I wish a derm and a makeup artist would work together to make a foundation lol
Ddz5585 lol yessss 👆👆👆
Have you heard of CoverFX? It's gotten quite popular and is available in Sephora (at least here in Canada it is). It was developed by a derm in Toronto for people recovering from skin conditions. I don't know too much about Perricone MD as a brand, but they have a foundation "serum" that is supposed to be less irritating to the skin than other cosmetics, and further claims some sort of skin benefits. I'm not an MD . Hope this helps
Dermablend is made by dermatologist

Great idea!
Clinique is too
The pimples i don't pop turns into hyperpigmentations but the ones that i do pop disappears within 2 days...
Poppy me currently 😂😂😂

Exactlyyy
I feel this. Sometimes if I get rid of one it will heal fast, if I don’t touch it at all it can lasts for weeks
Saaaame
I miss my clear skin man I had the clearest skin then one pimple on my cheek led to another then it just completely broke out luckily I got rid of all of it but I still have a couple red marks hopefully they go away soon
What did you use to clear it?
Omg same i was happy now because my acne finally cleared up but the red marks are still there and it looks like an acne😭😭😭 i really hope this will eventually fade😢😢

I’m so glad I’ve found your channel. I was so tired of all of those “beauty guru” yt channels. Thank you!
I have had this problem ever since my teens! I never really knew what they were or how to treat them. An Ulta employee once told me I need to exfoliate more to get rid of them, and recommended a physical exfoliant. I am so glad I found your channel!
Also wanted to add the exchanges happening in the comment section are icing on the cake. To know you're not alone and literally see people ask questions i had running through my mind (and answered). Just awesome. ❤
:)
This is the gem of youtube. THANK YOU!
thanks!
Pale skin, pale eyes, naturaly blonde hair... guess I'm cursed with PIE, and not the tasty kind :'(
I chuckled when I heard that part. I have dark brown hair and dark brown eyes, and very pale skin. Same issues with PIE =(
@@nat2206 same ://

6 years after Accutane, still waiting for my PIE to go away. I set my progress back a few times getting too cocky trying new products, thinking my skin was now perfect and invincible. 2 things inflamed my face like nothing else, making every red mark I've ever had come roaring back from the deepest layers (ones I thought were long healed)- coconut oil and b12 shots. Both disasters took a month to calm down after stopping the cause and two more to get my skin to where it was prior to those irritants.
Thank you for all the knowledge! Makes me feel like there's hope 😊
Thank you for another informative video. I know how embarrassing and depressing having acne, and those reds marks is. Avoiding makeup has helped a lot.
thanks for sharing Ms Rose
I still want a video about your college experience 🙈 it would be so helpful!
i’m only 13 and my hormonal acne is out of control, i’ve tried so many face washes but now i’m using the neutrogena oil free face wash you recommended. i use a clean and clear moisturizer but i think i’m going to be finding a new one.. i have so much PIE on my forehead and a couple spots on my cheeks. this is because i used to use face brushes and toners, so many harsh products because i thought it was good for my skin to be squeaky clean! PIE and acne has damaged my self esteem but i’m trying my best to fix it. your videos have helped a lot :) thank u !
Thank you so so much for uploading this. You have been so much more helpful than the "medical professional" i went to see. It shocks me how some people working in the medical field are clearly not in it for the right reasons or have little to no bedside manners or proficiency, or worst case a combination of all. You are a lifesaver with the information you provide here, on your time, and i really, really appreciate what you do. I can't say that enough.
thank you
Qué alivio, pensé que me había excedido al recomendarte para hacer una entrevista en otro canal de youtube, yo también te aprecio mucho.
You quickly have become one my favorite RUclipsr....thank you so much for share your wealth of knowledge
why do certain parts of my face scar more than others. I could have a huge pimple on my forhead and without a mark its gone. My chin and cheeks on the other hand im left with dark purpe marks.
Angelica Sardo yes same here 😩
me too
I believe it relates to the type of skin you have, the drier parts struggle more with PIE, in my case, acne on cheeks leaves red/purple spots for months, and my forehead is fine
That's because the forehead is usually more oily so the barrier of the skin is in better condition than the checks that tends to be more dry. Moisturizers are key in these type of marks.

