      Have you heard of CoverFX? It's gotten quite popular and is available in Sephora (at least here in Canada it is). It was developed by a derm in Toronto for people recovering from skin conditions. I don't know too much about Perricone MD as a brand, but they have a foundation "serum" that is supposed to be less irritating to the skin than other cosmetics, and further claims some sort of skin benefits. I'm not an MD . Hope this helps

    6 years after Accutane, still waiting for my PIE to go away. I set my progress back a few times getting too cocky trying new products, thinking my skin was now perfect and invincible. 2 things inflamed my face like nothing else, making every red mark I've ever had come roaring back from the deepest layers (ones I thought were long healed)- coconut oil and b12 shots. Both disasters took a month to calm down after stopping the cause and two more to get my skin to where it was prior to those irritants.
    Thank you for all the knowledge! Makes me feel like there's hope 😊

    i’m only 13 and my hormonal acne is out of control, i’ve tried so many face washes but now i’m using the neutrogena oil free face wash you recommended. i use a clean and clear moisturizer but i think i’m going to be finding a new one.. i have so much PIE on my forehead and a couple spots on my cheeks. this is because i used to use face brushes and toners, so many harsh products because i thought it was good for my skin to be squeaky clean! PIE and acne has damaged my self esteem but i’m trying my best to fix it. your videos have helped a lot :) thank u !

    Thank you so so much for uploading this. You have been so much more helpful than the "medical professional" i went to see. It shocks me how some people working in the medical field are clearly not in it for the right reasons or have little to no bedside manners or proficiency, or worst case a combination of all. You are a lifesaver with the information you provide here, on your time, and i really, really appreciate what you do. I can't say that enough.

      I believe it relates to the type of skin you have, the drier parts struggle more with PIE, in my case, acne on cheeks leaves red/purple spots for months, and my forehead is fine

    • @luciasanchez1474
      @luciasanchez1474 4 года назад +12

      That's because the forehead is usually more oily so the barrier of the skin is in better condition than the checks that tends to be more dry. Moisturizers are key in these type of marks.

    EVERY breakout I have becomes a red scar no matter what I do. I don’t pick at my skin because like you said, it never ends well and I’m a nazi when it comes to sun protection because I don’t want my face to suffer. It wasn’t until a few months ago that I learned that I suffer from PIE. It’s incredibly frustrating and it’s honestly worse to deal with than the breakouts themselves cuz the spots don’t go away:(. My skin looks much worse than it actually is.
    Also, is there a reason why some breakouts last so long in the skin? I use a salicylic face wash and a spot treatment to treat my breakouts, but they last a very long before actually reducing in size and redness and going away. I have had many breakouts that do not go away for months on end and just become a hard bump.

      I also wonder if you have some nummular dermatitis? I have that and PIE and it's aggravating... I finally got a steroid cream and it is helping. I like using hydrocolloid bandages to help speed healing for any wounds, it's been a game changer.

    Thank you, Dr. Dray, you've helped me with my skin a lot since I started following your channel. Even now, with all the red marks I got from my acne. As you often recommend Cerave PM, I got it and have been using it for a couple of weeks now and already see some smaller marks fading away.
    Another product I decided to try was the Eucerin Acute lip balm (it has licorice) as I had a big red mark right under my lower lip that looked awful and after about a week of daily use it's already half gone.
    I totally found it by chance though, so I would be really happy if in the future you decide to do a detailed review of the European brands (Eucerin, La Roche Posay, Bioderma). :)

    I have lots and lots of these red marks left behind and I wondered whether you’d recommend the use of Retinol and vitamin C serum? I was recommended these products to help but I’d love your advice. It’s a 2% retinoid, vit c and vit e serum on a jojoba oil base. Thank you so much

      Sarah Stroud exactly! Im super pale, naturally blond and feel like when I talk about having breakouts and acne scars its mostly just this that is residually around after the actual comedones are gone. My non pale friends don't seem to get that because my skin is so, so light even when I'm not actively breaking out I still ALWAYS have stupid redness and "scarring" that is so noticeable because my skin is so white that any redness is magnified!! I do love my paleness and wouldnt have it any other way but It's nice to be able to put a name to what is happening on my skin!

      I've been to many dermatologists and they always suggest medication and tell me to not pick my skin.. I don't pick and haven't in years, they just pigment on their own, everything from a pimple to bug bite to a scratch 😣. I'm working on fading all of them now. Very frustrating.

    Question can you touch on sulfur wash? I may well have rosacea and this pie condition. Sulfur helps the appearance of my rosacea quite quickly. It does Nothing for my pie, and I get tingly if I leave it on too long. Not sure if sulfur is worsening the other? With tingling and rosacea I never know if the tingling is ok or sign of irritation. Thanks in advance!

