The WHOLE ALBUM is like this!!!
Buckle UP!!!
Their 2nd and 3rd albums, are also very good.
I'll tell ya man ... as a father I can't begin to tell you how much your Dad must be enjoying your experience with all this music. It brings ME joy and you're not even my kid.
LOL, I know what you mean. Sheer, unbridled exuberance!
Yup!!!!!!
@bobtedeman I can totally relate... This young man is awesome and exciting to watch as he listens to music from our era!!! 👍🏻😂😎
as a mom, here, me too!!! :)
And his grandad! I was a 16 when I first heard this in 1985 cruisin in a friend's 1977 camaro blasting it. I proceeded to wear out a couple of CDs - and the records when I got my hands on them. I'm 54, now!
Restores my faith in humanity to know that the youth can recognize a pop masterpiece when they here it.
I was 15 when this album was released. Imagine this unprecedented sound blasting out of radios everywhere. Boston simply dominated for months.
I was in grade 8
1976 I was 10. First Album I ever bought.
@@hm3jenks224 Mine was ABBA - Arrival
@@boris2342 another great album Bro. IDK just so blessed to have been kid from the 70's and teen of the 80's!!
And made people start doing things to their car and home stereos that no one was doing at that time.
Brad Delp had one of the most amazing voices of all time. I was 14 and this song became my favorite then and is still one of my all time favorites.😊
And there ya go - ecstacy on vinyl! No computers, no autotune; just very talented musicians doing their thing. Brad Delp is one of the top vocalists of rock in my book. RIP Brad. You are indeed in for a treat with this whole album as well as the second.
And RIP Sib Hashian.
Correction, musician!. Tom Scholz played every instrument including drums, and only Brad did the vocals. Tom was and still is true genius.
One of the greatest debut lps of all time. Tom Scholz, the guitarist, was an MIT guy who did all the recording, etc. Record company said they wouldn't take it unless it was redone in studio with "professional " engineers.
He said "ok", waited a while, sent in his original takes and they loved it!
I was in 10th grade. Blew us away.
Lead singer was a factory worker who sang on the side...I forget without looking it up where he worked.
Tom Scholz used AVID speakers in his studio and I had the model one step down! Before the lp came out...was my 16th bday present. Harmon-Carden 330c receiver and a BIC turntable.
Good times.
Les Paul guitar, btw
Great in concert...just like the lp. Scholz's guitar shot sparks out of the bottom in one song!
Great to test a stereo with...
EDIT: do the whole lp!
Don't a lot of them use B & W?
@@scottzappa9314 what's B&W? sorry
@@JuniorFarquar Very famous British high end speaker company.
@@scottzappa9314 oh.. I've seen those in publications.
It saw his picture in 78? in his studio with the speakers on his shelves. He was wearing headphones and smiling. I proably still have that old Hit Pararder magazine .
They were awesome hi-fidelity speakers...niche at the time
Yes yes! That debut album was phenomenal. You could play that album and not go wrong at all. I had it on 8-track when it first came out! Also, they were my first concert and when I was in 9th grade I saw them in a fairly small venue and it was so good live I mean I was blown away. The harmonies and the whole band just freaking rocked. I think the ticket price was $7.50.
Now that is the kind of reaction people use to have back when the world had never before heard the sounds that came forth from this album!!
How Fantastc you got to hear this for the first time!! It's a memory you will carry your life through!
Its not just a memory, its more than a feeling . . .
The rest of the album is just like this... I recall when this album came out my best friends girl was named Maryanne... every time I hear this song it reminds me of them both (may they rest in peace). You will fall in love with Brad's voice... like so many of us did in the 70's. (may he also rest in peace)
This album: a timeless classic !!!
A great childhood friend got this for her birthday....ironically she had a sleep over and introduced us to it.....her name was Tori Boston.
I'm so sad your friend and his girl are no longer with us. They both must've passed fairly young. Tragic
@@Lewis9700 They did, he was 50 when he passed away, and she was 56 when she passed.
@@dougphelps6917 That's a shame
I was 15 when this album came out, my older brother bought it and played the heck out of it. It makes me smile to see a teenager from 2022 getting so excited to hear our old music from 46 years ago! Makes an old dude happy.😄
I'm 32 and boston is my all time favorite band! Been listening to this music since I was a kid and I'll never stop
Same to me and I'm Hungarian. At the time I could sing it out.
