- Bet you never thought this would ever actually surface!
Unforeseen Consequences was getting a bit long so I've opted to split this into several parts. Part two has been animated fully and will be released as soon as the audio engineering is done.
Future parts and episodes will be animated and released only if my first Patreon target is reached for reasons that I have discussed in my Patreon announcement video and on my blog.

I love how realistic freeman is, he looks just as desperate and worried as the scientists trying to survive.
@Cabbage he means the reactions dumbass... Not the movement
i love when you say "i love" word
He is far from gorgeous freeman
grey home. you really are fucking dumb
@grey home. you're a dumbass + scumbag ass
I like how Gordon is portrayed as a real person in this situation and how they would actually react. When we play the game we don't think about that we portray Gordon as this bad-ass Scientist with a PhD in Alien Ass-kicking who just doesn't give any fucks but in reality He would b just like any of us, vomiting at the sight of fellow Scientists crushed in an elevator accident.
He ain't the SLAYER
he's cool like that.
I would believe that he'd be that way, being the "badass with a PHD" towards the end of Half Life 1 and the entirety of HL2 and its episodes, where he's been completely desensitized to violence and the horrors of Xen.
Notice his jaw trembling before he vomits huh
@@p_filippouz I'd say he is arguably at least some what up there towards the end of the game or at least Half Life 2.
I don't care what anybody says about the animations,
This was made with someone's bare hands and I'm glad for it.

@@dumbautisticmutt I'm gonna use that roast for now.
The elevator crash scene, I used to laugh my ass off at the corny screams and ridiculous explosion. Here, it is presented in a whole new light and has me feeling sad. Amazing.
I still laughed at it. Shits funny
I also find it a bit more realistic how Gordon gets glass shards wedged in the side of his face considering he was standing right in front of the doors.
hmm, yes. death is funni.
I live for this series now.
Musetrigger relatable
U r ded
This has to be the most human I've ever seen Gordon portrayed. I REALLY hope you get enough Patreon support

Agreed, that was totally Lamar! He had a bunch of time to kill down there so he de-fanged it in his spare time 😎

Walk cycles, the death of every animator. I know that struggle, but you're doing great keep up the good work Pinwheel!
So many walking scenes must be detrimental to the flow of animation, which makes me think he's most likely doing it for artful reasons. For instance in the previous episode, animating Gordon walking up to the test chamber's ladder and proceeding to climb, must have taken many hours. A lot of that could have been cut, yet, it does add to the building suspense.
This was awesome man! Glad to see the Half-Life community still alive
heh still alive
Exploding Barrels Productions Im *GlaD* we agree... :)
Venomous Entertainment i'm agree too! This is not a lie!
I'm making a note here, "huge success".
I want some cake.
When you're dead it'll be still alive
I love how you made Gordon feel human. He has a lot more life and emotion in him than what you see in game. Keep it up!

Oh-
I genuenly got lightheaded when Gordon took the glass shards off his face
Same, I also felt that.
i really like the fact thet you make gordon look like he is very scared and nervous
Actually yes, that makes him more human like us. That he also has fears. And not another superhero who has nerves of steel
How come Gordon never has to pee?
+Bolloxed I'm going to say his magical science suit.
Also HOLY SHIT IT'S BOLLOXED!
he never sleeps also. :) never has to eat, or rehydrate... :)
its called the hev suit has a pee and shit system it was put in at mark 3 it releases the piss and shit every 30 kills Gordon gets
+Malavek is he though? I've enjoyed hours of playthroughs without irritating commentary
*She, actually.
this is really really good. while the specific details of the animation are a little bit stiff, what those animations convey, combined with the stellar cinematography and editing really get you into gordon's head without him needing to say a word
Great animation. Would you consider adding the HEV suit voice to various things Gordon goes through? Things like "Blood loss detected" or "Minor lacerations detected" etc when appropriate. In my opinion it would add to the immersion.
+Benzzodude I have a couple of moments in mind where I'm planning on using it for dramatic effect, yes...
Pinwheel Arts Excellent. Regardless, can’t wait for part 2.
Could make use of some unused ones like "antidote administered "
.

