Chicago's Best Track
Every song with Terry Kath is their greatest tracks...
Ball Stretcher
If your a Chicago city kid...for sure...
It was one of the first songs I heard on the radio back in the day that made me say “whoa, I love this band.” It was their only hit on this album. But I liked the album anyway because it rocked more than their previous.
i wanna hear peter cetera sing "ball stretcher"
At 52, having grown up in the 70s and 80s, this song brings back so many memories and the nostalgia of my youth.
It saddens me that my children and their children will never know how amazing America used to be.
Still is fun. Ur just old..
I've heard kids be nostalgic about the early 2000s . When ur young and no responsibilities. It will always be the best time to be alive. No matter what era that may be
Such grimacing!
This song was nostalgic for even older days! Always something wistful about Chicago.
I'm 41 and I adore Chicago.
I am 80 and that is true.
Peter Cetera's voice really made Chicago.
It's October 2022 and there's not a band today with 10 % of the talent in this video.
This band was never the same when they lost the distinctive guitar riffs of Terry Kath. RIP
Facts! Just amazing talent. Kath was an incredible guitarist and singer and writer as well.
Kath must have been rolling in his grave after what this band turned into in the 80s.
@@chrisb9577 he was already rolling during the 70s. He was really against the idea of just playing their hits and commercial music
Terry, Danny & Peter: one of most underrated rhythm sections in Rock 'n' Roll.
Be still my heart!
Absolutely totally agree with you ☺️ 🥁🦋🙏🕉️
@@RockChick And Danny's still got it!

ive been listening with my wife erika nagai
I have tears in my eyes recalling memories from those days. Bittersweet as I sit here as a 70 year old grandma hoping my grands can have such wonderful memories in their future.
Getting old sucks big time
@@jackieguccione94 Not getting old sucks even more.
@@dantheman3059 yes i guess because your not HERE
Well said and I agree 100%.
They even harmonize while playing. This is real musicianship
Wish i could turn back the hands of time go back to the Old Days.
The 70's lineup of this band was fantastic! Great musicians, great songwriting, great arrangements, great vocals. I feel so blessed to have grown up in that era and heard all these classics on the radio when they were originally released.
No weaknesses in this band. What a lineup top to bottom!
you know you are loaded with talent when your trombone player can write one hit song after another... everyone a master player, world class guitarist and drummer, and 3 incredible lead singers... they were overflowing with talent
@@rrdream2400U mean James Pankow penning “Just you and me” about his wife! The guy could visualize and arrange the deck of titanic so it wouldn’t sink!
Old Days and I miss you Mom and Dad.
These were my personal "Good old days"...the 1970s...wish I could go back in time!
Funny that during the 70s my parents were hating the music and tough times, they wanted to go back to the 50s ,kids now want to go back to the 90s and early 2000s
I wish I could go back too!
Did they have B A L L S T R E C H E R S back then?
I was born in the 80s, but prefer the 60/70s (for movies, too)
I’m so with you with you on this one!! It was a great era for sure!
Peter's voice was phenomenal!
Sure was/still is!
Not peter it was Terry
No Peter sang the lead here@@alzwicky156
@@alzwicky156Peter was the man. He takes nothing away from Terry.
@@alzwicky156Peter sings lead idiot
Incredible melodies, Terry Kath, still alive, Pete Cetera and Danny Seraphine's amazing drumming!!! What an eternal classic!
this is Chicago's finest song IMO. The drumming is out of this world, but great musicianship all around. I remember reading that Peter at first didn't like this song as some of the lyrics were cringe ("Howdy Doody..."). But I think it is a great sentiment - looking back on good times gone past. I was 15 in 1974... would love to go back there for just a few days.
This song takes me back. My friends Charlie, Beth, and Trent would go parachuting to this song. Sometimes it was mild discomfort, other times we'd be in excruciating pain. But it left me a lot more humbler
Aww... Terry and Danny amazing... Peter cetera wow... Absolutely Brilliant
Whole thing is brilliant