In the 70's We kids chipped in bought a nice Sony Stereo for my parents Ha ha ...and one of my Big brother bought this album
Silas is an instant Boston fan! I don't know anyone who hasn't been blown away by Boston. Their debut album has to be one of the greatest albums ever let alone debut's! Silas - you're feeling the music is the purest reason for watching. Pure joy and emotions! Great reaction. Onwards to the rest of the album and beyond! So good
SMOKIN ROCKS.....this album it's a greatest hits now..
Boston's debut album is one of the rarest of rare albums which has no clunkers on it. Every song is just a little bit better than the song just before it. Can't wait to see your reaction to "Foreplay/Long Time"......the guitar and vocals in that one will make your face melt from the awesomeness of it!
Your reaction was priceless. I played the album so many times in my youth that I wore it out. The fact the guy put alot of this album together in his basement is a testament to his talent and ingenuity. Would put modern day studios to shame. Your gonna luv the rest of the album.
he had to assemble a band when he was signed to a tour contract because he put this album together by himself, as the story goes.
I think all us teenagers at the time loved this album and had to buy it pretty quickly.
Think about this, kids. This was My era, when creativity was far beyond a digital format
Yep, the whole album is a masterpiece, not a bad song on it. It's a rare thing for an album to have every song on it an actual hit but, this is one of them. I was in high school when this album came out. My brother heard just one song and knew he had to get the 8-track tape. I listened to that tape over and over. This is absolutely one of the greatest albums of all time.
That's what you call a banger my friend! 😜
First album I ever owned. Loved it as a 13 year old in 1977. 45 years later, I still turn my car stereo up to max when it's on.
SAME age same reaction.
Can't wait to see you react to Fore play / Long time Silas. It's my favorite of that Boston album. Epic song
We always called it Foreskin/Long play lol
(Sorry...it's a medical term!!)
Tom Sholtz the king of the pick scrape. Nice choice Silas. Great video. Thanks
One of my favorite songs of all time. I can still remember when I first heard it, as a 20-year old in the Fall of 1976. I immediately went to a local record store to buy the album.
Seeing your first-time reaction was worth waiting 46 years to see....
You are going to love this album! Keep going! Do the whole thing!
The portion of the song from approximately the last verse through the last chorus and ending is probably one of the greatest achievements in recording production and engineering...
When I got my first car it had no working radio but I bought a cassette player and some good-sized speakers and wired it all up. I had, I think, 4 cassettes with music on them from 8 different albums. This included the first two Boston albums. I played those Boston cassettes more than I did all the other music combined. Trip to the store, I played Boston. Trip to my friend's house, I played Boston. Ten hour road trip to another state to see family, I played Boston. Wasn't just the sound, amazing as that was, but the lyrics too. I was young, figuring out who I wanted to be, and the lyrics from some of the Boston songs helped determine what some of those things were going to be.
This album is a masterpiece. Every cut is excellent. The singer is Brad Delp (RIP), one of the greatest vocalists in rock history.
Its weird, the weakest track on the album (Smokin') was the one track that the studio produced LOL
Iconic song!!! Tom Scholz is the brilliant MIT graduate that came up with that "Boston sound" him and barry goudreau playing in harmony together on their guitars!
in concert yes but didn't Tom play all of the guitars in the studio writing this album?
@@squaaaaak3178 yes, at first then when he found Barry Goudreau, he taught him the songs and then barry played the rythm parts and some lead parts.. as far as I know.
Boston² is fire. Nothing is skippable. One of the top 5 debut albums ever, easily.
There are just a very small handful of bands that can lay claim to the fact that they have a truly iconic sound that labels everybody else's music, Boston is ONE of them... There are, at minimum, a dozen + "must listen" to songs by Boston. I always like to push for those hidden gems that tend to slip everyone's mind. For Boston, that song is "Hollyann" off their Third Stage album...
Hollyann was an awesome song!
Can't ya say you believe in me / Still in Love is a heck'uva song too.......
I've waited so long for your reaction to this song.......finally i'm completely satisfied!