Unforeseen Consequences can never be as severe as Full-Life Consequences
Full-dead*
Even the relationship between Kleiner and what I assume is to become Lamarr is well portrayed. I love your work, pinwheel. The amount of humanity you have imbued into Gordon, from fear to pain (especially with the glass in his face) is amazing.
Gordon was a trained professional from Black Mesa. But I always wonder, even to this day...why Gordon never had access to the retinal scanner????
Yeah!
ACCESS DENIED
Because of the system crash remember? Since he was late, he didn't have time like other scientists to get put back into the security system.
*point insertion*
It was his first day on the job also supposedly i dont think he was even in the system yet
kyle the dued lol alrighty 🤷♀️🤦♀️
anyone else love the face Eli makes when Kleiner says "My, You're a cute little thing arent you?"
He's like: Wtf Kleiner?
This animation is where gordon is like an actual person. Can't wait until it comes to the parts where he's battling a whole fucking army. Don't stop I wanna know how this is gonna end because this is beatiful
Man, this is probably the best thing I've seen in SFM in a while. You've really improved a lot. The camera angles in this part were really well done especially at 2:06. And that intro, my God. I forgot I was watching an SFM video for a second. It was so well done it looks like something from an offical TV show. The animation is still a bit jittery but, that's to be expected with SFM. All I gotta say is, keep up the great work man.
@YayDude123 oh shut up, let someone enjoy stuff for once,
Without forcing them to think like you
You really did an amazing job here ! This intro was awesome and you really did a great job at representing how a normal human would react to all this gory. Also the close-up on Gordon's face when he takes the shards out or is attitude after seeing what he has done to these poor scientists trapped in the elevator. No really this is just fantastic !
I love how humane Gordon is, his expressions, acts and body language makes him so real, I LOVE IT! I'm already hooked on this, so I dearly hope another episode soon!
3:26 how Isaac got met his pet headcrab

‘How i met my headcrab’
The blood effect is nice. I can't wait for part two
I really like how we see Gordon as much more human.
Only missing the armor system advising the lacerations on Gordon
Freeman: Only human, after all...
Watching the opening credits for this it felt like something out of a TV show. Very well done.
Being awake for 23 hours + no peeing , drinking or eating + Always Running (in-game)
Damn.
HEV: blood loss detected.
I can say your animations aren't 100% perfect, but the editing and creativity you have... Are the best (to be honest, the part where gordon took off the glass shreds from his face surprised me)... Can't wait to see the next episodes and see you getting better and better! Keep up the awesome work ya doin there! :D
Definately getting the "Gordon will need a lot of therapy after this" vibes. And i can read what he's thinking while he doesn't even say a single word! Good job!
This is exactly what Valve didn't want, and I'm so glad it's been made.
Sfms like these are always gonna be heald close to my nostalgia core. The effort put into these shows, and the jank jus makes it more sincere.
This reminds me a whole lot about a project I was going to do some time ago, but unfortunately lacked the artistic talent to pull off (even to the title itself). You've done a really good job so far, doing what Valve never did with Gordon.
Giving him Character.
Occasional wonky animation notwithstanding, that was some pretty impressive stuff. The elevator sequence was well done. And that intro is just bad-ass. Keep up the good work!
Would’ve been nice for the HEV suit to make some noise when Gordon got hurt.

@@yamatoingramtv2285 inaccurate, it calmly says: emergency, then loudly says: USER DEATH IMMINENT
Three years old but, I think the suit is designed to give that sort of feedback in a neural interface where only the user can hear it.
I'd love to hear the intro by itself; it sounds very awesome!

