Hey Jubilee, I hope you can read all of the prompts in future videos 🥲 some of us may be listening to it like it’s a podcast and it gets confusing when the topic changed and having to go back to it all the time
I also want to see Black Americans vs White Americans meaning American citizens whose family lived here for centuries.I’m saying this because Black Americans have said that they don’t want Africans and Caribbean Americans speaking for them.
Gays are way more accepted socially so obviously people have way less stress/stigmas about it, and the conversation is more about trivial topics instead of focusing on topics of more importance/necessity
I feel like they just need a better group of people for the trans debate, it was so emotional but with more mature trans women I could see a better episode
Oml, excusing a few people, I felt like the whole trans debate was kinda hectic. People were like not listening to one another, talking over one another, not respecting one another. Yeah it was just very chaotic.
I can’t speak for everywhere, but I know in Seattle, nudity is not illegal. It is considered a crime to do something indecent like touching yourself or flashing someone in public, but public nudity on its own is not illegal here. That’s why we have the naked bike riders parade. Being naked by itself does not constitute a crime. I’m sure Seattle is not the only place in the US like this.
Just so we’re clear. Conservatives feel the same way about oversexualizing Straight Culture as well. It’s not like we think it’s ok for us and not for gays. We dislike it in both cases.
i feel like this isn't necessarily fair. I have never once heard a conservative get heated about mardi gras or music festivals or other straight events that might include nudity and sexualization. i mean at least you're consistent though.
I liked your post, and I appreciate your transparency when disliking the oversexualization from any community. However, we still see that many people all over the world allow for the justification of degeneracy so long as it's within the heterosexual/heteronormative lens. As one example, there's child marriage. People use things such as Religion, biology, and the potential for procreation as shields to justify child marriage (just to be clear, it's an adult marrying a child). Especially in cultures that allow for the child to be married OFF, even without their consent. Have you seen Men marrying little boys? Have you seen Women marrying little girls? Have you seen older trans individuals marrying younger trans children? I have not seen any instances of any of these (if there exist any instances, they would be as abhorrent as with the almost countless examples of heteronormative instances). As a member of the LGBTQIA+, living in a heteronormative world, we spend more time on the outside - as a global minority - looking in.
@@Lensical which Western cultures marry off young girls without their consent? The only one I can think of in Western culture is perhaps FLDS church? But even this was roundly condemned by everyone. Even when it was happening it was hidden by those participating in it. It is not “normative.” Who in Western culture is advocating for this? I don’t know of any Western institution that thinks this is ok. Maybe I’m not understanding what you mean.
@@scooberdoober1969we exist. I can't even watch music videos because of sexualization of singers. I wouldn't say I'm heated except for these videos being displayed to children, but I pity the artists for being exploited for their bodies when they have talents that I try to just enjoy and relate to.
@@jennrossotti8920In Western cultures, you don't really get arranged marriages, but they did say all around the world. But child marriage is still legal in 40 US states and it used to be all 50 until 2018
As a gay person, the over-sexualization of pride has made it uncomfortable for me to even want to attend the event. I don't wanna see indecent nudity in a public space nor do I wanna see it as a celebration of sex in general. There ARE places for that, and a public street is not one of them
As a European gay, I cannot help but wonder how this debate, on in my opinion very import topics, would go if you put European gays vs American gays. We do seem to live in different worlds. Maybe an idea for a future program?
European seems way too broad. I can’t imagine they have the same cultural continuity between Paris and Moscow as Americans would have about LA and New York. A Scandinavian and a Turk, an Irishman and a Bulgarian. You see the point I’m making. Too many different cultures and governments for any small group to speak for “Europe”
As a drag queen, let me tell you, I do not want kids at my shows. It’s 95% of the time hosted at a nightclub or bar, those are not spaces meant for minors. Let me drink in peace. I don’t want to have to censor myself or my art because someone decided to bring their kid to my show. That being said, I have done shows that were open to everyone at other venues where there were guidelines in place to make sure everything we wore or performed was appropriate for all ages. Also, Homegirl with the denim vest needs to hush. I KNOW she doesn’t let ANY of her friends talk, EVER.
Children should not be allowed to transition. I was the biggest tomboy when I was a little girl, I hated dresses and loved to play sports. I acted like a boy. Now I am the biggest girly girl you could meet. Just because I presented this way as a child, didn't mean I would want to transition into a boy. Children are forever changing their minds and are still discovering who they are, transitioning under the age of 18 should be illegal. If they carry that thought when they get older that they want to transition (over 18) then they should be allowed.
@Magnocalabro, medically transitioning and socially transitioning are two different things. Socially, transitioning is easily reversible and doesn't hurt anyone. Its just the way in which someone presents themselves in front of others. Medical transitioning is different, but most people on either side dont want that.
@@imjustaguycalledsano I know they are two different things. But children do not have enough mental maturity and knowledge of their own to tell whether they are trans or not, and apart from it they change their mind over a thousand times.
I like how they constantly validated each other, apologized, or stood up for each other even when they disagreed. I feel I like that isn’t common in these debates.
@@dandrechesterfield5411lol what? Men and women tear each other down all the time in life and in these debates. The fact that they were able to apologize and reconcile is extremely rare in Jubilee debates regardless of sex.
One thing I can't stand is when someone doesn't let someone else talk and keeps interupting them. Just seeing it is frustrating, and dealing with it even more. It's so disrespectful. No matter if you agree or not.
Well, Mario absolutely deserved to be interrupted. I hate this new "let people talk" thing because it allows ppl who aren't so smart to talk a lot of non-sense.
You know idk why these liberals get so offended when people mention kids transitioning.. cause I’ve seen some people say they regret it later on. Not saying that’s for every person, but they tend to invalidate those experiences.
I would like to see a middle ground on male LGBT vs women LGBT. Have a person represent each letter and see where we all stand within our own community.
The idea is that the two groups they get are opposing sides. Gay women and gay men wouldn’t fit this criteria on their own. That being said, they could do an interesting spectrum episode on it
I agree. Often Jubilee finds people whose job is being a talking piece for a political party (last week had 2 pragerU employees on the conservative side. It’s tough though because Jubilee wants to find articulate people with well defined views but most people don’t. I really liked this video though

