I have been sewing, quilting, cross stitching and embroidering for 62 years and the joy and love of it has not diminished at all. It’s truly a blessing to have this desire or talent or whatever you call it. Happy creating!!!!
Thank you for inspiring us and showing us your techniques which help us have more lovely sewing. I have been doing sewing of all kinds for almost 70 years and am still learning. Watching your videos and listening to you is definately good for MY mental health, dear.
Thank you so much for watching, I’m so glad it resonated with you 😊🌸
I’ve been sewing for 45 years…it saves my soul!
I think one of the reasons I have so many UFOs is because I pick such big projects and life gets in the way. Your suggestion to do small projects/time slots may be what I need. Thank you!
Really hope it helps! Thanks for watching
My granddaughters new homeschool co op is teaching needlework and sewing.
Our community is advertising a workshop.
I’m so excited to see a return to traditional skills.
That is awesome!
Hi Emma .. This is Zee here from Dubai , Middle East. I happened to stumble upon your channel and I'm so glad I did. I enjoyed listening to your journey and I am looking forward to taking up your advice. I have been sewing for the last 10 years but not very consistent. Every time thee is some distraction and right now I have a very inquisitive toddler who likes to touch and explore all my sewing stuff so just to be cautious Im not able to sew as much and it definitely frustrates me.Sewing actually makes me happy & I agree to what you said about " taking care of ourselves to be able to take care of our family " and that is what I want to practice this 2025. I was just telling myself this morning that I need to end my day with a bit of embroidery rather than scroll mindlessly on the phone. This would help me unwind and be charged to tackle my day . I have joined an embroidery club and hoping its going to keep me on track . Thank you for this video and look forward to many more.
-love and prayers from Dubai
Hi Zee, lovely to meet you, thank you for telling me about yourself. It’s so easy to scroll and forget about what really brings us joy isn’t it. I’m going to try harder to leave a project out ready so I can just pick it up when I have a spare minute. Even just 5 minutes is better than none. Not easy with a toddler about, it will get easier though. Wishing you lots of peace and happiness with your sewing this year 🌸
Learning to slow down a bit so you can enjoy sewing without the stress, that is what I now aim for. I feel that the 'slow stitch' ethos helps with that change in attitude. Feel the fabric and enjoy the process - yes, I agree with you on that.
That’s wonderful Eileen, I really feel like it’s the best way to enjoy making something
I restored a vintage yo yo quilt took 800 hrs I appliquéd the entire yo yo quilt onto a sheet circle by circle then I hand quilted the entire quilt. You’ve inspired me to finish my crazy kitty quilt embroidered blocks mixed with different 9 patch of cats doing things like driving ect. I hand quilt everything it was a dream and goal as a child it’s taken 52 yrs to master this talent but I truly love it.
That sounds like such a fun quilt!
I picked up hand sewing, after a change in my life. I am drawn to crazy, patchwork quilts. I find the constant change & sizes soothing, calming. I take inspiration from all the sewing artists that I have seen on RUclips. Thank you! 🌻
Thanks for sharing! So glad you are finding so much joy in your making
I'm from Saudi Arabia and I want to learn sewing very much, when I watch your videos i feel like ( oh i don't understand her talking because you took English very well and i don't took English very well like you 😂
i enjoyed watching your videos you make me happy
Thanks ❤❤❤❤
I have always enjoyed sewing and quilting. It’s so refreshing to see young people taking up quilting and sewing along with hand embroidery. I always enjoy watching your videos.❤️🥰❤️
Thank you Helen, we definitely need to keep people crafting especially in this digital age when people seem to do less and less things off screens
I am a novice, making small gifts and things like lavender bags etc I really enjoy it and want to learn and do more!
Watching this made me feel really happy, I love stitching & have only just got into patchwork/quilting. You have really inspired me to make a memory quilt, I also love the idea of it being double sided when it is finished. You are a joy to watch & very calming to listen to. Thank you Emma for sharing all the things that make you happy 🪡🧵🧶
I agree completely. Very calming, unhurried. I love it
Oh thank you! I’m so happy to hear you are inspired to make one! Thank you so so much for watching 🤗
Thank you for inspiring me to sew again I shall get unfinished projects out and make some stitches
That’s great Margaret, hope you enjoy your stitching time
Watched your video for the first time. I used to sew bits and pieces but not for a few years now. Lost the passion for it but watching you video it's making me wanting to start sewing again. Love the quilt you demonstrated. Thankyou for giving me the sewing bug back😊
Oh I’m so glad you enjoyed the video! Wishing you many happy hours of sewing 🧵 😊🌸
I’m always in a rush to finish everything and anything and on to the next fast. I love your view of stopping the rush and really enjoy the art. Thank you!