I love the fact that Gordon has glass in his face that is the biggest detail I ever seen
I really like how vulnerable Gordon comes off as here. You really feel he is an ordinary person who's been thrown into a nightmare.
Also, I like to imagine that Freeman is an actual mute and that's why he never talks.
The animation may not be the smoothest, but for sure there was effort and love put in making it a very enjoyable experience and one that makes me want to watch more.
You never really think how dark that day at Black Mesa was.
So...... that headcrab is Lamarr in HL2 right.
Possibly the same head humper, yeah
Cola BotelsOVA No, a head humper is a Jockey from L4D2.
@@randomboi6350 "head humper" is not a scientific or technical term. Both headcrabs and jockeys are called head humpers. It's like calling you an idiot, but then someone else says "no, he can't be an idiot, because someone else is an idiot."
@@kulkan1 no, im an idiot
Yes, that is intended to be Lamarr. This appears in Black Mesa, the redone Half Life 1 aswell. That gives backstory for Lamarr and why Kliener loves him so much.
i really love the small details you guys have put in certain scenes, like the blood in the observation room, when Gordon realized whats happening and vomited (really shows character). i saw the first episode when it first came out, and after seeing this? im really hyped for part 2!
7:18 that will leave a scar...
0:00 omg man imagine Half-Life as a TV series that's amazing
this is fucking amazing
the first time ive considered supporting someone on patreon
broooo the amount of terror and horror in gordon's eyes just in that short bit where he had t crawl under the desk that was spilling down blood like rain... you could just tell he was panicking but also resigned to it, so well animated
Is he's going to be without the helmet? You can make him carry it like he did in the poster for RTB, and it would make your job easier by removing some facial expressions in the moments filled with action. It can work, so as both versions are officially canon. Yeah, nice work! Take any time you need to release another one, better wait some time and get something, rather than have a rushed one. Yee.
I love the idea of having a little animated series of your own. I don't care that the animations at times might be a little unnatural, the most important thing is that it's fun to make.
I head j j abrams wanted to ruin HL with a "film" (or what ever that man call his shit), and i feared that there would be no way to stop that mad man from ruining stuff i love.
But Pinwheel, you have the power, you are the chosen one.
Make us proud Pinwheel, as you are, you doing good!!
The gory take on it, and the shocked reactions of freeman is fantastic, i love it,
and the fact that you creeping so close to the events of the game, fitting in the dialog so it sound so natual.
I'm very interested in if freemans gonna remain completely silent, personally i'm not against him saying something at som point (maybe not words) i just mean i buy that he's a man of few words, but would someone really be able to get a job if they never spoke a word?
The only thing I can be critical on, is the movements like the hands and stuff, but of course i know that because limits you ain't really in control of.
But i just feel a need to say it this once, as to point out how perfect this is, it's like a scratch in a golden lamborghini, like -0.0001 one a clear 10/10
Landing this on a 9,9999/10
But im gonna round down to 2 digits anyways.
My god, keep up this awesome work.
Sincerely a big fan of HL and now also your work.
I love how you gave Gordon emotions in this.
0:28 g-man destroys the camera. you know the resonance cascade was his fault, because he brought the xen crystal.
RJ Joson he wanted it to happen
I kind like intro music it really best
I'm enjoying this in so many levels. animation is awesome and body language is really convincing.
much detail, much wow. Love it!
3:27 *GORGEOUS FREEMAN FLASHBACKS*
Mocapped or not, this is a FANTASTIC series and I love it so much. You've directed it extremely well - very natural character reactions and interaction.
The animation needs some fine-tuning, but apart from that, I think this is my favourite portrayal of Dr. Freeman.
A lot of people portray him as stone-cold and a bad-ass (he still is the latter), but in this, he acts a lot more humane.
He's scared, he's worried, he needs to stop a bit now and then to assess the situation and has no idea what's actually going on. Kinda like how you as a player felt the first time you played the game. Like, instead of portraying him as the character, you're portraying him as the player, if that makes any sense.
I love it.
I like how specific that Gordon Freeman lost his helmet. If only he had a helmet, the head crabs aren't allowed to attack him.
I watched anamalous materials an hour before this was uploaded..
Coincidence?
no fate :D
i go to the channal everyday i checked it an hour before upload and ppl think im crazy checking every hour