Often imitated, never replaced or forgotten. One of THE BEST bands of all time; when music was MUSIC.............
Danny seraphine really adds those drumming skills to this song all these musicians in this band are absolutely pure gold!!!!!!!!!
He ripped the snare for a measure at 2:48 to give the horns time to get to their mics
@@jimcameron251100:01:38 is so future generations would know it was record on location. ✔
@@jimcameron2511 yeah that was pretty cool, this band was so so good.
Old days the best days!❤️🎸
Really demonstrates how much of an ensemble was necessary for their trademark sound.
I love the horn section. I hear the horns in so many of their songs.
Terry and Peter and the rest of the gang …truly “ Old Days “ 😢
True talent. They don’t make them like these guys anymore
What a band!! Geezuz!! Cetera kicking into high gear at the end! Wow! All live!! No backing tracks... no auto tune !!
This is where Kath will rest in my life.
Such talent ❤️
Mine too- this is the place in my mind Terry Kath will remain for all eternity
We miss the Old Days of Chicago especially Terry Kath RIP
There will NEVER be another Chicago! They broke the mold on talent!
ummmm I get you but Leonid and Friends do an amazing version!!
So did deep purple jimi hendrix zeppelin Floyd vh the list goes on

@@Caladesi143 no disrespect to them but beyond the amazing songwriting and playing in Chicago, they had 3 world class singers, each overflowing with unique character, all 3 in the same band... that's where the tributes don't come close.

This was a very sophisticated band even for today, let alone a half century ago.
Danny just blows me away with the drums ❤️❤️
This song was played at my high school graduation along with a photo montage of the graduating class.
The kids today are never going to know how good we had it back in the "Old Days."
Damn that boy could sing
And listen to his bass! Cetera was so good! Just a great group of musicians -- all very, very good.
The horn players doing backup vocal on this is awesome!
any dedicated CBT fans here?

Right up there with the Beatles , Pink Floyd .. one of the best Bands ever .
And Doobie Bros. And Moody Blues for total number of mega hits over a long stretch. And Jefferson Airplane/Starship.
No.....much better than the Beatles, Pink Floyd, etc!!
The Beatles are the Best ,,, chicago is very very good no doubt but their music never drifted like The Beatles
This is a great gem. Real music with real musicians.
Among the greatest musicians ever. The same may be said of the horn section.
My oh my - that trombone !!!
I love the horns you hear in so many of their songs.
There will never be such an amazing group of musicians & songs as these early years of Chicago. Thankful we have these videos
Totally agree! Nothing today compares to this level of talent!
The drummer spazzed on the track!! 🔥🔥
I was 14 when they did this that’s how long I’ve been listening to the best band ever !!!!!
Chicago’s Best Track
A rarity to see them do Old Days live as Peter did not like the song.
All kinds of talent in that band.
The switching of his voice in the last closing parts is fun to watch.
Love watching this... Brilliant performance... Gorgeous song...feeling nostalgic 😍🎤🎶💕👍
Oh my God those were the best days of my youth! The best music, friends and times! It's a world gone away like he said. 😢
Gee I remember when this song was released and I think I saw this performance on TV back in 1974. Yup I feel old. Almost 50 years ago.
This is hands down the best version of this song. Can't find it anywhere only here!
A very nice song, it is nice to remember our childhood hearing this song, sung with so much feeling.
I was a 2 yrs older back then.. 50 now and still love Chicago
My first 8-track was Chicago
I love Cetera on the bass! And of course, that amazing voice!
Love the instrumental section after the second bridge that they don’t have in the studio version. The drum breakdown at the end of that part is 🤌🏼
Yeah, Danny is mesmerizing there!
We Always love to Remember the Good Old Days Those Were Good Times!. The FUN Times Everyone has Had even All the Good Things Everyone Used to do That's a Great Past. We Will Never Forget those Good Times and those Good Old Days We Miss those Good Old Days yeah! 🥲 Good Chicago Song! 👍 🙂
I love Chicago Band Tunes
I was 10 years old in 1970...amazing music
Peter how could you?! I missed this as I was overseas. Losing Terry was devastating and then PC was hard to take.
I was overseas on Okinawa with the United States Marine Corps when this aired back in the States. New Year's 1974-1975. All I remember about that night, got drunk, went crazy and woke up New Years Day around 6pm. I was told I was dancing at every bar we went to. I very seldom danced at all. Needless to say, "That was the last time I ever got drunk" Semper Fi from an old Marine Sergeant.

