Thanks for sharing!! I just got my cat shield for my 06 Tacoma , just waiting for my rivet tool from Amazon, yeah over here in Hawaii we have lots of catalytic thieves, my wife's matrix got stolen right in front of our home , just wish I found the person under the car while cutting of the cat off, but thanks again for this video, it made it a lot easier for me 🤙 Aloha
Thanks for the great video. The bell housing bolts were quite hard to take off. I had to use a breaker bar. I went to tacomaworld to try to find the torque specs. A guy downloaded a pdf torque guide to share. The only bolts I found on the bell housing was torqued at 28 ft. lb. Definitely a little more torque even after I tightened them up. I'm content with the torque specs. Also, used their tip on placing the rivet nut if you don't have the rivet nut g
Great video, thank you!!! Your shots of the transmission crossmember really helped me out. The previous owner of my truck had transmission work done. I had to flip my crossmember around for the rear mounting bolts to align correctly.
Whew 😅 did it thanks to this video I purchased proper riv nut installer, Took like 3 hours because jacking up in driveway is tough, not much space, back and forth, plus holding it in place while securing bolts is tough . It's on tho and cat thieves can go to hell .
here we are a year later and you'd think the california politicians and lawmakers would of solved the cat theft problem by now🙄,wishful thinking. Thanks for the video! ordered my kit, hopefully I'll get it before my cat gets stolen
Great video - dumb question. Can you see the "Cat Security" logo on the sides when looking at the truck? My Tacoma is de-badged and I'm not into logos.
I just installed mine on my Tacoma. Anyone hear of thieves dropping out the guard as well as taking the cats? Thinking of switching some of the security bo,to to make removal a bit harder.
I was told by Cat Security that this plate wouldn't work on my 2007 2WD Tacoma, 4 cyl. because it wouldn't protect the most sought after cat. by thieves. They are supposedly still working on a shield that will protect a 4 cyl. for the next 60 days. I wonder if there is a work around that would still let me use this shield.
Likely not. This thing fits like a glove. Without a 4 cylinder Taco in front of me, I'd gather that the crossmembers are different or set/forward back comparatively. Goodluck!
@@4Runner21 No, I never found a cat shield that would fit my 07 Tacoma. I haven't checked back to see if they are now making new shields for older models or not. I ended up getting my muffler shop to install the Cat Strap. They put an extra couple of clamps around the pipes and strap too. So far I've had no more theft problems.
@@eddiesaninocencio7486 I don't have the TRD skidplate but when I was doing my research months ago, the consensus is that yes it'll fit with the TRD skidplate.

Nice Video! Stingers UP!
😆 thanks! 🐝
Nice video! I also thought my DIY kit was incomplete, but after doing more research it turns out only 1 nut is needed.
Interesting. Now I'm curious how it works
Excellent video. Thanks a lot
Excellent Video
Great work!!! Worth the money !

Sorry Matt. I don't remember. It's been a while since.

Cool vid
Do you access to the oil drain plug after installation?
Yes, no problems doing an oil change.

@@meditator433 Did you ever find a cat shield for your 07 Tacoma 2WD 4 cylinder ? Trying to find one for my dads TACO..

@@meditator433 thanks for the info! Do you have a link to the CATSTRAP by chance?
Great video, what size of tap did you use to chase those threads ?
I don't know off the top of my head. I just used the bolt to determine the thread size out of my kit.
Any issues like , vibration noise, heat , anything negative.. thanks for vid, bay area !
No issues at all. Can't even tell its there!
Also had these concerns, but nothing negative so far. Bay Area necessity :/
Does this shield work for a 2006 tacoma 2.7L? Tha cats are on the passenger side.
I believe the shield for the 2.7 hasn't been developed yet. Try looking at another brand.
Do you know the bolt specs for the bell housing when you revolted them in?
I don't, sorry.
Nice job. How many holes did you have to drill?
Just the two that I showed in the video. Thanks for watching.

Yes, you need to drill 2 holes 🕳

anybody know the difference in installation difficulty for the second gen 4WD?
How much is that

You're right ✅️
Sorry I just saw is at the end
No worries. Hope everything works out for you.
