- Here it is as promised, Unforeseen Consequences, Part 2 of 3! Delivered in a slightly more timely manner than the previous episode.
Now to get working on UC Part 3 - it'll not be out as quick as this one was as I haven't even started the animation. After that, the series will be on hold until the funding starts working out...

For everyone who’s asking where the next episode is, or why haven’t I released the next episode, please refer to the latest update video. I specifically uploaded it so I don’t have to keep answering those questions.
It’s a mixture of two models locked to each other - the standard Black Mesa guard with the head and hands hidden, and the Barney model from DP Films’ “Badasses” workshop item with the body hidden. Then I played about with the face texture a bit to de-age him a little.
+Hendrik van Valerius it’s all in SFM - just used override materials to alpha out the body parts I wanted hidden.
+Hendrik van Valerius I don’t have it as a single model but when I get the chance I’ll try and hex it and upload it to the workshop.
what about the yong freeman model and the hev suit
What is intro Music
I just noticed this re-watching, but that handshaking Barney was doing after shooting a zombie gave a subtle hint that that go-lucky attitude Baney has all the time is just front to keep others upbeat. He's obviously frightened out of his mind, but he doesn't want to show it to keep others from losing hope. Amazing detail Pinwheel!
I like that you portray gordon as just a normal guy thrust into the situation in this series. He doesn't move like a navy seal or a commando, he makes grounded mistakes, he's adjusting to the chaos. I look forward to him gradually growing into a creative and ruthless saboteur over the course of his journey through black mesa, like he does in the game. Actually fleshing out interactions between him and the scientists is great by the way, really adds depth to the game. This is canon in my head now.
OmG goRdON Is eX-CoMaND0
Great job on actually establishing the friendship between Gordon and Barney, unlike Valve who just shoehorned it in Half-Life 2.
hEy, iTs mE, bArNeE fRoM BlAcK mEsA
they probably did it offscreen in half-life 1
It is established in some outside works namely the "walter scientist" logs. There is a problem however with putting Barney's relationship here; Barney wasn't in anomalous materials according to Blue Shift.
@@spacehitler4537 They are all Barney though lol
@@drumyogi9281 Files and such, yes, they're all barneys.
But canon wise, barney was having his own adventures in blue shift.
In fact, on the tram in half life 1, when you see a security guard knocking on a door holding a flashlight, that right there is barney.
“Oh yeah! Before I forget, me and the boys were thinkin’ bout some poker. I’ll keep you posted.”
Legendary.
Imagine when they complete this and we have a full Half-Life movie. That will be amazing.
once its all out we would need some on to put all into one thing
and then after that we'll get the cliffhanger........
Or, perhaps if it would be completed and released on Netflix or HBO as a series.
@@seththesheriff1275 i thinked that to
And like normal half life, waiting for part 3
When you notice there is no sequel
*Morphine administered*
never got past part 2, just like the game. although a 2.1 has been released
Mist. Yup
There is now! They made Part 2 episode !
Gordon: *throws flare into gas*
Barney: what the hell!!!
Gordon: *smiles sheepishly*
At least barney and gordon is not eaten by those headcrab zombies
who wrote this gem of re-imagining? it is mind blowing!
There was actually a sense of friendship between Gordon and Barney
Gordon didn't say anything like in the game so that was consistent
The way he got the crowbar was interestingly shown as he had a pistol and then was down to a crowbar, the iconic crowbar
Good stuff, really!
Yeah, the ingenious writing is really outstanding. How could anyone have come up with this masterpiece of a plot?! The "friendship" between Gordon and Barney didn't feel forced at all! ;)
The glock lost ammo
2:02 Barney is standing just like on Blue Shift game cover.
Barney: are you alright?
Gordon, who provoked the death of three innocent people, has seen several of his coworkers dead and was attacked by a brain eating alien: 👍
Dude. This deserves the same kind of attention Freeman's (and Barney's and Shepherd's) Mind got!
This doesn't compare to Freeman's mind
@YayDude123 He's experimenting with motion capture. By the looks of the rough draft, animation will be much more natural once he gets used to it.
