      Uzma Ahmad anything with AHA & BHA. I'm from Malaysia, I used Hada Labo AHA BHA Tamagohada cleanser since it is easily found at Watson & Guardian. Ever since I used it, my skin changed a lot! ☺️ So much radiant than before.

      I really think my skin is dehydrated and this would help a lot. May I ask which products you use? I currently use oil-free hydrating cleanser from La Roche Posay and the oil-free sensitive skin lotion from Neutrogena. I also wear oil-free foundation, but makeup with oil tends to be too heavy for me x.x advice would be greatly appreciated.

      Katie Bounkeovisane this is true for me too! ive been using products for acne which are all really drying. When i switched to using gel type of cleanser (i use neutrogena hydrating bamboo gel cleanser) and a local toner here in the philippines that is for normal/dry skin, my skin has never been this clearer for a long time. i have really oily skin and my skin compensates the dry skin i have bcos of using acne products by it being even oilier. so yeah, ive been mositurising a lot and it changed my skin drastically. but then again, everyone else is different

    Things you’re doing wrong (video summary)
    1. Using alcohol based products. Alcohol strips the skin of its natural oils, this is especially bad for dehydrated skin. Use oils to signal to the brain that it doesn’t need to produce more oil.
    2. Products “tailored” for acne. Spot treatments dry out the skin, only use in emergencies.
    3. Overwashing. This strips away natural oils and damages skin barrier. Liah found skipping morning cleansing was very helpful
    4. Physical exfoliators. They aggravate the skin and spread infection. Use AHA and BHA (chemical exfoliants) instead.
    5. Fragranced products. Even “essential” oils.
    P.s take everything with a pinch of salt ;)

    🌴The acne skincare regime I’m calling out in this video is that subjects your skin to a lot of unnecessary stress in a daily basis. Conventional acne combatting routine would look something like this; Cleanser with harsh detergents (or BP wash) → Scrub → Alcohol toner→ Anti-acne Serum → Oil-free moisturizer → Spot treatment : The problem isn’t the benzoyl peroxide itself but it’s with heaping BP on top of BP to treat acne which misses the mark on how acne forms. However, I haven’t had a pleasant experience with using BP for over 6 months period and it never “cured” acne. If you insist use an acne treatment product, maybe use a light layer of spot treatment (only when you need it) and surround with good skincare products that are replenishing, skin-soothing, and are high in antioxidant property that won't mess up your skin's natural balance! Most importantly, before you change any skincare products, look at your diet, hormone balance, stress level first🌴

    • @nikmariaelenabtnikyusoff1366
      @nikmariaelenabtnikyusoff1366 7 лет назад +8

      so agree. i think BP only calms down the inflammation under our acne prone skin (it dries out the bacteria causing acne, if i'm not mistaken) but it never really "cure" our skin. this is from my experience. so unless my acne is severe (like in the past) i won't use it. i've had result with it but not permanent or at least not in long-term

      Yes stress is a MAJOR one at least for me. During the end of fall I wad stressing and broke out bad. All my active acne is gone however I have stubborn red spots/scars that have been slowly going away with additional products i got that work for me.i have been at fault for not eating well 100% but ive stuck tomy routine and has been working. People mix too many products, when i had active acne, i used a 10% BP face wash that helped me out tremendously. My skin reacted well and didn't get too dry above normal levels, I just moisturized and thats it. I have olive/tan skin with PIH although my after spots are red rather than brown . I've been using aloe vera the plant itself and gel to help with spots. Also yes BHA/AHA, dermarollers, and vit C is what I'll be implementing to see howit goes

    Hydration helps, but maintaining healthy life styles like eating hralthy foods, getting enough sleep, drink water, routine exercise works even better for me. I can go weeks only using face wash and sunscreen, and as long I have this healthy lifestyles, my skin are wonderful. But if I starts eating junk foods, sweets or slept for 4-5 hours a day for weeks, no amount of skincares can help me, even my dermatologist 😂

    This is one of the BIGGEST issues with American skincare. So many people in the US (where I live) have so much faith in alcohol, astringents, and oil free products and they often times hurt more than help especially in my experience. I had cystic acne to the point where I was told over and over again that the only cure was accutane. After switching to a moisturizing, repairing Asian skincare routine (combined with a prescription topical for spot treatment) it has totally cleared up. For so many years I have had "acne treatment" products shoved down my throat & it ended up prolonging my skin problems.
    K-beauty has saved my skin ❤️

      it'ssmay use dry oils such as rosehip, and hemp seed, and use a couple drops of tea tree, I never use more then two, you always have to use EOs with a carrier oil, never alone. But there are oils out there like sweet almond and castor which are heavier oils but I always use a dash of those with a dry oil so that it doesn't linger on my skin.

