From 2002 until now I believe that Dog Soldiers is the perfect low budget horror thriller movie about Werewolves. Neil Marshal , the director of the movie did his thing. What he knows to do best. Direct the movie so flawless. And credits also to Mark Thomas about the badass soundtrack of the movie. A movie rare gem. Straight to point, no rubish, gothic atmosphere, gory, brutal and unpredictable, full of suspense. Script has great time flaw . No filler scenes. Everything has a point. That's way you do it. Horror builds in every minute. A badass werewolf movie .
I've seen this ten times over these 20-year lifespan and each time, I vote "Favorite Werewolf Movie". It's claustrophobic, too, so tension is almost a constant but I never get used to it.
I definitely chimed in on recommending this one after American Werewolf in London, really glad to see I wasn't alone in championing it! Super glad you enjoyed it, in some ways I feel like this compares to "rule of cool" monster movies like From Dusk Til Dawn, where the movie logic pulls from myth and other movies whenever it feels it'll add to this story, and there's a lot of "go with it, we're leaving it vague on purpose". Rewatching it, I'd forgotten how much of the humour comes from British "Lad" culture, especially football references ("They think it's all over...it is now!" is ingrained into our lexicon, purely from a fevered moment of match commentary replayed forever), but it all scans for these guys being squaddies. Beautiful stuff, and one of my favourite Sean Pertwee projects, he really gets to play around
Thank you so much for reacting to this film. My late cousin Tom Lockyer is in this film, he plays Bruce, the soldier with the radio who was impaled on the tree branch early on. I love that he was in this incredible, brilliant film. A great legacy for him. It’s just SO good❤️
This movie is full of homages like the homage to "The Matrix" when Sgt. Wells picks up his wristwatch from the puddle of gore and says "The is no Spoon" and the fact that the Sgt.'s full name is Harry G. Wells as an homage to classic sci-fi auhor H.G. Wells.
One thing I love about your reactions is they are authentic, like she when the dog at the start gets shot, I have seen people laugh at that, makes no sense and also yes you are correct, that is Davos from Game of Thrones aka Liam Cunningham.Sharing your channel with my Apple coworkers
I remember watching the director and writers answering questions and the question of why she had not turned with the family came up and basically the way they described it is like needing to poop you can given in and go as soon as you feel you need to or you can chew it back and hold it in for as long as you can until you can no longer hold it in, so her character genuinely wanted out I think and so she was holding it in in the hopes the soldiers could hold off the werewolf's until morning but when she realized they couldn't she switched sides back to the werewolf side and in the end let the transformation happen. This is one of my fave werewolf movies it sadly however never got the recognition it should have and because it was a budget movie it was barely advertised and i think it never even made it to US cinemas due to it not being advertised to gain interest, thing I like most is there was no CGI and the werewolfs where all practical
I think the movie sort of implied that you can hold in transforming during the full moon, like Sarge and Megan, and hold off transforming back into a human during the day, like Ryan. With the bathroom analogy that Copper and Sage discussed, you can hold off going to the toilet for a while, but eventually, you can't. As far as I can tell, Megan was a real zoologist who went out to study the rumours, got infected and was "adopted" by the family. She had no intention of betraying Ryan or Sarge's team and hoped they would get her out. She must have staved off transforming when the rest of the family did, went out looking for Ryan's team, and found the Sarge's. She was desperate to leave the house when Copper suggested it, but the werewolves totalled the car. Then they wrecked the landrover they hotwired. Seeing no way to escape and with her running out of time holding off the transforming, she let the werewolves in to buy back loyalty. It looked to me that she felt guilty every time she attacked one of the werewolves and tried to talk them out of killing the family. My guess is she was worried she would be seen as a traitor when the soldiers lost.
I always loved the fact that this movie featured a squad of highly trained, well armed, professional soldiers and they still got the crap beaten out of them. Usually it's just a bunch of scared teenagers making obvious mistakes in running for their lives.
I was working 3rd shift, and wanted to bring a movie in to watch at work, checked the video rental section of the service station after getting gas and rented this VHS on a whim. It didn’t disappoint. Such a great original werewolf movie. The YT channel GoodBadFlick did a real good video covering the making of this movie. It’s interesting and worth watching. Great reaction as always Kat.