This has the potential to be the new, more serious Freemans Mind.
It's great having opposite ends of the spectrum, isn't it?
(One nice foil between the two masterpieces is that in Freeman&Barney's Mind, Barney has tons of fond memories of Gordon, but Gordon treats him as some stranger he doesn't really care much about; but here they establish the real, solid bromance)
I love seeing you guys having real nice conversations about the world of Half-Life in my comments sections, it’s really heartwarming.
I love that you actually gave us Barney Calhoun and showed us their friendship. It feels so natural, and I think he fits so well into this. (Provided you assume Black Mesa Barney didn't get sent to Sector G to fix the elevator.)
Coitado do Barney ter sido mandado pra consertar um elevador e ainda ouviu daquele cientsita um monte de insulto e conseguiu sobreviver .
I just gotta say that I love your portrayal of Barney in this video. You effectively gave him back his balls.
but that beer tab has caught up to him.
Issue is he wasn't anywhere near anomalous materials.
you ar ethe blueshit?
I actually thought it would be cool if Gordon met Barney at that time in the game, glad to see someone making it real! :D
BlueShit199 and what if another reaction of the story follows the classic fate of original Barney (being killed just for ammo); hm? XD
lol! xD
i agree this will make barney seem more fit into half life 2
spongedog 001 The blue shift makes him fit into Half-Life 2 , he escapes facillity with some scientist and hides.
Where exactly in the game does he meet the real Barney? I always thought the guy who opens the door, but im probably wrong
[8:18] And. . . . a legend begins.
Yes
This is awesome by the way, I like how we're slowly seeing Gordon grow in character from defending barney with the flare to igniting the gas with it. I also like how he goes for the gun at first instead of the crowbar, because who would honesty pick a crowbar as their weapon of choice.
No ammo so you got that as an advantage and you can pry thing open and it’s silent won’t Attract attention and also you can keep zombies from getting to you bye putting it in front of there face and yours
@@mtfunitninetailedfoxcomman3109 but in a high stress situation those points won't immediately come to someone's mind. Its sound logic but people don't have time to use that in a situation as bad as this.
FireWarrior2013 depending on if your trained for high stress/risk situations or not will determine that
@@fitzgerald6466 that would be a valid point if such training were common. The scientist presented to us though were clearly untrained in such matters given how throughout the game you find your "coworkers" cowering in a corner.
FireWarrior2013 true true but most likely the black Mesa security officers are probably all trained in high risk/high stress situations but you are right the scientists are not trained in those situations but the most probable cause for survival as a scientist or on site supervisor would be to meet up with a BM security officer
I love the creative liberties taken with this series.

I didn't know I wanted an adaptation like this until I saw it. I just crushed this and the previous two installments, I checked out the pateron (I start a new job tomorrow after prolonged time without work) and from what I saw there I recognize the time investment something like this demands. This is an amazing project. I still have the big box the game came with at retail. I love this. All of this. I want more of it and, although I understand the demands of life can get in the way of personal projects, I will send you money sir when that first check arrives.
This is fantastic. Engaging. Riveting. I'm 33 and for damn near 20 years Half Life and its children have had profound effects on me as a person. This... this is a nothing short of a towering achievement.
Be proud.
Your attention to detail is admirable (wiping his forehead) and I actually teared up a little when Barney said "I'll keep you posted." !! Your animation skills are improving. Keep up the good work!
And then, while Barney's trying to call for help, he gets a transmission from one Dr. Rosenberg.
7:22 When you are crowded with fans wanted you to make another video
lol true
This whole project of yours has made me realize how cool something like a Half-Life Netflix series could be.
Very well done, sir. Keep up the good work!
Damn, I wish I was as good as Barney with the deagle in CS
this is half life 1 its before valve nerfed it
All that target practice finally paid off
It's a... Wait it actually looks like a Deagle... Huh...
I love that barney continuously pulls the trigger out of pure fear despite an obvious empty magazine. ( 4:15)
Why the hell are people disliking this? The hell were they expecting?
