Honestly, I love this interpretation of Otis.
He's often depicted as a child like and friendly guy, but this captures that along with that feeling of Otis being an absolute badass. I love it.
The Black Ops dude was nuts, just like how they were in the games.. Perfect.

This has enough cartoony and cheesy lines that it his that 12 yr old nostalga but has the quality and production value that the adult me really enjoyed. This is really well done!!!
The actors are French given American dubs.
Tbh I love how people take half life and give a story to every random dead or "passed out" people that you can find in the game and it's amazing and it make the half life universe so unique and alive it works with mods as well

The best live-action Half-Life fan film. Brilliant directing, fantastic camera work and props and costumes. The actors are actually French, but given American voice overs. The Tau Cannon/Gauss Gun prop and effects are amazing, and I love that the Black Ops villain made the mistake of overcharging it! I also love the death by barnacle. Great zombie too.
Would have liked to have seen a few more seconds of the action that we briefly glimpse at the start, where he's fighting alongside a squad and there are Vortigaunts shooting lightning. (Then again, the fact those first glimpses of action are so brief does a good job of getting across the idea that it was chaos.)
Everything looks and feels authentic. Nice choice giving the Black Ops the silenced MP5s, while the soldiers get the assault rifles seen in Half-Life's High Definition Pack. (I wish the actual game did it that way!)
This is a wonderful homage to Half-Life and Opposing Force, as well as the Black Mesa remake, by a fan who notices all the little details in each game, and who also knows how to tell a good story.

I love how campy and over the top this is, it's hilarious. Definitely maintains that 1998 Goldsrc engine feel.

Otis actor hits the spot. I like the attention to detail in wardrobe and props.
I remember watching this, Otis is by far the best character in the Half-Life Series. I’m sure Valve are creating Half-Life: Otis for VR.
I love how the black ops are exactly as how I imagined they would be if the Black Mesa incident was real.
Love this film! Little nitpick at 8:32, Black Operators wouldn’t wear any sort of emblems like U.S Flags to identify themselves. I don’t think CIA Operators would even dare wear the U.S Flag upside down, let alone just wearing it in the field. But all the aesthetics and special effects are awesome!
That, plus Black Ops were almost completely silent, especially when in combat. Like the HECU, they'd typically use gestures to signal to their squadmates. But unlike HECU - as I said - they were silent and didn't use radio or vocal communications. Even when killed, they barely let out the slightest of grunts. I read one fanfic before, where a Black Operator that was stealth-killed via Crossbow deliberately put his hand to his mouth to muffle his own dying cries. And that part clicked with me just right.

The end sequence reminds me of the radio duologue they added into the black Mesa remake where the marine is saying he can't find his IFAK as he's going into shock, he presumably had his first aid confiscated when he was captured and he left the black Mesa one behind in the fight with the headcrab zombie, I don't know if it's intended but I think it kind of makes this feel like it fits right into the cannon

It was from the perspective of a security guard fighting the HECU, started with the security guard clutching a wound and you hearing “don’t shoot we’re with the science team” before a scientist gets shot.

Wow, just brilliant! Great props and costuming, but the tie-in at the end (the FIRST end!) to an actual moment in the game just frosts the cake! Nice little bit at the end-end too, as we see the beginning of the end . . .

One of the best Half-Life 1 live action film I have seen on this platform. The acting is cheesy but in a good way and it fits the Half-Life style pretty well.

Wow I’ve seen a lot of underrated stuff on RUclips but this takes the cake. Every little detail has charm and this is hands down my favorite fan film ever.
while the blood is obviously ketchup and easy to realize, using a turkey for a headcrab (and having it crushed so it doesn't look too obvious) is pretty smart.

How would you react having a gun pointed at ya? It's pretty damn scary I'm sure. So yes, point it at his face.
If I am not mistaken(I am not a military or police person) but at that distance the bullet might go through anyway. I mean the muzzle flare alone would probably significantly weaken the surface of his helmet, and the impact that that distance might break his neck. I wouldn't feel to confident with just about any gun that close to my head.
@@KillerKrieg Actually. Someone did test various calibers up close, and only once he took a large caliber rifle would it then penetrate all the way trough the back.. 45ACP, 9mm and 357 was tested as far as I remember.

Why am I just seeing this now! Amazing work, you guys perfectly captured Half-Life with all it's charm and cheese. I love the attention to detail too, accurate firearms and props, I cannot imagine a full studio being able to pay such an homage to their source material truly a fan film.

This is Half-Life at it's peak. It's cheesy, it's campy, but it takes itself seriously just enough that it wraps back to being AWESOME!

Obviously he was determined, and maybe delusional due to being in shock from his injuries. Though I am a little irritated as to how his torso wasn't showing any visible injuries, nor was his armored vest damaged in any way from the explosion of an energy weapon like the Tau Cannon!

1:22 did u put the filters in that because im 99% sure that the m10 gasmask filters contain asbestos
edit: looking at the footage i see the caps are screwed is which tells me u had the filters instaled.
S_VB are you sure? Most of the filters for those model masks basically stopped low threat level gases like tear gas. Lots of Russia’s masks were prone to the use of asbestos.
Also good luck installing the filters.
@@gasmask7064 i know how bad they are to install i have one (the m10m version). i have removed the filters on mine and put them in a airtight plastic bag just to be safe (cleaned the mask afterwards)
@@gasmask7064 and about the asbestof thing just dont risk it as u said Lots of Russia’s masks were prone to the use of asbestos. and the asbestos is in the particle layer to stop particle's like dust and teargas (which is not a gas)
