's my dream. The next thing is maintenance is crazy expensive. The fluid change is $5k alone

I own a black edition, any car that costs a lot will cost a lot to repair if anything breaks, it's really up to you to get the car because no matter how much you baby that car, if something does break, you gotta be willing to cough up a few thousand. I remember racing mine in the street and put a lot of tear on the engine and had some repairs and it costed a lot just for a repair and touch up, and if it was broken I would have had to pay more. So it's really your preference and how much you love the car. I personally have added $30,000+ with modifications cosmetic and engine upgrades so that my car can last more if I plan to push it.

Nice idea and video i would get this car but aim for 2013 model, if I could afford it perhaps my next car is a GTR. It is a problem when certain year models have issues I’m looking at Celica GTs and the 00-02 have oil burn issues for example which is annoying.
