One of my goals this new year is to sew at least 15-30 minutes a day. I usually sew only on the week-ends because after work I'm too tired. Not a good excuse. I have a big tub of the 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" strips. I get a couple of blocks done each time I sew and before you know it, I'll have a quilt. Yay.
I am in Colorado and it's going to hit zero tonight. My husband is out putting straw and hay in the miniture goats house. My dog is in her bed by the wood burning stove. Listening to you while I am starting clue 6 cotton cuts. We prayed for you grandbaby and daughter. Thank you for keeping me company tonight. Have a blessed week.😊
Oh Connie. I hope you all stay nice and warm. Thank you so much. I spoke with my daughter and she said my grandson is fussy but he is eating ok and staying hydrated. She of course if feeling cruddy but hopefully it will all go away soon.
I wonder why the pattern I am working calls this a potato chip quilt with the sizes I am cutting. Maybe their variation which is fine because I think the blocks are so cute.
@ I don’t know. If it comes out then I guess it doesn’t matter. All the ones I see uses 2 1/2” by 4 1/2”. I’ve made them and that was what I did. I don’t guess the 2” wide would be just fine. Glad to know they can be made in that size also. Lea Louise is who I watch making them.
Here in West Michigan our daily high temps are in the low-to-mid 20s. Very little snow so far this winter which is unusual here. My sewing area happens to be in the coldest part of the house. "Layering" is the wardrobe word of the day.
I love my Stripology XL Ruler! I’d like to collect the other sizes as well! All in time! I love my Martelli cutter but sometimes I reach for the one I was gifted with my Viking machine. I pray you and your family are safe during the winter storm!
Several have told me this, so I am wondering about the pattern I have seen. I will definitely start using my accuquilt to cut scraps for a potato chip quilt. I can still use what I have for something different.
I make a potato chip quilt using 2 1/2 X 4 1/2 rectangles. You mentioned that you have an accuquilt die that size. You might want to check into making a potato chip quilt using that size. It will make it easier in cutting those scraps. Thanks for your videos. I enjoy the sew alongs that you have.
I may mix the sizes but the pattern I am looking at called for this size. Never know, I may end up using these for something else but nice to have them cut down.
My potato chip strips are 2 1/2" x 4 1/2". I'm in Kentucky and it was 17 degrees in the morning, it did get up to 27 degrees. In my area we got 10 inches of snow. I am "stuck" at home, but I do work from home so as long as I have power, I'm good.
Just thinking of the stripology thing just as you said it. We have had about a total of 14- 15 inches of snow and I want winter to be over. Hope you live where its warm.
I have to look up what a potato chip quilt block is - I think Brenda of Mount Scrapmore did one but I'm not positive. I love playing with my scraps - I cut fabrics to 2.5" squares to use with a 6.5" square and make opposite sides snowballs by using them for leader/ender blocks. My problem is being patient for the leader/ender blocks instead of going hog wild and just making a bunch of the snowball blocks. Spaghetti and chili sound good - I made fish sandwiches for dinner with broccoli & cheese for the veg. They were good but I really wanted to make chili - it's 14 here with 10" of snow (Illinois). Supposed to warm up to 20 tomorrow! Cracks me up but this is the norm for central Illinois then for one week in February it will hit the 60's so everything will start blooming and budding then freezing temps will hit again for a month or so. Very pretty fabrics!
Wow Gina! I hope you are able to stay warm in those temps. I have seen several quilters make one and it has been on my to do list for a while. Make the chili! Such a wonderful food to keep you warm.
Well, it’s cold here for us thin-skinned Californians. We’ve got big winds, we have to inspect our two patio covers, my husband thinks we will need to call our homeowner’s insurance and get the two roofs replaced. We, are well away from the fires, and we are praying for the community of beach Pacific Palisades, as we do for every community we see is suffering from dangerous weather conditions. 🙏🏻
I was just reading about the fires. So glad you aren't near them and I agree - I'm not used to the cold either but today I was able to go to work without a jacket and it is 33 degrees but no wind.
Praise God for the job opportunity your son has taken! Prayers for your sick grandson and daughter! I so enjoy listening to you while I do other things. We could be great friends, lol. You may remember me mentioning canning and gardening. I also have a freeze dryer and am constantly falling off the keto wagon😂 How did your chili turn out? Especially interested if it had beans in it? I have been freeze drying milk as fast as I can these days. With 2 cows in milk now, I have more than I can use or sell, and the freezers are full. I will have 6 or 7 goats in milk as well come April/May. I use the goat milk in my products, so that doesn't pile up as much. My husband takes care of approximately 600 momma cows, plus we have about 50 of our own. I will probably be getting an orphan calf soon enough to put on one of the cows, so that will help. Stay warm!
Thank you so much, Amanda. It is truly a blessing not only will he have a job but my grandbaby will be just minutes away. I ended up having left over spaghetti but will be eating the chili really soon. Do you make butter with your milk? I remember when I was younger, our neighbor would let my sister and I churn butter, and there is nothing like fresh salted butter. Wow, that is a lot of cows. Hope you all are staying safe and out of the storms way.
@myhobbyhomelife you're welcome! Yes, I do make butter with the cream! I agree, not much better than fresh butter 😋 Yes, it is a lot of cows, but we love it! We will see what tomorrow holds weather wise. It is supposed to be just above freezing for a high. The weather keeps going back and forth between rain/snow mix or just snow. I don't think there is supposed to be too much though. I guess Dallas and Central TX are supposed to really get it tomorrow.
👋 The time will whiz by til the 17th🤣 I know all about that- being in your own world while your spouse is gone for several days! It’s an adjustment for sure but it’ll be okay 👍! Even though I don’t want to get rid of my scraps because of course they might get put to good use- someday 😜 - they DO PILE UP!!! I just don’t know where to send them! Any ideas? A landfill is not a happy place for anyone’s beautiful fabrics!! Great job cutting your pieces while talking, I’d be all over the place!!! Enjoy your day and doing what you love!!❤️ 💜🥰👋
@tinavernon5387 Hi Tina! I know it will and I do enjoy him being home, I just feel guilty. Tammy at The Siberian Wind told me she takes anything she can at least cut 1 inch from or abandoned/orphaned projects. I will be sending a box to her pretty shortly of scraps. Hope you have a blessed day!
Aren't ya'll brave heading on Christmas Eve. 😅. There's is a canned spaghetti sauce my daughter likes. Its roasted garlic and onion. I can't remember the brand, but really good.
The pattern that I have seen is the 2 x 3.5. I have seen others that are the 2.5 x 4.5 but I really like the design on the one I have been looking at lately.
Prayers for your sick daughter and grand baby. Congratulations on your son’s new job position!! So glad they will be close to you.
Thank you so much! We are so happy for this news.