Pros: Them lighting effects be gorgeous, and the smeared blood is a nice touch!
Cons: idk, some of the balance when they're getting up, and the sliding when they're walking is obvious? The pace at which the model is walking is not the pace at which the model is covering ground. I know that's hard af though, so props!
Fekin nice!
Well, there's over a thousand likes vs. (as of this time) only 17 dislikes. That's a damn good ratio.
I love the emotion you put into the scenes. Gives it all an extra intensity.
Are you a wizard? because this is magic :D 10/10 and those use of lines making them mean a lot more than they ever did in the game! so awesome!!

just discovered this, freaking love it. Like I'm living Half-life again.
I really like what you have done to half life. Surely, in the game, we are so concerned about all the fire, explosions and Xen creatures, puting aside that as soon as we get a gun, Freeman turns into a badass killing machine guided by our keyboard and mouse, at that point we forget he is a scientist, part of the less trained group in all that sci-fi madness.
I really enjoy your content, specially because you have some mad skills, besides animation, you took empty dialogues and gave them the meaning they deserve since the beginning.
I don't usually subscribe, but when i do, it's for people like you. (It doesn't mean i'm an ego maniac, i'm just recognizing your talent xd)
Im so impressed on how this series has such a low amount of views. Its so well made... and ofc the poorly made ones has over millions of views.. :(
You're getting better each time, it's cool seeing somebody improve little by little. Keep up the good work Pinwheel!
I know I am gonna be another one, but it is an interesting thing to see Gordon being a normal human being with emotions rather than an Alien killing machine that can hop through the scientific complex at Mach 3 speed
Excellent work once again. As a director and editor you make smart and interesting choices. You are well on your way to becoming a great filmmaker. Just don't sexually harass anyone on the way, okay? ;)
he?! NOOOOO.....who is?
leave now.
just go.
dont come back.
I'm surprised that nobody pointed out 5:15. If it's in slow motion, wouldn't the alarm going off in the background slow down as well?
Other than that, good job.
Eeshaan Roy Yeah, no. It just sounds super out of place compared to everything else that’s going on in the scene. You expect the sound to slow down and distort in a slow motion scene as well.
i think it's quite surreal actually. it kinda shows what's going on in their mind, alarm bells. i think it suited it quite well
4:49 what i expect what happens in the game
reality
*Barneys shoots his gun that does no damage and dosent move and gets slashed 10 times and dies and then i die*
Psychopathic alternative: Gordon kill barney and Took the ammo
Damn! You have captured all of the original HL feeling! The amount of action, drama, humor, tension and horror is perfect! I love the series so far! THANK YOU ✨✨✨✨✨✨🍾🍪

great episode, I laughed when freeman smiled after he made the explosion 😂😂
Mind-BLOWN !!! amazing stuff really i love it !!! one suggestion tho, i am not a programmer or anything so i wouldn't know how hard it would be, but if you could make the movements just a bit more fluid as in hands movement,Gordon getting up from the floor,or legs in certain situations, you would be the king of the universe !!! keep up the good work !!!
5:27 that smile. Haha.
This was an amazing SFM, you even made Barney and Freeman have a nice friendship. I like
Still, much better facial animations than Mass Affect Andromeda. By the way, holding flares or torches in front of your head blinds your vision; it supposed to be held above your head, even a bit behind.
ruclips.net/video/jiuHr5YVJBI/видео.html
nice thing to know
srs question are you from reddit/???
This is very well done. Yes the animations can be a bit stiff, but not horribly so. The camerawork and lighting are phenomenal, though. And that intro is fantastic. Reminds me of the intros to The Walking Dead and The Strain. I could totally see HL2 as a TV show now.
Keep up the good work!
This is amazing!!! I can imagine the whole half-life movie in this style. Who's Gordon's voice actor? He's very good!
Ignat Remizov I’d say more like on par with the voice actor from the actual game.
