I'm Ghanaian, but I think a lot of us are mixed with other African countries, because Africa used to be one large country until the europeans mercilessly and greedily carved it out. Therefore, we should all have genetic ancestry test to find out which African country or tribe we are mixed with. That would be interesting.

This is wonderful to share. The great part of it is you all have a Love of Africa already. I made my African Ancestry journey 8 years ago to find out my Paternal side is Ewe of Ghana. And my maternal is a combination of Temne of Sierra Leone, Mandinka of Senegal and Kru Of Liberia. It was such a liberating feeling. I still haven't been to mama Africa yet but will definitely get there next year atleast twice. Many Blessings to you brother. Burkina Faso means The Land of Upright Men Comrade Thomas Sankara led what used to be the Upper Volta region to liberation in the 80's from French Imperialism. There's a lot of pride in that. Salute.

It is important to know who you are what makes you who you are. Further more if you want to go deep it's a come back I mean they tried to take us from our people and take our identity so doing this takes that power right back. I hope you all go see the people it's beautiful. I travel to Africa twice a year beautiful place.

I knew that brother's folks were up near Mali- and the Sahel (Northern Burkina Faso). He has the look of the African people from around the Sahara. His ancestors were Muslims from a great Muslim Empire. Wiki says of the Marka people: ''Muslim merchant communities at the time of the Ghana Empire, the Maraka largely controlled the desert-side trade between the sahel communities and nomadic berber tribes who crossed the Sahara. The Bambara integrated Maraka communities into their state structure, and Maraka trading posts and plantations multiplied in the Segu based state and its Kaarta vassals in the 18th and early 19th centuries. When the pagan Bambara empire was defeated by the Maraka's fellow Muslim Umar Tall in the 1850s...''

Yellow light African ancestry doesn't do percentages just the original ethnic group that their ancestors belong to. It's the 23 on me and the other DNA test that show percentages. The percentage Dimension here was just the accuracy of the test for the ethnic group that They tested

I need to share with you that any black, brown people who are descendants of slaves that came here during the Atlantic Slave trade are really not originally from West Africa. Actually if your research you will find that those tribes that were attacked and enslaved migrated from East Africa and what they now call the Middle East. Again when Rome was killing the true Hebrews; millions of them ran down into West Africa to get away from the Romans. This was a common practice for the descendants of Abraham.Isacc an nd Jacob. We migrated down into west Africa a d built our own homes libraries, and we a great wealth. We came from the Kingdom of Juda and Negro-land. But originally our ancestors 3000 years ago were black Asiatics and are land extended pass India. When you go home, they will tell you that they migrated there thousands of years ago. Do your research. Read From BABYLON TO TIMBUKTU by Rudolph R. Windsor his research shows just how we got to West Africa and we were there 1500 years until we were betrayed by those who were not of the Hebrew Nations. Read Thirteenth TRIBE.

+Lesbiana31 , I doubt ancestry.com has a large enough African database. I have a feeling they recycle other people's result. I would not trust 'em when it come to black people.

When it comes to names of countries in Africa, these are real African names, used by European explorers to name places they've been on the continent. The miss conception of most is that white people just arrived in Africa and conquer. Many centuries ago other parts of the world come to Africa to exchange goods and commodities they don't have. All names has meaning in African Languages according to regions, they are not European names. Black people need to get African History books and read it themselves instead of waiting for white people to tell them. In order to rule in Africa they got together with all European countries to divide to rule. That's what Trump is doing today in America. We all need to be vigilant again. Was born and raise in Benin Republic, but my ancestry came from various places in Africa from Searra Leone, Nigeria to Uganda. Black African need to visit Africa and see it for themselves. African Ancestry is the bridge that can do that now.
