Hi! My go to would be a tinted sunscreen that’s broad spectrum and contains “iron oxides” in the inactive ingredients. Then a retinoid over time will even out pigment. I would also consider gentle chemical peels that are targeted at dyspigmentation like cosmelan!

My dermatologist said I have fungal acne, he prescribed me oral and topical medication, it didn’t improve my skin much, also I started loosing a lot of my hair after the medication. So someone told me to use Apple Cider Vinegar on it. It helps me, I still use it, but it doesn’t go away completely. 😣
I asked the dermatologist if my widespread chest and back acne could be fungal as it is itchy sometimes, and he said "clinically it looks the same; there's no way to tell the difference." He just prescribed a topical antifungal and a couple topical for regular acne and left the room. I'm pregnant so I understand my options are limited. Just trying to get it under control before my wedding in like 6 weeks. Didn't have this skin issue when I chose a backless dress with a plunging neckline.😫
I suffered with this years, and didn’t know what it was. I went to the doctor once, and he told me it was fungus. I somehow never took him seriously, because of how he just casually glanced at me, said it could be fungus, gave me some trial ointments that were sitting on his desk (that worked by the way), and sent me on my way. All this time I thought he was not sincere with his diagnosis. Years later, I’m now understanding, he knew what he was talking about. The ointments worked, and then I stopped using them, and after a while it came back. I used a desperate method of exfoliating gloves/brush and some laundry detergent mixed with my regular Dove soap to finally keep my fungal acne at bay.
Is it possible to get fungal acne overnight? - this morning I woke up with an itchy rash like spread of tiny uniform bumps across my chin...it definitely was not there yesterday 😭😭😭
Hey there! I was treating my regular acne with topical antibiotics for about a year, and it started to stop working so my doc gave me doxycycline which ended up giving me itchy uniform little bumps on my cheeks, forehead (never had pimples on my forehead before) and back. I think it’s fungal from too much antibiotic and when I did nizoral it helped a bit but didn’t fully get rid of it. My doctor doesn’t believe me that it could me fungal though because she says it’s “too rare”. But I’m positive it is. My question is this: if it is fungal acne, when my body finally gets all the good bacteria back will the fungal acne go away? Or do I need to find a way to treat it and maintain it for the rest of my life now? Please help me I’m just looking for answers and my doctor doesn’t want to even see if it could be fungal and wants to give me more antibiotics. Also I cut out everything that can cause the fungus to grow and that did help it a lot and my forehead is completely smooth again but my cheeks aren’t.
HEY OMG I’m in the exact same position!!!!! I’m on antibiotics and they helped my cheek acne but now gave me small little itchy spots/bumps on my forehead for the past year now😭 and I’m still on the antibiotics I have no clue what to do

Hi I’m a teenager who’s had acne for 3 years and nothing works for me I have blackheads and scares and my skin type is sensitive/normal to dry please can you recommend any product for me thank you
Hi Lily, we plan to do more videos on acne soon. But just as a principle, the best treatments for acne are retinoids, salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, and azelaic acid. Since you have sensitive skin, start slowly with these (every other day) and go from there. If you are developing scarring, its best to see a doctor ASAP because scarring is very difficult to treat compared to just treating acne :)

You forgot to mention that White headed acne is also very contagious, meening if one part of the face has it and we touch it, and then touch a part that doesn't have it , it's going to get effected for sure. I'm at a loss because nothing is working. All shampoo is making it worse. I've literally over 40 types. My scalp is in constant pain.
Thanks for these videos. Very helpful content. I have a couple of questions regarding anti-fungals and the face area. I have redness around my nose that seems to be separate from my regular acne. My GP suggested I apply topical anti-fungal treatments (Daktarin or Daktakort) around the area, and advised that Daktarin would be safer because there is no steroid in that. How long would it normally take to see results in reducing redness if the red bumpy area is a fungal infection? Is it best to avoid applying steroid creams to the face and use Daktarin not Daktakort in the short-term and long-term?
I first ran into the "think horses, not zebras" thing in the 1970s book "The House of God." ;) It's what you might call a really, really dark comedy about the internship year.
I heard the hoof beats saying on ER as a kid (I was in 4th grade when it debuted) and assumed everyone knew it but apparently I forgot to factor in time. What's scary is that doctor Shah, was probably 2 in 94 with Doctor M maybe a year or two older🙄. You never expect to get old as fast as it ends up happening!
It depends on the cause. Acne, rosacea, perioral dermatitis can all cause bumps around the mouth. I notice a lot of people who have acne or acne-like bumps limited to the beard area may be touching their face a lot. Touching your face can lead to bacteria or oil on your skin and worsen acne. Starting with a gentle cleanser, like Cerave SA, and then using a niacinamide, or some other active ingredients. Also, although retinoids are amazing for acne, they can be irritating around the more sensitive skin of the mouth.
Doctorly I’ve been trying a washer you recommended, retinoids, and moisturizer Creve for my routine. I will switch to NIACINAMIDE, how long do I wait to switch?
There are websites that help scan the product's ingredients and tell you if it's fungal acne safe. Is it true? Because I've heard some dermatologists say that it's not true. I wanna know your thoughts about it.