Yes so helpful!! Thank you DR. Dray! This will help so many people and it has literally made my day to see this!
:)
I love that this is in depth and scientific. So many of these acne videos are superficial things that are done by people promoting a product or that use "natural remedies" to cure their skin in a week. Thoroughly impressed
Thank you so very much!! I am such a huge fan of all of your vlogs and Friday Q & A's.
thanks for watching!
Hello Andrea! I’m so happy to find your channel just today and instantly subscribed. Very informative, thank you!
Thanks! Glad you are here L)
I've only watched half so far, but this has been so helpful! Since finding your channel I've learned to leave my blemishes alone and wear sunscreen under my make up. These seem so obvious to me now, but no one taught me really. Thanks so much!
thanks!
Thank you for putting links to products available in the UK!
:)
EVERY breakout I have becomes a red scar no matter what I do. I don’t pick at my skin because like you said, it never ends well and I’m a nazi when it comes to sun protection because I don’t want my face to suffer. It wasn’t until a few months ago that I learned that I suffer from PIE. It’s incredibly frustrating and it’s honestly worse to deal with than the breakouts themselves cuz the spots don’t go away:(. My skin looks much worse than it actually is.
Also, is there a reason why some breakouts last so long in the skin? I use a salicylic face wash and a spot treatment to treat my breakouts, but they last a very long before actually reducing in size and redness and going away. I have had many breakouts that do not go away for months on end and just become a hard bump.
cystic acne can take several months to heal
I also wonder if you have some nummular dermatitis? I have that and PIE and it's aggravating... I finally got a steroid cream and it is helping. I like using hydrocolloid bandages to help speed healing for any wounds, it's been a game changer.
I can totally relate... My exact problem :\
Sameeee

Thank you, Dr. Dray, you've helped me with my skin a lot since I started following your channel. Even now, with all the red marks I got from my acne. As you often recommend Cerave PM, I got it and have been using it for a couple of weeks now and already see some smaller marks fading away.
Another product I decided to try was the Eucerin Acute lip balm (it has licorice) as I had a big red mark right under my lower lip that looked awful and after about a week of daily use it's already half gone.
I totally found it by chance though, so I would be really happy if in the future you decide to do a detailed review of the European brands (Eucerin, La Roche Posay, Bioderma). :)
Your so awesome! I had a pimple couple weeks ago and I listened to you and I left it alone 😬. It is now completely gone with no mark at all ! Thank you ! 😊😊
Thanks!
Such a wonderful video, so excited to have discovered your channel!
What is your take on using silicone sheets for PIE? I have seen that going on and I would really value your opinion :) thank you!
The freederm gel you recommended in the description of the niancinimide video was AMAZING!!!!!! THANK YOU
:)
@Calena1230
Was it helpful as a spot treatment?
Thank you, Dr.Dray. So informative!🌹
Thank you so much for your channel, you are so informative!
THANK YOU! After several rushed and expensive dermatologist appointments I was still struggling with red acne marks. This answered all of my laundry list of questions that my Dr. simply doesn't have time for.
Thanks so much!
Dr Dray. This video is really some of Your best work!
Love the Q&A. I look forward to Friday's, and the sessions. I have learned sooo!!! much . I have made the Fruity Bean, but I used pears instead of berries, it was delicious. Thank you sooo!!! much.
Thank you so much Ms Jackie!!! I am hoping to make them tonight too, and so glad you enjoyed them :)
I am literally addicted to your videos they are so informative, thanks! What do you think of snail extaction in skincare products(as a treatment for the marks, spots and other scars and maybe other benefits?
thanks! i discussed that in my asian skin care ingredients Q&A
I have brown hair and eyes, light-medium skin with red-purple marks on my chin/under nose area (probably from me picking at my perioral dermatitis.) I did the test and pressed the spots and they disappeared! Now that my inflammation has faded I now see broken blood vessels, I hope I can get rid of the mess the POD (and my picking) left! Thank you for speaking on this topic, I'm learning so much from your channel. You're such an inspiration :) I hope you post a video on your Dermatology journey someday!
The African Black Soap really helps with my acne. Also they make salves like Prid that can help, too.
Thanks so much for the info! Love your bubbly personality and sneakiness 😂💕
Hey dr dray, if you can, you should totally try going into korean skincare stores if there are any in your area, or head to a korean skincare isle of any store and bring out the crazy camera lady to do her magic! I'd love to know your take on korean skincare. I
m deep into it, but I'd love your perspective on it :D
brands you cna find there mostly: dr jart, innnisfree, skinfood, face shop, laneige, iope, swulwhasoo, pyukang yul to name a few
i did recently...the problem is that they dont allow filming near the gimmicky brands
Dr Dray Maybe just speak about the products? I’d love to hear what you have to say.
who is that tho in ur profile picture 👀
- oh wow really?
Super helpful. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the world. 🙏
thanks!
Hey Dr Dray. I love your videos and found them so helpful on my journey with hormonal acne and finally had the courage to see a derm privately (I’m in the UK) who prescribed Spiro.
I have lots and lots of these red marks left behind and I wondered whether you’d recommend the use of Retinol and vitamin C serum? I was recommended these products to help but I’d love your advice. It’s a 2% retinoid, vit c and vit e serum on a jojoba oil base. Thank you so much
I'm so glad I found your channel. I have Rosacea for a long time. Can I use the products mentioned on your description box for my red marks? Thanks in advance ☺️
Hi! Would pulsed light also be a good treatment? I have a local place that doesn’t do “lasers” but pulsed light as BBL- broadband light?
I'm here after popping a pimple 3 weeks ago. You are a lifesaver Dr Dray!
absolutely love your content! always so helpful :) thank you!!
thanks!
Thank you so much Dr. Dray!! I will share this video with my son who is on epiduo and a benzoyl peroxide wash. The improvement in his complexion is fantastic, but the red marks bother him. Such great info to share with him and I have learned as well!!! THANK YOU!!🤗
:)
Oozing common sense! Thank you.
Thank you so much for the knowledge! Could you please also do a video on acne scars and what we can do about them? I figure many people will be benefited by this. Thank you!

