    5% glycolic acid changed my life. I'm 54 and have years of damage from using scrubs that broke my capillaries and messed up my skin barrier. I quit using the scrubs years ago, but recently picked up Pixie Glow Tonic and my skin is 6000x better! Thank you for explaining ingredients!!! I discovered your channel today and have been binge- watching your ingredient series. Knowledge is power. ;)

    Hello Rene! Love your informative channel. I recently got into the Asian skin care and noticed a great difference! Can you do a video on what active agents counter act with others and what is good to use together. I think that would be so helpful with all the active ingredients in these products. It would decrease reactivity and increase effectiveness- which we would all love. Keep going strong Rene!

    Hello~
    You mentioned you shouldn't use a toner before the Missha essence, does that mean this essence would be used in replacement of a toner or that if you are using this product you don't need a toner at all? Or should you use a toner after the Missha first essence treatment? I have been using this product for months and haven't noticed any results, however now I realize it might be because I have been using a toner before it.

    • @amyabel6905

    I tried the 7 skin method with pure maple water (not the May Coop toner, but just plain maple water) after watching this video.
    My skin was a touch sticky until I put lotion on. I have only been at it for 3 days but every day since, my usual oil slick skin is still balanced at the end of the work day when otherwise it's embarrassingly greasy. Thank you so much for this info, after years of not knowing what to use for my troubled skin and undoubtedly making it worse with harsh cleansers in my desperation, there is finally some hope! You are saving my skin!

    Hi! I love watching your channel...you are BY FAR , the easiest and nicest to listen too. You have a great soothing voice.
    I'm 46 and started a 10 step routine 5 weeks ago. My face had little bumps and redness all over it and I figured that was my skin just getting used to all the products, but I skipped the Missha FTE one night (it was hard to do - I love that stuff!) and my skin was so much smoother! Do you think fermentation effected my skin? I did buy the product from Amazon and maybe did not get a good batch? Maybe I have sensitive skin but I have read SO many reviews of the product and have not really found anyone who has reacted this way. Any thoughts?

    I'm sure you know, but so glad Hada Labo finally gave us the Gokujyun and Shirojyun lotions in sheet mask form - can buy as 6(?) pack of single sheet masks or bulk buy option which contains 30 masks in one reclosable foil bag. Bulk bags grossed me out initially, but have been loving keeping the foil bag in the fridge and using the mask in the AM when I need extra de-puffing/hydration punch (clean, clean, hands -so far so good).

    Hi Renee! I love your channel/videos. I watch them about 100x each lol. I have a question. So should you not use any toners before an essence because it will dilute the essence?

    • @gothamista
      @gothamista  8 лет назад +1

      Hi!! You're so sweet! Actually that's not what I meant, apologies if it's confusing haha! Toners are great before essences, and because they are liquid and of a thin consistency, they will absorb quickly into the skin. I just feel like the first treatment essence is fabulous as a toner because it perfectly prepares your skin after cleansing. I also believe it was intended as a first treatment after cleansing.

Perhaps maybe the Biologique before the Sulwhasoo? I typically do my niacinamide routine in the AM and my vitamin c routine in the PM. Would the Biologique and the Sulwhasoo be OK for both routines - or would one be better for each routine?? Ive used samples of the Sulwhasoo and it is amazing!

    I just came across your channel and I just love it! You're so informative and you've taken care of your skin soooooo well! I just turned 30 and since 4 years ago I've been having acne... :( My skin has always been sensitive but now it's acne prone, sensitive, combination and with dry patches on my cheeks! I will try some of the products your recommend and see if it'll help mine. Thanks

    Hi, I'm new to your channel and I love your videos! So helpful.
    Watching this video reminded me of 10 years ago when I had a trouble finding tonic/lotion/essence/toner, however you call it, but for hydration and to prep the skin before applying moisturizer. I moved to Europe and it wasn't common at all back then.
    Now Asian method of skincare routine is more popular, and I'm really thankful for that! It's so much easier to get hands on them!
    I was wondering, but could you do a video about drug store skincare products recommendation? Even from high-end brands would be nice. I'd love to try your favorite products, but they are not so easy to find. (I can get Japanese ones when I go back to Japan, but I can't go there as often as I'd love to.)
    It would be great if you consider it. :)

    First of all, not only is you in general absolutely stunning, but your personality is too! I enjoy your channel so much! Secondly, the toner and essence part is sorta a little confusing. So, i have the skinfood gold caviar toner and Missha's the first treatment essence, but which one do i use first and should i be using both for day as well as night?

    • @gothamista
      @gothamista  8 лет назад

      +KimberlyNicole wow, I am so flattered! Thank you! Truth is, you don't need to use both at the same time. I would use one at night and the other during the day, both after cleansing. If you feel extra, then use the skinfood toner first, then the essence afterwards!