HLAMBDALF LIFE
I still remember how the first time playing HL in the late 90's I ran straight into that exploding electric cabinet thing 2:23 ... Was so thrilled at the time just running amok and instantly get flattened by a friggin box.
This adaptaipn makes you understand why Freeman doesn't speak. There are just things better left unsaid
I love how you added the humanistic detail of Gordon vomiting after the elevator plunges. Because that is typical real life reaction for most people when they understand they just caused the death of another human.
now heres my comment after watching the video i really love what you have done with everyone making kliner look like he is going to have a panic attack Gordon's reaction to the glass in his face and him throwing up after witnessing death for the first time he looking away from the body with that thing in his eye i loved how you gta 5 it in the control room lol this was worth the wait even tho it did not fell like it before this released but thats because there was only 1 ep out thats the hardest time to wait for something
This is incredible... the fact that you haven't gone over the top, yet still managed to capture the sense of catastrophe and crisis perfectly is amazing. It doesn't feel like some far fetched video game or film where were following some hero through his journey... it feels like Gordon is just an insignificant man who can die at any moment same as everyone else and its brilliant. It camouflages his plot armour which adds even more to the environment by making it feel that much more dangerous. And capturing all of the the gritty horror and life loss with great visuals and audio really shows just how much of a blood bath Black Mesa really was... not just some play ground for an extraordinary specimen of a man to go jumping around in.... great work my guy, please PLEASE keep up the good work, with this series
P,s incredible work bringing Gordon to life with his facial expressions, body language and actions. Giving him humanity and personality. In the game hes just a soulless husk for us to drive... but seeing this makes it look totally diferent. You actually make me feel sorry for him cos any number of things he goes through in this episode alone could push someone to breaking point or give them PTSDs... and again you've captured that brilliantly.
8:00 Definitely an appropriate reaction to killing someone on accident... 😫
That Elevator scene with him throwing up at the end was an amazing touch. I fuckin love this.
7:23 I feel that...
wow this production quality just took a leap! a very pleasant surprise
This may have been poorly animated, but how you pulled off the concept alone was so cool that I just couldn't stop watching. the first two minutes of Anomalous Materials put me off, but now I'm gonna give it a second chance. hope you get keep it up and get better!
I love that to get away from the first zombie, instead of just going through the open door, he busts through the window like a wrecking ball
I love the emotion Gordon has, without even speaking. It makes me want a full length movie of Black Mesa!
I could genuinely watch that intro on loop for a whole day. Fantastic work!
Better than watching Captain Marvel
The way this portrays Freeman as just another scientists trying to escape a facility without losing his sanity is perfect. Pure visual story-telling.
Looking forward to part 2!
um dude, this is part 2 :D you mean part 3
+Nekogami-Crystal well it's part one of Unforeseen Consequences, I think that's what he means
oh, i see.

+Nekogami-Crystal thank you! Nice to see people noticing the little things ;)
Pinwheel Arts i want part two, Please!
Amazing stuff, keep them coming man! Loved how you pictured Freeman. He gets afraid, hurt and that puking part was an incredible touch of realism. Can't wait for the rest!

"Helps my sheen"
An absolutely brutal approach to half life that I haven't really seen before. Good shit.
Incredible, was this really all in Source Filmmaker? I can't wait for the next part!
Very well done Pinwheel Arts, I can't wait to see more of this!
This needs to be cannon
@YayDude123 Freeman is literally just 🗿 the whole time. But I guess that is why people make animations like this. Although Half-Life Alyx showed us Freeman putting his glasses back on, as well as how damaged his HEV Suit had gotten over the course of Half-Life 2 and it's Episodic Expansions, when Gman recruited Alyx.
Really enjoying this series so far. Your doing an awesome job. I can't wait to see the rest of it!!!!!
Super work. Great animation. İ love Freeman & Shephard 💜
These are really good! I love all of Gordon's facial expressions.
2:48 eli was going to tell about G-man words i guess
Soooooo good. The portrayal is so gruesome and horrific it really brings out how frightened and resolute Gordon is.
I got walking dead vibes from the intro
I love the series, thanks for creating this!
3:20 this headcrab is doctor kleiner pet?
I really love this SFM movie.
The way you’ve animated Gordon makes him feel like an actual person or character, because even though he was already a great character, we still are forced to project ourselves onto him when we play the base game, rather than watch what HE’D do as a character through facial expressions and such.
So to see him all panicked and crawling and shocked at all the carnage really fleshes him out!
Also that little moment between Eli and Gordon, right before they part, letting us know that they’re both friends...
...just absolutely phenomenal stuff! 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Rewatching this video, I 've seen animux one. In his SFM, the characters movement is more human but, they aren't expressive. Your SFM characters aren't that smooth but, they are more expressive.
i love how scared gordon looks on these stiuations, it makes it look more human
