- Thieves are stealing catalytic converters at a high rate, making it difficult for manufacturers to keep up with the demand for replacements.
One truck accessory store in Fort Worth is working to help Texas drivers protect their vehicles.
Trail End Truck Accessories is a longtime family-owned business. Owner Craig Ford said the catalytic converter shield has become their hottest product.

Just pass a law that makes it a 10 year mandatory prison sentence for converter theft (with no chance of parole meaning you have to serve all 10 years no matter what) and you'd see that shit stop immediately. There's simply not enough of a punishment being handed to these scumbags.

Had a shield on mine and they still managed to take it, but had to work for it. Laws are to lenient on assholes.

I think a shield delays cat theft. With the right tools, it can be stolen anyway but it would take more time and noise.
It works for me since two years now after the original cat was stolen.
They need to invent a peice that lops off someone's hand if they try to steal it. Problem solved.

@@TQGraham11 You can do it yourself, bear traps cost $11 each, attach a few of them onto the converter & pipe around using fence wire easy peasy.
They'll be out on bond in about a week SMH
Or you can have an aftermarket converter. They aren’t worth anything. (Maybe $10 resale) only OEM converter are worth money.

Here is a thought you have to have a license to sell a converter to a scrap yard. 1000 dollars per license!!!!!
So a one time fee of $1000 and you can turn in hundreds of converters legitimately? Considering what they make in profits, this wouldn’t deter anything sadly
@@bobsmithinson2050 while I do agree with the loop hole that it does create…… but it sets a barrier to entry…… then we could go from there….. I do challenge you though….. what would be a good solution that would help stem the theft???

Yep. And my car wasn’t even a really old car and model that they usually go after… 2013 Audi… stolen even after I installed a cat shield.
Just drive a 20 year old car and you will not have to have one on your car
Or in my case = just have a car that had some body damage & the punks pass by my car while other cars in good condition are getting their catalytic converters ripped off right & left !!!