When my kids were young and I worked. I got up an hour earlier just to sew. I just had to have a minute to sew.
Yes, that is the way to do it. I sew everyday if possible.
I love going through my scraps. I do scrappy quilts all the time. Stay warm!
Me too and I hope you are staying warm too!

Thank you, Cathy. A nice easy visit for my first day back at my machine from the holidays. ❤
I know you are excited to be back sewing. I really miss it when I don't get to sew.
Congratulations on your son’s new job
Thank you!
2 1/2” by 4 1/2” pieces is for potato chip pieces. I love making them!

They are so addictive to make. I use them for leaders and Enders also.
Hi Cathy! I'm sorry your daughter and grand baby are sick, 🙏 for th hem!
Wonderful news about your son getting ggv ax job and moving close to you!
@sharonframpton1887 Thank you. My daughter went back to work today and grandson still home the rest of the week.
Today I’m sewing and catching up on your videos. Have a good day!
@@tessahouse9960 I am so jealous!
Bag of extra goodies😊. Chip quilt will be nice. God bless
YES! Never underestimate a bag of fabric scraps.

Oh my! We are in lower 30's with no snow in sight. As far as layering, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
I love my Stripology XL Ruler! I’d like to collect the other sizes as well! All in time! I love my Martelli cutter but sometimes I reach for the one I was gifted with my Viking machine. I pray you and your family are

Thanks, I love to go through my scraps, fun!! I'm so glad your son found that job, all will be good.
Thank you! Yes, we are hoping everything goes well.
Thank you fir wearing the mic volume is great
@@DeniseFiegel You are welcome. I normally do wear the mic all the time.
I have a box of scraps built up now. Good thing there's a lot of videos on various scrap blocks now. 😊
There is always a use for scraps.

No snow and only 32 degrees here.
Southeastern Wisconsin weather right now is 19* with a feels like of 15*. No snow on the ground. Not too bad for January.
WOW we are currently at 32 degrees.
Have the strpology ruler just haven’t ever used it yet you make it look easy Cathy
It makes cutting those strips so easy.
Great video! You sure got a lot cut. I'm going to have to look up the Potato Chip Quilt. I haven't heard of it. Take care.
I have never made one but I have seen several people make them and they can be very scrappy or very put together.
Just thinking of the stripology thing just as you said it. We have had about a total of 14- 15 inches of snow and I want winter to be over. Hope you live where its warm.
I live in northern Louisiana. Currently it is 32 degrees but no snow. Hope you are staying warm.
Mail is taking a long time to get to Maine too. Probably has something to do with the weather down south. Take care!
So far our weather is pretty good. We have no ice or snow.

Temp here in Northern Vermont it is 17 with a feel like temp of -1 degree
WOW hope you all are staying warm and safe. Thank you for watching.
2 1/2 × 4 1/2 is the potato chip size. You could use your accuquilt die.
22 degrees in WV
I may do a mix and match of the sizes. The pattern I am looking at calls for the 2x3.5 size.
WOW - hope you guys are nice and warm.

That martinelli cutter doesn't feel good because it is for right handed cutting. You need the left handed one.
I am right handed though. It is something about the mechanics of it that don't sit to well with me.
