@Jardani Jovonovich Metropolice are human, they can take the suit off and still decide their own actions, any higher ranks have been augmented so much they are at best a biped/humanoid (describes body shape, not humanity) with no free will anymore (brainwashed). To put it bluntly, high rank earth combine _are combine_ because of the augmentations, combine do this in all worlds they visit, proven by the fact they have dropships striders etc that are augmented creatures from other worlds.
I mean theres even canon lore about how metropolice can earn the right to get their freak on (this is mentioned by the overwatch system) but higher ranks cant because they (a) no longer have reproductive organs & (b) they dont care anymore, all the higher ranks care about is serving the combine, as they are now part of the combine.

Just for anyone wondering, what he's doing is something called "loadclipping". Basically the game has a bit of code that says that when you load a save and you are inside an object, you oughta be moved a little to another direction so you don't become permanently stuck. However, this lets you clip through entire walls and level loads in certain areas if you purposely trigger it in certain ways.

You're the combine soldier, on high alert due to the chaos of a man moving at speeds unrecorded. Suddenly, two distant explosions are heard in the distance, one closer than the next. A single second apart. The Strider patrolling outside opens fire, the same sound you're used to hearing thousands of times. It stops. And then, something collides with the floor in your building. You grab your weapon and turn around, expecting to see an alien creature. You see a man in an orange suit barge into your room and, without hesitation, unloads a slug into your chest. As your dying, you use your last gasps of air to look at the man who moves too fast to comprehend. He walks into the table, vanishing from sight...

Having nearly 5000 hours in garrysmod the trick he did with the Airboat was actually to cause a forced removal of the airboat which every now and then gives you noclip for some reason, especially if you did it during the startup animation. It was an exploit in Garrysmod servers for a long time to give yourself noclip this way even if it was not allowed by the server operators. At the end, he used a barnacle to un-noclip himself because getting tounged by a barnacle probably changed his movement type from MOVETYPE_NOCLIP to something else, likely MOVETYPE_CUSTOM. Upon death the barnacle would probably reset your movetype to MOVETYPE_WALK which is the default movetype for the player entity.
He does this in all likelyhood because noclip has a max speed and reverse bhopping is way faster.
Man, it's actually kind of cool that for once in my life I can look at a crazy moment in a speedrun and know exactly what the hell just happened.

    • @Ankanogradiel
      @Ankanogradiel 4 года назад +103

Yes that's a forced airboat removal like you said. Since you seem to know about it, it would be a shame not to give you more info.
In reality noclip is given to the player as soon as he enters any vehicle (I assume this is some countermeasure to stop calculating unnecessary collisions or something).
When you exit a vehicle and delete it before the exiting animation is over, the method for handling vehicle exits for the player is never called.
Thus you are left with noclip, BUT there is a twist.
In reality we don't use it to get noclip, noclip is just a side effect. The airboat left us another valuable gift.
What we really make use of throughout the run is the fact that Gordon's havok hitbox has been "turned off" (masked to COLLISION_GROUP_IN_VEHICLE) ever since he got in the airboat, and never got turned back on.
Havok hitbox is the hitbox used for vphysics collisions (props, bullets etc) and quake hitbox is the one used for the world collisions - also responsible for fall and explosive damage I believe.
That's the reason the player can pass through walls - like first seen at 14:17 - if he jumps towards them while holding a prop: basically because the hitbox for calculating prop collisions is turned off so it passes through.
This comfy bug lets us pass through walls while also being able to damage boost, thanks to the game using hitboxes from two different engines for different things. Neat huh?

They'd just use previous versions of the game if they tried that though. Troll comment, but easily worked around. xD

This is saying a lot about the HL devs mentality, it's pretty horrible.
Their first though is always "let's dont allow that, let's remove that etc...".
They would prefer to redo the game without any physics, even if it means killing the fun and the enjoyment of the game, just for their little egos of dictatorship.
They can keep HL3, it's gonna be a disaster

I wonder if that one person in chat managed to open his jar of salsa. He gave up on opening the first one and went for a new jar. Dude has been struggling to open two jars of salsa while watching this record.
EDIT: 38:26 Yep, he got it opened and he's proud.
23:05 - Start of the struggle
    24:14 - Gets a new jar
25:37 - Tried other jars maybe?
