      @@jaxsonpierre2363 Thank you for saying this. I can only speak for myself, but I feel very confused. As a bi-racial person, with such extreme dysfunction on both sides of the family, these conversations just didn't happen. The great-uncle or grandparent who may have known, they've all passed away. The only access I have to my own ancestry would be through this type of testing. I've always wondered if it's bullshit, so I'm only just now looking into it. Anyway, I resonated with you said about it being painful to not know who your people are, what mistakes they made that maybe I could learn from, what their triumphs were. I have no history beyond my deadbeat mother and the grandmother who reluctantly made an attempt to raise me.

    I am a Ghanaian(Ewe Tribe) but I can trace my ancestors in Togo,Benin, Ivory Coast, Nigeria and across West Africa and we also inter married. So our current location may not be where we originally comes from. History tells us that all the tribes and ethnic groups moved around West Africa and beyond until the Europeans came and put borders amongst us.

      @Professor What I just received my results from Ancestry and It says I'm 33 percent Cameroon/Congo/Southern Bantu and 32 percent Benin/Togo. Also 13 percent Ghana and 4 percent Mali with 1 percent Nigerian. 1 percent Native America and the other 16 percent is Euro. So I'm 83 percent African, but which is was 93 at least but it is what it is. I just knew I was a descent percentage of Nigerian but apparently I wasn't. But after reading your comment about your Igbo friend got me thinking that maybe I do have more Nigerian. I got this clue because my my sister had two Nigerian boyfriends. Something must have attracted them to her and the thought came to my mind that something about her must remind them of Igbo women back home. From this I was thinking we must have Nigerian in our roots or at least a good percentage. It's not a scientific theory, just a hunch.

    • @ramakrishnashalom9004
      @ramakrishnashalom9004 5 лет назад +1

      @Professor What Also, Ancestry is probably thinking that they are finding the DNA in that Southeastern Nigeria, Cameroon, Congo and Southern Bantu to be so closely identical that what's the use of trying to separate them. They are all pretty much Family. Lol.

We speak broken English unlike the early settlers.That area of land was bought by the British from the Temne people, who where the early settlers on that piece of land.

      All these fake and assumed DNA tests are derived from information provided by the same nations of the world whom have sworn to keep us ignorant to our true history and heritage. Their results will always show the so-called African-American is from some tribe of Africa. They will never show that any so-called African-American is actually from any tribe of Israel. They are continually trying to convince us all that we are of native African descent.
      If you never know you are the original israelites. You want feel the need to return to the ways of your true ancestors and obey the Laws, Statutes and Commandments of TMH. Fake results will keep you asleep. Wake Up my people. PLEASE!!!!!!

      @@hutchcoservices Whether they show that we are from Israel or not does not take anything away from us either way. And I do believe that through the paternal line they can trace it back to Israel. The Word gives us clarification of who we are so we don't need others to do so. Also remember our people fled persecution to West Africa so it can still be traced back either way. At least that is my opinion about the situation. To be able to link your history up with a certain tribe opens the door in so many ways to who you are. There is a list of the people who are supposed to be Hebrew decendants. I will put the video link under here.

Akans are the majority in Ghana and Ivory Coast, so cultural identity goes beyond country boundaries, and all these tribes are linked somehow. For example, why is fufu eaten from western to central Africa? Tribes were interlinked and did not have boundaries.

The 7 original Tikar kingdoms include the villages of Bankim, Boitikong, Ngambe Tikar, Bandam, Nditam, Ntem and I have to check on the number 7. Also Isaiah Washington is Mende. He is a Chief too.

    Congratulations!!!! Sooo happy for you both and welcome to the African Ancestry Family :D. I tested with AA earlier this year and discovered I have Tikar MtDNA..so heyyyy Cousin Safiyyah, girl! lol.
    I hope y'all will both join the African Ancestry Online Community. There is a WEALTH of knowledge on there. Tikar and Mende are some of the most often represented results, along with Temne, Balanta, Bubi, Yoruba, and Hausa. There are several others of course, but people with these ancestries are rolling deep and always sharing info when they find it.
    From what I have learned so far from Tikar FB groups is that our ancestors resisted slavery and were not down with it AT ALL; so, they were targeted by other groups who staged war with them. I know the Mende resisted as well (i.e. Amistad). Love you both!!!

    This is so dope. I’ve always been skeptical of these tests but watching your video has changed my mind. BTW my mom is from James Island South Carolina. Her family is definitely Geechie/Gullah. We traced our family history back to 1800’s and have a beautiful tree with descendants names. My grandfather was a farmer where he grew rice and other fruits and vegetables. We are fisherman and seafood is a big part of our diet. (At least for my family. Okra and conch/crab soup, black eye peas, cassava) Everything she said was spot on. We are also known for weaving beautiful baskets. There is a wonderful Gullah storyteller you must go hear.

      @Catherine Malone Do you remember the movie "Daughters of the Dust" from the 90s about the Gullahs, OMG that movie was Epic! Re the DNA skepticism, I totally get it but it is very real, I did 2 with African Ancestry dot com and 1 with Ancestry dot com and there is noooo way that they could know I am related to the matches on my list - some of the cousins who I actually know because we grew up in the NY/NJ area together (sharing g. grandparents) I did not even know they had taken the test too but they showed up on my list of close matches. The case was solidified even more only 2 days ago when talking to an older cousin on the phone reminiscing, I casually asked her daughter's last name who I've never met- when she said the last name, it sounded so familiar. I checked my list of matches that is at least 5 years old and sure enough there she was listed as 3-4th cousin. So yeah, it's a real science, the DNA never lies!