Hi, thanks for making this video! I 100% agree with the sun protection part, I noticed that using an SPF 50 sunscreen helped even within the first week which I had started doing a few days before I stumbled on this video! Also I'd like to thank you for putting UK products in the description, it's really helpful. x
:)
Thank you for the helpful Q&A Dr. Dray!
thanks!
Very helpful thought I had PIH for years. What would be a good routine to follow for PIE? Also do you recommend Aloe Gel for PIE?
Dr.Dray I LOVE your channel! How do you feel about topical antibiotics for acne?
thanks! they are appropriate part of management
Where have you been all my teenage years? Lol love your channel 🧡💜

Hi, dr dray. I’m so glad I came across your channel. This is definitely what i’m Going through right now and this video has cleared so many things up for me! Although unfortunately most of the products you have suggested below I can’t get here in Australia. Would you be able to suggest some alternative’s?
Hi Dr. Dray Thanks excellent Q&A and very helpful info!! Takes TIME....ugh!!! Enjoy your weekend and have a happy day:)
Thanks Ms Susan!! Thinking i will wash my hair tonight with the mop top sample you recommended. :)
I have this condition! I am blonde and fair with brown eyes so that explains it! Everytime I get a pimple I get a spot!
:) frustrating for sure!
Sarah Stroud exactly! Im super pale, naturally blond and feel like when I talk about having breakouts and acne scars its mostly just this that is residually around after the actual comedones are gone. My non pale friends don't seem to get that because my skin is so, so light even when I'm not actively breaking out I still ALWAYS have stupid redness and "scarring" that is so noticeable because my skin is so white that any redness is magnified!! I do love my paleness and wouldnt have it any other way but It's nice to be able to put a name to what is happening on my skin!
I've been to many dermatologists and they always suggest medication and tell me to not pick my skin.. I don't pick and haven't in years, they just pigment on their own, everything from a pimple to bug bite to a scratch 😣. I'm working on fading all of them now. Very frustrating.
hey! I have extremely pale skin and I am a red head with blue eyes and deal with this condition as well! since I'm late to the Dr Dray party and you commented this 10 months ago, is there anything you did that you found really helped minimize your red acne marks?
Katrina Lynn same question
Is it okay to use niacinamide and differin? Thanks!! You have saved my skin!
Dr Dray I'm thankful for those DIY scaries because they brought you to us! Much love!
Question can you touch on sulfur wash? I may well have rosacea and this pie condition. Sulfur helps the appearance of my rosacea quite quickly. It does Nothing for my pie, and I get tingly if I leave it on too long. Not sure if sulfur is worsening the other? With tingling and rosacea I never know if the tingling is ok or sign of irritation. Thanks in advance!
Great video Doc!!!! More great info!! Say hello to Mom& u girls have a nice relaxing weekend!!!
Thanks Ms Carol! Happy Friday :)
I thought the little segment you did on "home remedies" was very interesting, I am always seeing various diy "tips" online and never sure if it's actually safe or useful. Any thoughts on honey, activated charcoal, coconut oil, & rose water on the face? These are some ingredients I see commonly mentioned online.
just stop with all the diy skin care and "all natural" gimmicks online...there is no evidence for this stuff and it is largely problematic
Coconut oil is highly comedogenic. As for the other ones, it depends on what kind you're using, if they are 'pure' so to say (e.g. 100% rose water without any other ingredients) but you shouldn't expect to see actual results with home remedies.
@@jelkss right..
thank you for taking ur time and doing this your amazing
after a pimple goes away on my skin a light brown spot is left on my skin why is that?
My PIE is definitely the result of popping ): My active acne is gone but I’m left with these marks because I couldn’t stop picking.
Same.
It sucks
@@counterkidnapping1737 did it go?
yea exactly, like its been 3 months and it still wont go away and ive tried so many products to get rid of it but nothing works
@@seraphic3914 its pissing me off I have these f meltdowns because of it
I really appreciate your knowledge, thank you
I appreciate you and thanks for watching :)
Ugh I have this and have had it for years, I wear makeup everyday to cover the scarring its so embarrassing. I have followed your tips on moisturizing with face still wet and did see an improvement in the color, faded to a medium pink from bright red!
