Yeah, the black mesa stuff got overshadowed completely. I still remember being a kid back then and some people were talking about some "Free man" with a crowbar, probably another terrorist.
My uncle was in the army and he was stationed at black mesa for a couple years. Really an adjacent compound but ‘everyone called it Black Mesa anyway’ according to him. He passed before i really got to ask him anything about what he did, but i do remember him telling my family about strange noises and the extreme formality all his higher ups had about the situation. I wish i could’ve asked him things, it’s so interesting to imagine what he may have seen. God rest his soul.
My uncle used to work security at Black Mesa as a civilian contractor. I would always ask him if he had any cool stories but he told me the most exciting thing he’d ever seen happen was a scientist slip on a puddle of coffee!
the incident must have occurred on December 5, 2000 and the seven hour war on February 2, 2001 based on the two videos of that guy who made the situation in the world after the black mesa incident and its consequences at national level (USA) and global level

On this guys's defence there's an interdimensional alien invasion going on caused by human experiments and the black mesa research facility has developed stuff like the TAU cannon and the displacer cannon so maybe they developed that other stuff sooner

Tbf western hemisphere has been hit the hardest during the portal storms eruptions. It was storms who did most the damage, The Combine just merely swooped in when the humanity was at it's lowest moment, already exhausted from the portal storms and damage they caused

Pretty sure the news networks would have caught on to that. Also, That contradicts the "stay at home" order. Regardless, this was chillingly convincing; great job!

no, first he has to do it about the destructive meteorological events and disposition of alien life on earth, then about the joint committee of both the Democratic and Republican parties on the incident and the testimony of the former administrator of the black mesa research facility and the employees survivors, then the chaotic situation in the world and then the detection by the United Nations and multiple space agencies of the arrival of the Combines and then the Seven Hours War and the unconditional surrender of all UN members
Well made sir, well made. One point i'd like to add for historical correctness: MultiCam which is the camouflage pattern used by officer NUGENT in the video was not developed/designed/unveiled until 2002 and started being used by units around 2004. It was mainly used by different special units during GWoT era. The widely adopted OCP/Scorpion W2 which is the US Army version of Cryes MultiCam was rolled out summer 2015.
The interview with the soldier is a bit of a mistake. He's wearing the modern OCP uniform while back in 2001 they would be wearing BDUs with either M81 woodland or tri color "coffee stain" desert camo.

Just think - while that press conference is happening, there is a man in an orange hazard suit running around murking soldiers to the tune of Modern Major General.
This is literally the coolest thing ever, after having just watched this documentary from 2008 called Wake Up Call - New World Order, this footage just blends seamlessly with that perfect early 2000s conspiracy unfolding vibe. As an environment artist working on the opposing force and blue shift remake, Operation: Black Mesa, I almost wish it were possible to include something like this as an Easter egg. I'm not sure if it is though due to source engine limitations, but this really does feel like a slice of half life bleeding into the real world. Excellent use of footage, I particularly like that you included the shot from inside the Titan II missile silo. I'm curious what was that subterranean water reservoir that resembled the half life 1 sewer system/lower canal?
I remember playing the original Half Life when it came out. I grew up in New Mexico and lived by Los Alamos. There is literally a Black Mesa by where I live. It is great to imagine some of the top-secret stuff that goes on out here, and trust me some does. I love playing this game.
I noticed that you used VHS cassette glitching and artifacting in order to help mask the tweaks to people’s mouths when getting their lips to sync up with the dialogue for the video. Definitely helps that the video is grainy as well. I’m impressed, good job! 😊
Was really interested in TNO stuff even despite not playing hoi4 all that much, but this just sold me. Keep up the good work, these videos are really cool. If you are going to continue with half-life universe after that, I would be pretty interested to look at the news report regarding aperture science senate hearings about missing astronauts if possible.

Should have used the early 2000s era Microsoft logo at the beginning instead of the current one
I didn't even notice that
Ah that's what felt odd about it
Epentibi touching on Half Life content is a huge and welcome suprise. from looking at other content creators trying the same thing (and succeeding), news reports of the Incident, Xen invasion, 7 Hour war and aftermath would be incredible
you never fail to deliver
Am I the only one that noticed the Black Mesa incident takes place only 5 days before 9/11?
Yeah I remember this. What a week.
but didn't the incident occur on December 5, 2000? and the seven hour war at the beginning of 2001?
Poor Osama the interdimensional aliens took the spotlight from his big bad evil plan :(
@@federalinvestigationbureau5814 people say it happened in the 1990s 2003 or 2000 but I personally believe it happened in December of 2000 never heard someone say right before 9/11
Yeah, the black mesa stuff got overshadowed completely.
@@mrdarkshoe Similar experience. LOL!
Geez it seems like only yesterday when we were watching this happen. Hard to believe it's been over 20 years.
I love how you included the in-universe Northern Petrol into the new newscast. Very well done!
I didn't even know about Northern Petrol. But that 5 second segment gave me sneaking suspicion that something was up.
If this is happening 5 days before September 11th, wouldnt that imply 9/11 was a cover up operation for the Black Mesa Incident?
Or an adequate distraction of an issue
Maybe Bin Laden saw the aliens and was like "damn, lets give the americans a break"
@@liftfork as if the AQ are to be spared from G-Man's plans
the incident must have occurred on December 5, 2000 and the seven hour war on February 2, 2001 based on the two videos of that guy who made the situation in the world after the black mesa incident and its consequences at national level (USA) and global level
@@shinsenshogun900 “Time, Mr. Bin Laden? Is it really that time again?”