This was inspiring and uplifting, Emma.
I agree that sewing is good for our mental health, and I remember your talk on mindful and mindless sewing - each has its own benefits.
I enjoy small projects best, although it's satisfying to see a larger quilt grow too.
Happy New Year to you and your family, Emma. May your business prosper and grow and may you continue to find much joy in your work and life🙏❤
So glad you liked the video! I hope you and your family have a very happy new year and great 2025!🤗🌸❤️💕
I know sewing has made and changed my life full of greatness! I was able to work in Upholstery shop and also make lots of wonderful things for myself and others.
Wonderful!
This is my favorite sewing channel. I watch your videos and really unwind. I'm going to try some of your ideas in 2025. Thank you for sharing. ❤️ Alabama USA
Aww thank you! That means so much. Have a wonderful 2025 🤗🌸
Yes. Sewing IS meditation for me too whether it’s at my machine (I’m a seamstress by trade) or in my comfy rocking chair I find so much peace and relaxation. And when I am making a gift, I say a prayer for the recipient. I love your channel and your sweet, soft voice is like a lovely pillowy quilt! 💞🧵🪡
Thank you! So glad sewing is meditation for you too 😊🌸
Emma, how relaxing it was just watching you place all of your different colours together, and your calming voice, you are an inspiration to me. Thank you for this beautiful little video, it has really helped me. Love from Australia 🇦🇺 ❤
Thank you so much! That’s so kind of you 🌸
I love your channel. ❤ I agree that hand sewing brings me happiness and keeps me distracted from everyday problems.
I'm so glad! Thanks for watching
I will definitely try combining english paper piecing with embroidery thats such a lovely idea.
I was feeling sad and down but your video was so lovely to watch.
So glad it helped, take care
Those fabrics are a work of art!
What a lovely little video so calming to listen and watch while you stitch it certainly is good for your soul I first started slow stitching in 2018 after making my first ever quilt (which was a no waste quilt) never had so much left over material 😂😂, anyway I was going through hell at work from bullying and I started doing little hand stitched cards just so this material wasn't wasted and I became hooked ,love it ❤ . I now look after my mother, who has dementia after taking early retirement from work, and again, stitching has saved me. Can't recommend it enough
I’m sorry you’ve been through such difficult times but I’m glad you’ve had stitching to turn to, it’s hard to explain just how much it helps until you experience it yourself. Take care of yourself x
Well said Emma. I totally agree. Sewing on so many levels is so good for us all. Every one can benefit from it.
Sewing has saved me in so many ways. Financially I was able to make clothing for my children, presents for others and the list goes on. Now, as I am looking to retirement, I need to permit myself to relax and enjoy. Thank you for a lovely video.
Thank you so much for watching
The Elmhurst fabrics were gorgeous!
What a beautiful relaxing video. I couldn’t agree more with what you have to say about sewing being good for mental health and slowing down. Thank you!
Thank you! I appreciate you watching
Thank you so very much Emma, as I've gotten older I personally would appreciate handmade gifts so much more. I truly love to see others creativity. And I have learned about myself as well because when pulling all the times in my life I have found that I love all the crafts and have started to do all of them again.
I do slow stitching too! I'm retired so I have the time. I follow Roxy Creations. I love it. I taught school for 30 years.
I agree whole heartedly!!!
Lovely video. ❤️The Elmhurst fabrics are perfect for “I Spy Quilt” for children. I have made one and had a great time making it. Low volume prints with such details is perfect!
I love sewing and it's because of people like you. Thank you.
That’s such a lovely thing to say, thank you
Good morning. Thank you so much for sharing your message with me and your followers. Your message touched me since I can relate. I'm an empty nester and unemployed. My hobbies are crafts, sewing, and trying new recipes for cooking and baking. My favorite is sewing , and I've been an amateur in that department for many years. Your embroidery reminded me of when I learned it as a teenager. Since then, I have not embroidered. Watching your video has motivated me to try it again and add it to baby quilts. I look forward to watching your other videos. May you have a beautiful day.
Thank you for such a lovely message! Appreciate you watching 🌸
Thankyou…..your memories quilt has inspired me! My grandmother gave me embroidery supplies and quilt blocks to embroider. I was looking at them yesterday and realized all of the blocks are pretty much finished just a little bit left to do. I’ve never felt inspired to use it as a quilt until now seeing your memory quilt. This will be a very fun project to move ahead with. Thank you so much❤
Oh that will be lovely! Have fun putting it all together and thanks for watching
How lovely to be able to have a sewing room! It is a dream of mine to have have one.