    Just found this video... you are amazing and I am a new sub. Didn't like the Raw Sauce, but the Missha FTE is everything. You are right I don't use toner before FTE it's like a toner/essence in one. I also have dry skin so I found Hanskin Hyaluron Skin Essence, which has done wonders for me. Thanks for all of your informative videos. I really enjoy watching and learning.

    Heya! :) I've been looking for a life-changing facial product and bump into this review. This is so helpful! One question though, I have a very oily skin and i was looking into getting the Biologique Recherche Lotion. I am not sure which one to get. I checked the link you provided and i see that there is P50 original 1970, P50 V, P50 V 1970, P50 W and P50 W 1970. Which one do you think is best for oily skin? Thank youuuuu! :)

    Would you consider the Secret Key Rose Edition an essence or a toner? I just purchased, and am confused if I still need an essence or not. Thanks!

    I am confused, if you use a toner do you need a first treatment essence? I mean, are they substitutes or do they complement each other?

    I know this video is old but I just stumbled across your videos and it has changed my skin care entirely. I am loving it. My question is if you have time to answer, I am finding irritation on my face and think it may be the missha first treatment. I have dry sensitive skin. I was contemplating the raw sauce or the belief and wondering If you had a recommendation for an essense for reactive skin? Thank you so so much in advance.

    I just need to say, I looooove your videos ! So much information ! I am into skincare for a while now, but I want to build a more Korean skincare routine as I will go to Korea in tow months. I would like to know if I can use the P50 lotion AND the missha essence right after ? I feel this would be the "right" order but I am not sure hehe. Anyway, I will spend my Sunday watching your video and learn ! (I also have a NY trip planned this year so I am trying to make a wish list of Korean and products I can by in Ny so I don't buy the same " step product")

    Hi, I just discovered your videos and I love them. They are so helpful and informative.
    I had a quick question, I use pixi as my toner and in other videos I've heard you mention it's similar to The ordinary lactic acid and glycolic acid, so does that mean I could use the ordinary items as toner?

  • @tiffsoga3869
    @tiffsoga3869 8 лет назад

    So the Japanese lotions come before serums, too, right?
    You have such a great channel. Growing up, i always hated American skincare products because none of them worked for me, and over time, I've been incorporating more Japanese skincare for my Japanese skin and it's all finally clearing up! Your content is incredibly educational(: Thank you so much!

      +Tiffany Soga Hi Tiffany! Thank you! After serum. This is a moisturizer that's a toner consistency. Yes, I am completely non discriminate with products (and most things), if it works and it's awesome, i'm gonna use it! Like you, I suffered most of my life with western cosmetics on difficult skin. Probably why I'm so obsessed now :)

    Very confused!!! I have a very dry skin, when should I use Missha first treatment essence? Should I just skip the toner and just use it directly after cleansing? I am new to all the 7 or 10 step routine. 😕

    I'm so sorry I'm bombarding you with comments! I'm going to try asian skincare for the first time (despite being asian myself) so I just want to make sure I get the order right. I have the pixi glow tonic but just purchased the time revolution essence + time revolution mist + the time revolution night repair ampoule. In what order would you use those products in? And would you suggest I add a cream to the very end of this routine?

    • @gothamista
      @gothamista  9 лет назад +1

      +Shane L I suggest you watch my night time routine and my summer skincare routine as I use all the products you mentioned. Tonic - essence - ampoule at night. Essence after cleansing in the day. You do realize that the time revolution essence and mist are exactly the same product? The latter is just more recent and in mist form. So you use them in lieu of each other not together. hope that helps and i love your comments!

    Hi Rene, If you had to recommend 1 hydrating toner, 1 hydrating essence and 1 hydrating serum or light lotion from the Asian brands that you use, which ones would you recommend? Could you make a video of purely hydrating routine start to finish including some options for every step in a beauty routine? My skin concern is dehydrated skin. I enjoy your channel very much. Thx.

    Thank you so much for simplifying this process! Do you recommend this multi-step process when there is a focus on anti-aging? I am in my mid-20's and my focus is on brightening and evening tone.

    • @gothamista
      @gothamista  8 лет назад

      Yes, particularly if you're concerned with anti-aging! When you want brightening, the acid toners are the place to go!

  • @somatic7476
    @somatic7476 8 лет назад

    Thank you for such a thorough explanation, Renee. You made it so easy to understand!
    I do have a question about acid toners though. Why must they be used with a cotton pad? What's the disadvantage to using hands to apply?

    • @gothamista
      @gothamista  8 лет назад +1

      I like a bit of control while applying acid toners which swiping with cotton allows an even and light application. I feel like splashing it on my face with my hands might cause some areas to get too much while others don't get any.
