The level of detail is incredible. So many references to Opposing Force. The Employee of the month plaque, the squad being addressed as Foxtrot. So much effort was put into this.

Gabe Newell and JJ Abrams had a DICE presentation where at the end Gabe Newell said he wanted to work with Bad Robot and JJ Abrams on a Portal or Half Life movie. I have no idea how they would make a Portal movie but a Half Life movie seems right up their alley.
Yeah a Half-Life movie would be cool. Trouble is the fan base is not really there for Half-Life. Even if it was exceptional, it might not perform at the box office. A TV series might fare better and have considerably less budget. If VALVE wants to pony up for series and have JJ Abrams EP it, I will gladly run the show and make it to the high level Half-Life fans would expect. I'm waiting by the phone for them to call. :)
I would support having you do a 2 hour film. You got a good portrayal of the Half-Life atmosphere, with a conservative budget and some outside help I think you'd be able to honor the game.

Fairly certain that conversation they have while the guy is looking through the sniper scope is almost verbatim a conversation you can overhear in Half Life 1

I can actually understand the HECU, and they did have a reason to kill them. I don't think it's smart, what they did, but it wasn't dumb, either. Killing the scientist team would ensure another resonance cascade would be highly, highly improbable, thus preserving more lives and keeping the peace (if not for the portal storms). It's more of a moral thing, if anything. They aren't the good guys, by any means, but to be fair, in Half Life 1, no one is. It's just a desperate fight for survival.
At 4:50 the soldiers actually say lines from the game, I think that's really cool.
Yep, the door look was lifted right from the game and if you notice the soldier's names are Mark and Laidlaw after the writer Mark Laidlaw

I love how the soldiers aren't shown as bloodthirsty minions of the government. It shows how conflicted they feel about killing innocent civilians for the sake of a cover up.

the HEV suit looks so perfect, it looks bulky (which most wouldn't like) but it makes sense because it's meant to be PROTECTIVE!
it looks comfy and has that charm that the Michael Keaton Batman costume has (the one with the big connected shoulders)
the HEV looks like it could take a hit, it's so sturdy looking. even though IRL the costume would probably be SUPER delicate.

I don’t think many people have said this, but just the HEV suit alone makes this so legendary. I’ve been getting into half-life very recently, and everything about this is amazing, even down to the music! I bet that actor felt super cool whenever he had to don Freeman’s suit.

This just shows how much potential there is for a movie in Half-Life Universe. I mean just this masterpiece could be a teaser/trailer of the movie and everyone would be thrilled. Such a shame that there's no movie in universe already.

I am a big fan of Half-Life and you made this on point with the feeling of the real game and i like that you guys used some original sound effect which was a major point of the feeling as well. If you ever make a creature teleport from Xen, please use the real sound effect for that also, as it was creepy in the original HL1. This is the best i have ever watched that is fanmade. You really took the feeling from Half-Life 1 into a real perspective. This is actually work that i would love to watch and pay for.
Keep the awesome work up and don't stress to much, take your time because stressing makes always a worse outcome.

Well done, this needs to be a full blown movie. I definitely pay to see it.
It was so accurately what Half-Life was about, everything matched in a modern manner, the costumes were really great, I never really realised what a real life HEV would look like but you guys nailed it, and that dude, he is Gordon, he matches at 100 % the wrong man in the wrong place, realistic, no utter badassery, just a well geared survivor. I can't believe how few views it has for what it is, every dude who once awaited for an episode 3 or a sequel to Half-Life should watch it. 40 000 views in 5 years is scandalous.

Well there are technically 3 parts. But yes it was too expensive to continue without some kind of deal with Valve and a production company to finance it.

Or about most of it anyway. Trying to cram all of that into an hour-and-a-half or two-hour feature-length film...would probably yield a four- or five- or more hour running-length, too long for most movies.
On the other hand, a Serial or Chapterplay format would suit a full _Half-Life_ live-action presentation way, waaay better. You could run those lots and lots of more hours, just not all at once, see hehehehehehehe

Holy shit dude. I'm a 80s/90s US military buff, and you got the HECU almost perfectly spot on. Wearing correct gear for the time, with good IRL standins for the nonsensical gear Valve gave them in the game. Personally, I'd have given them the standard body armor of the time, a PASGT vest, but those can be hard to source so I don't blame you for choosing to use more readily available airsofty stuff. Oh, and I'd make sure they'd have the proper firearms; either an M4A1 if you're going the "they're not marines they're army" (which is correct based off of their gear), or an M16A2 if you INSIST on them being marines.