    I thought the little segment you did on "home remedies" was very interesting, I am always seeing various diy "tips" online and never sure if it's actually safe or useful. Any thoughts on honey, activated charcoal, coconut oil, & rose water on the face? These are some ingredients I see commonly mentioned online.

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  6 лет назад +43

      just stop with all the diy skin care and "all natural" gimmicks online...there is no evidence for this stuff and it is largely problematic

    • @alexandrastegerean9475
      @alexandrastegerean9475 6 лет назад +8

      Coconut oil is highly comedogenic. As for the other ones, it depends on what kind you're using, if they are 'pure' so to say (e.g. 100% rose water without any other ingredients) but you shouldn't expect to see actual results with home remedies.

    Ugh I have this and have had it for years, I wear makeup everyday to cover the scarring its so embarrassing. I have followed your tips on moisturizing with face still wet and did see an improvement in the color, faded to a medium pink from bright red!
    I had bad acne in 2015, but It forever ruined my cheek area as there is deep indents from the scars. My plan is to figure out what causes my breakouts, try to get rid of the PIE as much as I can and then see a dermatologist for a treatment (Dye Laser or Microneedling).

    Hola Andrea, tengo que contarte algo, he recomendado tu canal en otras ocasiones a amigas y youtubers, esta vez, sugerí que entrevistaran a un dermatólogo, porque una maquilladora muy conocida y respetada, en su especialidad, estaba hablando de una rutina de cuidado e implementos que dañan el cutis, me contestaron el comentario y me pidieron el nombre de una buena dermatóloga y, enseguida pensé en mi favorita y admirada Dra. Dray, por supuesto si te invitan, estás en libertad de aceptar o no, pero sería una innovadora idea visitar otros canales, si no te gusta, avísame porque siempre te recomendaré, soy tu fan número 2, después de tu Mami. Well I’m not blonde or a redhead but I’m hella pale and my PIE is a huge part of my, not insecurity but discomfort regarding my skin. I really dislike when doctors tell me “oh but you aren’t a blonde/ redhead so you’ll be fine soon” I’m like duudeee can’t you see my pale af skin? Can’t you see my veins through it? I’m pale, I need help! They won’t prescribe anything so I must figure out what to use to fade them. That’s why I’m here and I’m so THANKFUL because you share information with us, unlike all of the dermatologists I’ve seen who seem to wanna keep the mystery and knowledge to themselves 😔

I'm 58 and since menopause, have been plagued with sebaceous hyperplasia. I am using tazorac and spironolactone to hopefully help with prevention, but I am wondering about the different methods of treatment for the lesions I already have. The lesions are so numerous as to feel quite disfiguring. If you have already addressed this topic, I hope someone will point me to it.

    Hello Dr. Dray, Stellar informative content, as always. I have a question about a skin issue I have been dealing with for about four months now...And that is, Is it possible to suffer from post inflammatory erythema from a very bad heat rash? In late July, while working outside in very hot, humid weather, my stomach and chest broke out in the worst heat rash I have ever had. I had thousands of small itchy spots all over my upper body. After at least 10 days of hydrocortisone, cold showers, and simply taking it easy, most of the spots disappeared, but several dozen of the spots have not. I now have red blotchy on my stomach and chest. My dermatologist didn't agree that it had anything to do with heat rash, but rather tenuously diagnosed me with folliculitis, prescribing a ketoconazole-based shampoo that did nothing but cause more dryness and irritation. I have since forgone treatment, opting instead to simply wait it out. Is that the correct strategy, in your estimation?

    Hey Dr. Dray! Could you make a video talking about proactiv please? I'm very surious to hear your thoughts on it

  • @DeadlyDie
    @DeadlyDie 6 лет назад

    Hi Dr. Dray,
    I just discovered your channel this week in trying to do some research on Differin before I committed to buying it, and I've been learning so much (and taking a LOT of notes!) I have had oily skin and acne since I was a teenager but I've never done much in the way of educating myself to treat it (I didn't even know there were different types of acne, let alone that I seem to have mostly the cystic variety) but as I'm nearly 30 I'm getting sick of it and decided I want to finally do something about it. I recently bought the Walgreens knock off of Proactive and I can't really tell if it's helping at all. I was curious if you think the brand name product would yield better results, or if you think Proactive is a sham all together? I know you mentioned in another video that three step process kits are not ideal, but you didn't mention Proactive specifically so I'm now just a little wary of it.
    Thank you so much for your videos! They are so educational and you're very kind to provide this information for us.

    Why is it better to go to a cosmetician for extracting blackheads and pimples? How don't they wound the skin? I am genuinely wondering because I planned on making an appointment.

    • @masic91
      @masic91 3 года назад

      They use a lamp, have good light so they can really zoom in your skin for correct extraction. Its really just hard to do it on yourself, because usually you just end making it red and irritated=inflammation. They also ”prepare” the skin before extraction and also use products after extraction for soothing or whatever your skin needs.