Thank you so much! Really appreciate you watching 😊🌸
Wow.. thank you so much Emma. . I love, love, love sewing, embroidery, crochet and such craft and you hit the nail on the head when you said life gets in the way! I will now rise to the challenge of doing something everyday. God gifted you with a calming voice also, Thank you for sharing your gifts☺🙏
Thank you so much!
I really enjoyed this. Visually it was beautiful and since I am on a very tight budget right now there was something really satisfying about watching your hands go through all of these things. It felt almost like shopping but without any money spent. I also found a lot of inspiration in the way you have things organized and displayed. I have already entered 2025 knowing that this is the year I am going to get back to sewing and crafting with my hands. Just yesterday I decided to take an extra toon in the house and clean it out to make a crafting /sewing area. I’ve subscribed to your channel and I do think I’ll make my own version of a happy memories quilt. I love the idea of doing it just work on it and not so much making it as a piece to be finished and used.
Hi Beth, thanks so much for watching and subscribing, means so much to me. I hope you love working on the happy memories quilt as much as I do 😊🌸
@@bethb5642 embroidery is a wonderful hobby when your budget is tight. You can buy a few skeins so cheaply and use items you already have like pillowcases, aprons, and old jeans to embroider on. I thrift a lot of my craft items. Estate sales are great to find stuff. Good luck and happy sewing. 👩🌾💙🪡🧵
I’m just starting handstitching. I got a kit to help learn stitches. This is so lovely and inspiring to watch.
Thank you, happy stitching!
What a lovely video! The fabrics are exquisite and charming all at once. I miss sewing-- I've been working on some other projects. I have an old sewing machine from the forties and though it's a very simple without any bells and whistles, it gets the job done. I love the rhythm, the feel of the fabric, the colors. Thank you for your peaceful video. I'm looking forward to more.
I love machine like that and have one myself. Thanks you so much for watching 🌸
Thank you so much for reminding me of why I love sewing , and that I need to get back to my hobby.
I need to look at you videos and see the things that you do.
I found your channel today and I like this very much.
God Bless
Thank you so so much!
What a great video! I’ve been stitching for years and everything you’ve said about the process resonates with my own experience - it is often a challenge to carve out the necessary time for stitching but it’s so beneficial for mental health and general wellbeing.
So glad it resonated with you, thanks so much for watching
I just started again with slow stitching. Your great
Hi Emma from New Zealand, thankyou for today's video it has helped with my mental health today.
I’m so glad Vera, take care
How about a library bag for using the smaller sifted scraps that are beautiful.
I came across this video today and Subscribed! I am not the greatest at sewing, but it is fun. I love the Elmhirst fabrics you featured and looked at their offerings online, and I told a friend!
Thank you so much! Really appreciate you watching and subscribing, hope you will enjoy my other videos. And thank you for checking Elmhirst Fabrics out and telling a friend, it all really helps 🌸
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. These Elmhirst fabrics are so lovely. Unfortunately they don't ship to Germany. I'm sewing whenever I have the time. Just to get my mind free and relax. Its a beautiful hobby.
Thank you for watching. A lot of what they sell comes from Germany so you might be able to find them where you live 😊
I loved watching your video Emma. You have a lovely caring and generous way of sharing your knowledge with encouragement and kindness. It’s very true that sewing soothes your soul. It certainly does mine. I joined a lovely local group to stitch once a week and it’s been a lovely experience that I know look forward to and I’m learning so much from the other ladies and generous people like yourselves who give a lot of time to RUclips so thank you. 😊
Oh what lovely words, thank you Christine. Joining a local group is such a lovely thing to do, nothing better than stitching and friendship, thank you for watching 🌸
@ 🥰
Thoroughly enjoyed watching you hand sew! So meditative and just lovely. No loud machine hammering away, lol
Glad you enjoyed it!
YES!
Thank you so much for this great video….. I am in the process of starting a hand sewn quilt and I feel this is the way forward for me💕
Wish you the very best for 2025 and look forward to watching more of your videos 🦋💕🌸
Oh thank you! I appreciate you watching. I hope you enjoy every stitch of making the quilt 🌸
First time watching. Subscribed. I prefer hand sewing but will do curtains. Went back to your xmas pattern one. I have always made felt ornaments and some have lasted well over 40 years. This year made all my immediate neighbors in the cottages and staff at a senior housing complex to commemorate my 2nd year in my cottage. Also make felt ornaments, wreaths from felt for different seasons.
