I don't understand car reviewers. Why do they test all cars like they're testing a sports car. Is sportiness a must for SUV's? Shouldn't they focus more on comfort and smoothness more than sportiness when reviewing SUV's? It would be silly for buyers to look into SUV's when they are looking for a car to take to the drag race. I don't get it.
So right, And who died and dubbed Europeans as the best car makers; Here in the states we don't drive 110mph on our freeways all the time. Luxury is about comfort and feel, not a hard ass firm ride like BMW and MERC. Lexus is by far more in touch with Luxury than those guys are, Cadillac knows what are butts want.
I am a huge fan of those vertical style LED accents that cadillac is putting on their vehicles. Still cannot wait until you review the new CX-9. Great review like always!
I disagree...I love Caddys and the SRX finally received an upgrade that looks polished and says luxury. My favorite thing on the car is the video review mirrors. I'm shock that Tesla don't offer this on their vehicles.
I've been driving my moms xt5 this summer and I will say, it's a really good car, especially over her srx... i do think the awd is a must as it still has too much power for it's own good in fwd. The transmission helps give it a 20+ mpg city but it could downshift sooner and more often... cue is much better but android auto is great and the wonky shifter works, but I still prefer a traditional prndl/m. Build quality is Cadillac, some gm parts bin but it really is to the point where its competitive with others.
I am a Cadillac salesman and I am going to correct something, in the XT5 when in touring mode, it is only front wheel drive, it NEVER sends power to the rear wheels until you press the mode button and put it into all wheel drive mode or sport mode. Thank tou
Ok, I have a Q, why is it when I get my XT5 up to about 55-65 mph, why does it feel like it hesitates? I feel when I am pressing on the gas that it can't get out of it's own way, so to speak.😁 Almost as if something is blocking fuel from getting to where it needs to go to make the car increase speed.🤷🏼♀️ It has a stutter to it! Not a smooth increase in speed. Sorry for the laymen's terms but🤷🏼♀️oh well. I work on teeth not cars.😁
My wife and I conducted our own market survey of both foreign and domestic Premium Crossovers SUV's. We concluded that the Cadillac XT5 Platinum was clearly for us. We bought the Cadillac XT5 Platinum and we're amazingly satisfied.
I actually like the gear shift design assuming how it is once I get used to it. I feel it gives a nice deterrent to going directly from reverse to drive and vice versa when we don't intend to do that
Just bought a 2016 srx, and even prior to bias I think it looks way better. Its aggressive looking, but not overboard and it really had its own identity. This new vehicle brought it closer to every other crossover on the road.
Sofyan Bey's review is very reasonable in my opinion. Compared to what I learned from the Cadillac salesman was far less in 2+ hours than what Sofyan has related in this video in a fraction of the time. Many highly contrasted views expressed in many comments below but not so much in the way of constructive info, with a few exceptions. I just test drove a 2017 XT5 yesterday. I wanted an AWD with all the new safety amenities + comfort. The XT5 drove very well and I tend to drive fast and somewhat aggressively. The seats were comfortable & given my requirements for comfort this is a significant plus. I would have hoped that given the high pricing some features I wanted were lacking: window shades on all windows, more audible warning re safety features, heads up display (HUD), less touch screen and more "mouse-like" controls of the display, larger size display like the Genesis G80. But please note, gathering info on a particular car is related to what the salesman relates + what the customer gleans from inputs from the internet, etc. Maybe there is a HUD on the XT5 but the salesman did not relate that altho mentioned by me. Agree totally with Sofyan on points made re lack of road noise or windshield buffetting noise (latter is a major issue for me on the 3.6 Subaru Outback). Our salesman did not show us the rear view mirror & despite emphasizing the extended safety features did not have me test drive the Platinum package.
Cadillac is so close to being a tier 1 luxury brand. They've probably made the biggest strides over the last few years than any other automaker. If they add a halo sports car like an XLR successor, they will be a real player
The wife is wanting to buy a new crossover and we looked at several manufacturers offerings. Our neighbors have some BMW's and Benz's and a couple friends have Acura's and Lexus'. So, she has driven those models. The Caddy is new so, no one has this vehicle that we know. A trip to a local Caddy dealer was necessary. I have to tell you the wife was very very impressed with this crossover. She loves everything about it, the interior appointments and the exterior styling are all distinctive in her opinion. She will never touch the slider volume control so, this item that is seemingly so annoying to test drivers is not an issue. The steering wheel controls are all that will ever be used for that function. The model she test drove was an optioned out Luxury edition. This is in our opinion the sweet spot in the line up. The best bang for the buck option. So, she will get the Luxury edition next November for her birthday present. We as a rule never buy the first model year of any vehicle.