It can be, yes. In a lot of cases, waiting means that the person in question has a very high chance of never reaching that age. It is incredibly uncommon, but there is a small handful of people who do end up being given medical care before they reach adulthood in order to make sure that they actually reach adulthood in the first place. Gotta hand it to Ryan, even though I generally didn't agree with what him or the other liberals were saying, nor did I like the way he acted when they talked about gender affirming care, my respect for him grew immensely when he owned up to his mistakes and apologized.
This whole conversation was a great watch. Much respect to these guys for standing up for what they believe in while also apologizing when they know they've crossed a line.
The closing was effin' golden. I was touched by the solidarity and brotherly love. Hats off to all of you and the production team for an excellent discussion.
The way most of them sobered up and apologized about their reaction to the affirming care question is refreshing to see. I don't think I've seen that in any other Middle Ground episode thus far.
Yes it showed exactly the potential to still move forward despite not getting anywhere :). It was a happy ending, which I didnt think was gonna happen at all!
We need some older voices in these. It would be nice to see the views of an older generation that has seen decades of change and can speak to the progress or lack there of on these issues. Not just for this episode but for all future middle ground episodes.
@@lplphgtdgvsfdsvjhjiuhjhmgfgfhg wtf we younger gen literally "debated" kink at pride, while the older gen know that it has to be there to destigmatize it. If anyone it's us who is out of touch. It's totally out of touch to think the elders are out of touch, when they got us through the doors.
I can agree with pride being oversexualized, especially in NYC. I saw so many penises in public, on the streets, people having sex, it was actually very uncomfortable and I haven't returned to a pride since then.
I didn't see any this year at NYC Pride. Only saw four people dressed inappropriately in the 13 hours I was out that day in all of the hundreds of thousands of people I saw. Where did you see this? On TikTok, RUclips, or in person?
Back in the 90s I used to see gay men jumping into the urinals to be p***ed at and men walking around in women's lingerie mastubating to twinks at the Pride parties. They were meant to be 18+ but we all know gay bars barely check ID. It was always insane, it's nothing new.