*Dude! The rest of the album IS like that!! Just discovered your channel. YEP, Boston's production values were the GOAT! We were all blown away by them back in the '70s! Keep up the good work! I think you'd love the bands Heart and Journey, too!*
The high notes he hits is insane
Great Reaction Silas! I don't believe I've seen you get more excited from a song, not even with Zeppelin, it is one helluva an album, so we're in for a treat :)
This is one of those songs that you remember exactly when and where you were the first time you heard it. Back in 1976 I was 19 and driving my car on a road that was next to a lake and I couldn’t believe what I was listening to. 😊
Yep, it’s a short list for me… Beatles “Hey Jude”, Hendrix “Purple Haze” Neil Young “After the Goldrush” Nirvana “Teen Spirit” Steely Dan “Reeling Through the Years” Doobie Brothers “Black Water” Michael Jackson “Billie Jean”. A fun list to contemplate, thanks!
Tom Scholtz is the founder. He was engineer at Poloroid and crated his own line of effects/amps (Rockman). He made demo of this album in his basement that sounds almost identical. It was bootlegged and called “ Honest, I Found it in the Trash”
YAAAS! Great choice my friend! ❤
Being born and growing up thru my teen years in Boston...I can't help to be a fan!! They were soooo good!!
I’m from Rhode Island and enjoyed Boston songs on the radio back then! They definitely had their own unique sound!
This is one of those albums like deep purple's machine Head. There is no bad song in this album. Every one of them is awesome!
Even the album art work is outstanding, giant guitar shaped spaceships leaving a doomed planet. It all just fits together.
Ah the 70s...the decade of music anthems! Epic time for music. There's a ton of incredible and powerful songs to be had! Go listen...enjoy!! 😀
you're going to freak out when you hear the lead guitar solos on Hitch a Ride. My favorite Boston song, followed by Foreplay/Long Time.
I saw Boston during their 1986 tour...they sounded great! (I still wish I went to their other shows though 😔)
Debut album all done by a couple guys in a basement. Got the record deal without actually having "a band". Best debut album of all time according to many. Hence the tag "the album in search of a band".
So proud to see you checking out Boston! I absolutely love this band they are iconic and I know you'll enjoy it! Dude the whole album is like this there's not one bad song on this album!!
Silas I love your reactions, you can't sit still, because the music gets inside you.Peace out!!!
Man, I remember when this album was released. My reaction to it the first time was similar. Loved your reaction.
That’s exactly the way we felt in ‘76 hearing this album for the first time. They came out of nowhere! How could they be that good! The rest of the album only gets better. :-)
One of the best debut albums of all time👍👍👍👍🤟
Back in the day,we all had this album! It's fire!🔥Not a bad song on the entire album!
Every song on this album was regularly played on FM rock stations in the late '70s and 80s and even now. As far as debut albums go... g.o.a.t.
“If the rest of the album is anything like this . . . ‘ You’re in luck! The rest of the album is EXACTLY like this. Definitely worthy of a full album review.
This album came out 45 years ago when I was a Cadet at the US Air Force Academy. My friend and high school classmate (it's very rare to have high school classmates at a service academy) would rock out to this song most evenings in very much the same way you did in this video. It's heartwarming to know the magic of this music transcends generations.
I remember hearing this song for the first time…and it blew me away and never got bored to hear it over and over again. It is great to see how younger people like you, discover, enjoying and appreciate this music so much. The past few days I watched you enjoying your journey listening to Pink Floyd which I consider on of the, or maybe the best Prog Rock Band ever. To see how you completely absorbed in it…with goosebumps included made me smile and brought back memories how I experienced those albums myself. Never thought it would happen again until I found out about Porcupine Tree. May I suggest you listen to Time Flies (the 11 min + version) from the album The Incident. I always get a lump in my throat when the instrumental part starts. Please give it a try…Love to watch your reaction on this as a Pink Floyd fan.
Watching you react to this reminded me of the first time I heard this song back in 1976. There was nothing like it at the time. Evolutionary musical experience. Reading your face, it's cool to see that it can still blow away new listeners. You know who would have loved to see your face as you reacted? Brad Delp. RIP. He had an amazing voice. This whole album is timeless. I still get goosebumps.