My number two werewolf movie right after The Howling (1981). The actors were just born for those kind of characters. Great cast. And very talented cinematography. Loved it as well, that the werewolf POV shots were black and white since canines don't see that well other than felines.
Thank you for watching this movie! I am really happy you liked it that much. :D It is one of the best Werewolf movies out there, but also a lesser known one. I bought the DVD back in the day on a whim without knowing anything about it, but I fell in love with it immediately.
This is my favorite werewolf movie. Sean Pertwee is seriously underrated - he also played Smith in Event Horizon. Another werewolf movie I recommend, despite its complete hokiness which makes it more comedic than scary, in my opinion, is Bad Moon. It holds a special place in my heart because of a prank that my mom pulled on me and my sister when we were young in which she had a really tall friend wear a mask that was very similar to the werewolf in the movie and had him creep around her trailer scratching at the walls and pretending to grab our childhood friend, Ethan's, mom when she went to check that the back door of the trailer was latched. He let out quite a string of expletives when that happened. We were all terrified. The "werewolf/Dogman" then stood outside the window directly behind the couch until I saw him out of the corner of my eye and flinched. My sister saw I was staring at something, turned to see what appeared to be the very same face we had just seen in the movie then she screamed and cried. My mom even had the local radio station play into it by emphasizing the Michigan legend of Dogman before her friend put on his performance. She was such a prankster and I miss her dearly.
Wolf is a good one. James Spader is another actor who doesn't receive enough love for his brilliance. I haven't seen Ginger Snaps. I'll have to look into that one.
@@Crite_Wrangler Ginger Snaps really reframes lycanthropy in an interesting way. Definitely worth a watch. And yes, James Spader is an excellent actor who should be more beloved.
The film is full of references to football, and Cooper's last line is almost directly lifted from Kenneth Wolstenholme's commentary of the 1966 World Cup final. It's the final seconds of the match, England are 3:2 up against West Germany, and the crowd begins to spill over from the terrace: "Some people are on the pitch, they think it's all over!" then, as Geoff Hurst puts away his 3rd goal of the game; "It is now! It's four!"
Oh wow what a good movie choice! I haven't seen Dog Soldiers in years, and nobody seems to know what I'm talking about when I bring it up. Looking forward to this one :D
Dog Soldiers has some decent effects, a solid cast, and is on the whole a lot of fun. I again recommend Bad Moon. Highly underrated 90s werewolf movie, based on a book.
Bad Moon terrified me as a kid. Woke up to a full moon outside my window, and just knew I was going to see the silhouette of a werewolf stalking past it. I trembled in fear until I passed back out. Good times, man. Good times.
I hope you watch The Howling next, Kat! It came out the same year as An American Werewolf in London and is considered one of the greatest werewolf movies of all time. 😊
Also, the actor who plays the Sergent is also in Howl. Megan turned to a werewolf because she cut her hand on glass with wolf blood on it got into her bloodstream.

@@vinniedixon1140 they're big and floofy and bark, they're dogs.
In fact they're better than dogs because most of the time they clean up after themselves and feed themselves and don't shed anywhere near as much
@@crwydrynywerewolves don't bark. They're not dogs, they're lycans
@@rosita3528 But they're dogs, though.
They didn't keep something silver in the house. That little silver knife was the gift from the beginning of the movie. -OG
Yes!!!! New sub here. Awesome you're channel is for horror only. Super stoked. A great first watch of your reactions with many more to go!!
"GET THE SPAGHETTI BACK IN THE BOWL" 😂 hahaha That was pure gold Kat 👍 😆
13:41: I love the subtle scratching behind her ear.
I wish more people reacted to this movie
Yes!
Word!
Thank you so much for reacting to this film. My late cousin Tom Lockyer is in this film, he plays Bruce, the soldier with the radio who was impaled on the tree branch early on. I love that he was in this incredible, brilliant film. A great legacy for him. It’s just SO good❤️
He did a first rate job in this film. Such a great cast. I remember him as Jacob in Ultraviolet. He was great in that too. 👍
This is legitimately one of my top 5 all time favourite movies. So glad you watched this one.
From the guy who brought you The Descent! Great choice and the best reaction channel on youtube! 😊
Your reaction was a delight to watch. Incredibly expressive face combined with intelligent, insightful analysis, delivered with charm. Nicely done!
