I've been doing a lot of research to figure out what kind of cameras will complement my property. We have some weird stuff going on like a detached garage in the back of the house in the driveway that goes along the side of the house so there are a lot of considerations for viewing angles, zoom, tracking, etc. Along the way I decided I am interested in a real link set up, but they have so many cameras. You have reviewed every single camera that I am considering and I appreciate the depth and breadth of your reviews.
I purchased the Reolink RLC-823S1. I have chosen it over the TrackMix, because of the 823's sturdy build, the bell-housing is full metal, not plastic as with TrackMix. Also the PTZ motors are of different quality than the TrackMix. The PTZ is very fast, I think there has been made many improvements over the 823A. I specifically use my camera to keep track of my dogs at night and during the day, so basically as sentry-function. Really love the camera.
Thank you for doing this. Ironically I'm only watching this video now but started with the Trackmix, returned it and bought and kept the 823A. The 823A for done reason had much better audio+mic which was important to us
Nice review! The 823A wins hands down regarding image quality, especially at night. This is explaining why it has twice the price of the Trackmix. However, it is indeed quite loud, but that is no dealbreaker for me. I have just ordered it.
Another excellent review in which you put your educated finger on the main pros and cons of each camera. I don't own the TrackMix and never will if the night vision isn't improved somehow.. I do own the 823A and while it's a great image, the autofocus is a joke, sometimes taking 30 seconds. The left/right oscillations should be improved with the latest beta but tracking is still erratic, especially close to the camera. Neither camera is ready for prime time yet imho.
@@kayberry6292 thanks. Based on my research, I think it’s the pick of the PTZ cameras still?. The track mix night vision is terrible which is a no go. And the 16x appears to have other issues. I’m yet to accept Amazon delivery. Is there any ptz camera you would change it too?
@@ibsn87 - I haven't tried the 16x but the 823A is Reolink's best camera for me, now that the autofocus issue seems to be fixed. It isn't great at night either but the white light spotlight helps considerably. And it has been very robust for me - impervious to rain and still functioning as intended after three years solid workout. I haven't even had to change the SDcard which stores approx two weeks of motion events before overwriting.
I have two 823As and with this recent update they have been great. Yes the noise when rotating is annoying but still nice. I think I will be recommending the Trackmix to people over the 823A though since I think overall it is a better fit for most people and $80 cheaper.
@@LifeHackster but at night the 823-A has better quality of recording. i was disappointed from the trackmix, Especially with the backlight behind your fence, I could hardly see your face

Currently can’t return to Patrol mode, and will return to monitoring point (if set), or some random spot if not set. Is this going to be a feature or is there a way to work around this limitation? Thanks for all you do!
@Dave W. Decided to go with the Trackmix. It's such an awesome camera with several great features. It be perfect if it had a true zoom lens. Still an amazing camera for the price. Best purchase ever.

@Dave W. Awesome, you're going to love it. Set up is easy, but customizing the settings to your environment was just a bit frustrating, a lot of trial and error. But got it dialed in now and it's pretty cool. The one thing I didn't like about the 823a is how loud it was compared to the Trackmix. Way more discreet, you barely hear the Trackmix as it rotates.

Thanks for the detailed video. I was reviewing cameras just before I saw your video and one purchase review that talked about adding newer cameras (4k) to a (2K) recorder. Their main complaint was about functions that didn't work. Maybe that was due to using a 4k camera with a 2k NVR. What model NVR were you using? You may want to talk about NVR compatibility when talking about cameras and not full systems. Thank you.

@@LifeHackster at 4:11 the wide angle camera is 2840 x 2160 (6MP)
RLC-800 line can record at 3840 x 2160 (8MP), not sure why at 3:10 it also says 2840 x 2160. Is that a typo?