    same here I'm combating my oiliness using moisturizer.... and yeah I'm pimple free for 8 yrs . I came up with the idea because I realized that the more I use anti acne products the more acne I get...so I reverse it... instead of using non oily skin care products..drying out my pimples. I used moisturizers...anti aging...skin vitamins and end up with smooth and acne free skin... I do having some pimples and zits but during my monthly period only and I also observed that moisturizing my face helps me alot to reduce and disappears the acne spot... so I'm totally agree with you....

  • @Mammmma99
    @Mammmma99 4 года назад +4

    ”Oil free” moisturizers are not bad. As long as there are hydrating ingredients in it but just because it says oil free it doesnt mean that it doesnt hydrate. It can be great as a day cream under your spf and make up if you are working in a humid and hot environment. For dehydration you can use for example a hyaloronic acid serum underneath the cream for hydration. Like you said your sebum (oil) is moisturizing itself so it is really not needed to put even more oil on top. To treat acne it is all about balance, inside and out. But the rest that you said, i can agree :)

  • @eriihka
    @eriihka 4 года назад

    So I have oily/combination skin with acne around my jaw, cheeks, and forehead. This is my current skincare routine:
    Night:
    Cleansing Balm (if I have makeup)
    La Roche Posay Purifying Cleanser
    Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner (I recently switched from IsntTree Green Tea Toner, which I found wasn’t doing much to my skin)
    Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant
    iUnik Tea Tree Relied Serum
    The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% Zinc
    COSRX Advance Snail 96 Mucin Essence
    Sheet Mask (I use it every other day)
    The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23 (I’m thinking about switching this out with a Vitamin C serum)
    Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream (I’m currently hoping to try out an Aloe Vera Gel)
    Morning:
    Rinse with warm water
    Same toner, serums, essence, and moisturizer
    Paula’s Choice Sunscreen 50
    I’ve been using this for weeks, and while I’ve noticed my skin has gotten more hydrated, I still get breakouts and acne :(
    Any tips?

    저의 분노가 많이 느껴지나요😭😭😭 저도 여드름 전용 제품을 발라봤고, 브랜드를 수십가지 바꿔가면서 발라도 늘 효과는 잠시뿐 완전히 트러블이 개선되는 느낌은 없었어요. 그러다 작년 부터는 스킨케어도 유수분 밸런스 맞추는거에 더 집중을 했고 피부 본연 기능을 하도록 되돌리는, 스트레스를 덜 주는 루틴으로 바꾸기 시작했습니다. 익히 학습되어온 여드름 스킨케어루틴의 반대로 다 바꾸니 오히려 놀랍게도 개선이 되기 시작하더라구요. 여기에 호르몬도, 비타민, 영양도 더 공부하고 식단도 바꾸니 이젠 정말 저도 믿기지 않을 정도로 트러블이 나질 않습니다! 여러분들도 지금 스킨케어루틴 잘 살펴보시고, 잘 연구해보세요!

    Me: taking actual notes. Thank you girl! I'm so frustrated with my skin atm. My skin is extremely oily yet extremely dehydrated. Underneath the grease my skin is very scaly, red and itchy because I've been using the wrong products and techniques for so long, which have completely dried my skin out and ruined its surface. I live in Europe and before looking into Asian skincare (the philosophy as well as skincare products), I had never heard anyone mention dehydrated oily skin. I have a lot of acne on my T-zone, especially on my chin and it has felt like a long battle to try and get rid of it, a battle that I can't seem to win no matter what I do and how much money I spend on products. I definitely bought into the whole acne-prone, oily skincare marketing and promises. Now I want to start over and just think of my skin as normal skin that is just completely out of whack. I've already made a lot of dietary changes and will make some more to fix my skin on the inside but I also want to find the right kind of products, makeup and techniques to help calm the skin on the surface. Excuse my language but I'm taking no more bullshit from the skincare industry.

