I have this rifle and I changed out the stock, handguard and the handgrip at nominal fee (from Magpul). Also added Bravo company vertical foregrip and threw on Holosun red dot and a sling and I couldn't be any happier. It looks badass and shoots super accurate. So happy with this rifle.

Great rifle! I love mine. No problem with the barrel. Good accuracy. I love that they kept the bayonet lug (if for no other reason than to piss off the Coasts.) I believe S&W went with the cheap, unlined plastic handguards because most owners replace it first thing with Mlock, keymod or quadrail handguards. That being the case, they're saving money (and saving the customer money) with the plastic handguards (which will be replaced anyway.)

I'm finding these videos very informative, I happened upon this M & P 15 by chance when I clicked on an e mail of a weekly news update from the Good Patriot website, and was looking through some of the firearms that I seen, and I've always been drawn to the AR's platform and had often thought about owning one when this particular time I noticed the price tag was under $900 I knew that was a good deal as I'd been checking them for a few years, so I figured I'd buy myself one Christmas gift this year. Now I'm waiting on my 3 day waiting period/back ground check and I take my Concealed Weapons permit class December 19th

Being a bigger person, I made some comfort upgrades to mine.
1- A Magpul MOE SL hand Guard (Carbine Length), The extra length allows me to hold it a little farther out. It gives me more control.
2- A Magpul MOE+ Pistol Grip, It rubberized, overmolded with a beaver tail. it fills out my hand better and you get a better grip than the stock one IMO.
3- A Magpul MOE SL-K stock, It's slightly smaller and curved on the bottom which lets it fit into my shoulder better, plus the rubber butt pad makes it grip on the shoulder better.

I take issue with solely relying on the barrel snake. Run it through 15 or 20 times then put some copper solvent through it and you'll see that the snake misses a little bit. That copper fouling builds up and will make you think the barrel is shot out after a while. Never forget, every now and again your barrel needs a little good ole fashioned Marine Corps recruit style bore punch love!!

Love your videos (subbed off of this series). I have one of these rifles, and absolutely love it-- More importantly, I have *confidence* in it after putting it through it's paces at the range!
That said, after a close & aggressive "1st inspection,'' I discovered the trigger pin holes were slightly out of spec, which allowed the trigger group to become ''out of position,'' and thusly jam the rifle. It's a common problem with ''entry ARs,'" apparently, so *CHECK YOUR TRIGGER PINS!* After an easy installation of a $15 set of 'anti-walk' pins, my rifle is a *badass* on the range!

Got mine last week, but it didn't come with the iron sights. Being a new AR owner, what are the iron sights this one came with? Also, I've been doing a lot of research and am uncertain as to which red dot optic to get. I'm leaning towards the Sig Sauer Romeo5, but I'm liking some by Holosun as well. Granted, Eotech optics would be ideal, but I can't justify that cost right now. Great video, thanks!

If you want this rifle to be extremely accurate, do you need to free float it, adjustable trigger screw and a trigger job. I bought my rifle about five months ago end it was shooting OK but nowhere near where I wanted it to be. After free-floating it and working on the trigger I can cover a three shot group at 150 yards with a quarter. When I first got the rifle I was kind of disappointed because I wanted it extremely accurate for long shots cause I do coyote hunting, but now it’s a striper no joke.

  • @JESSEPAVON

You can leave this trigger so nice if you work one it, i installed an adjustable screw and cut the spring and polished the trigger, now it’s awesome.

What are your thoughts on this rifle vs. the Radical Firearms RF-15 SOCOM? I found one for about $175 cheaper than the Sport II. Both have the MLOK hand guards, but the M&P that I found comes with the Crimson Trace red dot. I figure for the money saved, I could get a nicer optic on the RF-15.

@@youknow1334 I bought mine on election day. Paid $750. My LGS had just gotten 2 in earlier that day. 1st AR's I've seen for sale in awhile. I went to buy another SW J frame- and came home with a much larger Smith! Lol. I've been wanting an AR for awhile. I knew $750 was more than these had been going for. But I had the $ and was glad to get it for that. I'd have bought both of them if I'd of had the $. They also had 6000 rounds of IMI 556. FMJ and green tip. $11 a box of 20. I picked up 300 rounds. I was in an Army Field Artillery unit back in the 80's. We had the old M-16A1's. So I'm very familiar with this platform. I've owned many guns over the years, but never an AR. I went through an AK phase back in early 2000. I had several of the Romainian and China made ones. They were $250 then- brand New! Both the AK and AR's are decent guns. I do personally favor the AR after using both.