Received one as a courtesy vehicle for a day. The suspension is stiff for its class, there were rattles coming from the moonroof and door panels, the inside was louder compared to my cts. The vehicle only had less than 1000 miles on it.
Nice review! Never a mention of it's only domestic competitor....Lincoln MKX. Or am I wrong for thinking that Cadillac would also target a home turf rival?
If you squint, you'll have a hard time distinguishing this from an SRX"..I doubt it. From the side or the rear, maybe, but the front is pretty radically different
We bought this {2017} caddy xt5 in 2024… best vehicle we have ever owned. This car looks relevant and has every option you can imagine in premium luxury Great look great ride and great comfort. Get a Caddy if you can. American top of the line out there. We will replace this car with another Cadillac when necessary
@Sofyan As usual, excellent review! And as promised, the XT5 review from you was coming! Curious, what are your thoughts on the XT5 vs it's arch enemy,RX350? I found the XT5 to feel more premium, especially the interior. And that Lexus can't hope to match the driving experience over this Cadillac. I noticed that you brought up price. Yes, this Cadillac is pretty damn expensive! But against it's German competition, it's still cheaper, trim/options comparatively. The G3 nickel and dime you on everything! And you left out another expensive option: The Lincoln MKX w/ 2.7T. Yeah, the Lincoln does have more power, but test after test show it just .02-.04secs ahead of the far less powerful Caddy. And it too, offers a far less premium ambience, coming off with way too much Ford flair. I would skip the Platinum and go Premium.
We haven't had a chance to drive the latest Lexus RX, but from our time in the previous generation, this XT5 is superior. Once Lexus loans us the newest RX350, we'll be sure to let you know our thoughts between it and the Cadillac.
The lexus and cadillac's thing is to be a family car not your weekend car. Plus you can't compare it to reliability as lexus has reliability on top notch with its japanese engineering (Yes the RX is partial Canadian before you ask) although with cadillac..that belongs to gm which over the years they have improved but it can't be at the level of lexus. Hey its my opinion i don't care if you disagree it's your opinion i can't argue.
This Caddy is by far the most stylish and beautiful luxury SUV, has no competition. More bang for your buck and truly a gorgeous vehicle. Look out all you overrated, overpriced imports, Caddy is coming back Big Time!
The fact that the power seat buttons for the rear seats only has auto down and not up I would think is a safety concern, not cost-cutting. Why would they go so far as to have auto down but then not up?
I like it. Not many crossovers handle well. And it looks handsome to me. It makes less sense as you go up in the trim lines, however. A loaded one can't compete with its price-competition.
There, a Sofyan, that 390°pan was Soo smooth. You probably didn't read my last comment on you recent pans, but if you did, please be the professional that you are and video your 360° sweeps like you did this Cady. I didn't feel seat sick for a second.

Active Twin Clutch AWD witb torque vectoring is quite fun to drive in the snow or wet conditions. This system surpasses SH-AWD and 70% fore or aft, the Cadillac will send 100% to any corner.
Hairy legs and Flip Flops review.....na na na na bo bo :-) Awesome review btw. Is the sunshade for the panoramic sunroof on the XT5 solid fabric or mesh fabric?
Who has experience between this car vs lincoln mkx? Considering this Xt5 vs mkx 2.7L, what's everyone's opinion? In the used market they're both in the same price range. All things considered between reliability + engine/speed + luxury featues + sound system = I'm leaning towards the mkx at the moment due to the Revel Audio + the 2.7L ecoboost. Any suggestions?
Cadillac has auto up rear windows on a number of their models. And they have had anti-pinch engineered into them. This comes across as unnecessary cost cutting.
It's cost cutting, all my 2004 Cadillac had auto up/down front Windows, when an object obstructed the window from being rolled all the way up, it stops, and rolls back down. Same for the sunroof and the same thing for my 2010 Buick lacrosse. Not sure why they can't just include it in the rear seats.
Hey , this would mean a lot to me if you could review a 2016 Chrysler 200C fully loaded (they improved the transmission for 2016) and a fiat500L. I have a 500L and I'd love to hear what u think of it.
