Replacing a Rusted Out Floor Pan - Resurrecting a 1968 Plymouth Satellite Part 3

  • As solid as the Satellite is, the floor pans need some serious attention. Fortunately a full floor pan was available and reasonably priced. I've never repaired a unibody car, so there was a learning curve. Grinding spot welds was very time consuming but made for a very professional repair. I ALWAYS start with the worst part of the car so everything else seems a little more fun in comparison.
    Enjoy the suffer!

You are such an animal! You did the right thing with the floor. I always do the worst task first too. It looks great and should really top off the rest of the effort. Perseverance is character trait that is a blessing and a curse. You push beyond normal limits but you get results beyond the normal as well. I think its a great job done. Now the old boy deserves a nice motor, to be loud and fast. Take Care guys, Dennis in Virginia

Good to see it done correctly, full floors are definitely the way to go. Had to replace floors on my 68 sport satellite also, only thing i did weld in some subframe connectors before cutting up the floors just to be sure the body doesnt flex. They are also plus if you want more torque too :)

Ya Chris has a number of good ways to stiffen up the frame for the bigger torque situations [stroked 400 is his fave B-body motor to keep big power under the hood without any ugly fugly scoops lol]. Still rather see you build an old Pontiac to breath some fire :-) But the Satellite is a cool car in that angry boxy sort of looking way. :-)
