    Thanks for your fair review of my car! It's fun to find a European review on this. Subscribed! I'm very happy with our XT5 in its function as our family everyday driving SUV. Our ATS is our fun-to-drive luxury sports sedan and we like that too.

    I dont know why, but the general shape of it reminds me of an Opel SUV.
    The interior tho is really nice.

    Hello Thomas,
    brilliant review, as usual. There's always a smile on my face, once I see there's a new Review from Autogefühl.
    Any chance of you guys reviewing the Facelift BMW 1 Series, or the Fiat Tipo HB ?
    I've already seen the Tipo Limousine Review from the other Thomas, but I'm still very interested in either one of those cars.
    Thank you very much for the great content!

    Nice review - I've seen many mostly positive reviews of this here in the states. I like the style and interior as well. I've been very curious how this would play in Europe.

    1. Be sure and set your RUclips comments to Newest First rather than Top Rated. That way you can avoid the Justin Douche troll (and all the flame wars and negativity that he brings). 2. Love how clean the interior looks, and the cream color really makes it pop. 3. That lack of headroom in back is inexcusable, will likely be a deal breaker for some who want to have taller [expletive in back.

  • @bobbyfarhang4599
    @bobbyfarhang4599 5 лет назад

    Hey tall man! If you think you don’t fit in the back seat, you need to adjust the rear seats to move it backward or forward. Platinum trim has this option, which I have not seen in Mercedes. And the mug holder on the consul has a knob on it that you need to press it first and pull it back. If you don’t know how to operate, don’t give a stupid comment.

    The 2017 Cadillac XT5 is a joy to drive. Two features I love is when the cruise is set the engine will shift down from 6 cyl to 4 cyl for better economy . Also the Platinum comes with the special rear view mirror that is a camera streaming a wider view ... I currently own a 2015 SRX and will trade in the fall for a 2018 XT5 platinum .

    • @derbigpr500
      @derbigpr500 7 лет назад +4

      That's because it's rubbish and way too expensive for what you get. They cost more than BMW's, Audi's and Mercedes in Europe but are nowhere near as good.

    • @InteriorDesignAnderson
      @InteriorDesignAnderson 7 лет назад +11

      derbigpr500 have you ever driven one? Have you ever sat in on? There more luxurious than Audi, better handling over Mercedes and are on the same level as BMW for quality. So yeah crap I guess

      As a guy who drives and test cars, both new and used (up to 4 yrs and 80,000 miles not kilometers) It is rare that I find a BMW or Mercedes Benz that has stood even this short test of time. They have engine problems that make absolutely no sense for a 4yr old car. Fuel Injectors, Oil Injectors, Crankshaft problems, Overheating and the Transmissions fail more than Fords.. And don't even get me started on the Alfa's, VW's, Jaguars and Land Rovers. (Notice I left out Audi who is the only Euro-brand to get their act together over the past 5yrs.) Sure these cars are as solid and over-engineered as they come. That being said it doesn't make them good cars.. A $100,000 car is an expensive driveway ornament if it doesn't start. Aesthetics be damned, I would gladly take a Cadillac CTS or even a Buick LaCross over an E-Class or a 5-Series because history has shown me that it will not start falling apart shortly after the warranty expires, usually about 47,000 miles with the European cars. Need 250,000 miles with minimum problems go Japanese or American.. Long term, Koreans still have long term proving to do..

    • @InteriorDesignAnderson
      @InteriorDesignAnderson 7 лет назад +1

      OceanBlue on average the Cadillac is slightly more expensive than say a BMW due to the European import tax

    Hallo, I like your reviews Thomas! About the car: I think it is looking good, with the right proportions at the exterior. The interior is really beautifull for my opinion, with clean design and luxurious feeling. I have set in this car and the ATS sedan, and i can say that at the ATS I was little disappointed in the interior from some buttons and the open/close selector of the air vents. This XT5
    however felt more high quality built with solid feeling and precise range of motion of the buttons.

    Cadilacs problem is the horrible platics used in the inside and ugly gauges. They are not at Audi level but ask the same price. When Thomas was adjusting the seats, all I could think was how horribly cheap even the seat adjuster buttons look. Either lower the price and offer the 2.0T engine or fix the interior.

      Q5 has a full plastic upper dash at least this is all leather covered

    • @derbigpr500
      @derbigpr500 7 лет назад +6

      The difference is, every single detail in the Q5 is as solid as a rock, Cadillacs feel like they're gonna fall apart after half a year, because in a showroom, all new Cadillacs rattle and every little part of the interior you press onto squeaks. Can't even come close to Audi's quality. Putting leather over a piece of thin hollow plastic skeleton of the dash doesn't make it higher quality than high quality soft touch plastics that is several cm's thick and sits on a cast aluminium frame to make it as solid as possible. This is exactly how Cadillac fools people, they use nice materials on the surface but underneath its the same typical Gm crap quality. Drive it for a few years and see how nice that dash feels. I know from personal experience Audi's are as tight after 300,000 km's and 8-9 years of use as they on the day they get out of the factory.

