S&W has a cult like following with the M&P15 Sport II. It definitely punches well above its weight class. Bang for the buck... you cant get a better rifle/carbine.
I just looked at this rifle this past weekend, planning on buying one soon. Thanks for posting this, very good info on what can be done to enhance this rifle!
I'm shocked that by coincidence, my build is almost identical. I like the Stngr rail setup. Just picked up the Battery Assist Device from magpul- it is a small lever that bolts onto the charger release tab and places a lever by the trigger guard- great feature. Also, invest in good shooting gloves.
I just ordered mine! This is my first pew pew purchase. My buddy let me shoot his last weekend, first time shooting an AR, it was amazingly easy to shoot and fun. I’ve fired 12gauge shotguns, 22 rifles but that’s about it. Looking forward to doing some long range shooting with it. And when I say long range I mean like 200 yards max probably. What was the model of sights? Good video!
Folks, like this Man said. A 223 is a 223, a 5.56 is a 5.56, period. Whether you pay $1000 or $3000 for your Rifle, the Stopping Power, the ability to protect yourself and those you love is exactly the same. To identify any AR15 as a Beginner's Rifle is just a bunch of nonsense. If you spent $3000 on your [first] AR15, that is your Beginner's Rifle. I picked up a sport II with the red dot, $799 new, man the rices are going up. But I’m not impressed with the butt stock, I need a bit more cushion with a bad shoulder, and I find it very light, your description was on, it’s light, but barrel heavy, the front grip would be a nice add on to hold that barrel on target eliminate some of the barrel drop. I see no issue with the factory sight, I like it a lot. I use dots on every thing and that’s been my favorite so far. The plastic handrail I don’t like either so that’s a very nice upgrade. Just some of my nit picking, but even left stock it’s a well made product good price point. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. I hope I never have to use it for anything but sporting. Yours is looking fierce!
Damn $799? Jeez in 2018 I got mine with another mag for $550. Changed it a lot too(installed the same STNGR HWK handguard as the guy in the video) and threw on some Daniel defense fixed irons with other magpul accessories.
@@GK-mr9ko yes it’s crazy how much prices have went up. And that was a pretty good deal with sights and all. In comes the popularity of cheap imports. Even used prices are getting stupid. At least ammo is starting to make a come back.
I video of a gunsmith showing the proper ways to install a low profile gas block. He added a dimple so there are two dimples holding the gas block plus added a dimple pin. He cut into the barrel a little bit so the pen could be put in, but very well secure that’s how I’m gonna have mine done but awesome. I have been frustrated Guards and guards and now I see the one I want that’s awesome. Beautiful. We recently bought one and I’ll be honest, when I started reading “starter AR” and “budget AR” I started to regret my decision. However I continued researching and found out there’s nothing to regret. It’s a quality, reliable rifle that performs great and is easily customizable. I’m very happy with it. I hope to have it looking like yours.
It's a fine rifle, don't spend your money for a free-float handguard, those are cool but your A2 front sight is just fine. Invest in a good optic, if you are looking for a good budget one SIG and Holosun make amazing and affordable red dots. If the stock, the handguard and the hand grip is too old school for you, I recommend you to switch for a Magpul MOE stock or CTR (this one had a lock to cancel any parasite move from the stock). A good cheap light and M-Lok hanguard: Magpul SL handguard carabin length. And for the hand grip, a Magpul K2 or K2+ ( Those have a more vertical profile, the K2+ has a nice rubber grip, BCM does similar grips for the same price). Those are small upgrades but let me tell you, they will be way less expensive than the price of a free-float handguard and a new gasblock. If the white marking annoys you, buy an Birchwood Casey Aluminum Blak. Apply it on the marking with a Q-tip from which you would have removed the cotton. This is a solvent made for weapon that will darken the white marking. Try to do that outdoor since it's a chemical. Stay safe, train and have fun !
The rifle looks great. I just ordered the same exact rifle (minus the red dot) and am planning on doing some similar upgrades to mine. How do you go about removing the front sight? I wanna get a handrail like yours and add the flip up sights but idk what is involved in removing the front sight. Is that something you were able to do yourself or did you have to bring it to a gunsmith?
