Although I have been doing embroidery, cross-stitch and quilting for many years, I began hand quilting (larger stitches) about 2 years ago. I am 78 and have managed to finish quilts for my three children. That has led me to do EPP and it's very satisfying. Hopefully I will finish it for my oldest granddaughter as she has taken an interest in my grandmother's flower garden. Thank you for the refresher!
Hi Emma I also have been hand stitching and embroidering for many years. The ladder stitch is one I never was able to master.Your directions and close up are very helpful. I make a lot of stuffed toys for my great grandkids. The ladder stitch will come very handyThank you sweet lady ❤️
Your appliqué stitch reminds me of the hemming stitch my mother taught me. I used it when I shortened and then hemmed all my skirts and dresses in 1968-1972. My mother sewed clothes for me, but drew the line at raising my hems, she didn’t mind me doing the work. It was the miniskirt era and I was the perfect age of 17-21.
This is by far the best close-up video I've ever seen. Just beautiful. I would love it if you could show us one using your decorative stitches. Many thanks.
I finally got the pony needles that are marked. When I tried them I noticed that the markings were catching on the material. It didn't slide as freely as needles without the marking. Have you noticed this????
Thank you so much. I am going to save your video so I can refer to it because I've often heard of the ladder stitch and have never done it so this way I can refer back to your video.
You are a wonderful teacher!! Thank you so much for such an informative video! I have done all of these stitches and very much enjoy hand sewing but it is always wonderful to see how someone else does things!! I learned a lot from this video and will definitely watch it repeatedly!! Thank you!!
Thank you Emma. Your close ups make the instructions so clear and understandable. I am overseas from you but what a treat for your locals to take in person classes from you. I learned a lot and learning from you via RUclips is a wonderful option.
What a lovely resumé of these supremely useful stitches, together with the pleasure of seeing your beautiful fabrics and stitching, Emma. Thank you for another lovely video❤
Hi I'm a new follower I love your channel would you recommend a ladder stitch to close the opening of a pillow? Thank you so much for the video I'm glad I found you!
I'm sure you say on the video where you're doing the QAYG hexagons. But I'm thinking you use the applique stitch when you sew the back down when you bring it around on the front...?

If you mean the one with the mark on it it’s your certain stitching by Pony and it’s a sharps
Such a useful video, thank you 😊
You’re welcome 😊
Please tell me where can I get the needle that has the marked for the running stitch. I live in the USA and can't find them anywhere.
@@JeanMcDoniel why not just mark your needles yourself with a permanent marker or maybe a bit of nail polish?
I found them on the Michaels website
@@melanienicholson2834thanks for sharing that information. I was looking as well. Thanks again!

Hi I'm a new follower I love your channel would you recommend a ladder stitch to close the opening of a pillow? Thank you so much for the video I'm glad I found you!
I’ll look to see if you’ve done a beginner appliqué video. I’d like to learn.
This is excellent, thankyou
You're very welcome!
When you are doing the ladder stitch, you don't have to wait until the end. You can pull it tight with each stitch, and it won't pucker as much.
Yes you can!
I'm sure you say on the video where you're doing the QAYG hexagons. But I'm thinking you use the applique stitch when you sew the back down when you bring it around on the front...?
Yes it is 😊🌸
Good job 👏
Thank you very much!
Wondering where you bought your thimble?
It’s from Thimbles for you 😊
Do you wash your fabric before sewing Emma?
No I never do 🌸
The use of a hoop or frame, tension will be improved, and puckering reduced or eliminated.
Do you think traditionally, when ladies used to sew their clothes by hand that they used the back stitch?
❤