@@Jwallworth Well, I think the game will always be better, but that's just me
Matheus Pereira each to their own pal

Wow, this is really an awesome series. I love how you portray Gordon in a more realistic and lively way. I've never seen anyone else show the true bond Gordon shares with the other characters, especially with Eli and Izzy in the last episode.
I can't wait to see what happens next. Keep up the great work. Any Half-Life fan is crazy to not like this wonderful series of yours
Honnestly great job man you have done a great job animated this im looking foward for the rest.
5years behind from find this art, perfect 4am vibes ty
If you planned to make all of half life in animation , you'll be sure to have content for 2 years at least
Good job on that one too ,is like watching half life as a tv show and it is amazing !
Yeah. I mean, it’ll take ages, like Freeman’s mind. But hey, it’ll be worth it in the end
I’d honestly love to see how he does the CP’s and antlions.
And.... er.... god ravenholm will scary AF. I mean, when the horde of headcrab zombies showed up in this video I got real darn scared.
Ok, we're only starting in this entire series, and I'm already loving it! There's really nothing to note about what part of this was the best, the entirety of this SFM screams perfection!
WOW, THAT WAS AMAZING
Hey man, just wanted to say this is amazing. Keep up the great work :)
>hidden G-man at 3:42
Where? I don't see him(or it)
Actually it's 3:40
Wow gmail is are ghost or what?
Gmail, a Google electronic mail sevice, is in fact, not a ghost. -Someone without autocorrect.
For me is gorden of future
When I was playing Black Mesa I was imagining a series like this. And how a flare would only hurt the zombies and imagined that 5:04 this would happen.
Thank you for making this. So weird how things work out
Ah, you uploaded again! And so soon after the last! Fuckin love you and your work thus far dude.
So let's talk a moment! I heavily approve of Barney being the first guard to escort you, and I also agree with the pace you've set things. Though admittedly we'll have twice as many of these as there are "Freeman's Mind" episodes by the time we get to the end..! But that's not a bad thing and I'm sure you've planned this fairly thoroughly.
I really like what you're doing here. I also get the impression that your Gordon is genuinely mute, instead of just chatty- because anybody going through this shit would have a fair bit to say, would at least scream a few times or make some kind of audible vocalization.
If not, then you're just being true to the character and that's totally okay.
If so, that's real damn interesting.
I really like this either way!
in a movie i could see him chatty before the cascade but after he just does not speek slowly thinking of what he has done
Hmmm. Gordon as an actual mute? That's something I never considered. Explains a lot. And really works for this series if that's what you're aiming for. OTOH, Gordon going mute as a way of dealing with the horror after the cascade also works...
Well freeman is under shock mate.... You can clearly see it on his face. People that did not have this kind of experience before or never have been under shock cant really speak...
Gordon mute cause in the game he doesnt say anything even once
Holy shit I love this series already even though it only has three episodes! Like my dude I love your take on Gordon Freeman even though he doesn’t say anything you can tell he’s friends with everyone and he’s a chill dude to hang with and I love that!!! Keep up the good work and take as much time as you need because this is pure 👌
This is the best SFM i ever seen in my *LIEF*
Dude, I absolutely love this. I am 100% supporting you on Patreon!
Everything seems and looks really good, Pinwheel. One minor irk I have is the running animation used for both; the animation implies faster movement then they actually are going at. Same with the walking at some moments. There's also the fact that everything seems disproportionate; the crowbar/Glock to Freeman, the Headcrabs to Freeman, the Zombies, it's as if everything is twice Freeman's size. Otherwise? Good.
AlyMar1994
In the original HL1 things also had a serious scaling problem, especially with the doors
Corporal Xander I wouldn't say the doors were disproportionate, they seemed the right size for the NPCs. In any case, I get what you mean but it's definitely noticeable here with Freeman. It's probably because the Black Mesa: Source content was made with a specific size in mind, while this Freeman model was probably general purpose/use.
I think it's just a byproduct of the first-person camera we're used to. In my experience, objects look a lot bigger in person, in VR, or right next to a character model than when you just see them in the game normally
Corporal Xander I think the scientists were just small in Half-Life. If you look at them next to security guards or HECU they’re a lot shorter.
