This was seriously well made. Most horror focuses too much on what you see rather than what you don't. Everything was well balanced, did not feel like a RUclips video at all.
It’s why the original Jaws worked so well and the sequels not so much. Budget restraints means you can’t spend too much on practical and visual fx, so instead you have to focus on mood and storytelling.
Still do this day one of the best SCP short films, right up there with Dollhouse and 096. Makes me really want an anthology series that documents various SCPs. I definitely recognized that scene with the black and white helicopters along with making the soldiers be white dots. There’s only one person who can do that so well.
Jump scare is a cheap way to scare people. Imo it can't really define horror in the truest sense of word. The art of horror is about building tension and suspense without letting it go just to give a shock through jump scare after. This is especially true for novels or any written stories; impossible to utilize jump scares.
That's just it. I think I've said before that jump scares are cheap. Look at old horror movies, they would often build up a creepy atmosphere of suspence. Establishing that takes more work and I think can be more effective than just throwing something in your face. That's not scary. That's just startling you. I think someone once said "If I run into the audience and tickle you, does that mean I'm funny? "
Only recently discovered the SCP universe, through The Exploring Series channel on RUclips. Binged the SCP playlist. Trawled the site. This short captures the tone so well. Not to mention the quality, all the small details and hints, building of suspense, sound, literally everything, perfect. As a completw newcomer, amazed at what the SCP community has put together, and this is some high level stuff which deserves more funding. So much solid content, multiple series and movies could be crafted from all this material. Just amazed at what has grown out of a simple 4chan post with an open wiki project and an organically formed community. 👌 👏 😍 👍
Love the detail on Kulinski’s gun with “Not Yet Lost”. He’s a Polish operative (from the patch on his helmet). One of Poland’s mottos (and the title of its anthem) is “Poland is not yet lost/dead”

I especially like how one of the operators got mad for killing an anomaly because their job is scp. Im glad they remembered what their job was and not going in like the GOC
I would so love to see the GOC in one of these. I always love the interaction between the SCPF and the UNGOC, especially if they are of the non-hostile variety. They have an interesting dynamic with how they are *technically* on the same side, but use different methods and thus often come into conflict.
An interesting premise for a future vid would be to follow both a SCP & GOC squad going after the same anomaly. It would add some contrast to the experience. Easiest would be more SCP injuries/casualties but potential to salvage something valuable and/or avoid unintended side effects. Best with complex anomaly where GOC seems to be better at first but non-obvious major effect is missed by them because of their simplistic approach. Maybe GOC first contact with SCP follow up?
An SCP show could be one of the coolest anthology series to ever exist. There’s so much potential and so many perspectives they could change it up with. The show would be so dynamic. Some episodes with MTF, some with the researchers, others with D-class, some with civilians. Fuck if nobody makes an official show it will be such a missed opportunity

This is what horror movies should be like this. Jumpscares are good. But this genre of horror movie with no jumpscare but constant paranoia is awesome
Yeah jump scare are soo scary its now boring
But horror movies without jump scare
Have more action and more scary (some how)
Jump scare is a cheap way to scare people. Imo it can't really define horror in the truest sense of word. The art of horror is about building tension and suspense without letting it go just to give a shock through jump scare after. This is especially true for novels or any written stories; impossible to utilize jump scares.
@@user-no9he3po1t the fear of a sudden jump scare is better than an actual one
@@al-aminmohammad7574 that is called terror my friend
That's just it. I think I've said before that jump scares are cheap. Look at old horror movies, they would often build up a creepy atmosphere of suspence. Establishing that takes more work and I think can be more effective than just throwing something in your face. That's not scary. That's just startling you. I think someone once said "If I run into the audience and tickle you, does that mean I'm funny? "
