Sharon you are right. With all the original members is the key. I loved the original Chicago but now it's sad that they are just like any other tribute band. I think Lenoid & friends have the energy of the original band in the 70"s!

I liked Chicago a lot back then but was never into them as much as I was into some other bands. I didn’t know the individuals in the band nor their names. It was much later, in the late 1990’s/early 2000s, when I became a big fan of the then solo vocalist Peter “Mr. Romance” Cetera, that I discovered that he’d been a primary voice in the band Chicago. Now, in 2021, at age 62, I find that the older I get the more I appreciate the classic songs of the 1970’s Chicago band and am enjoying their music more than I ever did. Chicago in their heyday produced some worldclass TIMELESS music!

The group lost the blues soul without Kath & the Tenor without Cetera & IMO Lamm doesn't fit either build (like Todd Rundren singing lead for the Cars (NOT - EW EW EW & I like Todd not as Cars frontman) this a few years back since Ben died 2000 & Rick left - who's now back)
There's a better possibility that Kath would play with Chicago again than Cetera would. He's making a comfortable living as a solo balladeer without having to deal with other band members.
My FIRST favorite Chicago song! This video is with all the original members. They were the best! Amazingly, after all these years, four of the original members (James Pankow on trombone, Walter Parazaider on sax, Robert Lamm on keyboards and Lee Loughnane on trumpet) are still in the band.
Just amazing how well they played together. Cetera is fantastic here, but I suspect this is primarily a Pankow composition. No one nowadays is capable of producing such sound live on stage, this devotion to rehearing and performing died sometime in the late 70s. Also, I absolutely love how this video has been on RUclips for ever and it remains in discussion till now. Some Music is unforgettable and timeless!!

Amazing the harmonies live are just as good in this live performance as on the studio recording, in some places maybe even sweeter. Thats the sign of truly gifted musicians/singers.
Check out the "poster-perfect" 70's girl @ 2:00, also, D. Seraphine could sure pound those drums! And P. Cetera could do some "soul-singing", especially at the end of the song (not just ballad singing)...
Thanks for posting this great video of Chicago Back at the Ranch (Caribou). I vaguely remember seeing it on televison but whatever, they sound great, fantastic and really in my opinion, they really need to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, maybe one day when the so-called committee gets their act together and gives them their due!!! I went to Boulder for a work seminar, as soon as that was over I went straight to Nederland and saw it from an overlook, the whole spread... I felt Terry playing song of the evergreens, It was on the breeze. That will stay with me forever.
I was shocked to see this. I recall watching this TV show when it originally aired in '74! It was a great special of one of my favorite bands of my childhood. Thank you for posting this amazing piece of history.

They were all excellent musicians in this band, but Terry & Peter really added the surge and energy. Those two were so good together and the Chicago band lost two of their very best.
Now we have a very poor shadow of the original band. However, Leonid and friends, an excellent tribute band sound almost identical to the original recordings.
I sometimes wish I could go back when hearing this record but of course I cannot. Those were great times. The Vietnam war was over and there was peace. And we had predictable weather and knew what to expect. Great times.

Yes it was PURE RAW TALENT !! I got to see Chicago & The Doobie Brothers Together in concert in the early 70's . . In San Diego, Ca . . . Also Saw Chicago with Santana in early 70's . . .. GREAT Times !! ;-)

Thanks for posting this great video of Chicago Back at the Ranch (Caribou). I vaguely remember seeing it on televison but whatever, they sound great, fantastic and really in my opinion, they really need to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, maybe one day when the so-called committee gets their act together and gives them their due!!! And that is why Chicago was the greatest band in the world...any questions. Terry's guitar with the phaser is just awesome. And then they roll right into Mono just great. I went to Boulder for a work seminar, as soon as that was over I went straight to Nederland and saw it from an overlook, the whole spread... I felt Terry playing song of the evergreens, It was on the breeze. That will stay with me forever.

I was shocked to see this. I recall watching this TV show when it originally aired in '74! It was a great special of one of my favorite bands of my childhood. Thank you for posting this amazing piece of history.

They were all excellent musicians in this band, but Terry & Peter really added the surge and energy. Those two were so good together and the Chicago band lost two of their very best.
Now we have a very poor shadow of the original band.
However, Leonid and friends, an excellent tribute band sound almost identical to the original recordings.
Damn, now that's talent at its finest

I sometimes wish I could go back when hearing this record but of course I cannot. Those were great times. The Vietnam war was over and there was peace. And we had predictable weather and knew what to expect. Great times.