Don’t worry about little details it ruins it
They also showed Struker vehicles that didn’t begin production until 2002, but there’s a level of suspension of disbelief there I guess.
Striker that is the correct name of the vehicle but you are right the US army was still testing the striker and it had not entered service and mass production in 2001 (and the black mesa incident did not occur on December 5, 2000? and Did the Seven Hours War happen at the beginning of February 2001?)@@warweasel2832
On this guys's defence there's an interdimensional alien invasion going on caused by human experiments and the black mesa research facility has developed stuff like the TAU cannon and the displacer cannon so maybe they developed that other stuff sooner
The games also had VTOL aircraft that were only in experimental phases at that time. Half life is not a series that worries about realism lol@@warweasel2832
I'll never forget playing Half-Life Alyx for the first time and rotating that globe at the beginning and seeing the entire western hemisphere completely levelled. Dr. Breen doesn't get enough hate in the fandom for being such an evil and insidious character.
Pretty sure a lot of that happened during the 7-Hour War. Breen's surrender really was the only option. It was the things he did with the power he was later given that are the problem.
Tbf western hemisphere has been hit the hardest during the portal storms eruptions. It was storms who did most the damage, The Combine just merely swooped in when the humanity was at it's lowest moment, already exhausted from the portal storms and damage they caused
This is really cool. The blurry VHS video really helps with the mind accepting the mouth movements; definitely wouldn’t have worked in HD.
They also mentioned Northern Petrol. Cool attention to detail.
2:00 WOW. You're going for the DEEP CUTS, man!
what's the deep cut? i forgot a lot of the lore.

one note: your Army uniforms are not correct for the time period, they should be wearing an earlier one like desert “chocolate chip” or woodland BDUs
Matter of fact, it wasn't the army who responded, it was the marines
DBDU was discontinued in 1995. You're thinking of DCU or the three color "coffee stain" camo
@@andystegall7407 man, those are some wild names for camouflage.

I forget the exact time-line, but I'm pretty sure that at various points in the game, evacuation orders were called in an expanding radius, and at one point, the army even requested anyone with firearms training to stay behind to help (all of this is overheard on radios). Pretty sure the news networks would have caught on to that. Also, That contradicts the "stay at home" order.
Regardless, this was chillingly convincing; great job!
Unrealistic, the goverment wouldn't tell civilians about the Black Mesa Incident, but its pretty cool ig!
I like how you quoted part of the EAS announcement from Black Mesa
0:17 that's the wrong Microsoft logo for 2001 ☝️🤓
Noticed it immediately. Literally unwatchable 😤
Everything is so perfect except for the Microsoft logo 😢
The military stuff is also entirely wrong for the time period.
The English is janky, like it was scripted by someone who doesn't speak natively.

Iirc Microsoft used that square logo in some old windows 95 commercials but yeah it does look out of place.
Still, scarily realistic. If you were just listening to this rather than watching it could fool the untrained eye
I saw this today and man AI is really fascinating. Imagine seeing this 10 years ago
This is pretty good and im watching live, you should make a Seven Hour War news broadcast
That would be based
no, first he has to do it about the destructive meteorological events and disposition of alien life on earth, then about the joint committee of both the Democratic and Republican parties on the incident and the testimony of the former administrator of the black mesa research facility and the employees survivors, then the chaotic situation in the world and then the detection by the United Nations and multiple space agencies of the arrival of the Combines and then the Seven Hours War and the unconditional surrender of all UN members
Holy shit he did a Half-Life one
Now we need a TF2 one.
This is unbelievable good - especially the Rumsfeld briefing. I have no idea how you did this, but you are a master. Well done.
holy fucking shit, i want an entire half life movie made out of this format, holy shit, i loved it
Well made sir, well made. One point i'd like to add for historical correctness:
MultiCam which is the camouflage pattern used by officer NUGENT in the video was not developed/designed/unveiled until 2002 and started being used by units around 2004. It was mainly used by different special units during GWoT era. The widely adopted OCP/Scorpion W2 which is the US Army version of Cryes MultiCam was rolled out summer 2015.
This has come out of a blue, Epentibi. Thank you, from a bottom of my heart, as a HL fan. And thank you for all your great work.
The interview with the soldier is a bit of a mistake. He's wearing the modern OCP uniform while back in 2001 they would be wearing BDUs with either M81 woodland or tri color "coffee stain" desert camo.
I know it's sounds dumb, but maybe the HECU were testing out new gear for the military, before they send the new gear to troops in Afghanistan and Iraq they decided to use this incident for "trials on the field" stuff.
@@OnxGrid"Afghanistan and Iraq" bro the black mesa incident occurred even before the September 11 attacks, so there is no invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq

This is terryfying, why is this so well made
Because *can*.
This is genuinely cool to watch, even if it isn't real
It would be awesome to have this in a Portal game to make the player realise that they're completely trapped
We don't need to hear about all of this. We're highly trained bhop professionals
Oh my god we need more of this Half LIfe stuff. It'd be interesting if you could try to incorporate the EAS broadcast messages from Black Mesa into the second part as I think it would add more to the immersion.
This is horrifying.
I noticed that you used VHS cassette glitching and artifacting in order to help mask the tweaks to people’s mouths when getting their lips to sync up with the dialogue for the video. Definitely helps that the video is grainy as well. I’m impressed, good job! 😊
"They're waiting for you, Donald... in the Press chamber..."

I really like the implication that the events of Half-Life 1 took place mere days before 9/11. Makes it really spooky and a lot more interesting
This is the proper use of AI - not trying to have it write poorly written fiction but rather as an easy to use SFX tool far beyond the capabilities of a human trying to manually splice audio files...
It is a basis for making tools. Computing taken to its limits as of now.

1:31 The vehicles in that video are anachronistic for this time period, there's clearly car models from the 2010s ans 2020s. It would've been better to use an excerpt from a different news broadcast from the 2000s/1990s.
