Closed comedones are more difficult than regular acne 😭
Fr
@Learnalogy yeah i do I’ve been using panoxyl 10% face wash and it’s been clearing the closed comedones and some acne that I had and I don’t get any break outs anymore also if your going to try panoxyl make sure you moisturize very good because it can be very drying at first until your skin gets use to it
Also make sure you don’t use any other products when using panoxyl except for a moisturizer
@Learnalogy i used tretenoin as well but it broke me out so bad so I stopped using it. I recommend using the panoxyl 10% face wash and then using cerave moisturizing lotion or cream and then for the dark spots wait until after all of your comedones are gone to treat those
@Learnalogy i had comedones mostly on my forehead and jaw line. And the routine was panoxyl 10% face wash day and night and then cerave moisturizing cream day and night and that’s basically it. Try not to put to much stuff on your face because that can break you out

Hey is your skin clear now?
Adventure Awaits Sadly no 😞. Still fighting this fight. I’ve been prescribed spirnolactone but I don’t want to medicate to cure my issue as I feel that’s just a temporary solution. I’m trying to go the natural route and take supplements. I’ve been looking into Zinc, Vitamin A, and Pantothenic acid. Just got my bottle of Pantothenic acid and will start my journey on it today! Praying this works 🙏🏼

You are like the ideal college professor 👩🏼🏫 You know exactly what you’re talking about, you stay up on studies, and you know exactly how to explain things in a simple way and stay engaging and not boring. Thanks for putting this content out you’ve changed a lot of my practices. 💕
rachelaleece I second that motion!!
And you're going to get an amen here!
Yes! Agreed. I love learning from you.
She's a dermatologist 🤣
@@samanthaschultz6082 I’m aware. I meant professor as I’m learning so much from her
I love how I can actually trust the information you give and not wonder if it's true. So many people talk about their experience with acne and can speak on what worked for them, but most can't say why it did. So grateful you go the length of breaking it all down for us.
Thanks!
I followed your advice to use benzoyl peroxide and Differin gel at night and now my comedonal acne is healed. It took me a year to reach full results, but now my skin is clear and the postinflamatory hyperpigmentation is fading, of course I also apply tons of sunscreen :)
Please could you tell how you use them ?? Both in the same time or one every other day??
gloria guzman glad to hear 💙
Halima Errami dr dray has past videos for am and pm routine explaining how to use them.
@@halimaerrami4173 I do exactly what Dr. Dray explained. At night, I wash my face with a benzoyl peroxide wash, rinse it and then apply my moisturizer on my wet face. Once it's dry, I apply the Differin.
The next morning I just splash some water on my face to wake up, pat dry and apply my sunscreen. That's all I do.
I love hearing about people's results! Thanks for sharing
As someone who suffers from adult acne, melasma, and aging skin, your skin care advice has been life changing. Particularly your instistance that even acne prone skin needs daily moisture, and how to properly use it with acne treatment. Thank you for sharing your knowledge! ❤️
Her SKIN!!! It’s so glowy and gorgeous 😍
Anytime I look for skin care tips online it sends me to your RUclips! You’ve been so helpful ❤️
Dr Dray, Can you make a video explaining all different types of acne with pictures so it's better to understand? Explaining everything...types of closed comedones and open comedones. I think pictures will help us to differentiate everything properly. There is so much misinformation online so I think this would be great to properly educate everyone.
Lilly Mathews
You can try googling them.
@@sct4040 Googling them made it even more confusing because sometimes it shows the same pictures for different types of acne. I am unable to differentiate and say which one is right cause I have no idea how each type differs from each other. That's why I wanted her to make a video on this cause she knows the right information.
@Lilly Mathews...Exactly and open comedones or closed comedones all over my face... its very hard what to use and what not to without understanding.. if you got any sort of help please let me knw..m tired of trying everything...
@@jyotipradhan422 I still have no clue tbh 😅... because googling just made things more confusing for me. Also for us in India, we unfortunately don't have access to a lot of good products...we have to adjust with what we got.
Lilly Mathews I hope Dr.Dray see these msgs and help us... confused and frustrated as hell.. And one day we could proudly say “Thankyou Dr.Dray for helping us”..😊
Wow! You’re looking great, Dr. Your skin is amazing!!!
thanks
Omg!!! That’s crazy!! You can’t extract closed comedomes?? That’s why I have such a hard time “popping” them to the point where I scratch my skin. 😬 I’m so glad I know this now. I am confident my skin will get better now that I have an understanding
This video was sooooo helpful! Wish I could put multiple likes!! Thank you Dr Dray. You're so informative and helpful. Your videos are so educational! Thank you so much for helping us all improve our skin! 💜
Thank you for this video! I suffer from CHRONIC and severe comedonal acne (probably those sticky skin cells) on top of cystic acne, and it’s taken more than 6 months for medication and treatments from my derm to really work... I’m on Accutane and also 0.05% tret (and salicylic acid + sulphur wash) every night but STILL get comedones! Thanks for the pointers, Dr!
I still get comedones too on benzoyl peroxide and tret .025
Hoping for a new derm soon so i can try to get rid of these babies soon
Hi Dr. Dray! I love your videos! What do you think of that Cera Ve Salicylic Acid wash? Have you ever used that? Also, do you offer skin consultations at all? Thanks again!
This was very helpful. I was always trying to figure out why I have bumps under my skin and how to get rid of them. Thanks.
I really don’t know what I would do without this channel ❤️ You are the best
Thank you Dr. Dray. This information is so beneficial. Hope you have a wonderful weekend,
It might be a great idea to do a video on differentials for acne that’re less common! Eg folliculitis, pseudofolliculitis barbae, pustulopapular rosacea, pityrosporum etc. love the video!
Can help people understand when to see a dermatologist rather than self manage, and why their ‘acne’ isn’t responsive to conventional therapies :))
Wow. Wow. This is what I needed. I don’t have any acne more but closed comedones won’t go away.
did it go?What helped you?
Wow! Your skin looks extra amazing in this video!
Great information here. Can't wait to use some of this knowledge towards my own comedones
I wish I had known all this years ago, I have been suffering with this on my chin for a few years now and I have over the years tried to get pus or whatever out of them and now i have scars/acne on my chin along with the closed comedones, thank you so much for sharing this video.
Happy Friday Dr. Dray. I know it's late, but, I did a lot of decompressing and relaxing today and sometimes that means taking a break from social media. But, when the content is educational and inspiring I don't feel as bad taking a peek. See ya this weekend.
ive been struggling with these for so many years and it's so hard not to squeeze them as that's the only method they seem to go away with, i just need to exercise patients with my products!! thank you for the detailed video :)
Thanks for the updated video on this. Happy Friday, Dr. Dray!
Happy Holidays Dr. Dray!🍁

