Don't you LOVE how the guitar can take over a high note from Brad, and then he takes it back? No one does this like Boston. Brad Delp was one of a kind vocalist and Tom Scholz is a maestro musician and technician. He built the studio this was recorded in. In his basement. Then later, he invented the Rockman guitar effects pedal! More Than a Feeling is one of the six songs I would have to have on a deserted Island for my very survival.

I first heard More than a Feeling when it came out in 1976...I was 6 years old. Even being so young it caught my ear...it really did. Unfortunately I was too young to see them in concert and watch them play it. Closer to Deep Purple’s sound, check Uriah Heep, Blue Oyster Cult and Magnum. Besides Scorpions, dive on early Def Leppard, UFO, Michael Schenker Group and early Europe. We old heads remember this album. 1976 brought us this new band, then Steely Dan gave us Aja the next year. Great memories.
    Have a great day.

What's amazing is that to get the guitar sustain, back then, Scholz was like a scientist, figure out ampload, voltage regulation, in order to crank the head and get natural compression, sustain, straight Marshall amp head. There was no digital Boston patch to dial up in 1976.

Boston's debut album is one of the rarities where every song on the album is still in heavy rotation on Classic Rock FM radio stations even to this very day. Every song is at least as good as "More Than A Feeling". I'd recommend "Foreplay/Long Time" from this album next. It's incredible!

What I end up remembering about most Boston music is how the guitar seems to soar; like you are lifting off to take a ride.

I tell you my man, you really need to hear the SACD (Super Audio CD) version. You can buy the digital download online or search for the physical disc. Listening to it in DSD (Direct Stream Digital) is a whole new world. Find yourself a DAC (digital to analog converter) that supports DSD or DoP (DSD over PCM) and get a really nice pair of headphones or an SACD player with a good amplifier and speakers and be blown away.