I have been breaking out for the past year. I’ve also been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that effects the liver. so I’m on several new medications. I finally went to my dermatologist and asked him about the possibility of fungal acne. He basically dismissed the even thought of fungal acne existing and said “don’t believe everything you read on the internet”. However I’m a scientist so am very thorough with my research and really think I have fungal acne. Should I trust him with what he’s recommended or should I get a second opinion?
Hi Erica - So technically "fungal acne" is not a medical term, the correct terminology is Malassezia folliculitis, so perhaps he is just not familiar with the terminology! The term basically developed on the internet to describe this condition called Malassezia folliculitis. To be honest, "fungal acne" is pretty uncommon - so I would trust your dermatologist. Board-certified dermatologists have 12 years of training and have treated thousands of skin conditions.Try the treatment he prescribed for a few months and if that doesn't work then consider returning to him or if you're still not satisfied, then you can consider getting a second opinion :) I'm sorry that you're dealing with so many different medical issues right now - hopefully things get better soon for you!
I highly doubt you will answer a comment for a 4 year video but i'll try, why didn't you mention Azelaic acid, I'm using it for close comedones/whiteheads?
Hello doc, I today visited a dermatologist and told him that I'm getting these fungal on my forehead time to time and they don't leave my forehead, but he said you probably getting those because hormonal imbalance cause I'm 18, but his answer didn't satisfied me at all... I don't get any acne on my entire face and these fungal acne only appears on my forehead... He even joked there's nothing like "fungal acne", it's either "fungal" or "acne", weird right?😕
That video came in perfect timing so almost 3 years ago i started getting those lighter patches on my shoulder and i didn't know what it was i didn't bother to treat it but with time it startef bothering me so i ended up going to a family member who owns a pharmacy and he gave me a cream to treat it i got rid of it but last year i got them again and i bought the cream and i thought i would be done with it but recently when the weather started to get warmer i got them again in different places its been two weeks they're almost gone , i just found out that its named tinea versicolor (i know what it's called in my language) now i can search about it , anyone else struggled with it?
Sure but I’ve had doctors tell me it wasn’t fungal acne and treated it with antibiotics, which made it worse. Turned out it’s fungal acne so.. always get a 2nd or even 3rd opinion.

Not sure if sweat acne is the same thing but I've found that salicylic/glycolic acid spray clears it right up and is good for prevention too. I used to avoid getting sweaty but now I don't have to worry about it. I just spray it on after my shower.
Fungus loves sugar. A healthier (Plant-based, nutrient dense) low in refined carbohydrates can resolve this condition from within.
Hello Doctor, can you make a video about hormonal acne in women? like women who have PCOS?
Daily exfoliation and 3x weekly application of dandruff shampoo to hair and jawline fixed the problem.
Hi docs! First off, love the channel, thank you guys so much for the informative videos :) I was wondering if you guys can do a video on hormonal acne? I have clear skin for 2 weeks and 2weeks of bad ance that always come back. I’m thinking it’s hormonal but wanted more information. Thank you!
Thank you so much for such an informative video. Please make a video on the treatment of comedones too.
Acne videos coming soon!
doc i used sulfur soap and it helps im taking zinc also it helps also
Where can you buy sulfur soap. I’ve used the Selson blue but I don’t like it.
I have malessezia folliculitis and I was misdiagnosed and prescribed doxycycline and clindamycin. Shortly after my skin was covered in fungal acne.
Same as my self😭😭😭. My skin is hell😭
Hello Docs, I am dark skinned with sun damaged light patches on my cheeks, (hypopigmentation) I want to even my skin tone, can this be reversed by any topical active? Thank you, I love your knowledge based channel, keep it up!
Hi! My go to would be a tinted sunscreen that’s broad spectrum and contains “iron oxides” in the inactive ingredients. Then a retinoid over time will even out pigment. I would also consider gentle chemical peels that are targeted at dyspigmentation like cosmelan!
Please make a in depth video about hair care & hair growth and actual supplements that help that won’t break the bank.
Hey Doc...Loving This Page & The Information Being Given. Can you do a video recommending the best products for dry sensitive skin for the face, for the skin & also in terms of the best soap & cream to use.
Hi Rhea, thanks for following along here. I did a video on a great product for dry sensitive skin - the la roche posay toleriane ultra moisturizing cream. It has no fragrance or preservatives and is great for dry and sensitive skin. I also like the dove bar soap for people with dry /sensitive skin. It will be important for you to avoid fragrances in your products and detergents
Did you cure your Fungal acne
Can you please do a video on perioral dermatitis??? I was recently diagnosed with P.O.D and I don't really know how to stop these awful flair ups 😢
Hi, love the content. Would you be interested to cover topic which explains the difference between fungus infection and eczema ?
How to clear closed comedones? I have suffer for 4 - 5 years enough. I really have dry skin and textured skin. 😭😭😭😭 help me doctor 😢