I had bad acne in 2015, but It forever ruined my cheek area as there is deep indents from the scars. My plan is to figure out what causes my breakouts, try to get rid of the PIE as much as I can and then see a dermatologist for a treatment (Dye Laser or Microneedling).
I don't pop them but I still get PIE 😂
Me too 😩
Thank you for another great video! What is your current favorite mineral spf?
the one that people will use consistently
This video was very informative. Thank you Dr. Dray
thanks for the video ! I'm more tan (nc42 in mac) and I've been trying to get rid of the PIE on my face ! I do think my spin brush made it worse lol
Loving your videos., though I’m curious for back acne and butt acne, how can we treat those?
I have a back acne Q&A
What do you think about oil cleaning the face with grape seed oil for makeup removal?
Dr. Dray, you mentioned that ingesting green tea might help PIE. I'm 19. Is it safe to drink it regularly? If yes, what is the best time to consume it? Thank you so much! Godbless.
Thank you for making this video - am sharing this with my teenage daughter who has red hair and very pale skin.
:)
Thank you! What do you think of the brand Simple? It’s a british brand with simple ingredients, kinda like ceraVe and Vanicream.
it is fine
Besos.
Muchas gracias por la mencion! Te aprecio
Hi Dr Dray. very informative video. May I ask you one question. Is it okay if i put aloe vera gel on my face ang leave it overnight even if I have post inflammatory skin. hope you notice me. thank you
Well I’m not blonde or a redhead but I’m hella pale and my PIE is a huge part of my, not insecurity but discomfort regarding my skin. I really dislike when doctors tell me “oh but you aren’t a blonde/ redhead so you’ll be fine soon” I’m like duudeee can’t you see my pale af skin? Can’t you see my veins through it? I’m pale, I need help! They won’t prescribe anything so I must figure out what to use to fade them. That’s why I’m here and I’m so THANKFUL because you share information with us, unlike all of the dermatologists I’ve seen who seem to wanna keep the mystery and knowledge to themselves 😔
Hey Dr Dray! I had really bad cystic acne and was taking accutane for 2 years. It’s been 3 years since & I still have lumps under my skin which feels like dormant cystic acne. Is that was it is, or is it something like scar tissue? How would you treat this, does it need laser treatments...
For some reason this video made me feel better about my skin
Thank you, very informative...Do you have any thoughts about the Hanacure mask that’s so popular now?
gimmicky
Thank you for all your help.
My derm suggested hydrocortisone cream 2.5 % for 2 weeks + 30% salicylic acid peel. What do you think? Thank you very much
Hey Andrea ponds clarant b3 has first ingredient nicinamide . Is that ok for my acne prone skin ? It has last 4th ingredient fragrance too plz review some of their ponds moisturizers plz thank you
Can PIH also be from acne scars or be more of a red brown on paler skin
Thank you for being so generous with your expertise! I have radically changed my skin care (including daily sunscreen) thanks to you. I'm 58 and since menopause, have been plagued with sebaceous hyperplasia. I am using tazorac and spironolactone to hopefully help with prevention, but I am wondering about the different methods of treatment for the lesions I already have. The lesions are so numerous as to feel quite disfiguring. If you have already addressed this topic, I hope someone will point me to it.
thanks so much!
Great video as usual!!!
thanks so much!
Hello Dr. Dray, Stellar informative content, as always. I have a question about a skin issue I have been dealing with for about four months now...And that is, Is it possible to suffer from post inflammatory erythema from a very bad heat rash? In late July, while working outside in very hot, humid weather, my stomach and chest broke out in the worst heat rash I have ever had. I had thousands of small itchy spots all over my upper body. After at least 10 days of hydrocortisone, cold showers, and simply taking it easy, most of the spots disappeared, but several dozen of the spots have not. I now have red blotchy on my stomach and chest. My dermatologist didn't agree that it had anything to do with heat rash, but rather tenuously diagnosed me with folliculitis, prescribing a ketoconazole-based shampoo that did nothing but cause more dryness and irritation. I have since forgone treatment, opting instead to simply wait it out. Is that the correct strategy, in your estimation?
Have this condition now. Thanks Dr. Dray for the infos. 💕