@@j.w.matney8390 in my opinion, heck yea
The best Chicago horn mix I've ever heard (clams notwithstanding), and it's on a tv show!
Great tune that reminds me of better times!!
Danny and that jet black Slingerland set ... WOW ! He was one of my inspirations to become a better drummer in the early 70's.
Simply-the BEST band that ever was..... and THEN some!
Greatest American group of all time
I remember hearing this song for the first time on a Canadian Broadcast Translator. I totally fell in love with this music. Man, I really wish I could have been around earlier to see some of the first of Chicago's Band Tours.
Look at all those happy folks dancing and enjoying life in the middle of the 70s before the internet, which introduced another generation to this track in a totally different context 😂😂😂😂
You can draw a line in history before and after the internet. The year 1975 was very different than today.
P A R A C H U T E
The current generation has been introduced to Chicago's Best Tunes thanks to this song, and they are all humbled by it!
Three lead singers in one band….talent to spare!!!!!!
True. . . However, Cetera sang 60+% of their hits, & IMHO is and always will be the most recognizable voice of CHICAGO. . .
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a psycho-social intervention[1][2] that aims to reduce symptoms of various mental health conditions, primarily depression and anxiety disorders .[3] CBT focuses on challenging and changing cognitive distortions (e.g. thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes) and behaviors, improving emotional regulation,[2][4] and the development of personal coping strategies that target solving current problems. Though it was originally designed to treat depression, its uses have been expanded to include the treatment of a number of mental health conditions, including anxiety,[5][6] alcohol and drug use problems, marital problems, and eating disorders.[7][8] CBT includes a number of cognitive or behavior psychotherapies that treat defined psychopathologies using evidence-based techniques and strategies.[9][10][11]
CBT is based on the combination of the basic principles from behavioral and cognitive psychology.[2] It is different from historical approaches to psychotherapy, such as the psychoanalytic approach where the therapist looks for the unconscious meaning behind the behaviors and then formulates a diagnosis. Instead, CBT is a "problem-focused" and "action-oriented" form of therapy, meaning it is used to treat specific problems related to a diagnosed mental disorder. The therapist's role is to assist the client in finding and practicing effective strategies to address the identified goals and alleviate symptoms of the disorder.[12] CBT is based on the belief that thought distortions and maladaptive behaviors play a role in the development and maintenance of many psychological disorders,[3] and that symptoms and associated distress can be reduced by teaching new information-processing skills and coping mechanisms.[1][12][13]
When compared to psychoactive medications, review studies have found CBT alone to be as effective for treating less severe forms of depression,[14] anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), tics,[15] substance use disorders, eating disorders and borderline personality disorder.[16] Some research suggests that CBT is most effective when combined with medication for treating mental disorders such as major depressive disorder.[17] In addition, CBT is recommended as the first line of treatment for the majority of psychological disorders in children and adolescents, including aggression and conduct disorder.[1][4] Researchers have found that other bona fide therapeutic interventions were equally effective for treating certain conditions in adults.[18][19] Along with interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT), CBT is recommended in treatment guidelines as a psychosocial treatment of choice.[1][20]
This was the ‘look’ I remember. Great band and the hair right where it should be, feathered back; nice tuxedos too.👏👍😄

Wow what a blast of nostalgia. I loved this song back in the day but haven't heard it in decades. All the more powerful in that the song itself is about nostalgia. Loved this group in the 70s.
Total guilty pleasure of mine- I hope none of my friends find out that I love this song! 😉

Its creator and namesake was the entertainer Dick Clark, who conceived New Year's Rockin' Eve as a younger-skewing competitor to Guy Lombardo's popular and long-running New Year's Eve big band broadcasts on CBS. The first two editions, in 1973 and 1974, were hosted by Three Dog Night and George Carlin, respectively, featured Dick Clark assuming the role of Times Square reporter, and were broadcast by NBC. In 1974-75, the program moved to its current home of ABC, and Clark assumed the role of host.
Following the death of Guy Lombardo and the decline of CBS's specials, New Year's Rockin' Eve grew in popularity and became ingrained in pop culture-even prompting Clark himself to make appearances on other programs in parody of his role. To this day, New Year's Rockin' Eve has consistently remained the highest-rated New Year's Eve special broadcast by the United States' major television networks;