Alongside with shit tons of moisturizer in order to keep it hydrate(this also help ur skin to process things faster too, so make sure you keep them hydrated!), I felt like my skin is quite strong atm.

    MY ACNE STORY (RLY LONG) : When i was younger i had barely any spots or acne + my skin was rly nice but once i hit 15 i had massive acne breakouts + spots all over my cheeks, neck, and my chin like all over!! I'd used soo many acne products like clinique, clearasil, a special clinic brand but they all did no good. I managed to stick to a set of antibiotics and a set of contraceptive pills but they didn't help on their own. My solution was using acne.org : I have to warn u it rly kills ur skin, my skin became very red and very sensitive and extremely dry when i started using bp and as it was an all over treatment so jt would take aaages to dry. I stuck to this routine for around 6 months, the first 3 months i had major breakouts, id pop my spots and my face would be bleeding and id hate myself so much but by the the 4th and 5th months my skin was clear of spots. This may not work for you but for me it was a really significant and effective solution, it was a pain in the neck cos my skin got extremely dry and flaky (id have to bring moisturiser with me to school because it became too much) but it got rid of my acne overall. Im now using a simple routine with avene products as theyr very careful on sensitive skin and moisturise my face very well, im also using biooil for scars! if u struggle with acne talk to your doctor and try and give bp a go! Don't pop your spots as well guys its left me some nasty scars! :) good luck ❤️

    the first tip is SOOOO true! my dermatologist recced me la roche posay's effaclar gel face cleanser and it completely stripped my face from its natural oils, it was so dry and tight that i had to apply baby oil so i wouldn't feel like i'd get instant wrinkles. but then i started using etude house's sunprise sunscreen, which is on the oilier/shinier side and it was my skin's salvation. i was hydrated and protected from the uv rays throughout the day in a way i never thought could happen!

The area were I used to have 1 pimple just kept getting bigger and fuller of pimple. My skin were filling super dry but still oily ( even tho when I was young my skin were dry) .So yeah if you relate to this, please please try to not wash your face in the morning the natural oil is a good protection for you skin, put non comedogenic oil and natural product, stop doing to much exfoliating and washing with acne product. your skin will be prettier et pimple will go away

    I use a physical exfoliator really gently. I don't let it dry and then scrub it off. I gently scrub for about 3 minutes and add small amounts of water while still gently rubbing my face in circular motions. I go harsh on the corners of my nose and my chin to clean those clogged pores. I use the Neutrogena Matt effect exfoliator that also has salicylic acid and hydrogenated jojoba oil. It works pretty well on my skin ngl

    I know it’s probably hard to re-edit the video by now, but SLES (Sodium Laureth Sulfate) is actually okay to use 👍🏼 It’s a much more gentle version and is completely different from SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfates) which is the only one you should avoid ☝🏼
    I use mild low pH SLES gel and foaming cleansers with my acne-sensitive-prone skin and been doing great with clear skin and all. However, if you have super sensitive skin, you should avoid ALL foaming cleansers and go for oil/milk/balm cleansers overall. But definitely no need to avoid SLES 😊
    I totally agree on the fact that you should only wash your face once a day! I’ve experimented back and forth and concluded that my skin is much calmer and balanced when I only splash it with water or go with a cotton pad with rose water and jojoba oil as my only “morning cleanse” (need to get’em eyebuggers out 😜)
    Thanks for an informative video 😘

    I have even stopped using acne treatments prescribed by my derm bc they irritate my face so much and only give my a temporary fix. I still get clogged pores and pimples here and there but my skin can naturally control them and heal them. I'm just so happy with the results!!

    Using Cosrx Good Morning Twice a day, when I normally only wash with water in the morning, serums with actives, and chemical exfoliants as well as being either allergic or sensitive to certain essential oils ruined my skin, and as a result I’m now battling contact dermatitis, possibly rosacea, and acne due to a broken skin barrier... and I’ve only used hyped K-beauty brands targeting hydration. My skin used to be normal combination oily very sensitive. Now it’s just dry, red, inflamed and re bumps. I never used to struggle with acne in general, and now I look horrible. Never felt uglier. Learned my lesson! Too much too soon, and at once. And that I don’t need products just because they are hyped, and everyone else uses them. My skin’s needs is what matters. 5 months ago I had clear skin. Now I look like an ogre. Tried so many oils/serums (squalene, rose hip seed oil, beta-glucan...), and they all broke me out and made it even worse.