these comments makes me feel like i have a LOOOONG way to go lmao but i hope i get to have a nice skin in the end because I’ve had this type of acne since i was 12 and im going to be 19 in two months and i STILL HAVE this comedone thingy :(

Thanks for all the info and have e great weekend! 🤗
Hi Dr. Dray! I watched your old video about comedones about a month ago. Aside from occasional hormonal acne, comedones are one of my main skincare issues. I've been using La Roche Posay Effaclar since then and I've seen amazing results! Thank you for sharing this information with the public!
Is it by mistake La Roche Possay Effaclar Purryfing gel for oily and senstive skin? I have it on my counter but I didnt use it yet. I have a lot of closed coms on my chin and I dont know if it is good.
do you use it everyday? i also struggle with comedones mainly on my forhead

Hi dr Dray. Thanks a lot. Such useful video! Have a great weekend!
This video was super helpful. Thank you ❣️
I love that inkey list wash! It is a non-foaming gel wash, low pH. I actually use it as a mini mask in the mornings. I apply it to my affected areas as soon as I wake up, and leave it on while I use the toilet and brush my teeth, then I rinse everything off. And it is so well priced too!!
What type of skin are you? Im considering buying it!
@@andreaherrera141 I'm combo, oily t zone, dry cheeks and chin. I only apply the inkey list cleanser to my nose and forehead, routinely. I got another bottle in the Sephora sale!

How did you get rid of them?
Me too... I used to go on comedown squeezing rampages and then my chin would be absolutely ruined afterwards for at least a week 😒 so hard not to though!!!
Great video, Dr Dray!
Could you please talk more about Alba Botanica’s sunscreens and moistruisers? Some of them seem to be fragrance-free.
Nothing has helped me more than not picking/touching my face! It's hard to curb but once you do it's really night and day.
What a fantastic video. So informative. Thank you
Thank you so much doc! i finally understand what type of skin i have and what i was doing wrong my whole life. This video was so helpful! god bless you🥰🥰

Thank you for that video. I am currently pregnant and struggled with closed comedones for years. As soon is safe for me to try salicylic acid I will go for it and see how it goes with 3-4 months of testing. Really helpful video.