Mario was the best. Great example they should follow. If not for gays like him they wouldn't have the space today. I'm straight but an ally since the 90s and know how rude straight people were to gays in those days.
I’m a gay liberal, and I agree more with the conservative side. We have lost touch with reality. The way you get called names and painted in a bad light is insane.
@@hider23232It's funny how he called your type out and here you are. I'm a gay moderate that'll drag either sides stupidity, so I'm dragging you now.
Not having the older generation represented here was a huge missed opportunity. The idea that they may default conservative is a wrongful assumption. There was so much talk of the historical legacy of LGBT community in this MG but there were no people who survived the HIV years to talk about what the community was like back then. The community now is SO polarized and fractured into identity camps, I find that the only escape is to talk to people from the older generation who understand the nuances.
Yes, and thank you! I’m straight (woman) but old now and lived through the AIDS epidemic, as many of my coworkers then were gay men (and lesbians). I’m also in NYC and remember Stonewall.
Let's not BS each other - the "community" was always fractured. The gay guys in the scene always looked down on the lesbians until the lesbians stepped up to help them through the AIDS crisis. Now many of the older guys who survived have thrown lesbians, women and kids under the bus to advocate for "trans rights" in sports out of white guilt and survivor guilt knowing they never gave a damn about trans people back than. I have stories for days over the decades, the polarisation is nothing new it's just visible.
The third prompt really exemplifies the beauty of Middle Ground. People got really passionate and intense about their positions, but at the end, most were respectful, and even willing to admit that they let their emotions get the better of them.

As someone who is in the middle, I sided more with the gay conservatives. It really is apparent that conservatives have more common sense and liberals are drifting more and more from reality, at times says they are tolerant and all for everyone or minorities but end up showing they are intolerant and thinking about themselves, and if you don’t like it too bad, and they become inconsiderate for other voices or opinions that are different.

UPDATE: I REALIZE NOW WHY BARRETT ACTED THE WAY HE DID. THREE OF THOSE CONSERVATIVE MEN HAVE VERY QUESTIONABLE SOCIAL MEDIA. SO, AFTER SEEING THAT, I UNDERSTAND WHY HE ACTED THE WAY HE DID. THOSE GUYS ARE QUITE DISGUSTING TBH.
This is one of the best episodes so far. I think it helps to disengage a lot of the gatekeeping controversy we are seeing these days, by reminding us that "gay" is just a neutral term referring to the inborn quality of same sex attraction, and that being gay doesn't determine your beliefs, morals, fashion, etc. What a great group of people in this episode.
For me being gay is simply being attracted to my same sex. Anything more than that is just the culture made by gay people which I necessarily dont have to participate in.
True, but I still find I have an affinitiy with a lot of gay people (not all), mostly due to a lot of shared experiences. Straight people can be allies, but they'll never truly get it like another gay person will.
Wow, I'm amazed that half of the gay liberals agree with the gay conservatives on how the gay community has become over sexualized. I hope that's a sign for positive change to come.
Over-sexualization is a human problem, just like violence. Look at all the issues they're having in Japan with pornography, we need to learn to start taking sex more seriously and understanding it has effects on our minds that we don't quite understand yet and we need to do more research into.
As a straight person, I don’t even want to see straight people full nudity in public. This is such a wonderful debate. I loved watching it. Thank you for educating many of us.
Though, the truth is, no matter how much straight people do exactly the same and much much worse, this issue will still be framed as a Pride Parade issue. Why is public indecency only brought up when queer people do it? As if music festivals, tailgating parties, Mardi Gra, public events NEVER existed.
@@binaryvoid0101Honestly, it really just proves that some people fill find any reason to vilify the gay community, because as you said there are plenty of events that straight people have that have pretty much the same indecent acts within them. In Gay Land that's called "hetero normativity". Very few gays want that these days. And the ones that do get a partner try to be greedy and invite other men to have sex with them. The harsh reality is that its a game of optics. A group tends to be defined by its worst actors in the eyes of those not in the group. This is true of any group. You may not like it, but that's life. So when the dude said "We have a responsibility to police our own community". I see this as possibly the most underrated statement of the entire episode.
While everything you've said is true, the context changes under the conditions of the hegemony. When your group is not the hegemony, then your attention to optics is not under a stringent obligation to be as clean as possible. And if you have ire from the hegemony, that obligation to optics becomes near impossible to meet. Take a Christian hegemony for example. Keep that in mind.