Thanks so much for watching and subscribing. Lovely to hear you love making things too 🌸
I loved all those fabrics you showed. I'm on their website now ordering!
Have fun!
Thank you for taking the time to create this inspiring video about sewing I have sown since I was eleven and now I am 66. Keep up the excellent content. . Naomi From Rhode Island
You are so welcome! Thank you!
I’m new to your channel today . I have been sewing about 60 years Thanks for sharing your ideas. I recently finished a sashiko project and it was so fun, simple, and easy. Have you tried it? I’d love to see a vlog about it. Thanks again.
I really enjoyed your video, for the first time I could see it isn't so difficult to sew hexagons! I have ME/CFS and have to rest a lot, and I tend to over complicate things in my head! You have given me the confidence to have a go! I bought a monthly quilt kit to make my grandson a seaside quilt, but haven't had the confidence to get started! But now I feel I want to give it a try! I am an experienced knitter, so this will be a real change for me, thank you so much ! You have really inspired me to try! I am looking forward to your next video xx🌹
I’m so glad to hear that, you can definitely do it, especially if you are a knitter because knitting can be complicated, you will be able to transfer skills from knitting to quilting like following instructions measurements etc. hope you enjoy your new stitching journey 🌸
I'm so happy to find your channel. I loved this video, it is so calming and inspiring. One of my aims for this year is to learn to sew clothes, a couple of tops and trousers to start. I just finished patching jeans for the first time. I don't see myself making a large quilt, but I think a quilted bag would be lovely. This is the first time I've really seen EPP up close, thank you for demystifying it. Happy New Year.
Hello, thank you so much for watching the video! You are so welcome here. Wishing you lots of happiness making those things this year 🌸
Thank you for this lovely video. I love listing to you as it relaxes me. It makes a lot of sense to slow down and sew at your own speed I am inspired to make a hexagon quilt with special fabric on both sides. Hope you have a great 2025
Thank you so much Josie, wishing you a lovely 2025 too
Thanks Emma . Love hand sewing . Been working on my 2 inch hexies . Take care .
Just found your channel and I love it. Your voice and accent are so lovely and soothing. Your works are beautiful and inspiring. I love your message of finding your creative outlet, mindfulness and selfcare. Look forward to seeing more from you.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate you watching and such kind words 🤗
❤ I'm so happy I came across your video. Your happy memories quilt is so lovely 😍 👏
Thank you so much!
You and my mum are the main reasons I started EPP and sewing. Keep up the good work. Have a productive, healthy and happy 2025. Thank you for sharing these lovely fabrics. I am now having problems choosing which fabric and ribbons to buy from the Elmhirst website😅😅
Oh gosh, they have so many don’t they! Take care and thanks for watching
Thank you so very much for this lovely video, Emma. You are so right - doing things that bring us joy is good for us and makes our lives happier and us more able to do all the rest of the things which we have to do. May you have a happy and healthy 2025.
Thank you so much! Happy new year!

HelloEmma Thank you for replying to my comment , do you have a channel every day , I really enjoyed , it's been so cold here inAshford as like every where , keep warm , Best wishes Gill x ❤😊
I am watching / listening while basting EPP diamond templates & fabric for a quilt made of old oxford shirts--various stripes and plaids and checks in blues & white--stars--in an arrangement which will reveal itself as it progresses.
Lovely video Emma, those fabrics are gorgeous, I definitely need to collect more of them for my stash. I like the idea of a seasonal slow stitch book, you could add your lovely embroidery into it too. Leela xx❤
Aww thanks so much for watching! Yes I feel a slow stitch book might just be on the cards 😊🌸
Thank you Emma for sharing this video. I feel calmer already. I’m glad you showed how make a hexagon without the paper. ❤
Glad it was helpful! Take care 🌸
Happy New year Emma! I started sewing since I retired last year and I love it. I do all sorts, cross stitch, surface embroidery, all and patchwork. I also knit and crochet. I love your videos, I find them really relaxing as well as informative. Thank you for your time.xx
Happy new year Sue! That sounds wonderful, you can never have too many things on the go. Thanks so much for watching 🌸
What a beautiful video.. I came across this by chance. It really lifted my spirits. The whole thing was a joy. Both Visually and audibilly (is that a word?) Your voice is so soothing, but also interesting to listen to. Thank you.
Oh such kinds words! That really means a lot to me, thank you!
