  • Sharing with you the most effective treatments I've used at dealing with post- acne erythema (P.I.E) that also help smooth the skin texture and help prevent more breakouts from happening. During a breakout cycle, I focus only on using the active treatments that work to clear my skin. But after that cycle has ended and my skin is left a textural and pigmented mess, these are the treatments I run to, to sort things out. Enjoy my loves!

The premium version of the hada labo shirojyun (it has dark blue packaging) contains tranexamic acid while the non-premium version (it has light blue packaging) contain beta-arbutin - both the premium and the regular have two versions, a lighter one for oiler skin types and a heavier one for drier skin types, so all in all there are 4 shirojyun toners (or lotion as they're called in Japan).
I'm currently using the premium on one half of my face and the regular on the other half of my face just to see which one works the best for my skin, so far they're both doing a decent job, then again I'm also using l-ascorbic acid, niacinamide, azelaic acid and glycolic acid in my routine so excess melanin didn't stand a chance anyway haha

    • @machoke666
      @machoke666 3 года назад +19

Also for anyone out there who has never tried anything from hada labo and want to give their products a shot, all of their Japanese products contain parabens, which I personally like since I'm such a skincare hoarder and it's nice to know that at least I don't have to hurry up finishing my hada labo products because they're good for three years after the first time you use them

@@gothamista Thank you so much for responding! I ordered the toner from iHerb, and it arrived in three days. Yesterday. So hopefully I will start using the mask tomorrow. Aside from the fact that I think it will really help my skin. The main reason I made this purchase was with the hope that it might help motivate me to maintain a consistent skincare regimen. I have chronic anxiety, depression, and complex ptsd due to 18 years of physical, and emotional abuse by my mother. These issues make it extremely difficult to stay focused on being consistent with anything. Exercise, eating healthy, skincare, etcetera. My rationalization was that spending this much money, along with it's apparent ease of use would help me accomplish my goals. I never sleep, even with medication. So I will use this in the evening to wind down, and try to meditate as one of your viewers suggested. Thank you so much for introducing me to this product. In this moment, I have hope...:)

Thank you, as always, for your wonderful video! Do you use azelaic acid while you have Tretinoin in your routine? I currently use Tret in the evening and l-ascorbic vit. C in the morning, but the vitamin C proving to be too harsh and I'm wondering if I might have success replacing it with azelaic acid.

I'm ok with it not being out there as long as I know it won't burn my face off! I had more issues with p50 back then not revealing because it's so, so strong and I would've been more conservative when I first started using it. I trust Josh and this formulations besides, this definitely works and super well!

@Alex Lai I have the same formula! Mine is Tretinoin 0.14%, Niacinamide 4% and Tranexamic Acid 5%. I actually wanted azelaic acid instead of niacinamide, but they don't currently have that combo in their approved formulary. I just use a separate azelaic acid product applied on top after waiting at least 30 minutes. This formula is working really well for me!

Renee, fantastic video. Thank you. It relates to me because of my acne scars and redness. For my redness, I am using The Ordinary Azelaic 10% Acid. Do you think the Paula's choice formula would be more effective or potent than the Ordinary? I have to say that the Ordinary jar is very small.

Thank you Marjan! So when the ordinary azelaic acid first came out I really couldn’t use it. I didn’t like the texture at all and it was so drying on my skin. The PC one is so much nicer in texture and a better formula imo combined with other great ingredients.

This video's timing is right on point. Also just bought the Geek and Gorgeous' Cheer up. Small bottle to test. I think it's alright. I might get the bigger version!
I have been getting acne on my cheeks and chin (mostly chin). So I switched my skincare routine now and made it very simple.
    Morning:
    • 6% mandelic acid + BHA liquid (my skin is used to acids by now but didn't wanna go with something strong so I got this instead of the "Calm down" from Geek&Gorgeous)
    • 5% Panthenol + Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMF) for toner
    • Hyaluronic acid to trap the moisture
    • Vitamin C
    • Moisturizer
    • Sunscreen
    Night:
    • 6% mandelic acid + BHA liquid
    • Same toner
    • Hyaluronic acid
    • RetinAl (0.05% retinal serum) from Geek&Gorgeous
    • Moisturizer
    Hope it works :(

Great routines! I hope you don't mind my making a suggestion? - This only applies if your vitamin c uses ascorbic acid. In your am routine, perhaps switch out the Cheer up, and use the vitamin C before the other products so it works better! Keep us posted!

What products would you suggest for PIE from mosquito bites on the arms and legs? I’m pretty sure it’s pie because I can press on them and they disappear for a second. I have a bad habit of picking scabs. They get inflamed and then the skin gets darker and as they fade over time it’s more yellowish until it’s just a light scar. But I have SOOO MANY SCARS. And it takes SOOO LONG for them to fade
