      Why? The test is to check your haplogroups. If your maternal haplogroup is European then that's still information you didn't know before. Is it now trendy to hate on Europeans?

    • @melanieblue2
      @melanieblue2 2 года назад +16

      @Michael Michael Please don’t come at me with that attitude, you do not know me! I’m not hating on anyone! I already know my European back ground. I’m also aware of how it got there. Reason why I don’t want to spend 400.00 on an African Ancestry test that’s going to tell me what I know. I want to know about my African people/tribe and if that makes you uncomfortable tuff.. Stop acting oppressed like the world is against Europeans all the sudden.

    • @LiftedByYah
      @LiftedByYah 2 года назад +4

      You’d be spending more money but if you wanted to be sure of African results on your mothers side you could do a 23AndMe test which would give you a maternal Haplogroup. If it is L then you’d definitely want to take an African Ancestry test.

    • @michaelmichael8314

      @@melanieblue2 How do you know how your European got there? Did you go back in history to watch your ancestors conceptions? I'm acting oppressed because I think people are hating on Europeans? How would that have anything to do with me? Are you assuming I'm European? Your haplogroups will tell you nothing about YOUR ethnic background. It may reveal a tiny percentage of one of your distant ancestors background

    • @melanieblue2
      @melanieblue2 2 года назад +3

      @Michael Michael The fact that you took my initial comment & made assumption you know nothing about says a lot “is it trendy to hate on europeans.” You don’t know me! And it’s none of your damn business how I know what I know. However, if you must ( I’m from Louisiana,. I know plenty regarding my European ancestry & how it got there.) Doesn’t mean I “hate europeans.” However, I choose to re connect with my African Ancestry. Again, if that bothers you seek help. Don’t worry about how I choose to use MY DNA when it comes to MY African Ancestry. Now leave me alone Michael. PS. Took my AFRICAN Ancestry DNA test two weeks ago! 💕

      3 other lines?? He has thousands of lines or in other words lineages in his family. African Ancestry specializes in testing your direct maternal lineage, your mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s lineage etcetera unto a foremother that passed down the genetic signature existent on his mitochondria, also your direct paternal lineage your father’s father’s father’s lineage and so forth unto the forefather that passed down a specific genetic signature by way of his y chromosome.
      These test results represent about 2 to 3 percent of your genetic make up. They have their benefit, but you get faaaaaaa’r more bang for your buck when you test with Ancestry DNA or 23 and Me. These two companies specialize in autosomal(admixture)dna tests revealing unto you the random 50 percent of each of your parents genetic make ups you receive: you never receive everything your parents are composed of, solely a random recombination of genes from both 50/50. Not only this, what is great about Ancestry DNA and 23 and Me which are cheaper than African Ancestry, is that they give you access to their database filled with hundreds of dna cousin matches they’ve matched you with. What is great for a black American you can find distant African cousins, and you can message them. These African cousins will be representative of your ancestral origins.
      So far I have found African cousin dna matches that are.....
      Igbo from Nigeria 🇳🇬
      Edo from Nigeria 🇳🇬
      Hausa-Fulani from Nigeria 🇳🇬
      Mandinka from Senegal 🇸🇳
      Mandinka from the Gambia 🇬🇲
      Wolof from Senegal 🇸🇳
      Bambara from Mali 🇲🇱
      Fula(Fulani)from Guinea 🇬🇳
      Ashanti from Ghana 🇬🇭
      Fante from Ghana 🇬🇭
      Ga from Ghana 🇬🇭
      Lorma from Liberia 🇱🇷
      Fula(Fulani)from Sierra Leone 🇸🇱
      Douala from Cameroon 🇨🇲
      Vili from the Republic of the Congo 🇨🇬
      Bakongo from Angola 🇦🇴
      Mbundu from Angola 🇦🇴
      My direct maternal lineage goes back to a Yoruba foremother from Nigeria 🇳🇬 also which I discovered from African Ancestry, so I’m sure I have some Yoruba dna cousin matches I haven’t discovered yet or who just haven’t tested. My direct paternal lineage goes back to an Akan forefather from Ghana. As shown I have found Ashanti and Fante dna cousin matches; the Ashanti and Fante are Akan subgroups. These cousins maybe linked to me on other lineages though.