Hi Dr. Dray, great video!!! I just found your channel. I got a question, what are other options than poking at a pimple? My pimple are not red or inflamed. They are closer to Whitehead and blackhead. Do you have a video to treat them? Pls advice
Hi Dr dray, thankyou so much for this video !! As you have said moisturiser is important when it comes to acne skin.. is is using The ordinary 100% derived squalane oil before I use my moisturiser a good idea ? for extra moisturising/hydration.

Hi Dr.Dray. Is peel off mask is good for face?
Does vitamin c helps or should be avoided? Thank! Really informative and helpful

Hey Dr. Dray! Could you make a video talking about proactiv please? I'm very surious to hear your thoughts on it
i love proactive
Hi Dr. Dray,
I just discovered your channel this week in trying to do some research on Differin before I committed to buying it, and I've been learning so much (and taking a LOT of notes!) I have had oily skin and acne since I was a teenager but I've never done much in the way of educating myself to treat it (I didn't even know there were different types of acne, let alone that I seem to have mostly the cystic variety) but as I'm nearly 30 I'm getting sick of it and decided I want to finally do something about it. I recently bought the Walgreens knock off of Proactive and I can't really tell if it's helping at all. I was curious if you think the brand name product would yield better results, or if you think Proactive is a sham all together? I know you mentioned in another video that three step process kits are not ideal, but you didn't mention Proactive specifically so I'm now just a little wary of it.
Thank you so much for your videos! They are so educational and you're very kind to provide this information for us.
I've been waiting for this for so long!!!
i hope it helped
Me too and i just now saw it but so happy Dr Dray came and saved the day again. It sucks enough to have something like this but it's just so much worse when you don't know what to do or even what definitely not to do. This helped so much
Why is it better to go to a cosmetician for extracting blackheads and pimples? How don't they wound the skin? I am genuinely wondering because I planned on making an appointment.
They use a lamp, have good light so they can really zoom in your skin for correct extraction. Its really just hard to do it on yourself, because usually you just end making it red and irritated=inflammation. They also ”prepare” the skin before extraction and also use products after extraction for soothing or whatever your skin needs.
Thank you for all information. I have a question. What do you think about Biorepeel for acne prone skin? :)
Dammit. I have done ALL of these things that you advise against..my skin is scarred, my entire adult life I've had unsightly skin. Self esteem issues as a result ......promoting my pursuit of all sorts of 'snake oil' fixes. It makes me horribly sad that my skin is in such a poor state due to my poorly educated attempts to make it better. Thank you for you info sharing
Leith Kelsey I feel ya. Me too. I abused my skin my whole life trying to get rid of acne.