Great choice doing this album. Not a bad song on it. One of the best albums of the 70s. Enjoy!
The fastest selling debut album of all time. All the music was created in Tom Schult’s basement, by himself. He had to put together a band in order to record the album and go on tour.
I was 13 when this song came out ....... and it is still one of the greatest songs ever written and performed ..... Boston is a very hard band to duplicate .... they were one of a kind and the lead singer is the same .........
They are the absolute kings of straight ahead rock and roll! In my mind still the greatest debut album of all time.
Yeah!, 😃 I think you'll like the rest of the album, Boston rocks!. 🎸🎶 Great debut album! 💯 recommend "Foreplay / Long time". Thank you! Peace! ☮
"This is their debut album... and they create THIS??" Yep. And what's even crazier is that for all but one song on the album, "they" is just one guy who set up a recording studio in his basement. He recorded all the instrumental parts himself, and got someone else to do the singing.
The other must-listen from this album is "Foreplay/Long Time" -- it has some truly EPIC guitar sections. I'm also fond of "Peace of Mind", "Smokin", and "Hitch a Ride".
This is one of the greatest debut albums ever. I am now in my early 70s, and I still rock out to Boston on a regular basis.
I was a sophomore when this came out. We all had the album. The whole thing rocks. Every song is killer. Smokin
Out of all the reactors on RUclips, you,by far,are the most contagious!! This is the music I grew up with, I'm proud to say! I'm 55 and react the same enthusiastic way as you! I also cant stay in my seat., the music moves you to a whole different level than you were on when it started!! Mind blowing!! You will not be able to choose one song as a favorite when its over!!
Another super awesome album you have picked from an awesome time in the late 1970s. The radio played all this fantastic music every day.
Try 'Don't Look Back' by them next - the guitar will knock your socks off
You look like I did the first time I heard this way back in the olden days. I heard this song on the radio one day, went straight to the store and bought this album. I absolutely was NOT disappointed...the entire album is just outstanding. Thanks for your reaction, young man............
One of the best debut albums of all time. Great guitar driven pop/rock.
EVERY song on the entire first album is GREAT! Boston's debut album is PHENOMENAL!! A true classic from start to finish!!
Tom wrote and played every instrument on first album and got his friend to sing it. They were such a hit he got more members and travelled then 2nd album he had his full band
Sib played drums.
Best pure 70s rock band IMHO. Yes the rest of this album and the next are just as good!
Great to see you youngsters enjoying some of the greatest rock ever produced! ☮️❤️
Foreplay/long time will blow your mind from the same album. This entire album from start to finish rocks and is one of the top selling debut albums ever.
This is one of those rare perfect albums. Not one bad song. You definitely are in for a treat.
The best and most sophisticated band with the most harmonious vocals ever, and I would especially like to point out about the extravagant, most melodious and phenomenal sound..... Those who have never listened to Boston do not know what they are missing in their life....
Listening to their songs, my emotions touch me so much that every time I shed a tear.... And again, and again....Their songs are fairy tales that last forever....
Yes the rest of the album is a lot like this. Pop rock at it's finest. You're going to go nuts. Enjoy.
This album is nothing but awesomness! Make sure you turn the volume up to max! \m/ \m/
Love your reactions!!!!
No other band sounds like Boston. This album is the greatest debut for any band!!
I grew up in Boston (Roslindale). I heard the band when I was @ 15 years old. EVERYONE bought the Album.
That my dear friend is Classic Rock from the one of the Greatest Bands from the 70's and 80's! Yes my friend, Classic Rock will make you get up and out of your chair and Jam!!!! The Fading of the vocal and music is Totally Awesome!!! Rock On Boston 🤘🤟🤙✊👊 Other great Classic Rock Bands, Journey, Asia, Triumph, just Google greatest Classic Rock Bands and listen to them all!!! RIP Brad Delp. 🙁
Widely considered one of the best debut albums of all time.
I was 26 yrs old when l first heard Boston, l am 71 now. Silas’ reaction is SO genuine!!! I sit and listen and get goose bumps and smile and laugh with JOY enjoying your reaction! You are my favorite!
They were 10 years ahead of the hair band era. Their music is really… Timeless!
My 20 year old son says the only way to listen to this song is on repeat. I've loved it since it was released. Best vocals ever.