Put the spaghetti back in the bowl...lol.🍝🤣
The "squad leader" is Liam Cunningham. He's also in a film called Let Us Prey. Definitely worth a watch or ten.
Another awesome reaction Kat. I don’t think I will ever look at spaghetti the same way again! ‘Put the spaghetti back in the bowl” 🤣
Just saw this for the first time during Halloween and thought it's one of the best werewolf movie I ever seen. Just fantastic!
"Fetch!" Best line in a werewolf movie ever.
"I hope nothing bad happens to any of them"
I'm sure they'll be fine.
I always loved the fact that this movie featured a squad of highly trained, well armed, professional soldiers and they still got the crap beaten out of them.
Usually it's just a bunch of scared teenagers making obvious mistakes in running for their lives.
You should absolutely watch Stephen King's Silver Bullet. It's a movie where Gary Busey is the voice of reason.
That's a sentence that you don't see every day.
Lmao facts
Favorite werewolf movie. Yes, even more than American werewolf in London.
The banter in this is just *chefs kiss*
I was working 3rd shift, and wanted to bring a movie in to watch at work, checked the video rental section of the service station after getting gas and rented this VHS on a whim. It didn’t disappoint. Such a great original werewolf movie. The YT channel GoodBadFlick did a real good video covering the making of this movie. It’s interesting and worth watching. Great reaction as always Kat.
This is such a great movie! I don’t know why more people haven’t seen it, your amazing by the way love your energy for the work
My number two werewolf movie right after The Howling (1981). The actors were just born for those kind of characters. Great cast. And very talented cinematography. Loved it as well, that the werewolf POV shots were black and white since canines don't see that well other than felines.
Thank you for watching this movie!
I am really happy you liked it that much. :D
It is one of the best Werewolf movies out there, but also a lesser known one.
I bought the DVD back in the day on a whim without knowing anything about it, but I fell in love with it immediately.
I bought it on DVD back in the day as well. There came a time where I had to skim my collection and I made sure to keep it and still have it. Classic!
This is one of my favourite werewolf movies, at the top with American Werewolf in London. Just amazing!
I don't know if you're a Doctor Who fan, but the actor who plays the Sgt is Sean Pertwee, the son of Third Doctor actor John Pertwee.
This is such a fun and well-made movie, I'm glad you liked it too! I always enjoy with your comments and reactions, have a nice week Kat!
I also enjoyed Wolf (with Nicholson, Spader and Pfeiffer) and Ginger Snaps.
Wolf is a good one. James Spader is another actor who doesn't receive enough love for his brilliance. I haven't seen Ginger Snaps. I'll have to look into that one.
Love Bad Moon. Wildly underrated, but it's great for such a small cast.
@@Crite_Wrangler Ginger Snaps really reframes lycanthropy in an interesting way. Definitely worth a watch. And yes, James Spader is an excellent actor who should be more beloved.
Omg yaaaassss.. Kat finally did it and delved into this absolute classic. Nice one, Kat! This movoe is one of my guilty pleasures 😂
I love this film. Possibly the best British horror film for years. I hope you can watch more British horror films in the future 😊.
Hi Kat, I enjoyed your reactions to Dog Soldiers, especially the Squaddies banter. I forgot how much I loved this movie!
Dog Soldiers has some decent effects, a solid cast, and is on the whole a lot of fun.
I again recommend Bad Moon. Highly underrated 90s werewolf movie, based on a book.
Bad Moon is great
Steven Kings Silver Bullet is good too
@@shanelogan630 For sure. Kat would love it. RIP to Haim.
Bad Moon terrified me as a kid. Woke up to a full moon outside my window, and just knew I was going to see the silhouette of a werewolf stalking past it. I trembled in fear until I passed back out. Good times, man. Good times.
34:52 This is the equivalent to an Englishman quoting Braveheart
I hope you watch The Howling next, Kat! It came out the same year as An American Werewolf in London and is considered one of the greatest werewolf movies of all time. 😊
Also, the actor who plays the Sergent is also in Howl. Megan turned to a werewolf because she cut her hand on glass with wolf blood on it got into her bloodstream.
Sure. I would love that!
I love this movie. Ser Davos looks so young. Also, Sean Pertwee is the son of Jon Pertwee, the third Doctor in Doctor Who.
Im glad i found that channel. Youre fun😂
Best time of the week!! ❤
