- Stories arose how the great Gordon Freeman and Barney Calhoun escaped the Black Mesa facility, having traversed every odd pinned against them. They were legends among the Lambda Resistance members. However, there was one unnamed hero that was sent to Black Mesa the day of the Resonance Cascade. he battled against aliens and the CIA Black Operations crew. Now returning to Earth, he finds the world is much different than the one he left. Once a Marine for the United States Marine Corp Unit HECU, he must now battle against an oppressive extraterrestrial empire for humanity's freedom and become...an Opposing Force.
Hey guys! I hope you enjoy this short featuring the return of Half Life' Opposing Force Protagonist. After last year's entry wasn't all that great I decided to revamp it a bit. Development was tedious over the last three months due to college, work, a basic computer, and people who do not care for the work I do in animation (yeah it's that bad). I will be starting a series with this and Sonic Universe: Shadow sometime next year hopefully if I get a new computer. So be sure to keep an eye out for more!

Sheath Entertainment™ yeah I’ve been watching some other RUclipsrs with half life videos and some of them call the H.E.C.U. Marines Army boys and it makes me cringe.
Adrian Shephard well I guess that’s the feeling that happens, especially if one was in the Corps or in my case, is part of a huge military family.
Don’t forget about the conscripts from the HL2 beta.

Talk about being dropped into the middle of a conversation with no clue as to the topic.
He also has no guidelines on what to do, he never did.
@@locho41 He had some very vague stuff, he hears his squad lead yell something about find freeman as the guy gets tossed out of the osprey, then later when he actually links up with the HECU as they withdraw during what would be surface tension he meets an officer who ask him about if he found freeman and then says well forget it were withdrawing but never actually clarifies. So at no point is he actually told who freeman was or why they were actually sent for him just that he finds out they were searching for someone named freeman, He doesn't even get the first name Gordon from what I recall?
That last sentence is like my life, dude.

the combine have had control of earth for 20 years, and since i see no metropolice getting word of freeman showing up, it's safe to assume that this is before half life 2

Loved the cinematography and in-shot choreography. Quality is also good and compared to your previous submission it's a huge step forward. There are few flaws and most of them are in the fighting scene. For example all shots were filmed with tight FoV, which made it hard for me as a viewer to analyze and see what was happening and where, a few wide shots and shots with enemies and grunts in the same scene could've helped it a lot. The other thing is the firefight itself, the amount of missed shots to amount of succesful hits felt scripted and underdone.
Overall it's a good HL film and we difinately need more of these!
+Deviant Pictures Films Thanks! Yeah no film is without their flaws, I had run into many development issues over the last three months working under time constraints. My limited hardware meant that I was working under 3-5 frames per second in playback so the animation was botched in some instances in my opinion. So I kept the shots tight when working with pose-to-pose since I don't have the funds for mocap. As far as Storm Trooper Aim, well lets just say its not as exciting had they just killed the thing there, but thanks for the feedback! :)
+Sheath Entertainment™ not saying they should be super accurate, I find it odd that they've killed a foe only when Shepard got in trouble.
There's the thing about the apparent lack of recoil, too. Don't forget about that, it's strange to watch guns fire full auto while only moving like 2 centimeters.

To those who wonder if Adrian Shephard will return in Half life 3/Episode 3: He kind of have to, that's a part of the story that has been left unresolved and let's face it, if half life 3 ever gets made, that would definitely be the very last game valve ever makes so that they can focus completely on selling other people's games. They would have to tie up all loose ends so that they could shut up all the fans too.

I mean... You can say whatever you want about freeman and barney, but Shepard is the most badass from the bunch. He's a highly trained and skilled soldier, he watched his friends die for no good reason, and even then, he never gave up on his mission.

I always wondered why Black Mesa has (seemingly) endless pits around the facility. If they didn't have them, and put something in the spaces (like ground idk), maybe their squad leader wouldn't have fell into his demise.
Black Mesa was built on an already existing decommissioned ICBM launch facility from the 1950s. Those pits likely contained nuclear weapons and radioactive weapon storage before being converted into the Black Mesa labs.

I may be in the minority of thinking that Shepard was not really a hero, but this is something i'd watch
I REALLY want this to be a series. This would make a really good one too since during the 7-hour war the US was kicked to its knees and all of its military was put into Combine order, just the idea of having Shepard going around and fucking with the Combine is poetic in a way. If this was a series, I'd happily give my voice. Even though I'm 16 I can still do voices.

Once HL3 comes out, hopefully Valve can sell the rights to HL, and we can make expansions like an Opposing Force 2 or a Seven Hour War game. OH, or even a Blue Shift 2! This is epic, but I have one problem with Black Mesa’s art design and that is that they took the PASGT helmet away from the HECU marines. I prefer the PASGT helmet as it fits in with the time period and gives a more military like look to the HECU. Other than that, I loved the SFM. Sorry for being a military equipment nerd