@@amirafieya prolly bcuz it's too much. Use BHA 3 times a week with a gentle cleanser then moisturize n SPF on day times. Sometimes less is more. Sounds like what I used to do until I reduced into a simple 3 step routine n it started to get better
@@amirafieya btw the dry skin is being caused by these acids. When using BHA u have to moisturize really well. One that is not gonna clogg the pores. I use bioderma sebium hydra cream which is for skin that has gone dry due to acne treatments and for acne prone ppl. It's perfect when using acids
Differin 3 nights a week & the inkey list succinic acid 2 times a week.
Use a cleansing balm at night before cleansing & skincare on damp skin
Did u get it sorted out???
Did ur acne clear before wedding
You guys are rock stars so helpful thank you so much 🤗☮️
this is actually good and very informative. thanks, docs!!!
You should get your hormones checked and see if you need supplements to help.
@@wilted_rose510 did this routine clear your skin?
Hello Dr. it’s okay that while you're with the acne treatment you do some ipl sessions? I don’t see any results honestly and it’s very sad...
Is it possible to get fungal acne overnight? - this morning I woke up with an itchy rash like spread of tiny uniform bumps across my chin...it definitely was not there yesterday 😭😭😭
Omg, me too. After one night and my face looks horrable 😭😭
@@phatduc9 My face itches alot and gets red
I’m on antibiotics and they helped my cheek acne but now gave me small little itchy spots/bumps on my forehead for the past year now😭 and I’m still on the antibiotics I have no clue what to do
Same thing happened with my best friend.
Take probiotics to balance out the good bacteria that was taken away from the antibiotics!
Get a new doctor that will listen!
Sameeee. Ive been on antibiotics to help treay my rosacea on the skin. But ive developed these red itchy bumps/pimples on my shoulderssss. Idk if I should continue the antibiotic or see the doc or what. My face is clearing up but my shoulders 😫
I’m 90% sure I have this, I’ve been treating acne for years but I have these tiny bumps on my skin that refuse to go away! I just started using sulfur soap and the bumps have started to calm down almost immediately
What specific soap have you started to use,do you have a link for it?
@@cel1125 use ketakonozol
I've been using Malezia 5% urea moisturizer for over a year. It's been the biggest thing that helped me, besides removing products with problematic.
I would love to know doctors are so hesitant to use oral antifungal medication.. i seem to think they just like you to keep coming back at 75.00 a pop.. very frustrating.. you guys seem to have the right attitude.. why make people suffer if there is something that will help
Thanks a lot. I have rosacea for years, many treatments to control it. Many doctors gave me wrong creams which makes me breakout. I have been researching for very specific creams using skincarisma, and is difficult to have perfect ingredients because I was thinking in avoiding fungal acné triggers ingredients. Now I know it's just normal acne so creams will be easier. Non comedogenic will be enough + active ingredients
The Dr. On the left is beautiful 🥰
Hey😊..such a big fun on tik tok..
Just a concern, can i use benzoyl peroxide treatment after i have washed my face with a SA cleanser?
Yes you can!
Wait you can actually send him a pic of your skin and he’ll tell you what would be good for it?
I wanna know too
Hi I’m a teenager who’s had acne for 3 years and nothing works for me I have blackheads and scares and my skin type is sensitive/normal to dry please can you recommend any product for me thank you
You can try aloe hun
Same girl
Hi Lily, we plan to do more videos on acne soon. But just as a principle, the best treatments for acne are retinoids, salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, and azelaic acid. Since you have sensitive skin, start slowly with these (every other day) and go from there. If you are developing scarring, its best to see a doctor ASAP because scarring is very difficult to treat compared to just treating acne :)
I bath with keto shampoo 3 times a week, use topical clotrimazole solution on active ones, and keto cream on face 2 times a week. In the past i had fluconazone oral tabs as well.
My problem is itS not eradicating i wanna get rid of it for lifetime now JUST FED UP WITH THIS.
You forgot to mention that White headed acne is also very contagious, meening if one part of the face has it and we touch it, and then touch a part that doesn't have it , it's going to get effected for sure. ("from my own experience")

