Sadly here in Dallas. My beloved South Korean shop owner got cancer went back to South Korea and passed away. That was 4 years ago and I still miss her. She would brighten my day.
We should all decline donations if we're able to make ends meet ourselves when in a crisis, but with something as serious as medical treatment for a patient who's in a coma and may need extended stays in hospital... in the US that is impossibly expensive, it can bankrupt even the most hardworking independent people - then there shouldn't be any shame in accepting the help of a community that so clearly loves them and genuinely want to help. Glad to see they could overcome this painful chapter with just their earnings from their shop but we shouldn't be quick to judge those who may need donations to overcome their challenges. This coming from someone who thankfully gets medical treatment for free, I'm constantly in shock whenever I read about young people dying because they can't afford medication for their medical conditions and they try to get by on lower doses, families ending up homeless because a child got cancer and it bankrupt them... that's a devastatingly sad reality.
No, They went to America to have the opportunity to work hard and then reap the benefits. They didn't go there just to get what they could get. In among all the immigrants there are those who just want a chance. Give them that change America!
@@Truth72500 omg so *deep.* I don’t tell the homeless to get lost, but I will tell you to get lost or least get rid of that random negativity in a positive video.
Some of the best service I ever had in my life was people who owned shops or businesses and they were Asian. If you could speak their language they were even more impressed with you even if you weren't fluent I
Stella’s health recovery is the real miracle in this story . . . BUT the love shown for this lovely couple by the many, many generous & caring souls is the true blessing for all of us to witness❣️
He doesn't want any money (HANDOUTS) from the customers. That's deep. It shows that he is truly a hardworking & a humble human being. I hope their business gets better!!!
I remember this story and the outpouring of love and support for this couple and their business. It’s so wonderful to see an update on Mrs. Chan’s recovery!
LynRuiz I agree but I didn’t mention any of them though... so don’t try to take away from what I said by adding in the other cultures... (like a Black Lives Matter “No, ALL lives matter” type approach you took there)
T H I can and I will mention it. I am an Asian native , I’m not going to pretend that “all lives matter”. This story isn’t about Asian superiority, but about community coming together to support this wonderful couple in their journey and the wife’s fight for life. My husband was one of the customers who bought 2 dozen after calling me and telling me the situation. I cried and admired the husband-because he’s an honorable man. Not sure why “hard working Asian” even matters in this story. This happens to be a Love ❤️ story with an Asian hard working couple. My Beautiful mother just died of a brain aneurysm at 57 a few months ago and she was also a “hard working” Asian.
They are and the owner is so polite. I didnt know about them being on RUclips. Til one day I ran into a video and I was confused cause the donut shop looked familiar. And then it clicked.
@@clare2002 Not necessarily, some people prefer to live a simple life and provide for themselves. Businesses often need perseverance to thrive, however you can always have perseverance without a business.
@@lStranger OK so how do you provide for your family? You have to produce, sell something from a business. This is 3rd grade economics....you know that....
@@clare2002 You don't need to produce, sell, own, or work for a business in order to survive. Many people in urbanized societies have become overly dependent on businesses, and are less self-sufficient as a result. I'm not saying that businesses aren't a great asset to people, however people can survive just fine without them if they choose to do so. There are people who choose to live independently and away from society, it just works for them. On another note, economics is the study of scarcity and human behavior towards limited resources. What kind of 3'd grade classroom teaches that? I digress, the point is that the community in the video has a strong social cohesion.
I know America has dozens of problems and we are no where near perfect at all but its moments like this that make me so damn proud to be American. It warms my heart to see how much their community truly care & support them.
This story made me cry uncontrollably... I don’t know why. Just the kindness of people touched me so very much ... kindness and a hole lotta donuts did it for me. God bless to all
Thank you CBS for the updated story. This is a Great story not only of the community coming together to show support for a proud businessman. But it's also a Great story about the Social Media spreading the news online about supporting this loving husband. He looks so Happy to have Stella back by his side too. I'm glad she's back n has recovered to.
Hardworking, honest individuals, not expecting a hand out from other people or the government. My hats off to this couple, their community loves them. May they stay happy and healthy
Very nice to support a small business. My husband, his family, and I go to this mom and pop Chinese food restaurant for years. They always make us smile and know we always want boba and we always give tip. They are our family too. 😊
Amazing Donut 🍩 Shop with lots of yummy donuts. A team of husband and wife. Thank goodness for all the love and support they had after Stella recovered from her illness. The community and other generous people bought dozens of donuts so early afternoon he can spend his time with his wonderful wife. 😇😍
God bless those people who helped and showed compassion to this couple..it's hard for an asian to live in a foreign country, there is always discrimination..however, in this part of the world people are so kind...if only people in all parts of the world are like them, it would definitely be a happy world we live in..
I never stopped thinking about the original story and always wondered if his wife got better. Im happy for this update!