Happy Friday Dr Dray and everyone .This was wonderful . I still have acne prone skin at 56 and I am really enjoying the Zapzyt SA cleanser in the AM. I tried benzyole wash at night and the next morning my face was hot and my jaw was red like a sunburn . It took a few days to calm down . I have also switched to fragrance free products which has made a big difference . Have a great weekend

You have the best skin I've ever seen in my life :( I would give my whole bank account to have skin like this 😭😭😭
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU DOCTOR!!!!!
I’ve been struggling with comedogenic acne for 5 months, I don’t know why. I’m 27 yo and I’ve never dealt with acne issues before. I’ve got really scared, I’ve tried many products and nothing worked... Now it’s been only 4 days since I’ve started using benzoyl peroxide 10%, (same formula of zapzyt in my country) and it’s almost everything gone! My forehead was fully covered with those small “closed” points. Some became red and painful normal zits, but they’re leaving my face as well... I think my face will look normal again in 2 weeks! Thank you again 💕
Hello! So i have had closed comedones on my cheeks for a while now and I've always thought about trying a gel they sell here with benzoyl peroxide 5% or 10%. Was the 10% one too harsh on your skin based on your experience?
Caterina Clemenza heyy, so yes... it is too harsh, in the beginning I got really dry skin and now I’m still dealing with some redness in the morning. Although some websites say your skin get use to it and actually it is less dry now, I’d advice you to try 5% before
@@ninanakale thank you !😊
Do you have any tips on what should i use?...i have closed comodones on my chicks..please reply
Time to grab some popcorn 🍿
Yes!! Thank you for this!!
AHA's and BHA's work for me in terms of closed comedones. It was the only alternative to tretinoin (which I started using at 17) before the days of The Ordinary. Adapalene didn't do it for me. Intrigued by Azaleic Acid.
Hello..I know this is like 2 years later HAHA but how long did you use BHA to see full results?
Dr Dray thank you so much for your great content 🙌🏻! I've just bought La Roche Posay SPF 50 - anti-imperfections (with salicylic acid). Do you recommend not using another leave-on product containing salicylic acid at nightime? Also, is it safe to use it all over my face? I'm concerned with my undereyes area. From what I understood from your previous videos, it also needs protection. Thank you 😊
i wonder if you could make a piercing care video. i know its random but i know a lot of people must have problems and go to the derm. i think it would help w so many myths and stuff that people suggest to use. thanks for all the effort u put into the vids
Thank you for all that you do.
Dr Dray please tell me what the best sunscreen is for closed comedones. So many either create more of them, creates pimples or increases the oil production on my skin. Also, what is the best way to integrate vitamin c into a routine that won’t prevent the products used to get rid of the closed comedones from working. I need major help.🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Just bought the Paulas Choice azelaic acid. I've been struggling with my skin because it tends to feel dry, tight, and irritated so I use all really gentle moisturizing products.. But then I break out on my T zone and get these closed comedones on my forehead. I have used the ordinary azelaic acid, but really don't like the weird powdery texture.. It makes my skin feel tight and dry afterwards. I have seen it help my skin a bit, but I have much more faith in Paua's choice. Plus, right now you can get it in the travel size for $10. I got it for $8 through a sale.
Got myself the whole clear line with the sale. Even got a free gift bag with some extra goodies!
I have the same skin situation going on, how has your skin been after 3 months? Considering the trial version since it's on sale.
Hello Doc, thank you so much. You are a gem! I would like to ask what can you tell about Malin & Goetz products please. Their peeling pad, cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen. Love love you.
Thank you for all you do, Dr Dray. You have no idea how much you have helped me with my skin! I have a question regarding retinoids - I use tazorac on a regular basis and i do tolerate it very well. Of late I have been using Sunday Riley Good Genes and I find that it suits my skin ---I have read differing opinons on whether I can use lactic acid and tazorac together on the same night ---would you mind clearing this up for me please - can I use both products together on a daily basis or should I be alternating. I do use the PC azelaic acid in the morning. Thank you!
Salisylic acid is LIFE! On my face I use it mostly in a leave on products, and in wash form on my scalp and body.

my skincare routine
-Cerave cleanser foaming
-inkey list salicylic acid cleanser (3-4 times a week)
-lactic acid the ordinary (3 times a week)
-inkey list retinol( i only use on the days i don’t use lactic acid)
-cerave moisturiser lotion
-bondi sands sunscreen ( gonna stop using this because i think it’s making my skin greasy )
- indian clay mask (once a week)
don’t worry i don’t mix the active ingredients at the same time
does cerave cleanser help for treating closed comedones?
I had used the cerave foaming cleanser for two months. It had niacinamide and ceriamides. I know air conditioning and heaters dried out my skin along with a hair conditioner with essential oils by ors ruined my skin. But I normally use acne wash to keep my skin clear and by changing that product my whole face broke out . It did not wash away everything including hair products in shower and night time face washing.
That is so much >.
