- This is the first in a series of generator videos I am making for prepping and grid down situations. This series will go over the unboxing of two generators and the use of one after a major hurricane and a true grid down situation, and I will discuss some of the high points and low points of both generators with real world use in a grid down time.

Your video was very helpful and liked that you used only the tools that were supplied so we can see exactly how to assemble. I'm sure I would have missed the shipping brackets during my assembly, so thank you for pointing it out. Much appreciated. Can't wait to crank mine up.
It is so nice to have this generator ready to go. It truly showed it's ability after Hurricane Ida. We basically live like normal. What a game changer. I had quotes from the big whole house guys, and sure, there are a few advantages, but for the price, we stayed quite comfortable for 7 days without grid power
We have two refrigerator/ freezers and 3 more full freezers and a backup refrigerator/freezer. We didn't lose any food and we were able to sleep in a air conditioned house. Take care of your generator and it will take care of you. This reminds me, I need to go run both of mine.
Great presentation ! I am going to get this model! I’ve been studying and this one fits the bill!
That is the same way I approached buying this generator.
I live in texas, I bought this same generator in 2021 right after Houston power was out for like 3 days because of a winter storm. It took me few min to assemble it...I also looked at some videos on youtube on how to install it on your power box. Im not an electrician, but it took me longer to go get the materials at home depot than installing the sub panel and the connection for the generator cable. I've tried it and it works great. I will be using propane because with gas its easier for your carburetor to go bad if the gas sits in it for a long time...great vid man!!!
It's so nice to have that backup security. I went so far as to get two. I like having gasoline and propane on hand but in order to store gasoline it really takes a lot of extra effort. I had problems with the propane I got from our local store so I will change the tanks out and get some from another supplier. I guess I just got a bad batch. I'm going to install a 50 amp receptical and the should make everything really nice. Thanks for stopping by and good luck with your generator.
Your shipping brackets are like mine, but handles are different. I still haven't found a video with the exact same configuration as mine but this was very informative. Thanks for posting!
My brackets on the 13000kw were a bit different but neither was too bad. They are made out of some really soft steel so be gentle with them
Extremely informative! Recently purchased the DuroMax XP13000E (I do not want to hassle with propane tanks). Watching you visually perform the step by step procedure, is so helpful. Even your missteps are helpful. The only difference is getting it out of the box, without destroying the box (I try and keep all the original packaging). Seeing how everything sits in the box, will make it relatively easy, figuring out that workaround. Also, definitely will use a ratchet set.
Open it up and flip it while in the box with the top open. Simply slide the box off. Easy peasy. My dad likes to keep the original packaging too. On my second one, the box was simply destroyed before I even took possession. Thanks for the comment.
Oh, definitely watch the last video in this series about propane. It's a shocker if you don't know about oil in propane that can shut everything down. I found a lot about it in the RV forums.
@@TheSHOP411 - Yes, thank you. I thought it might be packed with styrofoam, or something, which your video confirmed it is not.
Chris, there is a foam mat it the box to flip it over on to rest on while it is upside down. Open the box, take that out and roll it over gently onto that foam mat. I was on grass so it wasn't necessary. I do it with my 13000 in my unboxing video later in the series.
Excellent video, just received my Duromax , watching you was a great help 👍
Glad it helped. You are going to feel so much better having it when the power goes out. They are lifesavers
July 2022 Price Update: I live in Southwest Florida. I contacted 2 local Generac Dealer and for their 22kW size they both gave me an astronomical quote of $19,000! That price did NOT include the cost of installing a 500 LP tank which was another $4500! So all in it would have been $23,500……it like buying water from a guy when your in the middle of the desert in 110 degree heat. They know you need it to they’ll rob you of every last cent.
So I went with this generator and hooked up an interlock switch also installed a Micro-Air Soft-Star AC kit which reduces a big 48,000 btu ac unit from a start of 83amps to a extremely low 22amps! This insures the ac, refrigerator and a whole lot more can run off the DUROMAX 13000EH at the same time. Next up building a portable shed to house and run the generator inside 👍
That price is unfreaking believable. I'm very happy with my set up. Using the harbor freight greenhouse as a cover works well for a temporary housing, but I am building a covered area added onto my shop and I will have a place just for the generators. Thanks for commenting. You sound like you figured it out.
Anyone knows, What is the THD...... Total Harmonic Distortion %❓❓❓
I was always told it is around 15%. I can tell you this. We ran it for a week, and we used a smart TV and our computer with no problem.None of the appliances had any issues and we didn't notice any problems associated with THD that some others have talked about.
Wouldn’t want that guy working on anything or mine
Where is the video for the xp13000eh?
ruclips.net/video/AckcUjqig5Y/видео.html
Any issues with this generator?Thanks
I did have one issue but I am confident it wasn't the generator itself. I believe it was a contaminated fuel problem. Since that issue, both generators have run flawlessly.
Do it comes with a quart of oil
One did. My second one did not. It is synthetic 5W30.
Why you gotta take off the red ?
Those are the shipping brackets. They are used to keep the machine stable in shipping. If you run the generator with them on, they will cause instability and vibrations that will hurt the generator.
beeeoooohhhhhwwweeeepppppp, looney tunes beeeoooohhhwwweeeeeeppppp!!!!!
The title of your video and opening description in your video is incorrect. You bought a XP10000EH not a XP130000EH.
Wow. Thanks. Can't believe that I did that. I was putting together videos of both because I had bought a 13000 that I did a different video on. I must have had that 13000 on my mind. Doing the edit now. Again, thanks. I can't edit the title in the video, but I did edit the RUclips title.
@@TheSHOP411, just ordered the xp12000eh after watching your video. Thanks for your detailed review.
Thx u. I just bought the xp13000EH and watched your video to assemble mine. You helped alot.
@@francisodum5931 very glad to help. Having a good generator makes things so much easier. When things go wrong, people will be so miserable not having power, but you will have a much easier time weathering that storm.
Dude are you living in the jungle that is some wild animal noises in the background.
The cicada's we're terrible at the time and on top of that my sister had to get rid of her Guineas so I took them in with my chickens. Guineas are horrendously loud and obnoxious. I also hear a hawk so that probably had them all rowled up. To think we moved out to the middle of nowhere for the peace and quiet.
That was a rooster 🐓 crowing
@@DogSoldier1948 the roosters are normal and not that bad. The guineas were terrible. I have no desire to ever raise guineas again
