I picked up an S340 during Black Friday. I'm pretty impressed with it. It does seem to have a weaker wifi signal than my other Eufy cameras in the same spot, but with the Base Station as a repeater, it seems to be doing okay. I have it plugged into my outlet, as the front of my house really doesn't get much sun at all. I will say that for best results, you want to put this camera up higher. Like 7-10 feet. It can't rotate down as far as you'd expect. Thanks for another great comparison, LifeHackster.

Hi brother! I rarely comment on RUclips video, but I've been following you for a while now and I've always love your detailed and honest reviews. I've used all type of security camera for my business and my house, from ring, wyze, nest, LaView etc..
Last year I was looking to an upgrade that will not require any membership, wiring or major install. After watching your video "Eufy Security EufyCam 3 Review". I was sold by the IA detection and the local storage. When a couple of month I watch your video about the new S340... I was sold. I end up getting 4 of those, wish by far are the best security camera I ever own for the house. I'm about to get an extra one to put in the backyard. Appreciate the review. I get a much different colored night vision on my Eufy solocam s340 at night than what you had. It looks AMAZING on mine! It probably depends on one's surrounding light in their area.

I have added it to my homebase S380. Maybe that’s why it tracks animals.

Great review as always. I don't mind the Reolink's problems. I'll go for the PoE one anyway, 50m cable in the ground to the front gate is a one time effort, so I prefer wired setups for where the security is paramount. Watching over the horses, chicken, etc can be WiFi, they won't steal my stuff anyway😊

Can the traxmix or the RLC-823A 16X be use straight out the box with a poe injector and the reolink app? I have starlink and they blockport forwarding with CGNAT. I'm looking for a cloud based security camera that works straight out the box with a poe injector and an app, no other equpment.

how would the trackmix wired do vs the s340 which is battery?
Will the Eufy S340 still work if you block it from connecting to the internet?
My Wyze and blink doesn’t work at all when blocked from the internet. No recordings.
I can block my Trackmix, everything works perfectly, just doesn’t send out notifications, but pet/human/vehicle detection all work.

Do you think the solar panels would work well indoors for a business if the lights are on all day?
Honestly everything except for the tracking hiccups were better on the Reolink especially when you were talking through the camera.
My ReoLink was pre-wired for an NVR.

PoE cameras like the plug in ones uses camera based detection.

I like your videos and have found them helpful in assisting me with which security camera system I should install in my home, so thank you for that.
I noticed in this video that you have the two cameras very close to each other in the video testing, around nine inches from each other.
If you copy and paste the following into Google, Can security cameras too close to each other interfere with the camera? It states. Do not keep the cameras too close to each other (
I own two S340’s and one PoE trackmix. Eufy is definitely a more polished product.

Thanks for the review. I was looking at both these cameras. The biggest drawback for the Eufy,, for me is it will not connect to a Windows client. I don't own a smartphone and other cameras I have tried connecting Cloudplus through an Android Emulator will not work, I don't know if Eufy's app would. If you have any suggestions for solar Wi-Fi outdoor camera with a Windows client, it would be appreciated.

I have a Reolink Trackmix Battery camera, and am getting ready to buy the Eufy camera because it's cheaper and can be connected to an NVR. After watching your video, I now have a Reolink Trackmix camera for sale, LOL 😂.... I'm kidding, I'll find some use for it. Especially since it's a $300 camera.

Don't buy a eufy they are really bad at AI, worse image quality etc... Eufy is better for battery cameras, but anything wired stick to reolink

Great video, I can’t believe I missed the Amazon sale for the Eufy S340 for $139.99 during the week leading up to Cyber Monday. I’ve read some unhappy customers on Reddit regarding the S340 not recording in 3k as advertised unless it only records from one camera. Is this correct?
Mine records in 2304x2592 in dual view mode and 2880 x 1616 in single view mode.

It needs a SIM card because it uses cellular LTE connection to connect to the internet. The micro SD card is for the recordings.
How do you manage notification bloat when you trigger the cameras by walking or driving up? Or is it just going to notify every single time you leave and return home?
It will just notify you every time and with this, you will also know that the cameras are working and recording.
I have 2 Reolink Trackmix. 1 of them works good and tracks good. Whereas the other one will see motion and actually turn the other way. I'm afraid to buy another one.
I have it happen when I reviewed the E1 outdoor PoE a while back. It loses its set positions.

These cameras are great EXCEPT they are very buggy. I get tons of event recordings with nothing showing. I have changed the sensitivity a bunch but still goes off way too much when nothing happens. It snowed recently and the snow fall kept setting it off.

If the eufy camera tracks someone to the left does the camera stay in that position? What if someone then walks up the right side, would it detect that and turn? I've never had a tracking camera before so trying to make sure it'd work for me. Thanks!
It will follow and track the first motion that it has detected.

Reolink seem to have a crappier UI compared to eufy.. you should use pan/tilt first on the tracking for the trackmix. It won't zoom out and stay zoomed in on the target everytime the camera pans side ways.
I have to try that. I just don’t like the jerky movements when it tracks that is why I set digital first.