I know many bisexuals identify as straight or homo because it's easier to belong that way, and sometimes it's just less scary (if you're a bisexual that identifies as het). But bisexuality is not a bad thing or something to be ashamed of. It's natural, normal and far more common in human beings than people realize. Anything outside of heterosexual is not normal or natural. We are created to reproduce, choosing a lifestyle against your creation is not normal. -an ex "bisexual"
There are more bi people than anyone else in the LGBTQ umbrella. We’re just invisible because people don’t know how to identify them for not fitting into one of two boxes. In that sense I think bisexuals, asexuals and trans people have more in common than people think. Not necessarily in specifics of experiences but the fundamental feeling of not fitting into a binary category of what people expect from you, whether socially, physically, etc.
Whenever someone says, "shame on you" in a debate, he has told everyone else that his opinion is superior and has shut down everyone else's opinion. He cannot be taken seriously from that point on. Barrett was more informed on the issues than a lot of other panelists tbh, he just didn’t cower when some of them started spouting misinformation. Which I guess is off putting, but that misinformation needed to be checked.
@@void405 I was saddened to see how rude and condescending a lot of the Liberals on the panel were. Especially Barrett and the red head. We're never going to bridge that gap when we can't even have a civil discussion about such important topics. In order to make change we need to work together. The Libs were so divisive and came across petulant and immature.
I really hope that Barrett learned to listen rather than interrupting. Especially since these topics do hit peoples heartstrings and we can get emotional about them.
One of my big takeaways with Barrett is it doesn't feel as though he ever came to actually have an open conversation, and to think critically about salient opposing points being made. It only feels as though he took this conversation on debate style, not listening to others, and just trying to continue pushing his personal agenda. It just goes to show how difficult it is to create a space for dialogue when you're so unwilling to even hear what someone who disagrees with you has to say. Everything was in one ear and out of the other with Barrett, while he scoffs at, interrupts, and lacks decency to acknowledge his own wrongdoing and apologize. But yet wants everyone to hear what HE has to say. Really pitiful.
@@vincentslashmarshall Being liberal literally means to respect individual autonomy and freedom of speech among other things. What Barret did was indeed very pitiful. Illiberal liberalism at its finest, look it up.

The blatant narcissism in some of them, particularly in fighting for underage minors to be able to make life-altering decisions regarding their bodies, is absolutely fascinating and disturbing.
So disturbing. The way they disregard the detransitioners like they’re nothing because it’s a “small percentage” Yet want laws to be put in place for 🏳️⚧️ people who are in fact a “small percentage.” The contradiction is insane. The way they can speak of detransitioners is crazy to me. Those people MATTER. They aren’t just collateral damage. We need more people like Mario to stand up and fight for our youth. I hate the narrative that underage people can’t get permanent life altering surgeries. It’s so false and we see it time and time again. These kids regret it. We haven’t even seen the aftermath of this. It hasn’t been long enough. So they can brag about how it’s such a small percentage. That number will increase. Believe me.

@@user-kg5lq6nd7q And trivializing screwing with that process. Like, pump the brakes, we need more evidence before we start maiming people, and treating people who happened not to be trans as sacrificial lambs for those who are trans.
It would have been interesting to hear the viewpoints of gay men who are over the age of 65 or 70. These men seem to be roughly the same age and the voices of older people who have had much different experiences, just like with any group, would have been insightful.
LGB is sexuality/attraction & TQ+ is gender identity. Sex can never change. Most straight people do want a fully working organ, in my opinion those that date trans are not completely straight. Also most want to be pregnant and have biological kids of both of both of them.
I didn't see anyone say this but I think that if someone should be voted the best mentality on here it's Clarkson the man in the white t-shirt. "Straight" is not a culture or a community, therefore, it has no metaphorical house in comparison to queer culture and community. Since queer people are members of the public, we can discuss/criticize public indecency in any public non-queer-themed event.

Exactly 💯
True, but I still find I have an affinitiy with a lot of gay people (not all), mostly due to a lot of shared experiences. Straight people can be allies, but they'll never truly get it like another gay person will.

WOW! very productive, mature adult conversation. They all listened and tried to understand where the other side was coming from! A couple times emotion got the better of them, but they immediately got it in check, apologized, and the person getting yelled at stayed totally calm and didnt yell back. On so many of these, when two people start yelling at each other, everybody else starts yelling, instead of trying to lower the temperature.
This video shows that no community is monolithic. There are so many layers and experiences in every community. Too bad not enough of these types of conversations don't happen in real life.
LGB is sexuality/attraction & TQ+ is gender identity. Sex can never change. Most straight people do want a fully working organ, in my opinion those that date trans are not completely straight. Also most want to be pregnant and have biological kids of both of both of them.