Silas, every song on the album is fantastic. I wore this album out as a teenager, blasting it out loud through my Mach 1 speakers. Meant to be played LOUD!
Was 9 years old when this song was released. Listened to Boston in my teens and still enjoy them at 56. See what you young folks are missing? Today's music doesn't even come close. You'll never get those goosebumps.
Mind blowing, huh?! 🤯 Imagine being 16 years old and hearing this for the first time in 1976! We couldn't believe it either! 😆
Kid... You've slapped a huge smile on my face, taking me back to when I was in high school and first hearing this masterpiece. It had the same kind of effect on so many of us then as it has had on you today... and frankly, when I still hear it all these decades later, it still stops me in my tracks. We thought then that it was pure magic, but nearly 50 years later, you help to confirm that it essentially comes to us from another realm.
The feeling you’re showing, we still feel 47 years later. To this day, I fall back in love with my high school girlfriend every time I hear this song.
I was 16 years old when this album dropped. My reaction was very similar to yours. One of the greatest debuts of all time.
This has got to be the best reaction to Boston I've seen. It's great that young teens can appreciate the great classic bands. I loved watching you enjoy this. This was and is one of my favorite bands of all time.
More than a Feeling is one of the best songs of all time. It rips through the soul and breaks your heart in the best way. It gets better every year as you get older. It came out when I was in third grade and am 55 now. So many people have come and gone - And this song reminds me of 1976. Intense bitter sweet feelings of nostalgia.
You know what I notice about younger guys and gals that listen to classic music in general for the first time, and when it’s a song like this or other songs that are timeless and unforgettable, the kids of today recognize the greatness of the song IMMEDIATELY! A great song is a great song, and they almost ALWAYS have reactions like this young man! Loved it!!!!!
New rating system.... 5 chairs out of 5!
& / or the time it takes to eject him
Saw them in concert at the Sun Dome in Tampa, FL. in 1995. What a crowd! While waiting for the concert to start, we saw a man with greying hair in his' 50's walk in, wearing a Tux. His date was a stunning blonde in a light blue floor length evening gown with a tiara, diamond earrings/necklace and white elbow length gloves. 10 feet behind them, in walked a woman in her 30's wearing a black bustier, leather short shorts, fishnet stockings, thigh-high boots and black leather gloves. In her hand was a silver chained dog leash. This leash was attach to the collar of the man she was leading in. He was wearing black combat boots, black leather pants, a black leather vest (no shirt), spiked leather dog collar and a full head black leather mask with only breathing holes! I told my friends "This Concert just went to the next level"!! The concert was awesome!
Yes The Whole Album Is Like This..When It Was Released,, Record Stores Couldn't Keep It In Stock,, When They Got In Their Shipment,, It Would Be Sold Out In Under An Hour.
I really enjoyed your reaction to RUSH's 2112 and hope you will do more RUSH. Boston's debut album is one of the best albums of all time, debut or otherwise IMO. Every track is very good and after listening to it more times than I can imagine I still love it. Listen to the whole album please, you will not be disappointed.
Boston is the greatest band ever and so is this album!!
There are MANY great songs from the 70’s but only a few anthems, you’ve stumbled into one of those few. It’s so great to see a younger generation feel the music the way we used to. Enjoy your journey.
I quoted this song in my Senior yearbook “so many people have come and gone, their faces fade as the years go by, yet I still recall as I wonder on as clear as the sun in the summer sky”
Makes your ears hurt so good doesn't it! So glad you love them like all of the rest of us very cool Boston fans! 😎 ✌️
Hey man! I love the feeling you put into these Boston tracks. Tom Sholz was the brain behind Boston. No disrespect to any of the other band members. Tom recorded and mixed this in his basement studio at home. No Protools or Autotune way back then! Harmonies were on tape and couldn't be copied and pasted. They got it perfect every single time. Awesome! The late Brad Delp on vocals...what an incredible voice he was blessed with!! RIP man. Such a loss to music :(
Tom Sholz (guitar)...just pure genius and once in a lifetime. Read his bio. You will be amazed. BTW...your dad rocks! I am an old man today but I will never forget the awesome music we listened to :) Thank you for the music!