Thank you for sharing your heartfelt experience of hand sewing. It has reminded me of the joy I got from hand sewing some teddies once when I was recovering from surgery. My mother was a seamstress and milliner so any sewing has been intimidating for me. Crochet has been my passion since retiring but now you've given me the tools and mindset to get creative with the needle too! Woohoo!
Hello thank you for the video. I totally agree with you, I love sewing, knitting crochet and gardening, it is so relaxing and therapeutic.
It’s lovely to have such peaceful hobbies, thanks for watching
I stumbled upon this video on RUclips. Thank you! You are very wise and inspiring!!! I am a knitter and a weaver and want to get into quilting. Those Liberty and Elmhurst fabrics look amazing together!!! Thank you for your encouragement!!!
Oh thank you so much! That’s so kind. Appreciate you watching
I loved this video. You inspired me to do some work on an embroidered quilt for my daughter. I actually started it over a year ago and it was to be a gift for the Christmas just gone. I feel sure it will be finished for the coming Christmas. And I absolutely love your memory quilt. 😊💕
Thanks so much for watching. Sometimes things just need to take that bit longer but it will be so worth it, I’m sure you’ll do it for this Christmas and it will be even more special, what a lovely gift for your daughter
What a treat this video is!❤
Thank you!
Hello Emma,
I happened upon your video this morning and I am truly inspired. I do like to sew by hand and machine and hand embroidery. It is this time of year that I like to embroider so I got out a set of stamped pillowcases and will begin shortly on this snowy day. Thank you from Ontario, Canada ❤
Hello Carol, lovely to meet you and hear about what you like to make. Thank you for watching the video 🌸
I really look forward to being a part of your community. I do machine embroidery, regular sewing, etc. I have been trying my hand around hand embroidery also. I have a lot of blocks made with my machine. ❤
You are so welcome here, I hope you will love what I have to share 😊🌸
I love your memory quilt❤. Keep the videos coming, please❤

A Very Happy New Year to you, Emma. Thank you so much for taking the time to make such wonderful videos which are always "quietly inspiring" and I'm really looking forward to seeing your 2025 projects. Diana. xxx
Happy new year Diana, thank you for watching and for such a lovely comment x x
I’ve just ordered hexagon pre-cut cards and some fabric to try EPP I normally sew clothes but my sewing area is in the front room my husband has terminal lung cancer and sleeps a lot in the front room so i don’t want to disturb him. I need a hobby that I can sit quietly and do that stops my mind wandering to dark times ahead. I love watching your videos and love your projects
I hope EPP will help you get through those difficult times, so sorry to hear what you are going through, you and your husband are in my thoughts and prayers, take care 🌸
How beautiful! I love the ideas of the happy memories quilt. I think I may try it. Thank you. You have such a calming voice. I really enjoyed your video.
Thank you so much!
Beautuful Video, beautiful soothing voice and very wise words..We all need to slow down and it was such a gift watching this video .I almost cried looking at the beautiful prints winter scences etc!! Pieces of Art in my View....Also all the comments on here are so good for The Soul from us like minded creative people...Happy new year to you and all on here 🎉❤❤
Thank you so much! That really means so much to me. Happy new year 🌸
I think the Elmhirst fabtic would be lovely joined as they are with strips of ivory coloured solid with embroidery like book titles of things on fabrics and the fabrics will look like book covers.
Great idea!
I almost didnt watch this video because of the word " should" which i heard a lot growing up and learned its a negative word! But Emma you are such an inspirational speaker that i pulled my hand stitching out to stitch along. Ty ❤ ❤
Oh I didn’t think of it like that but totally understand what you mean. When I say should I’m just saying it in a gentle way. Thank you so much for watching Jayne, means a lot 🌸
Thank you Emma, you are very inspiring. I have chronic pain and I find sewing and crochet help to divert my focus from pain to de stressing and being upbeat and positive. I don’t know where I would be without my crafts.❤❤
So sorry you suffer with chronic pain Julie, I’m glad crafting helps you though. Take care ❤️
Such a good reminder.
Hello from Minnesota! What a fun channel! I'm so glad you showed up in my feed. I'm looking forward to doing a happy memory quilt myself. Thank you, Emma!
Thank you so much! Welcome to this lovely community!🌸
Your videos are wonderful and creative using our hands without lots of repetition and hard lines like machine quilting. Inspired by you I have designed more and appreciate threads, fabrics and colours again.
Thank you so much!
I really love all your little projects you showed in the beginning of this video. Thank you for your little inspirational chat. I love sewing and quilting. I also love making things for others. I just made a gnome doll for a friend. She loves it. Keep up the good work and inspiring me to do more. God bless you.
Thank you so much! Happy stitching 🧵