    First thing is, take a test that admits your haplogroup. They share you must have african haplogroup. It's on the website. Second, if you have already taken a test they receive the test and it can be used to determine your ethnic group. It's a bit cheaper than swabbing and sending it out again.
    My mother's maternal side are H11a2. Once I found that out, wasn't going to take the test 👌
    You don't need to take a test if your mother's is European. You or your father would take this patriclan test to find the ethnic group.

    I understand man. I get it. I tested with living DNA and family tree DNA, and both of them say my y haplogroup is European. When I tested it with living DNA back in 2023 it came back European and I thought it was a mistake, but they mentioned it wasn’t. I was like OK. So I decided to test with family tree DNA and see if I would get a different result. A couple of weeks later my results came back and my YDNA haplogroup was European. At this point, I was like OK so my y haplogroup is European. I thought about testing with African ancestry but only for my maternal side. I’m hoping if I do decide to test with African ancestry I hope it come back African for my mom's side at least.

    Even if the MatriClan test pinpoints your mtDNA to Europe, it doesn’t mean you’re not African. It’s just the beginning of your journey.
    You can still trace the rest of your African lineages with help from your father (paternal grandfather and paternal grandmother) and your mother’s dad and male relatives (maternal grandfather and his maternal grandmother).
    I initially had concerns about my MatriClan test being traced back to Europe despite having close to 100% Sub Saharan African DNA and it was because 2 percent being traced back to Northwestern Europe.
    It wasn’t until I was invited by African Ancestry to be part of the Live Day Reveal and I found out my results are traced back to the Tuareg people in Mali today. Right now, I am currently awaiting my results from the PatriClan test and it’s a relief my Y chromosome is African in origin and a E1b1a variant.

    As far as the other test I taken Ancestrydna and 23 and me I like Ancestrydna the most out of the two. I Ancestrydna results were a lot more detailed imo than my 23 and me results. But the good thing about 23 and me is I found out that my maternal haplogroup is African I just don’t know what Ethnic group since 23 and me or Ancestrydna doesn’t tell you that information. I would say if you can afford it take both test every once in awhile both test are on sale but if you wanna just take one Ancestrydna has a lot of useful information as far as ancestors even though you have to pay to view certain information about your Ancestors.

Especially since they tend to have a mix of Berber ancestry which is Northern Africa. So your ancestor might have been Berber on your maternal side. You should do the Patrilenal test....it traces your Y chromosome. I got Senegambia in my results. So lots of tribes Mandinka, Mende & Temne, Kru and Fula...

    @1NAOT 2 года назад

    I was listening to your message and clearly understand how the result changes your ability to control your previous narrative as to explaining your allegiance to the ethnic group that you were either told you were part of or were led to believe that you belonged to. In the USA the idea of white supremacy back in the late 1400s didn’t exist. It was common back then for all types of people to understand who was educated or was rich intelligent or was strong or was weak or intelligent or unskilled or skilled or multi language or bilingual or speaking one language, the world had religion and that appeared to be more significant rather than skin color…However early Colonial slavery made a distinction in those 13 original colonies that race meant that skin color would be the determination or authoritative and dominance and acceptance and ownership of others based solely on color…This was the invention of the so called white race. As there is only a human race of the world we now see evidence that civilization story has a set of markers where our DNA tell of our past human journey… So do not get it twisted you are part of the great human race and as much as you are one of the classic categories of humans there can be no confusion about who you are. Only those who believe this fake doctrine of white supremacy or superiority to world dominance are going to be fooled into belief that your ethnicity makes better or worst than another human being… when they are saying the first this or that to have a position they are not talking DNA they are talking white supremacy mumbojumbo .. As we are surely coming to realize that it was not only the Atlantic Slave trade that caused some DNA strains to be in evidence in Poles and Slavs and Russians and other East even Europeans today even in it .2 or.3 percent. Of course as the world has created the narrative that “white people isre this or that above others” we have these example of DNA that ca not be erased from them nor can it be erased from you… many try to hide it some flaunt what might not be obvious to others as they claim their alliance to say the Proud Boys although they themselves look nothing like Caucasian. Perhaps that example is too extreme but what I am saying is you are human and if you caught up in how white or black you are you are falling for the white supremacy line of divisiveness. There is L first man first woman point of origin and subsequent migration moments of generations that followed. It goes back 100s of thousands of years ago and it does not have a fucking thing to do with skin variables and religion and or some eugenics theories. There is only one human race…