is there a video of him showing what happens on the reolink tracking camerasr when it is trained right and you come up on the left?
Just heard about the Eufy Security Garage-Control Cam Plus; any chance you'll be reviewing this in the future?
I'm not sure yet..but I have the unit. It has the compatibility issue with "yellow" learn button openers like the Wyze controller one... we will see.
Thanks for the review. 👍🏻
You are welcome.
What about the battery life and the solar camera feature performance?
These 2 cameras are wired/plugged IN.
Great review, I hope you will also review the new products from Reolink like the new doorbell which is on presale now and shipped out on the first days of October 2022
I will review the doorbell when it comes out…I’m excited to check it out.
Reolink duo 3 POE review? Wondering about your thoughts and a possible sell date. Though I do plan to buy when it first comes out. Mainly due to the fact that I have the first 2 models and they seem to keep getting better.
It officially comes out tomorrow, let's wait s couple days more for his review
I am patiently waiting for Reolink to release 4K 60fps + 10x optical zoom ip camera....finger cross.
I appreciate you answering me back thanks. I also wants to know if I can manually zoom in with either one of the cameras I’m looking to upgrade my cameras and I’ve been looked at eufy and reolink which system do you recommend? I want to use just one system included the door bell
Can you shut off the tracking option if you want on the TrackMix? I just want to be able to move the camera without getting up on the ladder.
Have you had the camera working remotely (via the phone app when you are not on the same LAN)?
Of all the reolink cameras you've tested, which cameras have optical zoom auto tracking ?
At ir night vision with the trackmix it looks a bit laggy in the footage. But I’m surprised it still can detect in the ghosting
Thank you so much for this video!
Hello Life hacker good to you! I saw in one of your recent videos a thing you used to improve Wi-Fi signal what is it please
Would the Reolink Argus 4 pro with 180 degree view be better than this motion camera?
nice video, to bad the 823 has only 54 degrees horizontal view.
whether the camera detects motion only where it is pointed
Hi.
I have reolink cameras. I have a Chinese nvr. The nvr is not recording the audio of the Reolink cameras. Do you know how to fix this? Support doesn't want to help.
Maybe you can help. I have the trackmix and cannot bind to the cloud?
Going to do a review of reolink doorbell poe?
Whenever it becomes available. Thanks.
Hello, I really enjoy watching your videos because you explain things very well. I bought several cameras from Reolink and after this video also the track mix. Now I have questions about the 823 and the track mix that Reolink didn't answer: what are your autotracking settings and how does it work with the dual lens? I have a system with Reolink NVR and all cameras are PoE. Can you help me? Thanks in advance and greetings

Hi !
If I attach 2 cameras, can I have the same link on 1 iphone ?
Thank you!
Can you switch off the auto tracking mode on the TrackMix and use it as a static if you need?
Yes.
Hello sir. I currently live in a rental unit and property management does not allow installation of anything outside the unit. Will security cameras work effectively behind glass if I install the cameras indoor, behind glass windows? Thank you
if infrared lights is on for night vision, it will reflect off the glass and see a glare. during the day you will be fine. some cameras have options to turn off infrared lights

What do you need to set it up besides the camera
Great videos!! Keep up the good work! Thanks
hello, I am a faithful follower of this channel that is really special and everything I have about security in my home is thanks to this channel, but I have a big question and I need help, really which camera is better for the front of my home where there are constant movement, I have an RLC 523 5MP I bought a 4K NVR and I am renewing the cameras to 4K and I have great doubts about which one to decide between RLC823A and the Mix.
I plan to change my current cameras. They are under the house overhang which is about 17 feet up. Will that significantly affect the 823A performance?
Is it actually possible for the trackmix to make "camera trips" independently and thus monitor the entire property? Maybe with another app?
the 823A is so noisy when moving.. is the noise we heard on the Trackmix the sound coming from itself or the 823A?
It is from the 823A…
Can you compare them to eufy floodlight cam 2 pro. I want the eufy, but don't want to have 2 or more software to manage, reolink, ring pro and eufy...
11:05 How about overmount? Can you rotate the Trackmix so it's upside-down, so you can mount it on a tabletop, and all functionality is still good?
That looks Nice!
Love this review. In the market for a PTZ camera with at least 4x optical zoom and this review if very useful. Would be nice if you could compare this with IP4M-S2112EW-AI.
I’ve been trying to look for a camera that I can use over the garage to keep an eye on my mailbox because somebody has been tampering with my outgoing mail what would you suggest?
Would the bracket RLC 423 / RLC 823A works with Reolink TrackMix WiFi