    • @JULIAN71102
      @JULIAN71102 7 лет назад +1

      Fexxe what are you talking about?? Audi makes the best interior quality in the industry, are for real comparing a cadillac to an audi?? i would even be insane if I choose a XT5 over the GLC i might even prefer the xc60 over it even though its old, American cars can't compete in the luxury segments against the european cars especially the germans

      Thank you for taking interest in this very important topic!
      First to the practical reasons:
      1. animal skin seats get hot in summer and you stick to the seat
      2. they are cold in winter
      3. on cloth or microfibre, you basically don’t need seat heating nor cooling
      4. animal skin seats wear out very fast and look like granny’s old sofa
      5. if you want leather look, the leatherette (faux leather) surfaces are meanwhile highly evolved and it is possible that it feels even softer and better than anything else (See our Tesla Model X review) So Tesla shows that the discussion wether you need animal skin is basically done.
      Still, now to the environmental reasons:
      1. There are many productions where the cow is killed for the skin first, sometimes even alive, the skin is the most profitable single part of the body.
      2. The way the cows are held are catastrophic (see videos below)
      3. Even if a cow gets killed for meat first, you give additional money to an industry that relies on murder, pollutes the environment and harms people with chemicals.
      4. Does it really matter for which cause a mammal, that is 99 % genetically identical with us, gets killed? Would you say a cow only got slaughtered for the meat in the leg and thus it got slaughtered for the meat in the neck anyway? That doesn’t make sense.
      5. So to the often said argument, animal skin would just be a byproduct, please google/youtube "leather is not a byproduct" you will find plenty of information. A good overview on all those issues can also be found here: adaptt.org/
      6. Let's say you are standing at the meat counter. And you ask for the leg of the cow. The butcher tells you: "You can eat that without worrying, the cow was slaughtered for the neck first". The next customer demands the neck. The butcher tells him: "It's not your fault, the cow was slaughtered for the belly". An the next customer demands the hide, what answer does he get? You see, that argument of "byproduct" comes from the meat and leather industry to cover that you contribute to killing no matter which part of the body you buy.
      Special videos:

    How do the europeans perceive Cadillac and Lexus as a brand?....do they consider it on par with the germans

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  7 лет назад

      hardly bought here. Main reason is a) the big fleets get good discount leasing for Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen b) Lexus and Cadillac hardly have any dealer presence c) Lexus and Cadillac are not really cheaper but from the look & feel the clearly worse than the Germans. Then it's hard to argue which advantages do you really have (naturally aspirated engines, maybe longer durability which then again doenst play a role for 2 or 3 year leasing contract) etc. You get the picture :)

    Surprisingly fine cars these Cadillacs. In terms of look not really my thing (which is personal), but all of the recent Cadillacs I've driven (I get them often as rent cars when I'm, in the US or Canada) in are simply on par with with what you get from Europe and Japan (Korea has only the Genesis).
    The problem with cars like this is the pricing. They tax it up the whazoo; here (the Netherlands) the car starts at € 92.900. I also took a look on the American website: Starts at $46.200 This excludes stuff like destination freight charge, tax, title, license, dealer fees, but this isn't that much.
    Then Germany (our neighbor country for people who don't know): Starting price is €48.800,-
    Got the prices from here:
    Dutch: www.cadillac.nl/vehicles/range/xt5-crossover/overview.html
    American: www.cadillac.com/crossovers-suvs/xt5-crossover/build-your-own.html#/trim
    German: www.cadillac.de/modelle/pkw/xt5-crossover/configurator.html
    Am I missing something, or are we really getting screwed this hard?

    I really hate the way Cadillac does interiors. it's just totally lacking in terms of aesthetics, just a bunch of parts that looks like they come from totally different cars thrown together in a tasteless way. And the quality (or lack of) is already typical for Cadillac now. Nicer materials, but much worse put together than Opels. Nowhere near Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, Lexus, etc.

  • @JuanGarcia-zq5tp

    Oh Cadillac, you are such a stubborn brand. I'm not saying that adding diesels to your engine choices in Europe will make you successful, but not doing so will put you in the same path as Chevrolet in Europe.

    Thomas it's called "Leather", a lot of consumers choose this option and have been doing so for over 100 years so referring to the material as "animal skin" and bringing up the material choice in a negative manner every time is really a rather annoying aspect of your generally good reviews

    • @azizbelkharmoudi2564
      @azizbelkharmoudi2564 7 лет назад +4

      It's not "Leather" and is not a material, my Friend it's a part of living beings Abused, Killed And slaughtered by the millions every year for Their Skins. There are many alternatives to leather, Killing Animals for food or others things is immoral I don't know how some people are so cruel to make animals suffer just to make a bag or shoes or cars interior and seats, this is why our world is fuck-up, barbaric and Inhuman.

      In terms of awareness, the byproducts of leather production are lethal. It's environmental destruction as shown in the documentary 2016 film, Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret. .. .The RED RUclips link: .. ruclips.net/video/MjIXJMGpT3k/видео.html .. . View the movie once (daughter's insisted) and you'll think twice about leather interior. The Mercedes time honored MB-Tex material is the way to go. Three Cheers to Thomas and Mercedes Benz !

Now, I do realize that you're not as familiar with U.S. products as you are with the European brands. Me being a former car salesman, product knowledge was drilled into my head. Maybe my OCD kicked in! Lol. As I said before I really enjoy your reviews and they are fairly unbiased. This "animal skin" routine is really becoming annoying. Don't push your political agenda on the viewers or they will walk away from your channel. Leather is absolutely NOT unsustainable as a matter of principle and generally speaking, as you try to pretend, and once again it is inappropriate to make philosophical/political statements in car reviews. A car in and of itself is a lot more "unsustainable" than leather seats, yet you make a living reviewing them and therefore enticing more and more people to buy them... Where's the rationale?

    • @autogefuehl