    Oh my God this video is really helping me to find correct skin care products !!! Thank you unnie !!! I really have bad skin because my face is full of acne especially on my T-zone. I used a product called **. This product cleanser has some fragrance in it. I used the product cleanser and their cream also. I started to notice that my skin became worsen. My dad, who the one that noticed of my skin because he's really concern about skin appearance. Before this, I swear that I have a flawless and normal skin. No pores, no acne, no flaky skin, etc. I started to have bad acne on August this year. That was when the product whitening cream discontinued because of the rumors there was a high mercury in the product. I used the whitening cream since February this year. I gave it a try because I started to have tiny bumps around my forehead as I'm always used makeup. I used the whitening cream for 5 months and my face became more bright and started to flawless. On June 2017, the whitening cream discontinued. I don't used any cream for 2 months because I waited for the new cream that they would launched on July (I guess). I started to use the cream on September and I noticed my acne started to grow continuously. My dad really wanted me to go to dermatologist to check on my skin coz it was so bad. The acne are big on my forehead till when I want to cleanse my face, I felt so pain. And now, thank God. My skin is slowly heal after I went to dermatologist.

    Hi Liah! :) Thank you for the video-- I realized about 4-5 years ago that acne products were doing more harm than good... And after going through a dermatologist-prescribed topical acne treatment that left my skin RED and extremely patchy... I switched to lighter products and started truly moisturizing my skin... And saw results! The products back then weren't nearly as good as the ones I have now... But it just goes to show that focusing on TAKING CARE of our skin instead of fighting with it is HUGE! 😱
    I am curious though-- would just splashing your face with water in the morning be okay if you live in an area with hard (more highly mineralized) water? I've heard it can leave almost like a film on your skin... Maybe it's okay if it's followed with a toner? Thanks so much!

      Liah Yoo 리아유 I'm actually relatively new to the area haha. :) I've lived here for just about a year now! My hair got hit the hardest at first... Followed by my skin drying out like crazzzzy these last few months! I tried going without washing this morning with just the toner followed by everything else in my normal morning routine-- felt weird, but so far so good! Nothing wrong with trying it out at least. :) Thanks so much for the quick response! ❤

      ccalmsunset I moved to a state where the water is hard and it ruined my face and hair. Not enough people talk about how this can effect your scalp and face. It dried me out as well as created a deep line under my lip :/ I am now starting to use distilled water, which had a PH closer to our face and is free of anything that could be harmful or irritating.

    I agree that sodium lauryl/laureth sulfate(SLS) is a cause of acne. It irritates the skin and leads to breakouts. Unfortunately, SLS is found in many toothpastes. I used to breakout around my mouth and never knew why until I discovered that the toothpaste i was using contained SLS. And if i did not properly wash off all toothpaste residue around my mouth, i would get a pimple or 2 around the outside of my lips. I switched my toothpaste to one without SLS and i stopped getting those "lip pimples". You can find out if the toothpaste you're using has SLS just by reading the ingredients list.

    I used to have such a fear of putting moisturizer on my face. I thought it would make my face more greasy and make my acne worse, despite what so many people and resources were saying. When I put on moisturizer, my face initially feels greasy and that feeling on my skin makes me feel like I’m gonna have a breakout. I finally decided to push past my fear a few days ago and started putting on moisturizer every morning. It’s only been a few days and I already see a difference in my skin.

Thank you so much and i look foward for your video about the good oil for our skins. (≧∇≦)b

  • @jhs3591
    @jhs3591 5 лет назад

    I think it depends on every skin. All dermatologist would agree that acne prone skin are mostly oily skin. They have studied that for years. But thats not only the reason, hormones and environment plays a big part too. Maybe your hormones got back to its normal balance when the time you used face oils. Our skin has season. Sometimes it breaks out, sometimes its flawless, sometimes its sensitive. But using oil for acne I think would result in cystic acne. Cause the reason why there is acne is the pores are clogged because of oil. So when you put more oil, imagine how your skin can’t breath no more.

    • @marykatie186
      @marykatie186 5 лет назад

      JB P face oils work really well for a lot of people! And there are a lot of different kinds of oils, too. Some are thick and create kind of a protective layer on the skin and others are lightweight and soak right in. You’re right that the causes for acne can be subtle and multifaceted, it can be a reflection of diet, lifestyle, environment, hormones and hygiene.