Are those seats used across all Cadillacs? If so I agree with the uncomfortable feeling. I was in a CTS the other day at work and couldn't find a comfortable position
I drove this for a few hours as a rental before I had to turn it in due to a malfunctioning electronic parking break (it didn't work anymore and it kept blinking all the time, so pretty annoying). It was my first experience with a Cadillac and I was pleasantly surprised. However, my replacement was a Mercedes GLS450, so a "few" steps up and nothing really compares to that.
@Sofyan Great review i like this car, please do a review on the 2017 Lincoln MKZ that is sharp. Don't do another Hybrid on the Lincoln that last one you did was bland
Im looking for a suv im torn between a xt5 or a rx350. Still having a hard time deciding witch to get last cadillac i owned was a 92 devil back in the late 90s and haven't had one since but il have to test drive them both
@@iheartbb Still currently driving my 2016 es350. The price between a rx and xt5 are very different i found same year and same amount of miles but way different prices im guessing there is a great difference between reliability between these two suv's my es350 is basically a rx350 and the xt5 im thinking its like a chevy suv witch i dont remember the name of. My main reason why im doubting the xt5 is that they have the start stop witch i really do not like so still undecided I will need to wait until the end of the year
This isn't a 2017, this is a 2016. The interior that's equipped on the car you showed was updated for the 2017 model year, adding a Jet Black headliner.
btw, any new news about the caddy elmiraj concept? if they'd just put it into production as shown at pebble beach they'd sell every one of 'em in an instant...even with an astronomical sticker price! cadillac elmiraj and buick avista concepts would be glorious gems in their showrooms!
I know this is 6/7 years old but I gotta say something… I watch your channel and I think, perhaps, you’ve matured… I like your reviews as you generally stay unbiased. Which is what any real consumer in the market needs to get any value from a car review. Just the facts. No input of opinion… nobody’s perfect, I would have trouble remaining unbiased so I’d have to work at it… You asked if Cadillac has the right to charge $62k for this thing. In America, certainly pre Biden 2020, we are 100% a capitalist society. The car is worth whatever the market demands it’s worth. So yes, Cadillac has the right to charge $62k for this. Cadillac has the right to set the MSRP of this at $200k if they so choose. If it sells, they will keep or increase their ask. If not, they will be forced to lower the MSRP or spend millions in R and D on a redesign or model image change. Car prices are super frustrating, I get it for sure. On a side note, with Cadillac’s long and successful/storied history, I’d say they are the 1 American brand that would have the “right” to ask $62k if that’s the type of society we lived in…
Great review - thanks! I especially appreciate the insights on interior size. I'm a big / tall person, so interior space is very important to me. In your reviews, what other SUV's in this premium / midsize category would have better interior space?
I'm getting me one next year in the same color and year 201or 2018. I just brought a 2013 Chevy Malibu LT2 in a Pearl White about 2 months ago. I'm trading that one for the Xt5 late next year.
In my opinion, Acura and Infiniti are behind in interior design. Their new models share so much resemblance to older models. They update rather than redesign. I think Cadillac has the right to play high game. American luxury at its best.
I can't how Cadillac is stepping up their game if they removed the V6 from a standard option and now giving a 4 cylinder as standard? As a matter of fact ... You'll need to spend 48,000 + add the $1000.00 V6 option to get it cause there's no V6 option on the $44,000 cheaper xt5 model.

can you do a review of the new Infiniti q60? Because I am considering to buy it. The other cars I am considering are the mustang gt, subaru wrx, ford focus rs, golf r, and the civic type r
Depends on what you want to do, leasing is good if you want a new car every 2-3 years and will cost you much more money in the long run than buying a used car in full. I would highly suggest buying the used car.
Bubba Junior How would it cost more money in the long run? I know the positives of leasing is that they take care of all the maintenance while the negatives are that you have to take the car back after 3 years the same exact way you drove off with it.
Ness Rosenbrad Because after 3 years you will have to buy a car or lease another one! So if you just buy it now you will be better off. And if you buy a car in full you can have cheaper insurance payments if you don't want to carry full coverage
I bought an XT5 with full options last October, I don't regret doing so a bit. i really loved this car

Great review, but when will you review the new 2016 Lincoln MKX??
I drove this for a few hours as a rental before I had to turn it in due to a malfunctioning electronic parking break (it didn't work anymore and it kept blinking all the time, so pretty annoying). It was my first experience with a Cadillac and I was pleasantly surprised. However, my replacement was a Mercedes GLS450, so a "few" steps up and nothing really compares to that.