    • @michaelmichael8314
      @michaelmichael8314 2 года назад +1

      @@SpiritReadz African ancestry is not a proper DNA test. It only tests your paternal haplogroup aka your father's father's father etc and your maternal haplogroup aka your mother's mother's mother etc. So though your father has mostly African ancestors, his father's father's father's father's line (his direct paternal line) leads back to a European man who possess a y chromosome common in Spain. If you want to do a DNA test that can break down your overall ethnicity then get him to do ancestry DNA or 23andme. These paternal haplogroups and maternal haplogroups testing tell you next to nothing about your ethnicity

      @@SpiritReadz Keep in mind they are interesting tests to have if you're simply looking to know more about your direct maternal line or direct paternal line. For instance if your surname is O'Neill, you might be interested to know if it actually leads back to the Irish king Niall of the nine hostages (through an unbroken male line) from which the name is derived from. So the tests has its uses, but out of the millions and millions of ancestors you have from a thousand years ago, it only tells you about 1 of those ancestors, if you do the maternal and paternal testing it only tells you about 2

    That's Arab. Your Paternal ancestor could have been a descendant of one of the Prophets Companions or The Prophets' Daughter Fatima who settled in North West Africa. There are plenty of them in places like Northern Senegal Mali and Mauritania. You shouldn't be devastated by the paternal side. There was a group of husbands and wives, who were busted trying to sell some Fulani slaves and ended up sold into slavery. They ended up in South Carolina and were from the Trarza region of Mauritania. They worked and purchased their freedom. Eventualy they sued to be released from the governance of the 1740 Negro act which was inclusive of the "Ancient Berbers" and their descendants. They won the case and settled in South Carolina but there's no paper trail with surnames that they may have chosen. They were known as the "Moors of Sundry." A lot of ahistorical quacks like to misuse their story to claim being Moroccans. However, they were Trarza and lived across the Senegal border which was the area known as Futa Tooro. Everyone taken into slavery was not 'black." If you need sources give a shout.

    • @GuardianoftheGoldenStool
      @GuardianoftheGoldenStool 4 года назад +1

      adukeomawale What do you mean they got both of your tests wrong? They specialize in testing direct maternal and direct paternal lineages. Do you know what those are? Your direct maternal lineage is your mother’s mother’s mother’s mother’s going as far back to an unbroken line of female progenitors passing down their genetic signatures to their male and female children by way of their mitochondria. Your direct paternal lineage is your father’s father’s father’s father’s lineage etcetera going as far back to an unbroken line of male progenitors passing their genetic signatures down to their male descendants on their y chromosomes. These direct lineages represent about 2 to the 3 percent of your genetic make up. Looking at your username, if you are perhaps African(Yoruba?) from a specific ethnic group, seeing you are from that ethnic group there is no guarantee that the foremother(direct maternal lineage) or forefather(direct paternal lineage) that passed down their genetic signature were in fact apart of the same ethnicity you currently identify with. These tests can go back hundreds of years. Admixture has definitely occurred among African ethnic groups.