What do you think of sulfur being in a cleanser???
I've seen a dermatologist, several actually, they all say it's folliculitis but never skin scrape! Never give me anything to treat it! Tea tree and Nizoral have cause the areas to get worse. I'm at a loss because nothing is working. All shampoo is making it worse. I've literally over 40 types. My scalp is in constant pain.
sir how do I extract the comedonal acne? it's like a trap sebum on my face and it's nasty
I tried everything... But couldn't rid off scalp acne.....
Even accutane didn't worked

Thanks for these videos. Very helpful content. I have a couple of questions regarding anti-fungals and the face area. I have redness around my nose that seems to be separate from my regular acne. My GP suggested I apply topical anti-fungal treatments (Daktarin or Daktakort) around the area, and advised that Daktarin would be safer because there is no steroid in that. How long would it normally take to see results in reducing redness if the red bumpy area is a fungal infection? Is it best to avoid applying steroid creams to the face and use Daktarin not Daktakort in the short-term and long-term?
I don't know if it's the mic or something but these vocal fries went hard on this video 😳
I first ran into the "think horses, not zebras" thing in the 1970s book "The House of God." ;) It's what you might call a really, really dark comedy about the internship year.
Are the little tiny bumps that are identical to my skin colour fungal acne?
I heard the hoof beats saying on ER as a kid (I was in 4th grade when it debuted) and assumed everyone knew it but apparently I forgot to factor in time. What's scary is that doctor Shah, was probably 2 in 94 with Doctor M maybe a year or two older🙄. You never expect to get old as fast as it ends up happening!
You both have perfect skin- of course LOL!
Hi, I think I have both issues and sensitive skin as well. So is it ok to use your recommended shampoo at first?
is this a good skincare routine? vanicream, nizoral for 8 min, creve night light weight moisturizer, sunbum stick face sunscreen
What do you think about using African black soap to treat acne?
Hey doc any tips for pimples around my mustaches and the side of our lips?
Hi Doc.. I have been considering taking accutane for my acne but I heard theres alot of side effects especially on women.is there any similar medication with less side effects? Thank you❤❤

Wearing a surgical mask 13 hours a day 4 to 5 days a week in a hospital environment because of a pandemic… Definitely the right environment
Heyy doctors, thank u for this helpful and informative page💃🕺 Can u do a video about tinea versicolor treatment please. I took several pills of fluconazole and it persisted😔
I always get it during the summer, no matter what. Any other season I’m clear then the heat comes and I’m covered all over my body.
I highly doubt you will answer a comment for a 4 year video but i'll try, why didn't you mention Azelaic acid, I'm using it for close comedones/whiteheads?
Thankyou.. but why r they flirting kinda
He even joked there's nothing like "fungal acne", it's either "fungal" or "acne", weird right?😕
Good to know I didn’t buy a bunch of Nizoral for no reason
That video came in perfect timing so almost 3 years ago i started getting those lighter patches on my shoulder and i didn't know what it was i didn't bother to treat it but with time it startef bothering me so i ended up going to a family member who owns a pharmacy and he gave me a cream to treat it i got rid of it but last year i got them again and i bought the cream and i thought i would be done with it but recently when the weather started to get warmer i got them again in different places its been two weeks they're almost gone , i just found out that its named tinea versicolor (i know what it's called in my language) now i can search about it , anyone else struggled with it?
Awesome info.😍
Sure but I’ve had doctors tell me it wasn’t fungal acne and treated it with antibiotics, which made it worse. Turned out it’s fungal acne so.. always get a 2nd or even 3rd opinion.
