  • This is all about how to treat your skin so that you get less dreadful, red marks from our great skin antagonist, acne. And, how to make them disappear faster! I’m talking mainly about Post Inflammatory Erythema (P.I.E) in this video, which are the red marks that are the aftermath of inflammation. I have the type of sensitive skin that turns red upon touch and any inflammation including mosquito bites, will leave marks that last up to 8 months! The way my skin reacts post-acne has changed drastically over the past 2 years due to some changes in practice I’ve made as well as a focus on certain ingredients. I will share with you what I find works, and take you through some of my Do’s & Don’ts!
    - I'm speaking of non-prescription, topical treatments. Although there are more effective ones by way of chemical peels and laser treatments too.
    - I have included links to some reviews of product suggestions below.

      Does sun exposure have to be directly on the dark spot (hyperpigmentation) to make it darker? And if i get 20 minutes of sun in my back, will that affect my hyperpigmentation negatively?

    niacinamide from the ordinary is saving my life! i’ve been dealing with really bad hormonal acne for a few months (antibiotics, duac and epiduo, all that great stuff lmao) and although it has calmed down in terms of pimple production, i’m left with pigmentation and pick/boxcar scars ;; i’ve noticed a lot of improvement with using the niacinamide serum, and now i got a cerave moisturiser with ceramides to help my skin even more. thank you for your videos, they’re so informative...... also your voice is so beautifully soothing

I learned it the hard way that what suits that person might not be good for me! I knew from you what ingredients in the product it will benefit me and what to avoid! 3 months and my skin never been better...so thanks a lot

    I have been using the niacinimide serum from "the ordinary" for 1month and you're right it's a life saviour for me for dark spots, uneven skin and unlarged pores as well. I discovered that ingredient in a SK-2 serum which I loved but stop buying because of the price. Vitamin C serum don't work for me. I always end up breaking out so niacinimide is from now on the way to go for me!

    • @gothamista
      @gothamista  7 лет назад +12

      Hi Dianna! When you start using concentrated vitamin C serums, purging happens. My skin purged for many many months when I first started using L-ascorbic acid. But worth it!

    • @HereDiianas
      @HereDiianas 7 лет назад +14

      Gothamista Hi the main reason I used it was to fade dark spots from old acne so getting new acne that will create new dark spots is not worth it for me. Plus my skin is extra sensitive so I can't even be sure the breakout will eventually stop... I tried vitC many times with different brands but the result is the same... it's just a sign for me to stop. But glycolic, lactic, malic acid and niacinamide work great for me. My skin just love those ingredients so I just stick to that :-)

And I was sitting here watching you whilst rubbing in my Vitamin C 23% suspension from The Ordinary, I'm so glad you specified that melanin inhibitors won't do much for the P.I.E redness, such helpful info. Hi there my homegirl Renee!! As you know (from my infinite comments lol) I admire,respect & all around bow down to you for your intelligent well researched articulate videos. I basically don't make a purchase until you say it's a quality product. With that being said, I have a serious question; What are your thoughts on derm rollers? More & more youtubers whose opinions I tend to trust are promoting the use of microneedling as a remedy for acne scars & anti ageing. While I'll listen to other skincare gurus, the information that you share with us is based in scientific fact & therefore way more influential & for me is the bottom line! I'd really love to know what you think. Thank you in advance and sorry for such a long post. As always with much regard, Amber

    My saviour! Thank you so much for your video. Clear, concise, and simple. Ive tried so many trendy approaches to help my skin from expensive Aha acid cleanser, retin a, benzoyl peroxide, African black soap, derma roller, various exfoliants, etc. And I’m finally winding down and really getting to the root of my problems. But the nutritional, natural, skincare, side of RUclips always says different things and contradicts each other constantly. I’m glad you’re not saying “you need this!!!” To 100 different expensive products and oils and vitamins etc, because people with very bad skin are very vulnerable and will believe that they do. Which I mean people have to be more considerate with these things because sure the products are usually harmless but it adds up prices in a big way. I’m only 3 videos in and I just feel like I’ll trust whatever u say lol. I’m relieved and thankful.

I am now in my late 20's and am dealing with the red scars my acne has left behind. Thank you so much for this informal video, I will be giving some of these products a try! 🙏🏽💕

Its very informative and helpful, more power Gothamista, and keep on making more vidz for us to watch and learn from. Love you from Philippines...

      Hello to all people who have issue with acne. I am 22 years old, and since I was little girl, I suddenly got horrendous acne covering my face. I tried all acne medications available but it was no good. I even tried many diets and advice but in the end i got some metabolism disorder and I ended up with even more acne. My last hope was to try special laser treatments and when that failed too, it seemed I will never find solution. Then I run across this page. It’s name is: *AcneCureOnline. Com* It was impossible to believe, and advice from this site helped me to cure acne! After only 7 days I had first results and after less than two months my skin was free of acne. All this thanks to secrets from this site

    your videos are so interesting! you don't just say what product you use and what works for you you actually explain what all these ingredients do and how they work and I feel like I am learning so much more about skincare!! I watched all your the ordinary review videos and some more about skincare in the past few days and I am actually going to watch them again, but this time with a sheet of paper and a pencil so I can write down and remember all the important stuff that would work for my skin. I have had acne for the past 10 years (since I was 12) and the only thing that worked for me so far was the acutane pill but it is extremely harsh on the skin and the entire body so I can't take that forever. the last time I had it was 2 or 3 years ago I think and it works very well but only for the time I use it and a few months after and then my acne comes back. I tried a lot of different skincare and looked up for korean skincare since I know it is more affordable than the ones here in Canada but even then I didn't really know what product to use that wouldn't dry my skin more than it is now. But with your videos I feel like I learn a lot about the ingredient in skincare and once I finish watching all your videos about ingredients I feel like I will know what to buy and what will be good for my skin. thank you a lot!!!!!!

    Funnily enough, all my breakouts become darker and darker until they are of a brownish tone. I'm never left with pink scars, they almost become ugly freckles. (Freckles are beautiful). My scars are all like that, and I'm light-medium toned.

      @@jessicarangel3436 use sunscreen that fine with your skin, but for VitC you can find in The Ordinary or Klairs or anything that worked to tou.
      I don't know which one Retinoids brand, because I never use retinoids.
      For AHA I think you can choose Pixi or Cosrx Aha 7, because that brand worked well on my skin.
      And Niacinamide you can try The Ordinary Niacinamide 10%, I really love that because slowly but surely the PIE gone.
      Greentea extract, this ingredients usually in toner or moisturizer and face wash. And for brands you can choose Innisfree, Benton or The Body Shop.

    I have actually found brightening serums really doing the job for me. I saw a huuuuge difference in about 2 weeks of regular usage of Sunday Riley's C.E.O. Rapid Flash, which contains 15% Vitamin C in it. All spots that were there for a couple of month already just disappeared or faded so much that a medium coverage foundation hides them completely. And most of the "fresh" spots just aren't as red any more, lol

    I just recently went nuts on the ordinary with Christmas money (well I say nuts but like 5 products?)
    I got
    ha + b5
    Niacinamide
    Salicylic acid
    Azelaic acid
    Squalane
    I usually use a mix of some of these after I wash my face and I've noticed my spots shrink and disappear and heal up really well
    I only spot treat with the salicylic and I only spot treat with the azelaic to help reduce redness of an angry zit because my skin is quite sensitive and I don't want the wreck the barrier