Good video as always. Eufy the clear winner. Reolink really needs to fix downloading footage. Jumping through all those hoops to download your footage is ridiculous.
Their cameras also have a ton of false triggers. I have one setup in a room where literally no one goes into and nothing moves, yet it constantly triggers, records, and sends alerts.
Their cameras also trigger, record, and alert when you just load the live view then close it. Probably because you have to put a micro SD card in them in order to remotely watch through them, and record. That's not annoying at all, 🙄

I believe the S340 comes with the extension.
How can I activate the spotlight while motion recording?
In Live View, there is a spotlight icon or it will turn ON automatically when it detects motion. Just set it up in the settings.
track mix as better video quality and audio .. the eufy is smaller which is nice. but i have a track mix plugged in and its works perfect.. the load times you mention can be caused by if your phone is connected to your wifi.. the reolink cameras wont load if your phone is connected to wifi.. turn off the wifi on your phone and it will load no issues.
I use eufy E40 For my shed.. its only goes off when someone is there and thats all i need it to do. trackmix battery has alot of processing to due for a battery and i wonder how fast that battery last.
It is in 5G cellular connection in my demo. My other Reolink cameras loaded up fine. The trackmix battery uses up battery pretty quick if not hooked up to a solar panel. Thanks for watching!
BTW, I do notice this too once in a while about having your phone connected to your WiFi and having a hard time loading up the camera mostly Reolink and Eufy. Do you have a mesh network? Do you use an iPhone? Im not sure if this is a camera issue.

As you saw on the video, the S340. It is more reliable and responsive. The plug in and PoE versions of the trackmix which doesn't use the PIR sensor are very good.

Thanks but you forgot to mention the major flaw of the Eufy... you can't view multiple cams at once.
This is a basic feature of any security system & I can't believe we're in 2024 & Eufy still doesn't have it...
Night and day difference in video quality if you ask me... and is that not the most important aspect of a security camera?
Reolink wins IMO, as usual. Just sucks that it can't record to their own NVR but you can record 24/7 to a high endurance SDcard.
The little issues with Reolink seem to be mostly all related to firmware and not hardware. Based on Reolink's track record, there's a high chance it'll be fixed with an update.
True. But if the trackmix doesn’t detect and record 100 percent of the time…the video quality will not matter right? because it didn’t detect the motion in the first place.

I’m not understanding your question..but when wired, like PoE, the connection is directly to your network.
Eufy has nice cameras but their app and limitations on the Homebase are trash.
The homebase 3 will ad abilities like detection of "Person and Pets" But ties all Notifications together meaning you only have options for Notifications ON or OFF .
Basically if you have it to Detect it will also be turned on for Notifications.
You also are limited to VIEW 1 camera at a time they have No multiview or multi camera abilities on the app and refuse to add the capability.

Problem I have are bitter jealous people. The ones who case my house always stare stop and keep eyeballing my camera. It tracks them and they don't like it.
I know 100% they are nefarious. Regular normal people don't care. They don't stare they have no ill intent. They know it's a security camera.
Unfortunately I live in a neighborhood that is a mixed bag. There are trailer people townhouse people small house people regular houses then mine. New construction. They bring their dogs to piss n shit all over our yards. They think nothing will happen to them and it's a big FU to my cameras.
The opinionated people are the worst. They think this n that and think they are better than me and that I should not have what they don't have. It's annoying. So many scumbags who get angry that you have something they don't.
One tried to use their kids as an excuse to get me to take down my cameras. Didn't work. Cops were on my side. That's right they tried to say bc the camera follows that I was being creepy. I said I didn't invent the thing anyone can buy one. I wanted to be nice so I took down my cameras.
Big mistake. It didn't take 1 day and my house was broken into and ruts were in my lawn. DO NOT FALL FOR ANY OF THE TRICKS N GAMES. STAY VIGILANT. KEEP YOUR CAMERAS UP N RUNNING NO MATTER HOW NICE THEY SEEM. CROOKS WILL FAKE EVERYTHING TO GET YOU TO DROP YOUR GUARD.
eufy is crap try to export 6h footage from it ... nightmare!
Why 6 hours of footage? In a battery powered camera that only records motion events? You need a wired surveillance camera not a security one.
@@LifeHackster not specifically to this model, in fact i purshase the cameras because you have done a good review and i though the cameras where good, i had a full eufy setup with the home base 3, recording 24h, than I had to extract 6h footage from 3 cameras, simply impossible... a real nightmare, even emailed the customer service many times... there is no way to copy past the files as any other camera ....the solution was to program a robot to automate the press record buton than stop after 2 min save and repeat for 6h c 3 cameras...
so in a a real world scenario where you need to extract a long footage for police you will be screwed

@@philippeantonietti I agree that export of a video footage is crucial…but “relevant” footage for security, which most if not all the time only happens in seconds not hours. This is why even if your camera records 24/7, you really need to know around what time the event happened and just download the however many seconds that clip is. Have you tried other brands? Can you download the full 6 hours worth? I know some cameras that record to a microSD card 24/7 split up the footages in 2 minute or 5 minute clips and not whole hours of footage.
@@LifeHackster The audio was necessary for the problem i had here... so there was not a constant motion trigger for 6h, maybe 2h .. 3h is actually relevant, BUT IS A MUST you be able to export your data as you wish .... does not make any sense such export limitation specially if they advertise "your data in your control" "24/7record" is very misleading what can be done.
I used ANKER, Foxcom in the past and i could extract content easy, now replaced ALL Eufy by Reolink much better, and yes can be stracted as you wish !!!!
tried also TAPO and is not good as the file system is not standard, and you don't want to deal with non well established file formats
my opinion you need to add this information in your reviews because users will just realize how important it is when they need to get the file and bump into a brick wall,
maybe include an advance section in the video telling if the camera offers web interface, RTSP, ONVIF, FTP ... and other advanced stuff useful for HomeAssitant and other Smart home integration stuff