@Sofyan Great review i like this car, please do a review on the 2017 Lincoln MKZ that is sharp. Don't do another Hybrid on the Lincoln that last one you did was bland
do they back lit cupholders, say like Dodge does, also how about the door handles, have they also got back lit lights
Im looking for a suv im torn between a xt5 or a rx350. Still having a hard time deciding witch to get last cadillac i owned was a 92 devil back in the late 90s and haven't had one since but il have to test drive them both
What did you get? The XT5 costs around 20K these days
@@iheartbb
Still currently driving my 2016 es350. The price between a rx and xt5 are very different i found same year and same amount of miles but way different prices im guessing there is a great difference between reliability between these two suv's my es350 is basically a rx350 and the xt5 im thinking its like a chevy suv witch i dont remember the name of. My main reason why im doubting the xt5 is that they have the start stop witch i really do not like so still undecided
I will need to wait until the end of the year
Its American, completely genius vehicle.
Thanks for the information
The emblem on the back of the seat does not dig into my back :)
This Interior is soo much better than the Interior of the Bmw x3.
No input of opinion… nobody’s perfect, I would have trouble remaining unbiased so I’d have to work at it…
You asked if Cadillac has the right to charge $62k for this thing. On a side note, with Cadillac’s long and successful/storied history, I’d say they are the 1 American brand that would have the “right” to ask $62k if that’s the type of society we lived in…
Not sure why you say big people will feel cramped. I'm 6'3, 370 lbs, and couldn't believe how roomy it felt.
Hey! I didn;t know they still make Cadillacs ?
In my opinion, Acura and Infiniti are behind in interior design. Their new models share so much resemblance to older models. They update rather than redesign. I think Cadillac has the right to play high game. American luxury at its best.
when are u reviewing the Acadia?
Acadia review is already filmed, expect to see it up early next month.
ohhh ok :)
+Redline Reviews any news about the traverse? are they refreshing that model too?
Panoramic sunroof is standard on Luxury and up
can you do the 2017 ford expedition!!
You did show us do a review of the 2nd gen SRX in 2theRedline
I can't how Cadillac is stepping up their game if they removed the V6 from a standard option and now giving a 4 cylinder as standard?
As a matter of fact ... You'll need to spend 48,000 + add the $1000.00 V6 option to get it cause there's no V6 option on the $44,000 cheaper xt5 model.
Do you plan on reviewing the 2017 GMC Acadia?
Very good review
Pretty sure this goes against the X5, not X3
+Joe Black isn't the escalade based on the Tahoe? Which is in the large suv category
www.iihs.org/iihs/news/desktopnews/new-crash-test-results-bmw-x5-performance-is-excellent-but-leaks-from-isuzu-troopers-fuel-system-prompt-recalls
Not according to IIHS and pretty much every auto mag
wow, an X7 from bimmer. That's gonna be interesting
The X5 is currently BMWs largest SUV but is is classified as a Midsize by international standards and BMW themselves. Surprisingly, the 2016 BMW X5 has just recently won the JD Power Premium Midsize SUV award in initial quality.
It will be interesting. However, I don't think it will be also a work horse like the Denali, Escalade or Navigator, no trailer hitch attachment.
My grandma has this car. The seat bump thing is cool😂
Are you going to do a 2017 mazda 3 review ?
Sofyan, when do you think Nissan will refresh the Quest and Pathfinder? it's been a while
Pathfinder was just refreshed for 2017, the future of the Quest is unknown for the US market right now.
+Redline Reviews thanks for letting me know, I just looked at it. looks very nice I'm looking forward to a review done by you :)
Check his Instagram. Just showed the refreshed pathfinder! Looks much better!
+waqas pathan Woww! You unearthed a blast from the past there! I haven't heard "Nissan Quest" in ages.
can you do a review of the new Infiniti q60? Because I am considering to buy it. The other cars I am considering are the mustang gt, subaru wrx, ford focus rs, golf r, and the civic type r
We've got a Q50 Red Sport 400 scheduled next week :)
+Redline Reviews thanks
Any chance of you reviewing a 2017 Ford Explorer Platinum 2.7 EcoBoost V-6?
+Redline Reviews schedule for a Infiniti q30 anytime soon?
+jeepluv76 the explorer does not come with the 2.7
Question which is overall better? Leasing a brand new car or buying a used one in full?