My god, what a content have you created here guys, congratulations!
3:40 THAT GMAN hahah
I like that you made it more expressive. Even the greatest high-trained professionals can get afraid of unforeseen consequences. You nailed it.
5:28 me when my friend tell a bad joke
you deserve a medal, this is hands down the best vision of freemans character ive seen
Nicely done--I enjoyed watching! Kinda makes me want to return to Black Mesa! Thanks for your hard work and effort!
Wow men. This really is becoming one of the best adapted interpretation game on youtube. Must be broadcasted everywhere for fans and for those who nothing know bout this fantatical game. VERY THANKS from Argentina!
Ay yo so I see a lot of animators start something great and then just give up and cancel it
Don't cancel this one, it's good, keep going man.
Best SFM I have seen in a long time. A classic from the past that is repolished, real human emotions showed and claver planing. I love this so much!
7:32 and a legend was born
Your work getting better and better. Please keep doing this!
Nice worki epic guy

What a surprise this is! I feel like I am re-experiencing what it was like to first play Half-Life a long time ago. Great work. Great choice of colors, great interpretation of Gordon. I hope this will get the attention that it deserves.
5:27 This honestly made me laugh
Just discovered it and this is so EPIC! Thank You so much for this! Gonna eagerly wait for updates~
Love it!
THESE ARE DONE EXTREMELY WELL MY FRIEND! ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL. KUDOS. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!! 👍🏼
That "jingle" vibe in the background is from "Terminator" for the NES.
Damn, just found this series and was hoping to binge with the rest of my night- this is it? THANKS FOR NOTHIN'
Sounds like the theme from the terminator game on the NES 2:35
It is.... Just slowed down...
This is so awesome. The time alone it takes to create this must be insane. Good job man.
By this speed it will take him a year to reach surface tension :( great job man nonetheless.
once he gets his motion suit they will come out more quick
This is by FAR the BEST ANIMATION I‘VE EVER SEEN. I LOVE IT ! I Hope there will be more episodes soon:) fu*king good work !
YAY!
Man, this really feels like a sci fi movie. This is such a good work you guys have done. Am absolutely enjoying this thriller!!
There are a few animations that are a bit Werid looking, but other than that, this is awesome! 8/10
OOOH YEAH! Thank you so much for this series and the INSANE amount of work you put in here!!!!! Hope that some crazy rich fanboy gives you tons of money for this :)
Finally!
Been waiting for this for a while. Very well done these two "episodes". The half life I've been wanting to see, i like live action but love the animation, "better and better" as father Gergori would say. I noticed your attention to detail with the blood smear on Gordons forehead as he tries to wipe some of it away from his eyes and face. Barny shaking as he held the pistol after firing at the zombie security guard very nicely done. It felt organic, and the amazing lighting brings those and all the other moments to life, giving it a realistic depth. Bravo
Also very nice music pieces to enhance the moment, and that the reverb and echo changed accordingly at the end in barney's last conversation with Gordon with the camera in the vent, then just outside then to where it was facing Barney, positioning feels right.
damn even this guy cant count to 3 when it has something to do with half life =(
Thanks for this wonderfull work, I'm a big fan of Half Life, I've been wishing something like this, thank you so much.
I just watched all three short films. The graphics were great but the animation needs improvement. Oh and kudos on the guard playing super metroid! My biggest gripe is that you made Gordon a big scaredy cat. He was an unstoppable power house in the game and never slowed his aggresive push forwrd to freedom from the hellish environment Black Mesa had become. The HEV suit made him stronger, faster and able to sponge heavy damage that would otherwise mangle a regular human and yet he is scrambling to stop a measly headcrab from coupling with his cranium. He would of squashed that naked possesed poultry with his bare hands! Your Gordon is in stark contrast to how the game potrayed him to be.
wow. now THIS this is the first patreon i will be supporting when i get money
¿Ya no habrá más?😢