Both of my uncles are gay. Survived the AIDS epidemic and all that. They both say that over sexualizing the movement was the worst thing that could have happened. They just wanted to marry their partners. Didnt want to be praised, just treated equally. When they got that, thats it. They saw it as a win and called it a day.
In Gay Land that's called "hetero normativity". Very few gays want that these days. And the ones that do get a partner try to be greedy and invite other men to have sex with them. At one point i was thinking about castration because I'm really dissatisfied. My friends told me "If you want a real relationship learn to be attracted to women.
@@Titanhex You'll never win the approval of the extremist conservatives. But there are those who don't have strong opinions one way or another, who could be influenced with a strong impression. And that doesn't have to meet an impossible standard, just one that those who don't live in an extremist bubble would find reasonable.
@@TitanhexI agree to a certain extent, however, hegemony is not required to adopt standards of behavior deemed appropriate for the society you are part of. We call out extreme deviations when they occur in other groups. The core issue is Progressivism considers non-CIS identities are sacred and therefore there is no standard of behavior as they can do no wrong and can never be criticized.

"Bisexual" is not a bad word. People can be bisexual. I agree with Amir and Clarkson on that. I know many bisexuals identify as straight or homo because it's easier to belong that way, and sometimes it's just less scary (if you're a bisexual that identifies as het). But bisexuality is not a bad thing or something to be ashamed of. It's natural, normal and far more common in human beings than people realize. If you are into both sexes, even if you aren't into them in equal intensity, you are bisexual. And it's not a bad thing! --a bisexual.
Anything outside of heterosexual is not normal or natural. We are created to reproduce, choosing a lifestyle against your creation is not normal.

As a bi woman, I completely agree. My boyfriend knows about my sexuality and guess what? He doesn’t care.
I am bi but in a straight relationship and the hate i get from lesbians is insane.
There are more bi people than anyone else in the LGBTQ umbrella. We’re just invisible because people don’t know how to identify them for not fitting into one of two boxes. In that sense I think bisexuals, asexuals and trans people have more in common than people think. Not necessarily in specifics of experiences but the fundamental feeling of not fitting into a binary category of what people expect from you, whether socially, physically, etc.

tell me you have never been to gay pride without telling me
@@SarahSarah-rf9ikI have been to one, and I’ve seen it. Jockstraps thongs, pasties and all
@@SarahSarah-rf9ik bro we’ve seen them
Why single out queer people, though?
I hate that they keep saying “ privilege “ like it’s a bad thing. Thank your lucky stars that you are privileged and that you can do things that some people can’t. Be grateful and stay humble
but it's interesting, its often privileged gay people who are conservatives, because obviously they aren't dealing with homophobia, and they dgaf about people who do
@@FemboyKaiSakuWhat...? Um chile anyways so
@@FemboyKaiSakuhuh?…they still get discriminated against…they just handle it differently idk what you’re talking about
@@Zvromi did they get disowned or severely bullied at school? do they regularly get harassed in public?
if anyone goes through this they would understand why we still need to protest, still need the parades etc
but they be acting like we are accepted, even though most people still mistreat us
@@FemboyKaiSakudon’t even let them hear about the African and middle eastern gays though who still use pride in the west as a hope for a better life, only to hear that same hope go “wE dOnT nEeD pRiDe🙄”
This was by and far the most respectful and well measured debate I've seen on this channel so far.
Minimal yelling, minimal interruption and when one of those things did happen, people were reminded to wait their turn or called out for it.
More debates like this need to happen.
UPDATE: Barret blocked Clarkson and other people ( including me ) on his social media account after people gave their opinion about him on his participation on common ground.
:( Hopefully will transcend it all.
I follow Clarkson on tiktok and I saw one of his recent videos about that. It really just showed Barretts true colors and how immature he was
Typical liberals
Of course he did girl 😭😂 I did not except anything less from him LOL
Apparently he blocked Amir as well 😢
Clarkson is an absolute champ. Hes able to show compassion, clear thought, and he gets his point across really well. Barett needs an uppercut.
rolls reversed buddy
Yeah no
Yeah Barrett is super annoying, his views are so extreme and actually dangerous, Barrett doesn't understand he is part of the problem.
@@The.Ancient.1. explain the problem
@@The.Ancient.1.Can you explain what you mean by him being part of the problem? I'm not judging your opinion, I'm just genuinely curious. :)
"I'll clean my house before I tell someone else to clean there's" WHAT A QUOTE
Public events outside the queer community are not 'straight lanes' where only straight people can discuss and criticize. "Straight" is not a culture or a community, therefore, it has no metaphorical house in comparison to queer culture and community. Since queer people are members of the public, we can discuss/criticize public indecency in any public non-queer-themed event.
